Senior Stormy Siemion finishes her time in a Yellowjacket uniform leading the team in kills, digs, and blocks in a conference match at Simon Fraser. BURNABY, B.C. – MSUB volleyball fell in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference road match 25-15, 25-19, and 25-14 at Simon Fraser Saturday. The Yellowjackets were limited to just .093 (32-21-118) hitting at the net. MSUB recorded 29 total assists and 38 digs. Simon Fraser hit .328 (50-12-116) with 50 assists and 61 digs. Stormy Siemion posted team-highs of nine kills, four blocks, and eight digs. Libero Kylee Cornelio tied the team-high of eight digs, adding in three assists. Ashlynn Ward posted five kills and four digs. Bre Rodrigues had six kills and Casey Rich five kills and two blocks. Simon Fraser’s Tessa May pounded home a match-high 13 kills with five blocks. Christine Howlett finished with 10 kills. Tamara Nipp had 45 assists and Alison McKay 19 digs.


In the opening set, a double block from Siemion and Miranda McConnell tied the frame at nine. The Clan began to pull away, scoring two points to every one from MSUB. Siemion pulled MSUB within five, 20-15, before SFU used five straight points capped by a block from Howlett and May to end the first frame. The Yellowjackets earned the first three points of the second set on a pair of kills from Ward and one from Rodrigues. The Clan let loose with a 5-1 run to take the lead 5-4 on a kill from Emma Jennings. Kills from Jensen and Siemion gave MSUB the lead back at 8-7. Simon Fraser pounded out to an 18-11 lead on a run of 11-3. A kill from McConnell positioned the ‘Jackets back into the frame at 17 points. SFU was able to finish on a kill from Howlett off an assist from Nipp. Simon Fraser took control of the final set early, rushing out to a 13-5 lead on a kill from Kirsten Pinkney. A block from McConnell and Siemion stopped the run. A pair of kills from McConnell began a short climb back, but great defense from McKay allowed the Clan to make several short attacks. May earned a kill for 20-11 as the Clan closed out the match scoring three of the last four points. With the win, Simon Fraser improves to 21-7 overall and 14-6 in the GNAC. MSU Billings ends its season at 7-23 overall and 5-15 in the GNAC.
