MSUB’s men’s and women’s basketball teams are set for an exhibition doubleheader against Montana Tech on Friday night at Alterowitz Gym, and will wear retro jerseys on EMC Throwback Night. BILLINGS, Mont. – Alterowitz Gym will be packed in black and gold Friday night, as the Montana State University Billings basketball teams are set for an exhibition doubleheader against Montana Tech on Eastern Montana College Throwback Night. The Yellowjacket women will take the court at 5:30 p.m., with the men’s game following at 7:30 p.m. Both teams will wear retro EMC jerseys, honoring the university’s history under its former moniker. The MSUB Alumni Association will also be present Friday night, providing information and updates on Yellowjacket alumni in the main lobby. Tickets for Friday’s doubleheader matinee will be available at the door for $8 for the general public, $4 for seniors (ages 65 and up), students in grades 7-12, and MSUB faculty and staff, and free admission for all MSUB students and children in grades six and under.
MSUB’s women’s team is coming off of a 67-62 exhibition win at Rocky Mountain College on Monday, and Friday’s game will be the final preseason contest before the team starts its regular season next week in California. The ‘Jackets will take on UC San Diego on Nov. 11, Cal State San Marcos on Nov. 12, and Point Loma Nazarene on Nov. 14 in southern California. Picked to finish fourth in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference preseason coaches’ poll, MSUB’s roster boasts a talented group of returners. GNAC Preseason Player of the Year and preseason All-American Alisha Breen headlines the group, which also features three-year starting point guard Rylee Kane and returning starter Tiana Hanson as a senior forward. The Yellowjacket men’s team opened its exhibition season with a narrow 76-72 loss to Carroll College on Wednesday at Alterowitz Gym, as a valiant comeback effort fell just short against the No. 9 team in the NAIA top-25. After Friday’s tilt against the Orediggers, MSUB will open its regular-season schedule at Cal Baptist on Nov. 11, and will take on Holy Names the following evening in a pair of games in Riverside, Calif. MSUB was tabbed to finish seventh in the GNAC preseason coaches’ poll, and has an experienced roster of veterans returning. Losing just two players from last year’s team, MSUB welcomes back 10 members of its roster including 201516 GNAC Freshman of the Year Preston Beverly, and seniors Marc Matthews and Jace Anderson. All MSUB home games and select road games this season will feature live video with play-by-play commentary and live statistics, available through MSUB’s Stretch Internet portal here. New this season, a dozen MSUB men's and women's games will be broadcast live on ESPN Radio 910 KBLG in Billings, with Dustin Daniel on the play-by-play call. Fans can listen live by tuning their radio to 910 AM in Billings, or listen online at www.espn910.com. --@MSUBSports | #JacketNation--
