Good Bye
Model Secondary School for the Deaf should be proud of its students who have excelled in many areas of the school's curriculum. The graduating seniors looked down upon the underclassmen with the looks of happiness and sadness. L. Spencer

The week of Dec. 8th 1980, there were about half of the students who had the flu. Most of the students were sent home because of the sickness. They had a week extra for X-mas vacation. How lucky they were! They're well now, Thank Goodness!!
Hurry up and get me a tissue!!

"Not Such a Bad Place"
senior! The last year! Senior! The year we all cheer! And yet Amidst all the jubilation And celebration, 1 detect a trace of melancholy. Melancholy borne of finally leaving this place that once so long ago, it seems like eons, seemed like prison. Those times were not all sad times. Moments of joy Moments of tears. We all had fun here We cheered our football team on we went to parties and we dated and we danced Yet, where have all our old friends gone? Who're these new faces? Why are the dorm walls bulging and the lunch lines crowded? And as I think back I slowly realize Everyone I know Graduated And soon, So will I. Watching our teams grow Football, Swimming, Track, and Basketball And all those others. Participating in drama Feeling the satisfaction of the audiences; approval of our performances. Arsenic and Old Lace, Jesus Christ Superstar, South Pacific, and all those other equally wonderful plays.
Every year, something changes. And yet, nothing changes. Every year, another food strike to protest the food in the cafeteria. And still, the food is the same. Every year, new faces that become Old faces, All too fast. Senior! We worked hard to become a senior. English, Math, Social Studies and Science. Suffering through the boring courses and breezing through the interesting ones. And day after day, we slaved away. And yet, no matter what I may say, How much I complain and have complained, underneath it all, I retain an undercurrent of affection for this place. I can now look back and say: "I Love you, MSSD!" And I must admit that, once you get used to it, It's not such a bad place, After all. By Donald Grushkin Class of 1981
