The MSUB volleyball team has added Carly Wehling to its coaching staff.
Newly appointed MSUB head volleyball coach Casey Williams announces West Alabama alumna Carly Wehling as an assistant coach to the Yellowjacket staff. BILLINGS, Mont. – MSUB head volleyball coach Casey Williams has announced a new addition to the Yellowjacket staff. Carling Wehling is set to join the program as an assistant coach and will begin her duties on Apr. 1, Williams announced Wednesday. “Carly is a tremendous addition to the MSUB volleyball family,” Williams said. “Carly is an energetic coach, and will bring a lot of excitement and knowledge to the MSUB volleyball program.” For the Yellowjacket volleyball program, Wehling’s primary duties will include recruiting, running individual offensive sessions, student-athlete development, coordinating summer camps, and assisting in travel preparations for the MSUB team.
Wehling most recently served as the graduate assistant coach for Waldorf University volleyball in Forest City, Iowa. A native of Readlyn, Iowa, Wehling began her collegiate playing career in 2010 at Indian Hills Community College in Ottumwa, Iowa. Her sophomore season, Wehling was named to the National Junior College Athletic Association Division I Region XI First Team. In 2012, Wehling transferred to the University of West Alabama where she finished her career competing at the NCAA Division II level. At UWA, Wehling played for two years with MSUB Coach Williams. Her senior season, Wehling moved from outside hitter to become the team’s primary setter. Even with the switch, Wehling finished her 2013 campaign leading the conference in service aces (.50), and was sixth in assists (6.15 pg). For her performance, Wehling was named a first team all-Gulf South Conference selection. Wehling began her coaching career at the club volleyball level in Alabama. She served as an assistant coach for the Club Crimson 16-2 team in 2014 and was named head coach of Club Crimson’s 16-1 team in 2015. During the 2014 season, Wehling took over as head coach of Southern Academy’s volleyball team in Greensboro, Ala. The Cougars’ varsity team placed eighth in the Alabama Independent School Association Class 1A state tournament and the junior varsity squad took third. Wehling graduated in 2015 from the University of West Alabama earning a bachelor’s degree in physical education with a sports management emphasis. At Waldorf College, she is currently pursuing a master’s of science degree in organizational leadership with a concentration in sports management.

Go Yellowjackets!” The Yellowjackets return nine players to a team that finished the 2015 season with an overall record of 6-23 and 5-15 in Great Northwest Athletic Conference matches. MSU Billings opens its 2016 schedule Sept. 1, at BYU Hawaii.
