Project deliverables 1. Analysis of ECO-innovation influence on general M SORA activities and development (D1.9) The amount of sold ECO-S windows was 565.530 €. 565 units of ECO-s windows were produced and sold and among these there are single and double casement windows, sliding doors … The amount of “single units” is therefore 735 and the average area of unit was 2,03 m2. 4 different types of ECO-S windows was produced and sold and the amount of each is shown at lower figures. Windows were sold to Slovenia, Italy, Canada, USA, France, Germany and Austria.

It can be observed that 56% of sold windows were timber windows (NATURA) and 44% were timber-alu windows. A bit more than Âź of all sold units represent both passive windows (NATURE and COMFORT E112), whereas the majority of sold windows were timber windows NATURE E92.

Sold amount is lower as it was predicted at project proposal. The biggest reason for this is high production and consequently the price of windows which is still not affordable enough. The production and sell of just ECO-S insulation did not work out as window profiles of other companies are very specific and therefore it is extremely complicated to adjust insulation dimensions and shapes for specific customer. Therefore we learned, that windows with high thermal efficiency should be simple and more affordable.

Despite this we are producing ECO-S windows further on and selling them especially abroad.

Ecological evaluation of ECO-S project (D1.11)

The projected reduction of CO2 by the end of 2015 was evaluated to 375 tonnes which was calculated on the basis of LCA on 1.44 m2 units. Based on the amount of produced windows we can state that nearly 7 tonnes of CO2 was reduced. The reduction should however be calculated on the life-time of windows and therefore this reduction is higher. If considered entire lifetime the reductions are: -

897 tonnes of CO2, 159 tonnes of oil, 41.449 tonnes of water and 346 tonnes of wood.

Report on ECO-S window tests (D2.4)

ECO-S windows were teste on test rig produced by ift Rosenheim and was cofounded by ECO-S project. Many tests were made on ECO-S windows and here we present a short summary.

Windows were tested according to next standards: -

Air permeability - EN 1026:2001 Resistance against wind loads - EN 12211:2001 Water tightness - EN 1027:2001

The air permeability was almost always very good and at the top level as can be seen at lower figure.

The resistance against wind loads was always very good. Window profiles are very solid and therefore also statics of ECO-S windows is very good. Almost in all cases windows showed the highest level of resistance against window loads. The deflection to reach highest class at specific tested window should not exceed 2,23 mm (measured 2,02 mm).

Water permeability was at the beginning the biggest issue as it was not as expected. Therefore we needed to adapt few details and invent few solutions so that windows are of the best quality. As stated before, ECO-S windows are very solid and they are water resistant up to 600 Pa which is stated as class 9A. Beside ECO-S windows we tested many other window types, we found many solutions with the help of test rig and developed few innovative solutions which came out of problems. We can express that testing quality and performance with bought test rig rose the quality of ECO-S as well as all other products in our company.
