Our nationally recognized theater program for all ages, renamed MTCplayground, remains at the heart of our organization. Beginning with our adaptation of of Anton Chekhov’s Three Sisters, MTCperformance presents innovative theater, dance, and music for adult audiences. MTCfilm launches with a screening of the same movie that opened our venue in 1946: Blue Skies, starring Bing Crosby and Fred Astaire. A season of independent, art, documentary, and family cinema that contextualizes our live performances follows. MTCtraining offers professional development opportunities for performers, theater technicians, and arts administrators as well as classes for non-professionals who want to explore their creativity. I am extremely grateful for the generous support The PlayGround Theatre has received over the years, and I look forward to growing our family as we embark on new adventures as Miami Theater Center. I hope you will join us for the fun!

Imaginarium is a dance-theater piece narrating the story of Ruben, a visual artist who has decided to abandon his tormented life by taking refuge within his own imagination. Ruben creates a world for himself that parallels reality, removed from all material and emotional attachments. $20
Christina Alexander shares stories of love in America and the country’s struggle to understand or accept that different doesn’t mean wrong. One actor plays eight characters who deliver 16 monologues in a multimedia work that offers varied perspectives of what and who defines love in America. $20
In this modern reinterpretation of the “one-man show,” Pioneer Winter re-examines faith in religion and culture from the vantage points of sexuality, age and queerness. Video installation, tap dancing and stripping draw the audience into an intimate and interactive dialogue blending humor, isolation and anecdote. $20
RED is a dance-theater piece that deconstructs and reinterprets the story of Ruby Bridges, whose parents heeded the NAACP’s call for children to desegregate elementary schools in the South. Bridges later became the subject of Norman Rockwell’s painting The Problem We All Live With. $20
