LOVING THEATMOSPHERIC ALIEN STUDIO Tutor: Rennie Liffen (Hayball) Virginia Mannering
A foyer designed for the glam rock star, David Bowie, whom held his last Zigy Stardust concert on the 2nd of July, 1973. The foyer is design based on a consideration of moments when hundreds of mad fans enters and exits the building within the two main access that are 9m high of the venue hall. A self-interpretation design on a hypothetical site in the mid-summer 70s in London. The concept was drawn back to David Bowie’s personas, the transition he has made and achieved through the characters, costumes, make ups and songs that he exposed, along with the cultural context of: self expression and exploration in London (the lifestyle of drug used, dressing up and make ups).

CONSTRUCTION OFFICE TOWER
The design of the 60 storeys office tower is based on a consideration of both technical and economical understanding that inform feasibility studies for a commercial tower in the Melbourne CBD. The design is to celebrate the simplicity of a square geometry scheme while at the same time established the challenged of designing a twsiting skyscraper that is envisioned to be the new landmark in Melbourne. Each floor plate is twisted 1.5 degree from the central core, giving a total of up to 120 degrees. This as the same time pushes the group to solve the issues of efficiency of rentable areas affected by the twisting nature. The commercial tower project leads the group to touch on the issue of mechanical floor, vertical circulation along the facts of sustainability and efficiency within the twisting building.
