Bailey Bomar finishes the race second for the Yellowjackets as the MSUB women’s cross country team completes a 5.8K course at Buffalo Ranch in Colorado. BOULDER, Colo. – The MSUB women’s cross country team competed at the Rocky Mountain Shootout hosted by the University of Colorado Saturday on the course at the Buffalo Ranch. Junior Bailey Bomar had her best finish as a Yellowjacket with a second place team result for Montana State Billings. The graduate of Billings West High School, covered the 5.8K course in 25:22 for 48th place overall. Montana State University Billings was led by senior Rio Frame finishing in 37th place in 24:36. Host Colorado took the top four spots with the team’s fifth runner placing sixth to win the team competition. Erin Clark was the individual winner and the only competitor to finish under the 20 minute mark at 19:54.
In third for the Yellowjackets, Nikki Aiken placed 55th in 25:39. MSUB’s fourth and fifth runners continue to close the gap on the top trio. Freshman Lydia Foster was 62nd in 26:18 followed by Catrina Schuchard at 67th in 26:48. Sarah Beatty was a step behind Schuchard in 68th in 25:59. Ella McKenzie (77th, 27:56) and Krysten Mossburg (84th, 29:37) completed MSUB’s team. “I though Bailey ran a really good race today,” MSUB head coach Dave Coppock said. “The team worked hard today on a tough course. Our fourth and fifth runners Lydia and Catrina are really starting to move up on the team which is great to see.” THE BUZZ: Bomar named the St. Vincent Healthcare Athlete of the Day. UP NEXT: MSU Billings will host the Yellowjacket Open on Saturday, Oct. 8, on the course at Riverfront Park. The women will run a 5K distance beginning at 10 a.m. --@MSUBSports | #JacketNation--
