Preface The aim of this video ethnography project is to cater and give value to the unsung heroes of Marinduque. More importantly, to sustain and empower the culture of wood crafting here in Boac since it shows great potential that helps our fellow Marinduqueño to have a livelihood and improves our province economy as well. We would like thank the owner of JC Kame Woodworks for helping us execute this video ethnography project as well as his family for supporting and giving us additional backgrounds about the furniture shop. This documentary project will not be possible without their cooperation and guidance. As the project leads, we also want to thank the man behind this video ethnography project which is Dr. Randy T. Nobleza for giving us opportunity to create this culture-based output. And for being patient, innovative and for inspiring us to do better and to do more. After all, this video ethnography project dedicates to all the small business that innovates and caters the different culture here in Marinduque on their products or services. That shows how the “Pamanang Sining” continuously empowered and enriched by our fellow Marinduqueños.

Com Elect 3 Video Ethnographies/ Culture-based documentaries Given the backdrop of global pandemics, natural/ manmade calamities and the fervent search for a cure, Communication Elective 3 or Cross-Cultural Communication is a continuation of an on-going dialogue on multi-, inter-, cross- and trans-disciplinal approaches in media, language and cultural studies. the BA Communication students has already taken-up Malayuning Komunikasyon as part of the new-generation General Education courses. Since MSC is offering the graduate diploma in cultural education at the graduate level, teacherscholars are taking CulEd206: media-based cultural documentation during the second summer or level 2 of the program. Interestingly, most of the GDCE batch 2 teacher-scholars are former AB English students who also took up Cross-Cultural Communication. They were the last batch of undergraduate students who took up English 422 with the same content and the content since 2008 is video ethnography. With the advent of flexible learning modalities, although there were interruptions during the current semester, it was a chance to have a continuity instead of a disconnect. It started with retooling of Contemporary World and Malayuning Komunikasyon which the present batch of BA Communication has already taken during their freshie year. But since last August, there was a retooling of Culture-based Malayuning Komunikasyon, it was but imperative to integrate this to the newly revamped elective course. Then, samples of GDCE CulEd206 output was presented to be guided accordingly. In the end, a series of consultation about the intangible cultural heritage and the domain 5: traditional craftsmanship ensued. One topic is about the plight of a coconut worker in the town of Mogpog and its creative potentials. The exercise is to devote as much as detailed materials on both culture bearers and mode of transmission to the practice of tradition and heritage. Another topic is dedicated to the weaving tradition in the old town of Santa Cruz. Other topics includes ceramics and pottery in Torrijos along with native cuisine or delicacy in the Gasan and Buenavista area. Dr. Randy T. Nobleza 1st Semester 2020-21 Marinduque State College

Overview Woodcraft is one of the traditional craftsmanship that uphold the cultural heritage of the Municipality of Boac. Boake単os are known for this type of craft as it comprises the wood-carving and most especially the furniture making. It is seen not just a craft but a symbol of values and histories from the Boake単o's roots. Embedded in woodcraft (furniture making) are the stories of the people who masters this kind of masterpiece. It does not only gives Marinduque単os a livelihood wherein they can earn income to support their daily living but at the same time it gives them a freedom to express their imagination and empower their creativity by creating meaningful art by means of wood carving. And through showcasing such talents by the Marindukanon, this serves as a refuge to preserve the island's culture and authenticity. This art shows that Marinduque is a native island that adapts eco-friendly and sustainable environment. Also, it is an indication that Marinduque is not only an island of magnificent destinations but an island who empowers the "kulturang paguukit" as well. Many centuries may pass yet the art our Marinduque単o ancestors who passed on lives up to this day and will live on tomorrow.

Synopsis The JC Kame Woodworks is located in Brgy. Cawit is one of the finest and leading furniture shop in the Municipality of Boac. Their 15 years in service of making unique-furniture designs through woods made them preserved the cultural and significance of craftsmanship in the province. Thus, this video ethnography will feature JC Kame Wood Work, the history and how they start the business, the process of making their product, their service and its cultural contribution to the province in the field of traditional craftsmanship. Furthermore, the video ethnography that will be produced by the group could forge and strengthen the traditional wood craft. This will reveal the inspiration and hear the untold stories that lives within the people behind this craft.

Sequence Treatment Likha Treatment, [12/10/20] Isla Dukementaryo Production Logline A 20 year furniture shop with its unique and affordable woodworks, continuously making a mark on the woodcrafting industry in Marinduque. Characters Edward Lopez Magallanes - The owner of JC Kame Woodworks loacted at Cawit, Boac, Marinduque. A humble man who is behind all the aesthetic wood pieces such as table set, sofa and doors. Due to his furniture shop, he was able to provide livelihood for his neighbours. Arnel Hizole - The hardworking worker in JC Kame Woodworks. With his long service on the furniture shop, he was able to provide rhe necessities of his family. More importantly, a dedicated and well-defined worker which added up to the reason why this furniture shop stays that long. Opening Scene Boac is the center of Marinduque and the heart of the art heritage. Being the center of commercial goods and services, this is also the place where most of the art crafts were made. Historically, the culture of carving is one of the heritage Boac is preserving and innovating as well. Since, Boac is rich with good quality woods the culture of wood carving came to existence. Discussing about their materials, clients and well-known individual and institutions that avail their products and services. Scene Three Presenting their story of innovating and empowering the culture of wood art here in Marinduque and their adjustments with the current situation of pandemic. In addition, explore the contribution of their shop towards the community and to the province as well.
