MSUB women’s basketball coach Kevin Woodin announced his first recruit for the 2016-17 season.
Local Laurel, Mont., standout Abbie Lohof has signed a national letter of intent and will join the MSUB women’s basketball team in the fall of 2016. BILLINGS, Mont. – MSUB women’s basketball head coach Kevin Woodin has inked the first recruit for the incoming class of 2016-17. Abbigail Lohof from Laurel, Mont., is joining the Yellowjackets after a standout career at Laurel High School. The 6-foot forward has signed her national letter of intent to play basketball for the Yellowjackets and plans to earn her undergraduate in education with the intention of entering the teaching profession.
Abbigail Lohof Laurel, Montana Laurel High School 6–foot Forward In her three years at Laurel High school, Lohof has been a triple sport athlete and 9-time letterwinner. Competing at the Eastern A level, she has earned all-conference honors in volleyball, basketball, and track and field. Under Coach Nikki Burke, Lohof was a member of the 2012 State A champion volleyball squad. As a middle hitter, Lohof is the team captain and has been awarded academic all-state honors. Lohof is also the team captain of the basketball team under head coach Amber Griffith. The Locomotives were the 2013 State A basketball champions. For the past two seasons, the post player has averaged a double-double per game. Completing her high school athletic resume at Laurel, Lohof is also a track and field athlete under head coach Lisa Condon. Lohof has earned all-state track honors and is on pace to be a 12 letterwinner recipient, earning honors in all three competitive sports when she graduates in 2016. Coach Woodin on Lohof: “I am very excited to have Abbie Lohof join our Yellowjacket women’s basketball program. I believe she is a great fit for Abbie Lohof is a 6-foot post player from Laurel, Mont. our team and she will help us immediately. Abbie is very versatile and skilled, and plays extremely hard. She has been a leader at Laurel both on and off the court and I look forward to working with her.” Lohof on why she chose MSUB: “I really like the team atmosphere. The coaches and players made me feel welcome. It feels like a family. I look forward to playing for Coach Woodin and for MSUB.”
