WELCOME Subdivision matters for Greeneville and for Greeneville’s Urban Growth Area, which extends beyond the city limits, are administered by the Greeneville Regional Planning Commission, whose members are appointed by the Board of Mayor and Aldermen. Mosheim and Baileyton are governed by their own boards who meet once a month. Mosheim has a mayor and four aldermen, and Baileyton has a mayor, a vice mayor and three aldermen, all serving four-year terms. Both towns have appointed planning commissions. Artist Statement: In heartache I seek belonging. The fast pace of the world I’m bonded to, the walls and computer screen, the schedules and alarms, finding a meaningful work conversation over the loud hum of the air conditioning unit… my race to make my family a meal, break up child fights, my inner fight to slow down and actually connect with the kids before I am back on the work clock… My heart aches and it seeks belonging in this foreign world. In past lives I may have been a pine twig, a grass leaf, or red clay. I would witness the day to day happenings of the forest, transform and be transformed by the environment and crucially belong to my forests. Each of these transform and are transformed by their surroundings. In my search of belonging, I visit the forests and await my own transformation in stillness and consciousness. And, in elusive moments of pure presence, I find home in the sounds of birds, creatures, critters, creeks, water droplets, breeze sweeping leaves and canopy tree tops. I belong to the smells of wet and fertile dirt, sweet pine and honey suckles, and I arrive at my 8

Natalie Richardson Artero Laux is a Bolivian American artist based in Tennessee. She works full time at a public health non-profit organization and is mother of Ani and Clara. She enjoys painting at sunrise and during her monthly plein air painters club gathering, brought by the Greeneville Arts Council.
