Earning a spot on her first-ever NCAA national committee, MSUB athletic director Krista Montague will serve on the women’s basketball committee. From the GNAC Office… PORTLAND, Ore. – Continuing service to the sport she played as a college athlete, Montana State University Billings athletic director Krista Montague has been named to the NCAA Division II Women’s Basketball Committee. Montague, who is in her 14th year at Montana State Billings and her fourth as the school’s athletic director, begins her appointment immediately and will serve a four-year term. She will chair the West Region Regional Advisory Committee, which is charged to select the five at-large teams for the NCAA West Regional Tournament.
As part of the committee, Montague will help administer and conduct the NCAA Division II Women’s Basketball National Championship. She will also serve as the NCAA representative during preliminary-round competition and the championship finals. “It’s an honor to serve in this capacity and represent both MSUB and the GNAC,” Montague said. “I’m looking forward to assisting the NCAA in continuing to provide positive and rewarding experiences for our student-athletes.” This is the third time that Montague has been tapped to serve on an NCAA committee. She served on the Division II Softball West Regional Advisory Committee from 2008 to 2011 and on the Division II Volleyball West Regional Advisory Committee in 2015. Montague is one of eight GNAC administrators currently serving on NCAA national committees. In addition, 17 GNAC coaches or administrators serve the NCAA on regional advisory committees. A four-year letterwinner in basketball at Montana State Billings, Montague set the school record for career free throw percentage. She helped lead the Yellowjackets to three Pacific West Conference championships and four trips to the same NCAA tournament that she now will help run.
