Haley Shackelford earns academic all-conference for the second straight year, and Bailee Dexter and Connor Miele are first-time selections to represent the Yellowjacket golf program. PORTLAND, Ore. – Junior Haley Shackelford earned academic all-Great Northwest Athletic Conference honors for the second straight year, and Connor Miele and Bailee Dexter also represented the Montana State University Billings golf programs by earning the award announced on Wednesday. “I am very proud of Haley, Bailee, and Connor for their academic honors,” said MSUB head coach Kevin Woodin. “They have done an excellent job of being leaders on the course and in the classroom. It is very hard to balance your time effectively but all of them have responded to that challenge.” Shackelford entered the 2016 GNAC Championships with a scoring average of 81.4 and had a pair of top-10 finishes for MSUB in her third season. Shackelford holds a 3.48 overall grade point average and is studying special education. She was inducted into MSUB’s Chi Alpha Sigma National Honor Society earlier this year, and she was one of eight golfers in the GNAC on the women’s side to be selected to the all-conference team for a second time.
Dexter was the Yellowjackets’ top finisher at the conference tournament for the second year in-a-row, as she matched her accomplishment last year with another sixth-place finish. Dexter is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in English and holds a stellar 3.91 grade point average. Miele was the top golfer for the ‘Jackets this year, leading the team with a 14th-place finish at the GNAC Championships in his first season competing at MSUB.
