Dear members, Mt Roskill Multi-Ethnic Community Toy Library will be celebrating its 1st birthday in August. How exciting! To celebrate this, we are planning to have some special add-ons during our 14th, 15th, and 21st Aug open sessions, including a birthday-themed photo booth.
In May, we held our first event—the “Play Day,” hosting 16 families with kids to have fun in our toy library. It was awesome to meet so many happy faces! Thank you for all those who came to make such wonderful memories with us. We received fantastic feedback about the day: -- “It was great! My child and I enjoyed our time at the play day event! Loved exploring the different toys with my child” --“We had fun! Especially the part where the kids got to play outside on all the toys outside. Good range of toys to play around” The families and kids had so much fun that we have been asked to host another “Play Day!”We will be hosting more regular events for our members to meet up during summer time, may be even in a park or reserve. Keep an eye out for more information in our newsletters. If you have any suggestions, we would love to hear from you as well.
Let’s make it safe for our children during toy library visits.
Please do not take toys from the shelves for your children to play with while in the library. Please ensure that any toys your child may remove from the shelves are checked and returned to the appropriate shelf and/or container. For all members’ safety, children who ride on toys must be supervised by parent Plastic bags must be kept away from children. Toys with small parts, or parts that can easily break off, should be kept away from children under 3 years of age.
This is the member’s responsibility and the Toy Library accepts no responsibility for injuries received from toys, or their packaging. Most packaging should state the appropriate age group for the toy. If you are unsure, please ask the Librarian.

All of the entrants will receive a prize for their participation.
Toys are available for party hire now. Hire rate is based on either per week or per weekend basis. For our annual members who would like to hire toys for their children’s birthday, the $2 admin fee and $200 bond will be waived. However, any toy on top of the quota for annual members will be charged at party hire rate. Cancellation of prebooked items is required five working days prior to the issue date, otherwise $10 booking fee will be incurred. Please see our toy librarian to find out more if you are going to host a party.
We are pleased to announce we have received funding from the TODD Foundation and Lottery Grants Board recently. Thank you to our supporters who keep us running and growing.
10 Green bottles Sing along to the song of “Ten Green Bottles”, be the first to match your ten green bottle cards with ten dotted numbered cards to win this fun bottle recycling game. It is good for counting, number recognition, memory skills, and recycling concept education. From the boys kept “stealing” the bottles on the Play Day, you can tell how popular it is.
Thomas Twisting Tower Tracks with Domino Our member, Katie, told me her son played the Thomas Twisting Tower Tracks with Domino. What a creative way to play. The aim of the game is to place the Dominoes in a row in front of the Thomas Twisting Tower Tracks, and send Thomas down the track and watch the domino effect! Isn’t it amazing?
