MSUB can claim its first-ever GNAC tournament title with a pair of victories Friday, as the ‘Jackets play Western Oregon at 1 p.m. with the winner advancing to the championship game against Northwest Nazarene. NAMPA, Idaho – Two victories stand between the Montana State University Billings baseball team and its first-ever Great Northwest Athletic Conference tournament title, as the Yellowjackets challenge Western Oregon University at 1 p.m. on Friday for a chance to play in the title game. MSUB (30-19) defeated the Wolves 10-2 on Thursday in its opening game, before a tough 4-3 loss to tournament host and No. 1 seed Northwest Nazarene University. With WOU defeating NNU 14-3 in the other game Thursday, all three teams entered the final day with a 1-1 record. The Crusaders received the automatic berth to Friday’s title game and will take on the winner of MSUB and WOU. Both of Friday’s games will feature live video and live statistics available through GNAC.tv. Having already set the program record for wins in a season and captured back-to-back regular-season GNAC titles, the ‘Jackets are looking to keep their hopes alive for a first-ever NCAA Division II West Region Championships bid.
