Bailee Dexter finishes second at the RMC Invite and picks up her first career GNAC Player of the Week honor. PORTLAND, Ore. – Being recognized for her second-place finish at last week’s Rocky Mountain College Invite, Montana State University Billings women’s golf junior Bailee Dexter has been named the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Player of the Week announced the conference office on Monday. Dexter fired a two-round total of 150, improving two strokes with a 76 in Round 1 and a 74 in Round 2 at the RMC Invite. The career-best performance was good enough for second place at the event, and Dexter tied her personal best for a single round with the 74. “Bailee had a great tournament, and I was very pleased with her first day,” said MSUB head coach Kevin Woodin. “She double-bogeyed the first hole, but then rallied to register a solid score even though she didn’t hit the ball up to her standards. The second day, her score was excellent, even though she played through poor weather.”

Also competing for the Yellowjackets at the Saint Martin’s Invite on Friday and Saturday in Olympia, Wash., Dexter played her way to a tie for 12th place in the rain-shortened event. As of Monday’s GNAC statistics, Dexter leads the entire conference with a scoring average of 75.3 in the fall season. “Bailee hit a lot of greens in regulation and made very few mistakes,” Woodin commented. “To date, she has asserted herself as one of the top golfers in our region, and I look for her to continue to improve.” This is the first career player of the week award for Dexter, who was MSUB’s top finisher in both her freshman and sophomore years at the GNAC Championships. She joins fellow golfer Connor Miele, who also received the conference’s weekly honor on Monday, as MSUB’s teams swept this week’s men’s and women’s awards. Dexter and the ‘Jackets are currently competing in their final tournament of the fall, playing at the Western Washington University Invitational in Bellingham, Wash., running Monday and Tuesday. --@MSUBSports | #JacketNation--
