After a pair of wins last week, MSUB’s men’s soccer team jumps to sixth in the latest NCAA Division II West Region poll, which determines the field of postseason teams BILLINGS, Mont. – Jumping to the sixth spot in the latest NCAA Division II west region men’s soccer rankings, the Montana State University Billings men’s soccer team remains in position to secure a first-ever berth into the national tournament with the poll released Wednesday. The Yellowjackets (8-4-3, 4-2-3 GNAC) jumped from the No. 8 position last week after defeating Concordia University 4-1 last Thursday and Seattle Pacific University 1-0 on Saturday at Yellowjacket Field. The regional rankings will ultimately determine the six-team field that comprises the NCAA west region playoffs, which will take place Nov. 10-12 at a site to be determined. This is the highest ranking for the ‘Jackets this season, who have three regular-season matches left on the schedule. The biggest game remaining kicks off Thursday at 8 p.m. Mountain time, as MSUB challenges undefeated Simon Fraser University, which is the No. 1 team in the region and No. 3 team in the NCAA as of Wednesday. statistics for the game, to be played at Terry Fox Field in Burnaby, British Columbia, will be available through MSUB’s Stretch Internet portal here. The ‘Jackets suffered a 1-0 loss to SFU earlier this season in the match between the teams played at Yellowjacket Field on Oct. 8. MSUB is currently in third place in the GNAC standings with 15 points, behind first-place SFU and second-place Northwest Nazarene University. After Thursday’s match against the Clan, MSUB will challenge Western Washington University on Saturday in Bellingham, Wash., at 8 p.m. Mountain time, before returning home to face Saint Martin’s University on Nov. 3 at 2 p.m. on Senior Day. --@MSUBSports | #JacketNation--
