Part 2 of MSUB’s women’s basketball blog detailing the trip to Barcelona, Spain, features junior guard Lexi Prevost. May 18, 2017 | By: Lexi Prevost BARCELONA – For our second day in Spain, we went to the small, old fishing village of Tossa de Mar. Instead of our usual travel of greyhound bus, we took a large boat ride to this village with stops along the coast of the Mediterranean Sea. The boat had upper deck seating where we all had great views of the water and coastline. When we arrived at Tossa de Mar, the first sight we saw was the castle at the cove of the village. This castle was very impressive and gave us great views of the whole village and coast. After walking around the castle, we walked through the village through many shops and vendors.

After checking out the village, we made our way to a small restaurant for lunch. Thankfully, we had Tiana’s dad Chris to help us order some cheeseburgers and fries for lunch. Ketchup was a hard word to say in Spanish. After lunch, the group hit the beach for some sun and swimming in the water. The two Taylors’ GoPros were a big hit on this day. The waterproof feature gave the gals a lot of fun underwater pictures. Kevin’s two frisbees also were a big hit. Some girls stood on the beach and tossed the frisbees to the girls in the water. Most, if not all the girls, got pretty badly sunburned that day also. Brina and Carl put sunscreen pictures on their backs. Carl had a bee drawn on and Brina had a basketball and a peace sign. On the boat ride back, we all got to see dolphins swimming in the water. Everyone raced to the side of the boat screaming about seeing the dolphins, then Jeanann yelled that more were on the other side so everyone raced to the other side. It was super cool to see. Getting to go to Spain with all my closest pals was a great experience. Not only getting to spend that extra time with my friends but going to a different country that none of us had ever been to was a new, exciting experience. I know we all learned so much about traveling and the Spanish culture. It really made me want to continue to travel more and more around the world. Getting to play Spanish teams was also a great learning experience for us all. The rules were different and a little hard to get used to but I think it helped all of us grow as players as well. I can tell our team chemistry will be even better come next year from this special time we got to play together and just have fun with everyone.
