BILLINGS, Mont. – The MSU Billings women’s cross country team placed third during the Yellowjacket Open at Riverfront Park on Saturday. I thought overall the women competed well against tough teams. They made some really good
progress and it was a chance for them to run some fast times. This should get us started for the rest of the season, heading into the championship meets.” MSUB Billings was up against quality competition at the home meet as the University of Mary is ranked No. 3 in the latest United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association national poll. Black Hills State is regionally ranked No. 9 in the NCAA Division II South Central. The No. 3 Marauders placed runners in 1-2-4-5-6 for an almost perfect score of 18. Ida Narbuvoll won the individual title in 17:20. Teammate Kate Fox was second in 17:57. The reigning national champion and two-time Griak title winner, Alexis Zeis, did not compete on the course Saturday. From Black Hills State, Christine Thorn was third, crossing the finish line in 18:04. The Yellow Jackets were second in the team standings, finishing with 47 points (3-7-9-12-16). Rocky Mountain College was fourth (109 points) and Montana Western finished fifth (115). THE BUZZ: Schuchard named the St. Vincent Healthcare Athlete of the Day.
