Recognizing the 20th anniversary of the MSUB men’s and women’s soccer programs, a special alumni game doubleheader will take place at Yellowjacket Field this weekend. BILLINGS, Mont. – In a special Montana State University Billings alumni event, the Yellowjacket men’s and women’s soccer teams will recognize their 20th anniversary by playing a pair of alumni games on Saturday at Yellowjacket Field. The women’s game will be played at 1 p.m. with the men’s game following at 3 p.m., and admission to the event is free of charge to all. “This event will be a great way to honor our alumni who have laid the foundation for what the MSUB soccer programs have become today,” commented Yellowjacket men’s soccer head coach Alex Balog. “With this event, players from the very first MSUB teams and players from the current teams will be able to mingle, get to know each other, and share stories. I want to thank both coaching staffs, the Alumni Association, and our athletic department’s leadership for helping to put this unique event together.” Men’s and women’s soccer were added as varsity sports at MSUB beginning in 1996, and have competed at the NCAA Division II level each of the past 20 seasons. Former NCAA D2 Player of the Year Sam Charles became the first men’s

soccer player to be inducted into MSUB’s Athletics Hall of Fame in January, and his season and career titles as scoring champion at MSUB and in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference still stand. Four women’s soccer alumni have garnered entrance into MSUB’s Hall of Fame, in Abby (Farmer) Wright, Margot (Merrill) Johnson, Dr. Megan (Plank) Holden, and Ally Stroup. “I am very excited about the alumni game and the 20th anniversary for our programs,” said MSUB women’s soccer head coach Wojtek Krakowiak. “All of the previous players and coaches deserve a lot of credit for laying down a great foundation, so that our players can be successful and enjoy their college careers. I am looking forward to seeing everyone and all of the families.” --@MSUBSports | #JacketNation--
