SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. – After shooting well last night against Cal Poly Pomona, the MSUB women’s basketball team were unable to find their groove in their game the next day, dipping behind sharply in the second quarter and falling by a final of 76-53 to NCAA west region opponent Cal State San Bernardino Saturday. The first quarter was evenly matched, ending with Cal State San Bernardino (2-0) up slightly 17-15, but a big second quarter run of 20-9 opened up a window against MSU Billings (1-3) that the Yellowjackets were unable to overcome in the second half.
“We got beat by a very good San Bernardino team tonight,” MSUB head coach Kevin Woodin said. “I was very impressed by their speed and offensive ability. They had good balance and ability to put pressure on us defensively. I felt we struggled offensively. We got caught up in their tempo and I thought we needed to be a little more disciplined in our efforts.” “We went into half-time down double-digits and just couldn’t recover from the deficit,” Woodin continued. “I think Rylee played her best game of the year, especially on the offensive end.” Sophomore point guard Rylee Kane had a big game for the ‘Jackets.
