THE URBAN PLANNING MOVEMENT Our story in Sobro began over 100 years ago. Since 1853, Luckett & Farley has been responsible for designing much of Louisville’s urban fabric; most notably the twin spires of Churchill Downs. The firm traces its Louisville development roots to the founding members of Louisville’s original Urban Planning Movement at the start of the 20th century. Among Louisville’s first sections of urban sprawl included the neighborhood south of Broadway (Sobro). Today, over 100 years later, Luckett & Farley’s footprints in Sobro are still present with several buildings showcasing the original character of the neighborhood.

SOBRO – SOUTH OF BROADWAY LOUISVILLE Sobro is nestled between the districts of Downtown Louisville and Old Louisville. Its borders are defined by Broadway to the north, I-65 to the east, Kentucky Avenue to the south and 8th Street to the west. *60% of Sobro is comprised of parking lots, which inhibits connectivity, sense of place and interest.
