Yellowjacket Men’s Basketball Rolls Into GNAC Play

Winning three games in-a-row away from home for the first time since the 2012-13 season, the MSUB men’s basketball team hit the ground running in the early going and enters GNAC play with a record of 4-3. The ‘Jackets will look to finish in the top-six during the 20-game conference schedule, and earn a berth into the GNAC Championships in March. Sophomore forward Preston Beverly has already earned one GNAC Player of the Week honor this season, and figures to rank among conference leaders in scoring and rebounding all year long. The Yellowjackets will also be featured on ROOT SPORTS in the GNAC Game of the Week, on Jan. 19 at Saint Martin’s University. WINTER 2016-17

MSUB Women’s Basketball Has Sights Set on Return to GNAC Tournament After advancing to the title game of the GNAC Championships tournament in 2015-16, the Yellowjacket women’s basketball team has its sights set on another top-six finish in the regular season to return to Lacey, Wash., for this year’s tournament. The ‘Jackets knocked off west-region rival Cal Poly Pomona 64-50 at home on Nov. 19, and will play 10 of their 20 conference games at home at Alterowitz Gym beginning Dec. 29. MSUB will be led this year by senior Tiana Hanson, who is averaging 16.4 points through her first eight games of the year. Junior point guard Rylee Kane is also projected to rank among GNAC leaders, as the three-year starter is chipping in 6.0 assists per game early on in the year as well. MSUB’s longest home stand of the year runs Feb. 16-25, when the ‘Jackets host four-straight GNAC opponents. The late-season stretch will be highlighted by the team’s annual Think Pink Night against Western Washington on Feb. 16, and Senior Night against Northwest Nazarene on Feb. 25. Tickets for all Yellowjacket home games are available by calling 406-657-2369 or at the door at all home games throughout the 2016-17 regular season. MSUB is continuously accepting donated items for the event, which will be held for the 20th straight year next fall. For more information on how to donate towards scholarships for Yellowjacket Athletics, call 406-657-2369 or visit www.msubsports.com. MORE --> 2016 Scholarship Dinner Auction Photos

MSUB Men’s Soccer Finishes Fall in Winning Fashion

Posting the fourth-best record in program history at 9-6-3, MSUB’s men’s soccer team continued its pattern of increasing wins each of the last three seasons. The Yellowjackets were a force offensively, ranking among west-region leaders with 40 goals scored and 36 assists. For the second-straight year, an MSUB forward earned GNAC Newcomer of the Year as senior Julien Dragomir led the conference with a dozen goals and added four assists in his first year with the ‘Jackets. Ranked as highly as sixth in the NCAA West Region this fall, the ‘Jackets are continuing to inch closer to a first-ever NCAA Division II playoff berth. MORE --> 2016 Men’s Soccer Season Recap

Women’s Soccer Gives Back to Community

Visiting the fourth-grade classroom of alumna Janae (Remsberg) Welch this fall, MSUB’s women’s soccer team continued its tradition of community service within Billings. Players interacted with the young students at Eagle Cliffs Elementary School, and helped with a Thanksgiving project during the week before the holiday.
