About Yellowjacket Athletics Home of the Yellowjackets, the Montana State University Billings department of intercollegiate athletics supports 15 men’s and women’s varsity sports which compete in the NCAA at the Division II level. MSUB is one of 11 fulltime members of the Great Northwest Athletic Conference, which features 11 championships throughout each academic year. More than 250 student-athletes compete on MSUB’s teams, and members of Yellowjacket teams posted a collective 3.15 grade point average during the 2014-15 academic year. MSUB-sponsored varsity sports include men’s and women’s teams in basketball, cheer/stunt, cross-country, golf, soccer, indoor and outdoor track & field, as well as baseball, softball, and women’s volleyball. 2014-15 marked a historic year for Yellowjacket Athletics, as MSUB hosted three conference championship events and an NCAA Division II West Region Championship for the first time ever. The ‘Jackets welcomed more than 30 teams to Billings on Nov. 22, 2014 for the NCAA Division II West Region Championships at Amend Park, hosted the 2014-15 Men’s and Women’s GNAC Basketball Championships from March 4-7, 2015 at Alterowitz Gym, and capped off the year by hosting the 2015 GNAC Baseball Championships from May 7-8 at Dehler Park. MSUB also serves as the host of the largest NCAA Division II softball tournament, the Desert Stinger Classic, which was played for the sixth year in a row from Feb. 12-14, 2015 at Majestic Park in Las Vegas. The 2014-15 year also featured three All-American athletes from MSUB, including senior Kayleen Goggins (women’s basketball), junior Robert Peterson (men’s indoor track & field), and senior Brody Miller (baseball). Miller was also selected as the 2014-15 GNAC Male Athlete of the Year for all sports, just the second baseball player in the conference’s history to win the award, and the second student-athlete from MSUB to collect the honor as he joined women’s basketball star Bobbi Knudsen (2013-14). Capturing GNAC crowns during the 2014-15 year were MSUB’s baseball and softball teams. The Yellowjackets won the 2015 GNAC Softball Championships and advanced all the way to the semifinals of the NCAA Division II West Region Championships in May.

About Yellowjacket Athletics MSUB’s women’s soccer team also competed for a GNAC Championship title, finishing in second place in the conference standings and earning the No. 2 seed into the conference tournament in the fall of 2014. In men’s golf, senior Jake Hedge also represented the ‘Jackets at the NCAA Regional level, competing as an individual in the championships in Monterey Bay, Calif., from May 6-8, 2015. In 2013-14, the MSUB women’s basketball team made history by winning the 2013-14 Great Northwest Athletic Conference regular season title and advancing to the NCAA Division II west regional championship game. MSUB’s 2013-14 women’s basketball team joined the Yellowjackets’ 1998-99 squad as the only two in program history to advance to the NCAA regional title game. The latter continued on to the Elite Eight, marking the furthest-advancing MSUB team in the school’s history. In 2012, the MSUB softball team won the GNAC regular season title with a 32-18 overall record and earned hosting privileges for the 2013 conference softball tournament. The 2012 Yellowjacket men’s basketball team also earned a conference title, defeating the University of Alaska Anchorage 74-70 in the GNAC tournament championship game. Formerly known as Eastern Montana College, MSUB athletics stem back to the 1927-28 season, the year in which the university was founded. The Yellowjackets have competed in a number of different conferences throughout the years, and prior to the 1980-81 season the athletic department transitioned from the NAIA to competing at the NCAA Division II level. The MSUB Hall of Fame and Distinction inducted its inaugural class in 1990 and serves as a tribute towards influential figures on and off the court, in both current and retired sports.

Community Service Throughout the 2014-15 academic year, the MSUB women’s soccer team spent time in the local Billings community. From clinics with youth soccer players to reading and spending time with students at local elementary schools, the Yellowjackets recognized the importance of giving back to the community and will continue to support MSUB’s community service and engagement initiatives throughout the 2015-16 season.

Yellowjacket Athletic Director Krista Montague Krista (Fjelstad) Montague is entering her 13th year of employment at MSU Billings and her third as director of intercollegiate athletics. In 2014-15, MSUB hosted several marquee championship events for the first time ever. In November, MSUB welcomed the 2014 NCAA Division II Cross Country West Region Championships to Billings, which included participation from 32 teams across the region. MSUB also hosted the 2014-15 GNAC Basketball Championships and the 2015 GNAC Baseball Championships during the academic year. MSUB’s softball team advanced to the NCAA Division II West Region Championship game after winning the GNAC Championships title, and the Yellowjackets’ baseball team also claimed a conference title during 2014-15. During her first year at the helm of the athletic department, Montague successfully secured hosting responsibilities for the upcoming 2014 NCAA cross country west regional championships and 2014-15 Great Northwest Athletic Conference men’s and women’s basketball championships. Montague began her employment with MSUB in July of 2002 as the department’s development and marketing director. Shortly after being hired, she was appointed to the position of senior woman administrator, making her the highest-ranking female administrator in the athletic department. When Montana State University Billings announced the hiring of Montague as its new athletic director on May 10, 2013, it became the first NCAA institution in Montana to have a female athletic director. In 2005, the titles of assistant AD and NCAA compliance coordinator were added to her duties, while she still managed the corporate partnership program and special events for the department. In 2009, Montague was promoted to associate AD. As associate AD, her primary responsibilities included overseeing and managing NCAA II compliance for each of the 17 sports and co-ed cheer, as well serving as a crucial member of the athletics administration team and academic liaison between the different campus constituencies and athletics. Montague, a native of Eastern Montana, received her undergraduate degree in business administration with an option in marketing in 1999 from MSU Billings. Montague was a four-year letterwinner for the MSUB women’s basketball team and left the program with the school record for career free-throw percentage. As a senior, Montague helped MSU Billings to the West Region Championship and the program's first and only Elite Eight appearance in women’s basketball. Montague is a member of NACDA (National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics) and NACWAA (National Association of Collegiate Women Athletics Administrators), as well as various other state and local organizations. In 2011-12, she served on NACWAA’s Legislation & Governance Committee, and also served as a member of the NCAA II Softball West Regional Advisory Committee in 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2011. Before joining the MSU Billings athletic staff full time, Montague was the athletic department’s part-time corporate partnership director and held various positions for DD Marketing (Pueblo, Colo.), Norwest Bank, and Billings Clinic. Montague is currently pursuing a master's degree in public relations at MSU Billings. She lives in West Billings with her husband Brent and two daughters Shayla (14) and Allie (12). 8 | @MSUBWSoc | www.msubsports.com | #MSUBWSoc | 2015 Media Guide

Head Coach Wojtek Krakowiak 5th season | 41-21-9
Wojtek Krakowiak begins his sixth season at Montana State Billings and fifth as head coach of the Yellowjackets. Krakowiak carries an overall record of 41-21-9 during his four years at the helm of the program. In 2014, Krakowiak led the ‘Jackets to an 11-4-2 record and the No. 2 berth in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Women’s Soccer Championships by virtue of finishing in second place in the regular-season standings. MSUB allowed just 12 goals during the 2014 season, and Krakowiak was selected by his peers as the GNAC co-Coach of the Year. Under his guidance, six Yellowjackets earned all-conference honors and one earned all-region honors. MSUB was also selected as a recipient of the NSCAA Team Ethics Award. In 2013, the Yellowjackets narrowly missed the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Championships, finishing in fifth place in the regular season standings with a record of 6-8-2. Under Krakowiak’s guidance, MSUB has won 13-consecutive National Soccer Coaches Association of America Team Academic Awards. In 2012, he led MSU Billings to a 13-6-1 overall record and 8-5-1 GNAC record en route to an appearance in the inaugural GNAC Women’s Soccer Championships. The Yellowjackets’ 9-0 start was the second-best overall start and winning streak in the program’s history. In the Sept. 25 NSCAA/Continental Tire national poll MSUB climbed to a No. 23 national ranking and a No. 3 ranking in the west region. Leading the ‘Jackets to an 8-1 record in September, Coach Krakowiak earned the GNAC Coach of the Month award. For their efforts in 2012, the ‘Jackets saw seven student-athletes selected to the all-GNAC team, four NSCAA/Continental Tire all-West Region selections and three Daktronics all-West Region selections. MSUB also had a program-high 11 student-athletes selected to the 2012 GNAC all-academic list. Jennifer Larsen received 2012 CoSIDA Capital One Academic All-American first team honors, and Jaucelyn Richter received third team NSCAA Scholar All-American honors. As the interim head coach in 2011 he led the team to an 11-3-4 overall record, 8-2-4 GNAC record and a second-place conference finish. Krakowiak’s 2011 results mark the fewest losses and best winning percentage (.722) in the program’s history. Six Yellowjackets received all-conference honors during that season. As an assistant in 2010 Krakowiak helped the ‘Jackets to a 13-6-1 overall record, 9-5 GNAC record, a tie for second in the final conference standings and their first NCAA tournament appearance. MSUB advanced to the second round of the regional tournament, falling to Seattle Pacific 2-0. Prior to MSUB he served as the head coach at Division III Rutgers – Newark. Krakowiak, a native of Poland, brings a tremendous amount of experience to the program as a player and a coach. As the head coach at Rutgers-Newark, Krakowiak went 15-20-3. Krakowiak guided the program to its only postseason berth in its brief 10-year history in 2008 when it participated in the ECAC Metro Championship tournament. Prior to being named head coach for the Scarlet Raiders in November of 2007, Krakowiak was an assistant coach for one year with the men’s and women’s teams. As a player, he played at St. John’s University and Clemson University during his collegiate career. He was honored as the Soccer America Freshman of the Year at St. John’s after helping the Red Storm to the 1996 NCAA Championship. At Clemson, Krakowiak was the 1998 Hermann Trophy recipient (equivalent to the Heisman Trophy) and the ACC Player of the Year, as he scored 31 goals and had eight assists leading Clemson to the NCAA quarterfinals. After his collegiate career he was drafted 15th overall in the 1999 MLS College Draft by the San Jose Clash. In the 2000 MLS season he played 24 games and scored five goals for San Jose. In 2001 he was picked up by the Tampa Bay Mutiny, but injuries cut short his time there and his professional playing career came to an end. Staying active in the local community, Krakowiak has been coaching with the Magic City Soccer Club the past three years and has won the U-14 girls’ division 2010 Montana State Cup Championship. He also finished second with his U-16 girls’ team in the 2010 Montana State Cup Championship. Krakowiak, earned his Bachelor of Science in sports management from St. John’s University in 2003, and he holds several USSF and NSCAA licenses, including his ‘A’ license in the USSF. Furthermore, he is fluent in both Polish and Russian.

2015 Season Preview
Yellowjacket Women’s Soccer season preview After finishing the 2014 season in second place in the GNAC with a record of 11-4-2, the MSUB women’s soccer team is set to make another run into the conference championship tournament this fall. BILLINGS, Mont. – Making the most significant improvement of any team in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference a season ago, the Montana State University Billings women’s soccer team rolled to an 11-4-2 record and finished in second place while earning a berth in the 2014 GNAC Championships. Looking to build off the momentum from last year’s championship tournament run, the Yellowjackets return several key experienced players and a strong group of newcomers as the 2015 fall season approaches. “Last season was a good year but this is a new season and we will need to start fresh,” said 2014 GNAC coCoach of the Year Wojtek Krakowiak. “We are excited for the upcoming season and will be fighting to reach the GNAC Championships again.” Returning for her fourth season with the Yellowjackets will be senior captain Katlyn Lokay, who plays a crucial role as a diverse midfielder and defender for MSUB. Lokay scored four goals – including one game-winner – while starting all 17 games and logging 1,527 minutes primarily as a midfielder in 2014. Entering her final college season, Lokay has scored seven goals and added three assists throughout her career. She was a second-team all-GNAC selection a season ago. “We are excited that Katlyn is a senior captain for us this season,” Krakowiak said. “I think she is an awesome person and definitely leads by example on the field. I am very positive that she will do a great job as a senior captain and lead us throughout the whole season.” Also serving as captains this season will be midfielder Dana Lubieniecki and defender Kari Kastelic. Lubieniecki scored a game-winning goal and had a pair of assists while starting 14 matches and playing in all 17 as a sophomore in 2014.

2015 Season Preview En route to earning second-team all-conference honors, Kastelic played every minute of the season (1,590) as a central defender, and also pushed forward to score a pair of goals including a game-winner. Now with a year under her belt after transferring from New Mexico Highlands University, Kastelic will be called upon to fill an important leadership role as the ‘Jackets look to replicate their performance of just 12 goals allowed last year. “We are definitely excited that Dana and Kari are our captains, as they are both passionate and committed to MSUB,” Krakowiak commented on the juniors. “They both did an awesome job during the spring, and grew a little bit into their leadership roles. They will definitely help us to go deep in the GNAC.” Another newcomer to the MSUB program last year was Elizabeth Howard, who started four matches and played in eight before a season-ending knee injury. After making a full recovery in the offseason, Howard figures to see increased minutes in the midfield for the Yellowjackets as a senior in 2015. 2015 Junior Captain Kari Kastelic. “It’s awesome to see Izzi healthy,” said Krakowiak. “She has been working really hard throughout the spring and summer, and she looks very healthy. She’s one of the seniors, and to have her back on the field as one of the leaders is very instrumental to our team. She definitely brings a lot of passion to the game, and will be one of our leaders as well.” Seniors Teegan Koster and Ashely Marra will also factor in for the ‘Jackets this season, taking on roles on the defensive unit and in the midfield, respectively. Each now in their fourth season in the program, Koster saw action in 10 games while Marra played in all 17 and had a pair of big assists during the 2014 campaign. “Ashely and Teegan will definitely help us being experienced players,” Krakowiak said. “They are both seniors, have been to two GNAC tournaments, and they know exactly what it takes to get there. I’m excited for them and looking forward to coaching them their senior year.” Taking on an increased load after the loss of Howard last season, then-sophomore Brittney Greenback stepped into the MSUB midfield and started a dozen games while playing in 16. Greenback is now an experienced veteran on the squad who will be looked upon to solidify MSUB’s midfield and bolster its defense. “Brittney had a very good, healthy spring,” Krakowiak said. “She scored a couple of goals and sits really well for us as a holding midfielder. She is very aggressive going forward and is dangerous with her shooting ability.” Breaking into the college game quickly as a freshman last year, Jessica Spang made a name for herself with two goals and three assists while seeing action in all 17 games. The Skyview High School graduate started 10 contests and passed the 1,000-minute barrier, while placing four of her 11 shots on target. “Jessica had a strong freshman year,” said Krakowiak. “She is the kind of person who can take a lot of responsibilities on her shoulders, and it is awesome for us as a coaching staff to have a player like that. Jessica never complains, does what she is supposed to do and more, and is a very intelligent and smart player on the ball and off the ball.” 14 | @MSUBWSoc | www.msubsports.com | #MSUBWSoc | 2015 Media Guide
2015 Season Preview Eleven freshmen and two juniors comprise the new cast for the Yellowjackets in 2015, as MSUB added depth and strong potential at every position on the field. Headlining the cast is junior transfer Hayley Warren, a forward from Maple Valley, Wash., who led the Northwest Athletic Conference in scoring in each of her two seasons at Shoreline Community College. In two seasons, Warren scored 49 goals and added 20 assists while being selected as the NWAC’s Most Valuable Player in 2014. “We are definitely excited about Hayley coming here, as she had a really good career at Shoreline,” Krakowiak said regarding his lone transfer for the 2015 season. “Hayley is a target player for us because of her size, and she can hold ball and change the game because of her physical presence on the field. We are looking forward to coaching her and having her for the next two years.”
2015 Senior Captain Katlyn Lokay.
Returning to the program in 2015 is junior Lindsay Lucore, who broke in with the Yellowjackets during the 2013 season before sitting out in 2014. Lucore will provide further depth as a defender this season.
“We are happy that Lindsay is back with the team,” said Krakowiak. “She did really well in the spring and definitely clicked with the team. She is very smart and composed as a defender and very skillful on the ball.” Joining Warren on the offensive front as newcomers will be Bailey Griglio, Alycia Wright, and Jordan Devoto. All three freshmen will factor into the conversation as forwards, as MSUB will look to build on its strong goal total of 25 from last fall. “Those three will definitely bring a spark to our offense,” said Krakowiak. “They are offensive players and are all very smart on the ball with very good soccer IQs. Hopefully they will give us some depth in our offense.” MSUB will also welcome intriguing talent on the defensive side of the ball, with three defenders and one midfielder among the robust freshman class. Dariann Oaks, Kienna Ogden, and Sarah Coghlan will each be in the mix to join MSUB’s defensive unit, while Allie Trizna will provide further depth in the midfield. The Yellowjackets will be in search of replacements for outside backs Jennifer Johnson and Jessie Mancilla, who each played every minute of the 2014 season on MSUB’s defense. “Those four players are definitely very competitive and strong on defense,” Krakowiak said of his freshman defenders. “Each of them brings different aspects to the game, and overall we want to have a strong defense. We are very confident that they will step up right away, adjust to our system and to our two center backs. We want them to learn the system quickly so we can gel together as a back four. I’m positive they have the skills to do that.”

2015 Season Preview Where 2014 breakout senior goalkeeper Krystal Daniels left a void between the posts, four players are set to compete for minutes this fall. Sophomore Jordyn England and freshmen Chloe Hopps, Kaylee Praska, and Lili Delgadillo will each sport the gloves this season and protect MSUB’s net. “We are excited to have four goalkeepers,” said Krakowiak. “There will be a very healthy partnership between them and hopefully they’ll be able to push each other and help each other. At this point all of them have to prove themselves. We are very excited about that and they will compete each day and slowly get better and better during our training.” MSUB’s first regular season game is set for Sept. 3 against Carroll College at Yellowjacket Field. The Yellowjackets will then travel to Bismarck, N.D., to challenge the University of Mary before a trip to California to face San Francisco State and the Academy of Art.
2015 Sophomore Jessica Spang.
With new GNAC member Concordia University (Ore.) joining the league this season, the ‘Jackets will play a modified conference schedule of 12 games. MSUB will play three in a row at home from Sept. 19-26, two more on Oct. 15 and 17, and its final home game of the year on Halloween for Senior Day. If the ‘Jackets can replicate last season’s performance and finish in the top-four in the regular season standings, they will advance to the GNAC Championships, scheduled for Nov. 5 and 7 hosted by Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, B.C. “We definitely have a challenging schedule with Concordia coming in, and our trips to Mary and California,” said Krakowiak. “We are excited to be playing some new teams, and we believe our three preseason scrimmages will get us ready for the season. All four of our nonconference games will be challenging ones. Any time we play a new team, it is always exciting, and California should be a good bonding trip for our players. After that, our GNAC season is starting, and we are looking forward to coaching the team and to a successful season. We will need to be ready for every team in the GNAC.” All of MSUB’s home games and select road contests will feature live video streaming and live statistics available online via MSUB’s Stretch Internet portal.

2014 Season Review
Season Review: MSUB returns to GNAC Championships, rebounds into 2nd-place finish November 13, 2014 After missing the GNAC Championships in 2013, the MSUB women’s soccer team responds with a resounding, 114-2 second-place finish and returns to the tournament in 2014. BILLINGS, Mont. – A fifth-place finish during the 2013 regular season meant the Montana State University Billings women’s soccer team stayed home and watched as the four teams in front of it competed in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Championships. This season it was a different story. The Yellowjackets rallied behind 2014 GNAC co-Coach of the Year Wojtek Krakowiak, who led his team to an 11-4-2 record and a second-place finish in the conference to return to the GNAC Championships this season. It was there that MSUB fell to eventual tournament champion Seattle Pacific 1-0, but the overwhelming success the team experienced this season will make it one to remember. “It was definitely a very exciting season, as we finished second in the conference and made a trip to the GNAC tournament,” Krakowiak said. “I am very proud of the team, and we were very disciplined and consistent this year. The girls showed a lot of passion in the games and in training, and we definitely had a very good team chemistry this year.” MSUB’s trademark in 2014 was its defensive unit, a core of four defenders and a goalkeeper who each played every minute of the season and allowed just 12 goals total. Seniors Jennifer Johnson and Jessie Mancilla, sophomores Haley McFarlane and Kari Kastelic, and goalkeeper Krystal Daniels each started all 17 matches and never came out, helping the team to a GNAC second-best goals-against average of 0.68.

2014 Season Review McFarlane, a first-team all-conference selection, returned to the field as a captain after missing the entire 2013 season with an injury. Back on the pitch, she not only anchored MSUB as a central defender, but she pushed forward to score two goals including a game-winner on a diving header against Saint Martin’s on Oct. 23. “Haley had a fantastic season from not being able to play for 16 months to coming back and being absolutely outstanding as a defender,” Krakowiak said. “She was a big part of our eight shutouts, and being a captain she did a great job of leading the girls on the field. We always know what we are going to get, she is very consistent, and is not scared of playing in big games.” In her first season in the program, Kastelic earned second-team all-GNAC honors as she too was a commanding force in the center defensively. The Phoenix, Ariz., native also scored two goals on the season, one of which counted as a game-winner. “Kari was a huge addition to our team because of her ability to be very physical on the field and her size and strength,” Krakowiak said. “She was able to win a lot of balls in the air, and like Haley she is very consistent. To get that out of our two center backs is huge. She’s a very smart, physical player, and she also scored two goals.”
Sophomore Kari Kastelic. Johnson, who was an honorable mention all-GNAC pick, and Mancilla, finished their four-year careers as outside backs for the Yellowjackets. Johnson tallied a pair of assists on the season. “Jenny and Jess had the senior seasons they wanted to have, starting every game, and playing every minute,” Krakowiak said. “They were both very consistent and always showed up for each game. They are awesome leaders on and off the field, and knew what we needed to do to get back into the GNAC. I am very proud of them, and they earned every minute this season.” Posting eight shutouts on the season, Daniels was the rock behind the defense in goal, and she made 40 saves for a percentage of .769. In the net for every minute, Daniels ranked No. 3 in the conference with a goals-against average of 0.68. “Krystal was outstanding, and made some very crucial saves throughout the season for us,” said Krakowiak. “She kept us in so many games, made some awesome saves, and she’s also an awesome person. Krystal cares a lot about the girls on the team, and we couldn’t ask for anything more from our goalkeeper.”

2014 Season Review Offensively, MSUB benefitted from a trio of all-conference players in Alisa Sagdahl, Katlyn Lokay and Chelsea Shuman. Sagdahl led the team in both goals (7) and assists (5), and her 19 total points ranked fourth in the GNAC. The junior was a first-team all-conference selection, as four of her seven goals counted as game-winners. “Alisa definitely improved from last year, and she is dangerous on the ball,” Krakowiak said. “She is a very smart, dynamic player and she is very creative with the ball at her feet.” A second-team all-GNAC pick, Lokay scored four times for MSUB and started all 17 games as a central midfielder. She logged more than 1,500 minutes, and recorded one game-winning goal as a junior captain. “Katlyn is another outstanding captain who leads by example,” Krakowiak said. “With the position she plays it is sometimes hard to get noticed because she sits in middle, and sometimes doesn’t get credit. Katlyn was still able to score four goals, which is outstanding for playing that position and not always being in front of the goal. She stepped up when we needed her to, and had huge goals against Seattle Pacific and Central Washington.” Also in the midfield, Shuman took home honorable mention all-conference plaudits after scoring four goals and adding two assists for 10 points on the season. Shuman tied for the team lead with 45 shots, placing 23 on target for a shots-on-goal percentage of .511. “Chelsea had a very exciting season, and she came out really big for us at the end,” Krakowiak said. “She filled in the big responsibility of the captaincy role very well, and she was very loyal and committed to the program. Chelsea helped us achieve the goals we set out to in the beginning of the year and take us to the conference tournament.”
Senior Chelsea Shuman. The ‘Jackets received a promising freshman campaign from Jessica Spang, who scored a pair of goals and added three assists in her first collegiate season. The Billings native played in all 17 matches, logging upwards of 1,000 minutes. “Jessica had a good season, and it is definitely hard as a freshman to come in and contribute,” Krakowiak said. “She took the challenge well, made the best out of her time on the field, and gave it her all. Jessica has an awesome work ethic, distributes the ball very well, sees the gaps, and calms the game for us.” Key facilitators in the midfield, Dana Lubieniecki and Ashely Marra also contributed significantly with a pair of assists each. Lubieniecki also notched one goal – a game-winner – and started 14 matches while playing in all 17.

2014 Season Review “Dana had an awesome goal against Western Oregon,” Krakowiak said. “She always looks for the through balls, and she is very intelligent on the ball. She was more comfortable in her position this year. “Ashely is a very aggressive player, and also had some big assists this year,” said Krakowiak. “She is very fast, and she and Dana push each other and have a healthy competition.” Joining Lubieniecki and Marra having played in every game, sophomore Amanda Perri scored a game-winning goal and earned 11 starts this season. Senior Agen Heffernan was MSUB’s other goal scorer this season, as her finish against Central Washington counted as the game-winner on Sept. 25. “Amanda is a very technical player who loves the ball at her feet,” Krakowiak commented. “She is very intelligent and creative, and her goal against Seattle Pacific was just an excellent run and finish. “In her fifth year, Agen scored an unbelievable goal against Central, and every time she stepped on the field she was buzzing,” said Krakowiak. “We couldn’t have asked for anything more from her, and we are very proud of what she’s done for the program.” Stepping into a starting role midway through the season, Brittney Greenback held strong for the ‘Jackets defensively in the midfield. After junior Elizabeth Howard sustained a season-ending injury eight games into the season, Greenback started 12 contests and made her presence known in the middle of the field. “We are very excited that we will have Izzi back next year, and up until the injury she was very good for us in the middle,” said Krakowiak. “She is a very technical player, her passing and shooting are excellent, and she brings aggressiveness to the team.
Sophomore Brittney Greenback.

2014 Season Review “Brittney did well this year and is very good on the ball distributing,” said Krakowiak. “She has an awesome shot, reads the game very well, and earned her twelve starts.” Overall the ‘Jackets outscored opponents 25-12 this season and held teams to GNAC lows in shots (123) and shots on goal (53). Against Northwest Nazarene on Oct. 2, the Yellowjackets made history by becoming just the fifth team ever in the GNAC to hold an opponent without a shot. After being picked to finish tied for fifth place in the 2014 GNAC preseason coaches’ poll, MSUB surprised the conference by jumping up the table and propelling itself into the tournament. Krakowiak recognized the presence of first-year assistant coach Stephen Cavallo, who played an invaluable role throughout the year. “Stephen has done an unbelievable job for us, and he does a lot of things that go unnoticed,” said Krakowiak. “He is very committed to the program, passionate about MSUB women’s soccer and he’s a very smart and knowledgeable coach. It’s not just one person making the decisions, there are two of us. We had to make some crucial decisions this year and with his help, we ended up with the season we had. The girls really appreciate him, and I am very excited to have him as a coach to help me with the program.” RECORD BOOK: Sagdahl is now in the top-10 in career goals with 13 in her first three seasons…Sagdahl’s four game-winning goals tied for the most ever in a single season…Sagdahl’s seven career game-winning goals are seventh-most in MSUB history…Daniels’s 14 career wins are third-most all-time…Daniels’s 10 career shutouts are second-most all-time, as is her single-season 0.68 goals-against average…the quintet of MSUB defenders tied for sixth-most minutes played in a single season…the team’s 12 goals allowed tied for the fewest ever in a single season…the team’s midseason, four-match stretch of shutouts resulted in a sixth-best 363 consecutive minutes without allowing a goal. COACH KRAKOWIAK: In his fourth season in charge of the program, Krakowiak is now No. 2 all-time in wins for MSUB with 41…he is tied with nine-year veteran Don Trentham for conference victories with 30…through 71 games he holds an overall record of 41-21-9 with a .641 winning percentage…in conference play he holds a record of 30-18-8 for a winning percentage of .607…Trentham has the all-time wins record with 85 in 170 games (85-75-10)…Krakowiak became the second-ever MSUB coach to win GNAC Coach of the Year honors, joining Trentham who won after the 2010 season.

Yellowjacket Soccer Field
The MSU Billings soccer field, known as Yellowjacket Soccer Field, is located on the College of Technology campus and is home to both the men's and women's soccer teams. The field is located at the corner of Shiloh and Central Avenue in west Billings. The field underwent a renovation prior to the 2007 season as a new artificial turf playing surface was installed in place of the original natural grass. A new press box, scoreboard and fence were added to the complex in seasons after, with the new 600-seat bleachers being installed following the completion of the 2011 season.
