Playing her final two seasons with the Yellowjackets, senior Elizabeth Howard will transition into a coaching role for MSUB’s women’s soccer program. BILLINGS, Mont. – After completing her senior season with the Montana State University Billings women’s soccer team last fall, Elizabeth Howard will join the Yellowjackets’ coaching staff as an assistant. Howard, a midfielder from Bristol, England, transferred to MSUB in the fall of 2014 after playing two seasons at Arkansas State University. “I am extremely happy that Izzi has joined our coaching staff,” commented MSUB head coach Wojtek Krakowiak. “Izzi brings a lot of soccer knowledge to our program from the experience she has gained from playing both in England and the United States. This is a great opportunity for her to start her coaching career at MSUB and we are thrilled that she will continue to be a part of the women’s soccer program.” Howard started all 17 matches as a senior this fall, and scored her first career goal on Sept. 19 at home against Northwest Nazarene University. She also had one assist this season, and took 26 shots with nine landing on target.
Playing primarily as a center midfielder, Howard totaled 1,429 minutes for an average of 84.06 per game. She also took 46 of MSUB’s 54 corner kicks, and played a full 90 minutes on nine occasions. Howard returned to the pitch last fall after suffering a torn ACL midway through her junior year at MSUB. In 2014, she started four games and played in eight before the seasonending injury. Howard helped the Yellowjackets reach the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Championships in each of her two seasons at MSUB, and the Yellowjackets totaled a combined record of 19-11-4 in her two seasons. She will join Krakowiak and assistant coach Stephen Cavallo beginning this spring for the Yellowjackets.
