The 2015 MSUB women’s cross country teams was honored by the USTFCCCA for academic excellence.
The MSUB women’s cross country team is being recognized by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association for academic excellence. NEW ORLEANS – The MSU Billings women’s cross country team was recognized Friday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) as a Division II Scholar Team by the governing body of collegiate running. Montana State University Billings was one of a 137 schools across the nation earning the honor. MSUB head coach Dave Coppock saw the Yellowjacket women's team post a cumulative 3.42 grade point average.
In order to receive the honor, teams must have compiled a cumulative grand point average of at least 3.0 and must have scored at an NCAA Division II regional meet to qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic awards. Other Great Northwest Athletic Conference women’s teams named to the list were Seattle Pacific (3.56), Central Washington (3.54), and Alaska Anchorage (3.32). The 2015 west region meet was contested on the Western Oregon University campus at the Ash Creek Preserve. The 2016 NCAA Division II west region race will make a return trip to Billings, Mont., to be run on the course at the Amend soccer complex. MSU Billings was awarded hosting duties for the 2014 and 2016 seasons. The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) is a non-profit professional organization representing cross country and track & field coaches of all levels. The organization represents over 8,000 coaching members encompassing 94% of all NCAA track & field programs (DI, DII, and DIII) and includes members representing the NAIA as well as a number of state high school coaches associations. --@MSUBSports | #JacketNation--
