I searched for my blockmates, asked them if I could stick with them until I found my poppy. I was placed in the Displaced Persons camp, with my newly made friends. "Rifele, Rifele!" I turned around to see a somewhat handsome man, whose body was losing weight from the lack of food and hard labor. He had his arms wide open, as tired as I was, I ran to him, "Poppy... I missed you so!" From there, we were reunited, I had to tell him the sad news of Mommy. He was depressed for a while, but the sight of me cheered him up so. After several months in the DP camp, we got message saying we' cl get to go to America, the land of the free! As the ship neared the Statue of Liberty, I turned my head to the shining sun, there, I knew the horror was over, but never forgotten! -Cynthia Hunt
