Editor’s Letter

from the changes in the season and the fluctuations that autumn brings about: physical changes experienced, preparing children for school and scholastic health. The school’s preventive health dossier is an indicator of the evaluation of the state’s evolving policies and the community’s ability to deal with them. We explore this matter in our current issue.

The third issue of Health & Wellness represents a new stage in the mission of the University and the objectives behind the establishment of the National Wellness Network (NWN). We are confident that the concept of wellness is becoming more rooted in both the individual and society; for which the institutions of higher education in Lebanon also present the perfect promoters.

The scholastic health is a domestic issue which keeps gaining momentum on the Lebanese scene. Health & Wellness focused in this issue not only on the domestic and international health-related topics, but also on education and how important it is to create healthier environments to enhance the learning experience of children in Lebanon. Preventive medicine and active lifestyles are stressed upon in multiple articles as the best way to deal with current and anticipated glitches.

Dr. Hatem Alami

on sports within the spirit of leadership that characterizes young people. A pioneer in the field is the Beirut Marathon Association and the joint programs with MUBS and various entities to promote a healthier community.

The experience of collaboration between Stanford University and MUBS is a bright chapter reflecting the leading position of higher education in Lebanon and points to the importance of such new initiatives to bring about the spirit of innovation and openness under the manifestations of the globalization era and the digital revolution.

The initiative to write in for our magazine, still in its early stages is quite significant and deserves praise for all those who have taken this initiative with us. A special word of appreciation also goes to everyone who contributed in the preparation and production of this issue.

We look forward to receiving future contributions from all those interested in Lebanon and abroad.

There is no denying that our region is going through a turbulent time that threatens our Lebanese youths’ dreams, ambitions, and drive for achieving a better future. As a new generation of students joins higher education institutions and another graduates join the workforce,

we stand as witness to a tragic moment in the nation’s and Middle East’s history. Prominent among the crises is that of the Syrian refugee community that affects the Syrian displaced as well as the Lebanese host communities that are under duress and socioeconomic strain themselves.

Higher education institutions, therefore, as the beacons of hope and positive change in any society, should be pioneering in their effort to address and find solutions to societal challenges, making use of the meager resources at their disposal.

One such attempt to tackle

the public health challenges caused by the refugee crisis is MUBS’s innovative and unique collaboration with Stanford University’s School of Medicine, which allows Lebanese students to attend joint classes in Global Health that discuss principles of humanitarian relief, and the implementation of relief interventions across cultures.

The driving force behind this pioneering collaboration is the understanding that in fragile states and zones of conflict like ours, humanitarian response inevitably requires close collaboration between local and international responders.

International responders cannot work effectively without a deep understanding and

awareness of local cultures and contexts, while local responders typically lack the resources necessary to manage large-scale humanitarian interventions.

Yet, collaborative efforts between local and international responders are not always without problems due to differing interpretations of international standards, misaligned structures in organizations, diversions in historical, economic, and cultural perceptions which can contribute to misinterpretation, misunderstanding, and disagreement between local and international experts and communities.

To respond to these challenges and advance a culture of understanding for the benefit of the refugees and host communities, MUBS faculty and students will utilize videoconferencing and education technologies to link public health courses in Stanford’s Medical School in Palo Alto, USA with MUBS campuses in Lebanon to build capacity and relationship through virtual educational exchange. The program, dubbed Virtual Exchange Program, will utilize in addition to web videoconferencing, virtual whiteboards, shared text annotating, discussion boards, chat rooms, and virtual reality around a challenging problembased learning curriculum

developed in close cooperation with Stanford University and MUBS professors.

The first course in this project started on October 17, 2018 and has already received praise from the students and their professors for its ambitious goals and innovative approach to global health challenges. It is worthy to note that the project’s impact has been enhanced by the University’s decision to open the class for medical and public health students from across Lebanon, enriching the classes with diverse perspectives, as MUBS students are joined on the Lebanese side by students from medical and graduate schools of other private Lebanese universities.

Throughout the course, student teams will work collaboratively with their American peers on a capstone project that addresses the refugee and host community’s needs within the general themes of primary and secondary education, mental health, elderly/geriatric health, or reproductive health.

The course culminates with an in-person exchange allowing two Lebanese students to visit Stanford Medicine, Google and Facebook campuses in California, and two Stanford students visiting MUBS in Lebanon to further enhance the cultural and educational exchange provided by the Project.

GLOBAL WELLNESS AWARDS The Global Wellness Summit (GWS), the foremost gathering of international leaders in the 4.2$ trillion global wellness economy, celebrated recipients of its 5th Annual Global Wellness Awards; and the winners of its « Shark Tank of Wellness » student competition.

More than 630 invitation-only delegates hailing from 50 countries, attended this year’s Summit at Technogym Village in Cesena, Italy.

The 2018 Global Wellness Award recipients, determined by the GWS Advisory Board, were announced on the final day of the Summit, in the following categories: Leader in Innovation: Nerio Alessandri, founder and president of Technogym, for his vision and courage to use the word wellness to define his leading technology and fitness

as well as her passionate belief that good design supports wellbeing and can transform people’s lives.

Leading Woman in Wellness: Sheila McCann, general manager of Lanserhof UK and prior GM of Chiva-Som, for being a key figure in the global spa industry who has evangelized the transformative effects of authentic, immersive

experiences offered by destination spas, integrated wellness resorts and wellness retreats.

Leader in Workplace Wellness: Denise Bober, vice president of human resources at The Breakers Palm Beach, for remaking the culture of a renowned destination property into a shining example of workplace wellness and proving that a “return on wellness” is a real measurement of success.

Leader in Social Impact: Rupert Schmid and PierreLouis Delapalme, copresidents, Biologique Recherche, for working to make it possible for more people and societal groups to live healthier, happier lives–and whose work in the field of wellness has made a meaningful social impact.

Debra Simon Award for Leader in Furthering Mental Wellness: John Stewart, one of the founding partners and key visionaries behind the pioneering wellness resort, Kamalaya Koh Samui, for creating projects that make a measurable difference in people’s lives.

Shark Tank of Wellness Award: Each year the Shark Tank of Wellness competition challenges university students around the world to create bold and viable new concepts in wellness (from technology to architecture to hospitality). Fifteen of over 150 submissions from 39 countries presented their ideas in front of a panel of real-world wellness experts and the live audience.

First prize (5,000$) went to Maria Mu of Cornell University for her sleep technology

concept, Bellumo, aimed at helping hundreds of millions of people worldwide that have trouble falling asleep at night.

First runner-up (USD2,500) was Ece Nur Temel from Istanbul Technical University for her concept Yoga Lounge, a personal yoga space (or pod) designed for use throughout airports. Yoga Lounge is also a chill-out option for libraries, universities and hospitals. Second runnerup (USD2,500) was Niccolo Saltarelli from Les Roches Global Hospitality Education in Switzerland for his concept CampWell. This innovative health and wellbeing-focused summer camp pairs young adults with experienced camp counselors from an older generation, for immersion in human connection and intergenerational bonding and physical and mental health education and experiences.

About the Global Wellness Summit: The Global Wellness Summit is an invitation-only international gathering that brings together leaders and visionaries to positively shape the future of the $4.2 trillion global wellness economy. Held in a different location each year, Summits have taken place in the U.S., Switzerland, Turkey, Bali, India, Morocco, Mexico, Austria and Italy. The 13th-annual Summit will be held at the Grand Hyatt Hong Kong from October 15-17, 2019.

The FamilyDifficult Chats: THE MONEY CHAT Maya Azoury

Parenting, while being a blessing, could be daunting at times to say the least. The Family- Difficult Chats series of articles, tackle taboo and difficult topics that parents will have to discuss with their children at some point.

Answers will vary depending on children’s age, the urgency of the situation and other factors.

We start with the first and that is the money chat.

Discussing money issues with children is a difficult task for the majority of parents. So is there an age-specific time to initiate that talk? Should you initiate it, or simply wait till your child pops the question?

Most experts agree that

you should initiate that conversation, but smartly. Rich Morris and Jayne Pearl are two family wealth experts who are in fact a couple and who ascertain that it does not really matter whether parents are wealthy or not, the money chat is a must. In fact, while having money can provide children with a wealth of opportunities

and prospects; it could lead to a lack of ambition and meaning if the topic of money is handled badly by parents.

So how should parents discuss money with their children? You may decide to discuss a few pointers at first, and then wait before you tackle the big fish.

Whatever your parenting style is, a few golden rules apply.

Children’s Age: First, you must decide at what age you want to start the money chat.

Most childhood researchers agree that starting as young as age 6 or 7 is a good start; as by that age, children have become aware of the concept of money and can count. Start slow and take baby steps so your young children can become interested in what you have to say; then give them time to ponder and answer any questions they may have.

Money Value: You should always attach value to money and explain what money is for. The tradition goes “$1 for saving, $1 for spending and $1 for donation”, this remains true. Economy experts divide earning into equal thirds and calculate your debt options the same way. The earlier you instill such a habit into your child’s reasoning system, the better his/her adult financial reasoning would be. Give

examples of how you use money and how you make choices and mistakes when it comes to money and that it’s OK to make mistakes. Do not forget to tell them what you have learned from those mistakes.

Financial Situation: Your financial situation could dictate sometimes what, how soon and how often you would have to make your child aware

Always make them think of others and donate whenever given a chance

of the family stand when it comes to money. Be it a new bike that the neighbor’s child got for their eighth birthday or a new smart phone your teenage child desires; experts advise parents to tackle the money talk as simply as possible and make it part of the daily notes parents love to teach their children. An excellent starter for the money talk conversation could be while withdrawing money from the ATM machine.

Back to Basics: Going back to the basics is always a good idea with children. Children like things to be simple and clear; so whether it’s in a clear jar or inside one of their drawers, teach them how to save some of their allowance and then have them decide what to do with the saved money. The principle applies to you too. To teach a child about saving, you start saving yourself. Children are great at imitating us.

Give forward: Always make them think of others and donate whenever given a chance. If possible, show them how the money has in fact changed - even slightly - the life of someone. A child raised to donate, even little money, grows up to become a much more appreciative adult who donates infinite affection and attention.

Actor Will Smith made headlines when he revealed that for deciding one child’s weekly allowance, he made his siblings meet up in a family gathering to decide the amount. Including your child in at least some of the money decisions in the household would increase their ability to manage money later on in life.

If you are still unsure about the money chat, Pearl puts it this simply “It is better they make a 20$ mistake now than a 20,000$ mistake when they get older”.

Advocating Drama in Children’s Education Nadine Bakri

It’s always during the “back-to-school” time when parents start to think most about what their kids will be doing both inside and outside of the classroom. Their primary focus drifts towards enhancing their kids learning process, irrespective of the activities chosen. To this end, drama becomes a vital part of the students’ education because they are “closely linked in the learning process” of dealing with children (Ustundag, 1997), especially if we were to follow through with the new movement in education that adheres to child-centered approaches. This development focuses on enriching the student with the ability towards freedom and individualism as it places the child first and helps them grow to their fullest potential. It encourages the child to develop their literacy skills by continuously expressing their emotions through play way.

Education

Play way becomes ideally suited to actively engage students in self-actualization and emotional development, and drama provides just that.

Drama, according to Tober (2015), allows students to “instill life skills through selfexpression, fosters teamwork and confidence and nourishes the [child’s] imagination”. It enables them to be in a more supportive environment that actively develops their critical thinking and problem solving skills. The mutual discussions that take place between the teacher and student in the classroom provide a space where the kid reenacts the activities given.

It provides a basis where the “the link between drama and other curricular activities can be dynamic and not merely a passive means to convenient follow up activities (Ustundag, 1997). This apparent means of integration allows for more harmonious learning outcomes from the use of drama.

Drama then becomes a method of learning to convey the purposes which students need to instill mastery of their own thinking. This, in

turn, fosters qualities that let students to become more group-oriented and responsible for the active engagement of new perspectives. According to Ustundag (1997), children acquire new perspectives through self-actualization and one way to develop it is through teacher/student participation. By adopting social roles, students are more likely to engage in “abstract levels of thinking” that cultivate independent thinking. The notion behind social roles embodies a more perplexed method of thinking that requires an engagement from both the teacher and student.

This is then reflected in the way students engage with those outside the realm of the classroom.

Drama in education not only inspires the student’s imagination but also actively acts as a stimulant towards building their critical thinking skills. It enables them to be at par with their surroundings by enriching their emotional development. Where else can any student be more humanly than in the branch of drama; in which it helps the student consider moral issues and develop life values.

HOW DO WE TRULY LEARN? Farah Jurdi

Did you ever wonder how we truly learn? Did you ever look back at your school education and ask, how did it happen? Learning has been a basic need for human beings since the very beginning. Early humans began learning through their daily experiences mostly using trial and error. This allowed them to acquire several skills and lots of knowledge about themselves and their surroundings.

Whenever asked, some people might say learning happens without effort, while others might disagree and believe it is much more complicated than that.

So, how do we truly learn? Do we all learn the same way? Is there a specific process for learning?

Education

As a rule of thumb, we have to understand that all people learn in the same order, but not at the same rate. The rate of learning is influenced by how quickly the brain processes information. In addition comes the role of the teacher and his/ her knowledge of students is essential for a successful learning experience. Thirdly, motivation is always an important factor for proper communication and results.

According to PACEProfessional Association of Cross-Cultural Consultants in Education, there is a specific learning process which includes six stages: Acquisition (initial and advanced), Proficiency, Maintenance, Generalization, and Adaptation.

Acquisition:

In initial acquisition, the teacher exposes students to what they will be learning and gives them a taste of what they will be working on later. The students here may respond between 0-25% only. Moving to advanced acquisition, the teacher uses direct instruction and delivers lessons step by step and not just an overall picture. The teacher also models, gives examples, and non-examples. Third step,

the teacher asks the students to perform individually and always gives them corrective feedback, since the aim at this stage is refinement of skill. This way, the teacher has followed a guided practice. This may take up to two weeks to ensure acquisition has taken place.

Proficiency:

At this stage, the teacher wants students to perform correctly and quickly by reaching the expected rate and speed. There is a lot of revision, drill exercises, activities, and games to ensure learning has been instilled. The teacher here is also interested in teaching students selfmanagement, such as selfmonitoring, self-regulation, and self-correction.

Maintenance:

During this stage, the main aim is retention of knowledge. The teacher will make sure that the students remember what they have learned and perform it accurately and proficiently over time. During this stage, there are less drills and only periodic practices every once in a while.

Maintenance

Generalization:

Students at this stage are expected to start applying the skills or concepts learned in different contexts.

This is called expansion; the students transfer the application of a concept to a new setting. In other words, decontextualizing training. Here, self-instruction techniques are used to mediate learning; this will internalize the learning.

Adaptation:

This is the last stage of learning, where students will apply skills they learned to novel problems, capitalize knowledge, and build upon their learning. Here, students can tell how and what to modify in what was previously learned and apply it in a completely new and different context. This is called extension of the learning; students use the learned concepts to solve new problems faced in new situations.

Now that you have an idea about how we learn and how educators teach, do you still think it is a simple process?

A Happy Transition from Family to Kindergarten

The Importance of Parental Involvement Hanin Ibrahim

Tomorrow may be the first day you will be standing as a parent at the gates of the preschool, wondering how your child will adjust. If you feel emotional as you finally let go of the small hand imagine how she or he is feeling. Without a doubt, families, teachers, and schools should be responsible for helping to make the transition from family to kindergarten as smooth as possible.

According to Bailey (1999), Kindergarten is a context in which children make important conclusions about schools as a place where they want to be and about themselves as learners vis-à-vis schools.”

Therefore, this transition has a long-term impact on the child and requires the designing of a new framework to make it a positive experience.

Security for a toddler is defined by the presence of the mother.

Imagine this dependent child is just about to experience the new world without mom.

However, this new milestone will result in several changes.

This is when the child begins to form a new identity. Moreover, with a new identity, come new roles and expectations. As for social skills, the child will learn how to communicate better and build new relationships at preschool.

A smooth transition experience Starting kindergarten is considered as a new developmental milestone that requires adaptation to a major change. This results in a mix of emotions for the children and their families. It is

important to ensure a smooth transition for the children for several reasons: firstly, hard adjustment in kindergarten affects school achievement in the first elementary cycle and not liking the kindergarten affects the ability to build good relationships with teachers and peers. Also, less positive perception during the kindergarten experience affects the child’s academic competence. Hence, mastering a set of skills before entering kindergarten, such as language and social behaviors, makes the transition into kindergarten smoother.

The family’s role in the transition A child’s ability to adapt to the new transition is directly associated with the presence of their family. This is why the involvement of parents in this transition process is necessary.

A successful transition results in positive developments in all subject matters and social skills. Furthermore, besides the family-school connection, other connections also exist among the key players involved in the transition process such as child-school connections (between the child and the

Tobacco is the only legal substance that kills many of its users when utilized as intended by manufacturers. The World Health Organization (WHO) has estimated that tobacco use (smoking and smokeless) is currently responsible for the death of six million individuals every year across the world where 600,000 of these dead people are estimated to be second-hand smokers (World Health Organization, 2015).

Tobacco smoking is associated with an increased risk of death from both communicable and non-communicable

chronic diseases. Within communicable diseases, tobacco use is estimated to be responsible for 7 % of all deaths due to tuberculosis and 12 % of deaths due to lower respiratory infections. While, within non-communicable diseases, tobacco use is estimated to be responsible for 10 % of all deaths due to cardiovascular diseases and 22 % of all cancer diseases (71 % of all lung cancer deaths), and 36 % of all deaths from the diseases of respiratory system (World Health Organization, 2012).

How Tobacco Smoke Affects Your Health Smoking harms most organs of the body, causing numerous illnesses and reducing the health of smokers in general.

The adverse health effects presented in the opposite page, have been identified by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services - Office of the Surgeon General.

Health

Cancer is the second principal reason of death and was among the first diseases related to smoking. When tobacco toxins harm your cells, they can develop as malignancy (DNA is the cell’s “instruction guideline” and its damage leads to tumor).

In addition, the poisons in tobacco smoke weaken the immune system. For these reasons, smoking can cause cancer and block your body from fighting it.

Respiratory diseases

Long periods of smoking can harm your lungs and inhibit their capability to exchange air

(Lung loses ability to stretch and shrink back). Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is the most widespread disease among smokers (COPD patients slowly die from lack of air).

Cardiovascular diseases

Breathing tobacco smoke can alter your blood chemistry through raising the blood pressure; making the blood very sticky; elevating the triglyceride level; diminishing the good cholesterol level; narrowing and blocking the blood arteries. Therefore, it leads to heart attack and stroke.

Reproductive outcomes

Smoking harms reproduction and your children’s health.

Chemicals in smoke interfere with your reproductive system which may decrease fertility.

Using a hookah (also known as nargileh or argileh) or smoking cigarettes poses approximately similar health hazards to both smokers and non-smokers (second-hand smokers).

Thus, hookah smoking is not a safe alternative to smoking cigarettes as many people think. Burning charcoal in hookah produces smoke as toxic as cigarette smoke with

high levels of carbon monoxide and carcinogens. Due to the way a hookah is used, smokers may absorb more of the toxic substances than cigarette smokers do, where an hourlong hookah smoking session involves 200 puffs (90,000 ml of inhaled smoke), while smoking an average cigarette involves 20 puffs only (-500 600 ml of inhaled smoke). In addition, some infections may be transmitted by sharing the hookah among smokers according to the Centers for Disease Control Prevention - Office of Smoking and Health.

Changes in climate affect the air we breath. Also, shifting weather patterns can worsen air quality which could lead to asthma attacks and other respiratory and cardiovascular ailments.

Temperature changes during fall also increase transmission of vector borne diseases, illnesses transmitted by disease vectors, which include mosquitoes, ticks and fleas.

Water is affected and the reproduction of viruses and bacteria can increase during seasonal changes which can lead to diarrheal.

Enteroviruses are especially prevalent during the spring season due to contaminated food and drink and can cause wide spectrum of diseases ranging from hand foot and mouth (HFMD) disease to enteroviral meningitis.

Nutrition & Mental Health Climate change and high CO2 concentration in atmosphere content during fall can also affect food safety and nutrition.

The changes in air temperature can increase cases of salmonella and other bacteria, which lead to diarrhea and dehydration.

High CO2 levels during fall lowers the level of protein and mineral content in crops making these foods less nutritious.

The Journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences published a Belgian study showing how our brains work differently, depending on the season. In summer, our brain performs well with attention-centered tasks, but in fall our memory actually becomes sharper, since the parts of your brain that are responsible for remembering things are fired up at a higher rate. As a result, we are able to concentrate better and be more productive overall.

According to the American Medical Association, four out of five adults have suffered from chronic back pain. In the past people were told to lie down and rest to deal with their back pain. But, more recently we have found that such advice actually contributes to more pain and disability due to the weakening of muscles. Now doctors are advising patients to get or stay active as a way of

You should definitely add strength training to your routine, especially exercises that target the abdominal and the back muscles.

Strengthening these muscle groups will likely help to alleviate some of your pain, because weak back and abdominal muscles are often contributors to chronic back problems.

Walking will not exacerbate a back problem, and it is important for overall health. Be

sure to replace your exercise shoes often, as the support your shoes lend is critical.

Yoga and other exercises designed to improve your flexibility have been shown to reduce risk of back injury.

Q: Is quick walking or slow jogging more effective at burning calories?

* Contract the muscles in your abdomen to slowly lift your torso so that your shoulder blades come off the floor. Beginners may only be able come up one or two inches. * Support your head with your hands as you come up but avoid pulling your head forward. Your chin should be tucked in slightly. * Keep your eyes focused on the ceiling. * Take two counts to lift your torso, hold for one count, and then lower your torso back to the starting position for two counts. Exhale as you lift your torso, and inhale as you lower it.

Q: For the maximum health benefit, should I devote more exercise sessions per week to weight training or to aerobics?

Strength training has many benefits for health and well-being, but it doesn’t train your heart and lungs. For that essential part of the fitness routine, you need aerobic exercise. Conversely, aerobic exercise won’t make you stronger. But it will garante a healthier heart. Combining different types of exercises is key to remain independent.

It is essential to strike a good balance between strength training and aerobic exercise to make a healthier you. A good general rule of thumb is to try to get a minimum of about 20 to 30 minutes of vigorous aerobic activity three times per week and 20 to 30 minutes of strength training twice a week.

Q: What is a good way to , make sure I m exercising at a safe yet beneficial level?

The key to maximizing results during aerobic activity is to work out at the right intensity. The average healthy person will want to work out at 60 to 80 percent of their maximum heart rate. Maximum heart rate can be approximated by subtracting your age in

years from 220. For example, a 30 year-old woman’s maximum heart rate would be 190 beats per minute. She would want to maintain a target heart rate between 114 and 152 beats per minute (bpm) during her workout, thereby staying within the 60 to 80 percent of her maximum heart rate range.

Heart rate monitors are an effective way to gauge your heart rate. Another alternative, and a less expensive one, is to take your own pulse.

In addition to checking your pulse routinely throughout your workout, be aware of how you are feeling overall as you exercise. You should always be able to talk during your workout.

Q: Is it true that muscle weighs more than fat? If so, will I gain weight when I start strength training if I don’t go on a diet?

We are often asked whether strength training will make women gain weight or look bulky, and I’m happy to report that the answer is a resounding “NO!” Here’s why: One pound equals one pound regardless of whether the pound is fat, muscle, or some other substance such as butter or steel. Muscle is denser than fat and therefore takes up a smaller amount of space per

pound than fat. Some scientists estimate that the space that one pound of muscle occupies is about 22 percent less than one pound of fat.

If a woman begins strength training and eats exactly the same number of calories as she did before she began lifting weights, she may lose some weight because she is burning additional calories while exercising. Even more significant will be the change in her body composition. She will gain muscle and lose fat, even if her body weight stays the same. In my experience, most women drop a dress size or two after they have been strength training for a couple of months—because their body shape has changed for the better.

Q: What is plyometrics, and is it an effective method of exercise?

Plyometrics is an advanced training technique aimed at linking strength with speed of movement to produce power. To use a conceptual mathematic equation, plyometrics is strength plus velocity equals power.

Plyometric exercises teach muscles to respond quickly and powerfully. By stretching a muscle tightly and then

quickly contracting it, plyometric drills enable a muscle to reach maximum strength in as short a time as possible. With plyometric training, people seek to train the , body s fast-twitch muscle fibers so that they can load, or stretch, the muscle more quickly, and in turn, unload it more quickly to produce more power. In terms of basic muscular physiology, a prestretched, or loaded muscle is capable of generating more force than an unstretched muscle.

Higher than normal forces are put on the musculoskeletal system during plyometric exercises, so it is important for the athlete to have a good, sound base of general strength and endurance. A thorough grounding in weight training is essential before you start plyometrics. It has been suggested that athletes be able to squat twice their body weight before attempting depth jumps. However, less intensive plyometric exercises can be incorporated into general circuit and weight training during the early stages of training so as to progressively condition the athlete. Simple plyometric drills, such as skipping, hopping, and bounding, should be introduced first. More demanding exercises such as flying start single-leg hops and depth jumps should be limited to thoroughly conditioned athletes.

Q: Why are Spinning , classes so popular? Can t I get the same benefits from riding a stationary bike on my own at home?

Spinning, or stationary biking, is very popular. It has skyrocketed in popularity since being introduced by Schwinn in 1995. Gyms conduct Spinning classes as an alternative to other forms of aerobic exercise. You can achieve the same benefits of riding a stationary bike at home.

However, research shows that most people will likely enjoy—

and therefore continue—their exercise program when done in a group setting. Also, you are more likely to work out at a higher intensity during a Spinning class, and this will help you improve your fitness level faster. Another good reason to participate in a class setting is to assure that your bike is set up properly.

VEA™ was born from a conscious purpose to contribute in preserving the environment. In this exclusive interview Patrick Zoughbi, founder of VEA™, speaks out about his upcycling initiatives.

What is VEA? We upcycle (re-use) used inner tire tubes of trucks and bicycles into fashionable items under the brand name VEA™ .VEA™ comes from the word “Hevea”, which means rubber tree in Latin.

Our main product line is handbags and accessories made from raw material usually discarded into the landfills as rubber and is not usually a recyclable material.

Why was VEA founded?

Vea™ was launched onto the market in November 2014.

As an environmentalist and engineer, I always had a passion for reusing discarded items into useful items but always on a hobby level.

Then when USAID in late 2014 had a competition for “social businesses”, I entered and was one of the winners who got a seed fund and the encouragement to start the business.

Two main obstacles are funding and awareness to this new subject.

Do you receive support from anyone?

Other than the seed fund I received at the start, until now it’s a self-funded project.

How is the government support such projects?

Lebanon does not have any legal entity for social or environmental businesses.

While I, like all similar businesses, am always hoping for encouragement and incentives to come from the government, maybe tax exemptions or reductions.

Where do you market your products?

We started focusing on the Lebanese market, also the

Emirates,and internationally through our online web-store.

Is the Lebanese/Arab society conscious enough to support you and buy upcycled items?

Well, society is becoming more environmentally conscious but mostly [the products are] being bought as trendy and something new.

What would you advise the Lebanese youth?

Always stay open minded, think green, and try our and similar upcycling handmade products; usually they are unique items, made with love - they are fashionable, and respect the environment.

How can we promote the idea of reusing, reducing, recycling and upcycling?

We are counting on the new generation hoping that they understand the value of the environment and how to live in harmony. Education can play a role in promoting the idea, as well as the media and the introduction of relevant laws and regulations.

How would you describe the collaboration with MUBS Graphic Design Department?

It was a nice initiative and I hope to take it further with the talented MUBS students.

Wellness in Schools Symposium in Rashaya

In collaboration with the Municipality of Rashaya and the World Health Organization (WHO), the Modern University for Business and Science (MUBS), organized an educational and health symposium under the title “Wellness in Schools”.

The Symposium began with a welcome speech by Mrs. Diana Maddah, Public Health Instructor, Faculty of Health Sciences; Dr. Hatem Alami, Chairman of MUBS, welcomed

Complementary therapies for breast cancer highlighted at NWN talk

Cancer prevention methods such as screening, are highlighted with awareness campaigns, especially during Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October. However, complementary therapy use in cancer is rarely discussed in Lebanon.

Today, the National Wellness Network (NWN) Semqanieh, was proud to host Nina Abi Fadel, co-founder of Sohawellness; who gave an informative talk on “Complementary therapies for breast cancer.” This brave cancer survivor hopes to change the mindset of women all over the country, especially in rural regions. Under the motto “You are Stronger.”

Four years ago, after being told she had breast cancer she underwent a mastectomy and afterwards chemotherapy.

She asked herself, how can I boost my immunity? After conducting intensive research, she became vegan. “Meat and sugar are toxins. Chemo is toxic. So why should I add this to this?” she says. Common side effects of chemotherapy are vomiting, fatigue and hair loss, but leading a healthy lifestyle, Nina suffered none of these.

“I want to reach out to the whole community. You have rights, you have choices, you can take control of your life,” she told the audience. “I am sure that all of you know

someone who had cancer so reach out to them and share the complementary therapies for breast cancer with them.”

“The objective of NWN is to promote a healthy life style within the Lebanese community through awareness and providing preventive medical services offered at the multiple branches of NWN” says Nidal Makarem, MD, Programs Coordinator of the National Wellness Network (NWN), Semqanieh. “The seminar presented by Eventa was a perfect match with NWN and MUBS’s vision and mission, which falls within the health awareness campaigns that the network provides within its branches.”

International Wellness Industry Expo 2018 (Wellness China 2018) The International Wellness Industry Expo took place in China, June 29,2018-27, at the Poly World Trade Center Expo. The traditional Chinese wellness cultures were promoted during Wellness China 2018, which is considered a premier event that taped into global growing demand for high-quality wellness & health products, enhanced exchange, and cooperation among wellness industry. The expo featured over 180 exhibitors, distributed over 10,000 sqm exhibition space, which was visited by over 10,000 visitors, and over 870 overseas buyers. Expo visitors’ purposes varied from collecting the latest information of enterprises and products, to meeting with manufacturers, in addition to procuring devices on the spot, and seeking cooperation.

The goal this year, was to decrease the worldwide depression, obesity rates, and even future crime rates with Pre-School and Elementary Programs. “We want to teach children how to integrate wellness practices into their lives on a daily basis and to carry on those practices throughout their lives,” says Aksoy Berkin, Turkish GWD founder and cancer survivor.

She worked side by side with universities, clinics, and international wellness leaders, to develop a curriculum for the Kids Project that can be implemented in the 2019/2018 education year. Self-love, breathing, and mindfulness will be the main three key areas the project will focus on this year. The key areas can be

covered during a five-minute wellness circle time each morning for preschools, and during a one-hour wellness class per week for elementary schools.

Many complementary wellness events around the planet are being organized by 3 Advisors, 23 Key Supporters, and an international network of over 86 volunteer Global Wellness Day Ambassadors, who are inspired by Aksoy Berkin, and follows the GWD motto of “One Day Can Change Your Whole Life”. Organized wellness activities usually vary from one country to another, for example: Plastic bottle collection, environmental management, healthy food menus at school cafeterias, dancing, and meditation classes, are being created as a school program by GWD team in Brazil. A communitywide outdoor exercise classes are being hosted by the GWD team in UK, in addition to organizing family picnics in

Norfolk, Devon, and Cornwall.

A massive all-day celebration with yoga, Pilates, Zumba workshops, healthy lifestyle seminars, and kids’ activities such as basketball, Zumba, painting, and a musical concert will take place in Kucukciftlik Park in Istanbul, Turkey.

In addition, GWD reps will organize musical events, tea parties, healthy food seminars, and meditation at nursing homes to practice Step 7 in the day’s manifesto and “Do a Good Deed”.

MUBS 14th Commencement Ceremony Beirut's UNESCO palace witnessed an evening filled with exhilaration, pride and friendship, during the MUBS (Modern University for Business and Science) 14th Commencement Ceremony which took place on September 18, 2018.

The ceremony was attended

by MUBS students, academia and staff who were joined by a host of prominent Lebanese dignitaries.

During the opening of the Ceremony, Dr. Hatem Alamy, Chairman of the Board of Trustees at MUBS, congratulated the graduates emphasizing the opportunities the MUBS degree will offer. The Chairman highlighted the MUBS partnerships and joint projects with various European and American universities, focusing on the success of the Moderation program applied at MUBS

on its majors in partnership with Cardiff Metropolitan University in the UK. Guest of Honour, Dr. Fadi Alami, Chairman Al Sahel Hospital and Member of the Lebanese Parliament & a Board of Tustees member at MUBS, commended the students on their achievement and pointed out the important role they will play in contributing to Lebanese society and, most importantly, the growth of the economy.

Finally, the proud graduates were awarded their degrees to a fanfare of applause by families and friends. ÂŤWe could be heroesÂť was the finale anthem they sung jubilantly on stage while tossing their mortarboards in the air. ‫وحــول دور لجنــة الصحــة النيابيــة‬ ‫ت‬ ‫ار� الصحــة ت‬ ‫وال�بيــة‬ ‫فوعالقتهــا مــع وز ي‬ ‫ي� مـ شـروع الصحــة المدرســية ومتابعــة‬ ‫ش‬ ‫ش‬ ‫المــروع أشــار‬ ‫اال�اف عــى تنفيــذ‬ ‫د‪ .‬عراجــي إىل توجــه لالجتمــاع مــع‬ ‫وزيــري ت‬ ‫ال�بيــة والصحــة لمتابعــة‬ ‫التنفيــذ‪ ،‬وأن هنــاك تكامــا ً مــع‬ ‫الســلطة التنفيذيــة ‪ ،‬وأوضــح‪« :‬لكــن‬ ‫ين‬ ‫القوان�‪،‬‬ ‫التنفيــذ عليهمــا بعــد شت�يــع‬ ‫الرقــا� إىل‬ ‫ونحــن ســنقوم بدورنــا‬ ‫بي‬ ‫جانــب الــدور ش‬ ‫الت�يعــي»‪.‬‬

‫وأضــاف الدكتــور عراجــي‪« :‬لقــد‬ ‫ت‬ ‫والــى‬ ‫أنجزنــا البطاقــة الصحيــة‬ ‫ي‬ ‫سندرســها ف ي� مجلــس النــواب إلقرارهــا‬ ‫ت‬ ‫ـى انتهــت دراســتها مــن قبــل لجنــة‬ ‫والـ ي‬ ‫الصحــة النيابيــة حيــث رفعــت اىل لجنة‬ ‫ت‬ ‫الــى وضعــت بعــض‬ ‫االدارة والعــدل ي‬ ‫آ‬ ‫المالحظــات عليهــا‪ ،‬وهــي الن عنــد‬ ‫ت‬ ‫ـى ســنعقد‬ ‫لجنــة المــال والموازنــة والـ ي‬ ‫معهــا عــدة إجتماعــات لوضــع موازنــة‬ ‫البطاقــة الصحيــة وتمويلهــا‪ ،‬والبطاقــة‬ ‫الصحيــة هــي لجميــع اللبنانيـ ي ن‬ ‫ـ� خــارج‬ ‫الموسســات الضامنــة ت‬ ‫والــى يســتفيد‬ ‫ي‬ ‫ن‬ ‫لبنــا� كانــوا يندرجــون‬ ‫منهــا ‪1,800,000‬‬ ‫ي‬ ‫عــى حســاب وزارة الصحــة ســابقا‪.‬‬ ‫وللعلــم‪ ،‬ان للبطاقــة الصحيــة نوعـ يـ�ن‬ ‫مــن الخدمــات‪ ،‬االول هــو االســتفادة‬ ‫بالعــاج ممــن ال تشــملهم المؤسســات‬ ‫ن‬ ‫والثــا� هــو حزمــة يســتفيد‬ ‫الضامنــة‪,‬‬ ‫ي‬ ‫ن‬ ‫ـا� وتشــمل‪:‬‬ ‫منهــا كل الشــعب اللبنـ ي‬ ‫ن‬ ‫المجا� لالطفال‬ ‫• اللقاح‬ ‫ي‬ ‫ئ‬ ‫• إعتماد الطب‬ ‫الوقا� بع� تثقيف‬ ‫ي‬ ‫الزامي مسبق‬

‫ش‬ ‫المــرف ف ي�‬ ‫وحــول دور الطبيــب‬ ‫بدايــة العــام أوضــح الدكتــور عراجــي‬ ‫أن أ‬ ‫المــر يجــب أال يكــون حضــوراً‬ ‫آنيــا ومقترصاعــى االم ـراض العضويــة‬ ‫بــل يشــكل عن ـراً أساســيا ف ي� متابعــة‬ ‫حالــة الطــاب مــن مختلــف الجوانــب‬ ‫الصحيــة والجســدية‪ ،‬الفكريــة‪،‬‬ ‫النفســية أ‬ ‫والجتماعيــة حيــث قــال‪:‬‬ ‫ش‬ ‫مــروع قانــون‬ ‫«ونحــن اقررنــا‬ ‫معالجــة االمــراض النفســية لمــا لــه‬ ‫مــن دور ف ي� الوقايــة والتوجيــه أوال‬ ‫ثــم العــاج عنــد االطفــال والكبــار‬ ‫ومتابعــة العديــد مــن االم ـراض مثــل‬ ‫متالزمــة التوحــد ومكافحــة العنــف‬ ‫ضــد االطفــال والعنــف االرسي‪.‬‬

‫ف‬ ‫و� ظــل االختــاط مــع المجتمــع‬ ‫ي‬ ‫ت‬ ‫الــى‬ ‫ّ‬ ‫نتنبــه إىل فالعديــد مــن المشــاكل ي‬ ‫ســنكون ي� صــدد معالجتهــا ومنهــا‬ ‫النظافــة المدرســية والبيئــة الصحيــة‬ ‫ف‬ ‫النســانية ي ن‬ ‫بــ�‬ ‫الســليمة ي� العالقــة إ‬ ‫االســاتذة والطــاب وأهاليهــم وســامة‬ ‫المــكان وســامة الغــذاء الــذي أقربعــد‬ ‫‪ 10‬ســنوات مــن دراســته مــن العــام‬ ‫‪ 2015‬والــذي لتاريخــه لــم تصــدر‬ ‫مراســيمه التنظيميــة والتطبيقيــة بعــد‪،‬‬ ‫وهويعتمــد عــى مراقبــة الغــذاء مــن‬ ‫االرض ت‬ ‫حــى المائــدة وســامة الميــاه‬ ‫المعبــأة الــذي اقــر قانونــه مــن ‪5‬‬ ‫ين‬ ‫التدخــ� ف ي�‬ ‫ســنوات وقانــون منــع‬ ‫االماكــن العامــة‪».‬‬ ‫ف‬ ‫ئ‬ ‫الوقــا�‬ ‫التفكــر‬ ‫و� ســؤال حــول‬ ‫ي‬ ‫ي‬ ‫ي‬ ‫الصحــي الــذي تعمــل عليــه الشــبكة‬ ‫الوطنيــة للرعايــة مفــاده الزاميــة‬ ‫المعاينــة الذاتيــة وصنــع ثقافــة‬ ‫صحيــة‪ ،‬اشــار رئيــس لجنــة الصحــة‬ ‫الدكتــور عاصــم عراجــي ان الطــب‬ ‫ئ‬ ‫ـا�‪ ،‬وقــال‪« :‬‬ ‫الصحيــح هــو الطــب الوقـ ي‬ ‫يعتـ بـر توفــر البيئــة الســليمة أوال ركـ ي ز‬ ‫ـ�ة‬ ‫الصحــة ف ي� الــدول المتقدمــة‪ ،‬فكيــف‬ ‫ن‬ ‫ض‬ ‫الليطــا�‬ ‫نــر� ف ي� لبنــان بتلــوث نهــر‬ ‫ي‬ ‫الــذي تســتعمل مــاؤه للــري إضافــة إىل‬ ‫تواجــد المحــارق ف ي� اماكــن عــدة ومــن‬ ‫ثــم نتســاءل عــن ازديــاد نســبة االصابــة‬ ‫بالرسطــان‪ .‬وال نســتطيع ان نســأل‬ ‫عــن اســباب ازديــاد امــراض القلــب‬ ‫والتدخـ ي ن‬ ‫ـ� هــو ســيد الوقــت والرياضــة‬ ‫غائبــة عــن برامجنــا اليوميــة‪ ،‬ونظامنــا‬ ‫ئ‬ ‫الغــذا� ليــس بالصحــي»‪.‬‬ ‫ي‬ ‫وختامــا‪ ،‬شــدد الدكتــور عاصــم عراجــي‬ ‫عــى تكامــل عمــل وزارات الصحــة‬ ‫ت‬ ‫وال�بيــة والبيئــة والزراعــة والداخليــة ف ي�‬ ‫وضــع ملــف الصحــة المدرســية كأولوية‬ ‫خاصــة ف ي� المــدارس الرســمية‪.‬‬

‫ويــرى المحققــون ف ي� التاريــخ أن‬ ‫مجمــل ت‬ ‫الــراث العالمــي القديــم‬ ‫حيكــت فصولــه أ‬ ‫الوىل حــول أعمــال‬ ‫خارقــة حققهــا أبطــال الرياضــة‬ ‫الذيــن كانــوا يتشــبهون آ‬ ‫باللهــة‬ ‫ّ‬ ‫وه�اقلــس‪،‬‬ ‫كبعــل‪ ،‬وملقــرت‪،‬‬ ‫ي‬ ‫وه�مــس‪ ،‬ومــن بعدهــم‬ ‫وأبولــون ي‬ ‫جــاء أبطــال عظمــاء كشمشــون‬ ‫ت‬ ‫وعنــرة‪ .‬أمثــال هــؤالء‬ ‫وســبارتوكس‬ ‫أ‬ ‫ت‬ ‫كــر مــن الــراث‬ ‫صنعــوا القســم ال ب‬ ‫ف‬ ‫ف‬ ‫الثقــا� ) للشــعوب ي� عــر‬ ‫(غــر‬ ‫ي‬ ‫ي‬ ‫مــا قبــل التاريــخ ومطلــع التاريــخ‬ ‫المــدون‪ .‬مــن هنــا يمكننــا القــول‬ ‫أن كل مــن ال تــراث لــه ال تاريــخ‬ ‫لــه وال حضــارة‪ ،‬كمــا كتــب لبيــب‬ ‫بطــرس عــام ‪ 1986‬ف ي� العــدد ‪ 6‬مــن‬ ‫ض‬ ‫ـا� تحــت عنــوان ألعــاب‬ ‫دليــل الريـ ي‬ ‫القريــة اللبنانيــة‪.‬‬ ‫تبــوأت الرياضــة أ‬ ‫والنشــطة البدنيــة‬ ‫ين‬ ‫الســاحت�‬ ‫مكانــة واضحــة عــى‬ ‫المحليــة والعالميــة كظاهــرة‬ ‫اجتماعيــة تســتحق الدراســة‬ ‫َّ‬ ‫والتأمــل‪ ،‬ولقــد بــرزت مظاهــر هــذه‬ ‫المكانــة مــن خــال إنشــاء الهيئــات‬ ‫والمؤسســات والجمعيــات والروابــط‬ ‫والتحــادات واللجــان المهتمــة‬ ‫إ‬ ‫بالرياضــة وتعمــل عــى رعايــة‬ ‫أنشــطتها ســواء عــى المســتوى‬ ‫أ‬ ‫هــ� أو المســتوى الرســمي‪.‬‬ ‫ال ي‬ ‫ويمكــن تلخيــص بعــض العوامــل‬ ‫ف‬ ‫الجتماعــي للرياضــة‬ ‫المؤثــرة ي� النمــو إ‬ ‫ن‬ ‫ـول ‪ ،‬عــام‬ ‫كمــا‬ ‫فصلهــا أمـ يـ� أنــور الخـ ي‬ ‫ف‬ ‫‪ 1998‬ي� مقــال بعنــوان‪ :‬الرياضــة‬ ‫والمجتمــع لمجلــة عالــم المعرفــة‬ ‫التــال‪:‬‬ ‫الكويتيــة عــى النحــو‬ ‫ي‬

‫ويســتدل مــن أنــواع هــذه أ‬ ‫اللعــاب‬ ‫أنهــا كانــت تعتمــد عــى أ‬ ‫الدوات‬ ‫المتوفــرة بـ ي ن‬ ‫ـ� أيــدي الشــعب‪ ،‬كالجــرن‬ ‫الــذي يســتعمله لــدق الكبــة‪ ،‬والمحدلة‬ ‫ت‬ ‫الــى كان يحــدل بهــا ســطح نز‬ ‫م�لــه‬ ‫ي‬ ‫الرمــ�‪ ،‬والمخــل الــذي كان يرفــع بــه‬ ‫ي‬ ‫الحجــارة ف ي� المقلــع‪ ،‬والجــرس الــذي‬ ‫كان يدقــه عــى بــاب الكنيســة‪.‬‬ ‫كانــت هــذه أ‬ ‫اللعــاب تعقــد ف ي� ســاحة‬ ‫القريــة خــال أ‬ ‫العيــاد الدينيــة أو عنــد‬ ‫مواســم الــزرع والقطــاف أو حفــات‬ ‫والفــراح‪ .‬هــذه أ‬ ‫العــراس أ‬ ‫أ‬ ‫اللعــاب‬ ‫كانــت لبنانيــة رصفــة إبتكرهــا المواطــن‬ ‫نفســه‪ ،‬ولــم يســتوردها مــن الخــارج‬ ‫غــر أن‬ ‫وغ�هــا‪ .‬ي‬ ‫مثــل كــرة القــدم ي‬ ‫أ‬ ‫اللعــاب الرياضيــة ت‬ ‫ال�اثيــة لــم تجــد‬ ‫َّ‬ ‫طريقهــا إىل التحقيــق إال ف ي� صيــف ‪1985‬‬ ‫مــع المهرجــان أ‬ ‫الول ف ي� قرطبــا ‪.‬‬ ‫بــدأ لبنــان يتعــرف إىل ت‬ ‫ال�بيــة البدنيــة‬ ‫وأهميــة الرياضــة ف ي� العــر الحديــث‬ ‫مــع دخــول الرســاليات أ‬ ‫الوروبيــة‪ ،‬منــذ‬ ‫إ‬ ‫أ‬ ‫وتعتــر الجامعــة ال يم�كيــة‬ ‫عــام ‪1860‬‬ ‫ب‬ ‫رائــدة هــذه الحركــة‪ .‬فتعــرف التالمــذة‬ ‫إىل الرياضــة الســويدية (التماريــن)‬ ‫واللمانيــة (الجمبــاز) أ‬ ‫أ‬ ‫واللعــاب مثــل‬ ‫كــرة القــدم‪ ،‬والســلة‪ ،‬وألعــاب القــوى‪،‬‬ ‫ـ� أ‬ ‫عــن طريــق المعلمـ ي ن‬ ‫الجانــب‪.‬‬ ‫ف ي� هــذا الوقــت كانــت الرياضــة تشــق‬ ‫أ‬ ‫ف‬ ‫هــ�‪ ،‬يدفعهــا‬ ‫فطريقهــا ي� الوســط ال ي‬ ‫ين‬ ‫اللبنانيــ� وحبهــم‬ ‫ي� ذلــك شــغف‬ ‫ض‬ ‫ـا� والمنافســة‬ ‫فالفطــري للنشــاط الريـ ي‬ ‫ي� مالعــب الصحــة والعافيــة‪ .‬وعــن‬ ‫الرياضيــة ف ي� المــدارس‪ ،‬إنبثــق‬ ‫الفــرق أ َّ‬ ‫ف‬ ‫الرياضيــة ي� المجتمع‪،‬‬ ‫تأســيس النديــة‬ ‫َّ‬ ‫الرياضيــة»‬ ‫فــكان نــادي «النهضــة‬ ‫َّ‬ ‫نــاد رســمي وطــن ي ‪ ،‬تأســس ســنة‬ ‫أول ٍ‬ ‫ف‬ ‫التحــاد‬ ‫و� ســنة ‪ ،1933‬تأســس إ‬ ‫‪ .1926‬ن ي‬ ‫ـا� لكــرة القــدم‪ ،‬ثــم تــواىل إنشــاء‬ ‫اللبنـ ي‬ ‫الرياضيــة‪.‬‬ ‫التحــادات‬ ‫إ‬ ‫َّ‬ ‫‪www.nwn.com‬‬

‫تاريخ الرياضة‬ ‫والمجـتمعات‬ ‫البشـرية‬ ‫المجتمع اللبناني نموذج ًا‬ ‫إعداد‪ :‬فادي فياض‬ ‫كانــت الرياضــة ‪ ,‬عــى مــدى كل أ‬ ‫الزمنــة‪ ,‬جــزءاً مــن حيــاة البـ شـر والشــعوب‪ ،‬عميقــةً‬ ‫ف ي� الـ تـراث‪ ،‬متأصلــة ف ي� الجــذور‪ ،‬وقــد بلغــت اليــوم الشــأن الرفيــع ف ي� المجتمعــات‬ ‫أ‬ ‫النســان إىل مســتوى القيــم العليــا والمثــل‬ ‫المتحـ ضـرة لنهــا اســتطاعت أن ترفــع إ‬ ‫ض‬ ‫ت‬ ‫ف ت‬ ‫ـعب وهويــة‬ ‫ـا� لــه دوره البــارز ي� فالــراث‪ ،‬مــا دام الــراث تاريــخ شـ ٍ‬ ‫الفضــى‪ .‬والريـ ي‬ ‫وطــن‪ .‬وهــو كمواطــن ممـ ي ز‬ ‫ـ�‪ ،‬يســاهم ي� تأســيس مجتمعــه وبنــاء حضارتــه وإرســاء‬ ‫تقاليــده الدينيــة والدنيويــة‪ ،‬حيــث طــاف المســكونة بنبوغــه وتعاليمــه ومآثــره‪ ،‬وزرع‬ ‫أ‬ ‫بالنجــازات والبطــوالت والمواقــف الخارقــة‪.‬‬ ‫الرض إ‬

‫بــروت خلــع ثــوب النشــاط ت‬ ‫ال�فيهــي‬ ‫ي‬ ‫البحــت منــذ زمــن‪ ،‬فبمجــرد مزاولــة‬ ‫الصحية‬ ‫الرياضــة حصلنــا عــى الفائــدة‬ ‫ّ‬ ‫المتوخــاة‪ .‬ولذلــك فــان اي دوافــع‬ ‫ت‬ ‫الشــراك المــدارس‬ ‫او اســباب اخــرى‬ ‫والجامعــات ف ي� الماراثــون اصبحــت‬ ‫ثانويــة‪ ،‬انمــا ال يـ ضـر ان يكــون هنــاك‬ ‫ـ� للحصــول عــى الــكأس‬ ‫دافــع تنافـ ي‬ ‫او الميداليــة بجانــب الرياضــة والفوائــد‬ ‫الصحيــة منهــا‪ ،‬فمبــدأ التنافــس‬ ‫مطلــوب ف� كل أ‬ ‫الحيــان‪.‬‬ ‫ي‬ ‫وأشــارت الخليــل ان هنــاك قســما‬ ‫ين‬ ‫المشــارك� ف ي� نشــاطات‬ ‫كبــرا مــن‬ ‫ي‬ ‫ن‬ ‫ـئ� والشــباب‬ ‫الجمعيــة مــن فئــة الناشـ ي‬ ‫والذيــن يمثلــون المــدارس والجامعــات‬ ‫ورصحــت ان الجمعيــة تعــي هــذه‬ ‫المســألة وقــد ركــزت االهتمــام عــى‬ ‫ـ� الفئتـ ي ن‬ ‫هاتـ ي ن‬ ‫ـ� واطلقــت فكــرة ســباق‬ ‫للشــباب مــن عمــر ‪ 17 – 7‬ســنة الهــدف‬ ‫ين‬ ‫العدائــ�‬ ‫منهــا إعــداد جيــل مــن‬ ‫ين‬ ‫الموهوبــ�‪.‬‬ ‫الشــباب‬ ‫وأســفت رئيســة جمعيــة ماراثــون لبنــان‬ ‫مــن حــال التلــوث ف ي� لبنــان حيــث قالت‪:‬‬ ‫‹›إن مشــكلة النفايــات ف ي� لبنــان مشــكلة‬ ‫ّ‬ ‫آ‬ ‫عــى مســتوى الوطــن وللســف مــا زلنــا‬

‫عاجزيــن لتاريخــه مــن معالجتهــا عــى‬ ‫ت‬ ‫الــى‬ ‫رغــم المحــاوالت والخطــوات ي‬ ‫مازالــت خجولــة والمعالجــة هنــا تحتاج‬ ‫لجهــد عـ ّـدة أط ـراف‪ .‬وســبق للجمعيــة‬ ‫وبالتعاون مع جمعيــة ف‪a‬رح العطاء أن‬ ‫ن ّظمنــا حملــة نظافــة عــى هــذا الصعيد‬ ‫ف‬ ‫ت‬ ‫والــى‬ ‫حيــث نزلنــا ي� إحــدى المناطــق ي‬ ‫كان يلحظهــا مســار ســباق الماراثــون‬ ‫ورفعنــا النفايــات بأيدينــا من عــى جانب‬ ‫المســار مــن أجــل التخ ّلــص مــن الروائــح‬ ‫والمناظــر الكريهــة والبشــعة‪.‬‬ ‫«ان هــذه المناظــر الملوثــة ال تعكــس‬ ‫الصــورة الحقيقيــة لماراثــون بـ يـروت وال‬ ‫ت‬ ‫للمشــر ي ن‬ ‫ك� فيــه‪ ،‬وال يليــق بلبنــان ان‬ ‫تســتمر هــذه الظاهــرة فيــه خصوصــا �ف‬ ‫ي‬ ‫حــدث عالمــي مثــل بـ يـروت الماراثــون»‪.‬‬ ‫‪٦‬‬

‫وبالتعليــق عــى الســبب الرئيــس‬ ‫للصابــات الـ ت‬ ‫ـى تحــدث خــال الســباق‪,‬‬ ‫إ‬ ‫ي‬ ‫الصابــات الــىت‬ ‫قالــت الخليــل ان إ‬ ‫ي‬ ‫ين‬ ‫بالعدائــ� والعــداءات يــوم‬ ‫تلحــق‬ ‫الســباق وراءهــا عــدة أســباب منهــا‬ ‫الفنيــة أوالتحميــة‬ ‫عــدم الجهوزيــة ّ‬ ‫وقــد يكــون حادثــا طارئــا نتيجــة عــدم‬ ‫الجهــاد الــذي‬ ‫الخــرة الكافيــة او إ‬ ‫ب‬ ‫ن‬ ‫العدائــ�‪ .‬وقــد يكــون وراء‬ ‫يصيــب‬ ‫ي‬ ‫ايضــا عامــل مناخــي (مثــل إرتفــاع‬ ‫الحــرارة أو هطــول أ‬ ‫المطــار ) إىل مــا‬ ‫هنالــك مــن أســباب مختلفــة‪.‬‬ ‫أ‬ ‫ولجــل الوقايــة مــن ذلــك من الـ ضـروري‬ ‫أن يمتلــك هــذا العــداء أو تلــك‬ ‫والصحيــة‬ ‫العــداءة الثقافــة الرياضيــة‬ ‫ّ‬ ‫ت‬ ‫والــى يمكــن الحصــول عليهمــا مــن‬ ‫ي‬ ‫الط� المشــار‬ ‫خــال المواكبــة للمؤتمــر ب ي‬ ‫إليــه أعــاه أو مــن خــال المشــاركة‬ ‫ف‬ ‫ال�امــج التدريبيــة ت‬ ‫والــى تعتمدهــا‬ ‫ي� ب‬ ‫ي‬ ‫التدريــى‬ ‫ال�نامــج‬ ‫الجمعيــة وأبرزهــا ب‬ ‫بي‬ ‫‪ 542‬أو ذاك المتع ّلــق بفئــة القــدرات‬ ‫الخاصــة أو المكفوفـ ي ن‬ ‫ـ� والمكفوفــات ‪.‬‬ ‫بــروت‬ ‫ورصحــت الخليــل ان جمعيــة ي‬ ‫ت‬ ‫ز‬ ‫ماراثــون تحــرص عــى تطبيــق وإلــ�ام‬ ‫قواعــد ش‬ ‫و�وط فحــص المنشــطات‬ ‫ف‬ ‫ين‬ ‫للعدائــ� والعــداءات ي� ســباق‬ ‫وتشــدد‬ ‫الماراثــون وهــو مــا تلحظــه‬ ‫ّ‬ ‫ف‬ ‫التحــاد‬ ‫عليــه لوائــح المســابقات ي� إ‬

‫الــدول أللعــاب القــوى حيــث يتــم‬ ‫ي‬ ‫إختيــار عــدد مــن العدائـ ي ن‬ ‫ـ� والعــداءات‬ ‫الخــراء‬ ‫عشــوائياً وتقــوم لجنــة مــن‬ ‫ب‬ ‫المعتمديــن مــن منظمــة مكافحــة‬ ‫المنشــطات (‪ ) WADA‬بأخــذ عينــات‬ ‫المختــرات المتخصصــة‬ ‫وإرســالها إىل‬ ‫ب‬ ‫ف ي� اليونــان أو تركيــا وقــد تعاملــت‬ ‫مختــرات ف ي� قطــر ف ي�‬ ‫الجمعيــة مــع‬ ‫ب‬ ‫الســنوات الماضيــة‬

‫شهادة االدارة الرياضية الجامعية‬ ‫بــروت‬ ‫واختتمــت رئيســة جمعيــة ي‬ ‫ماراثــون باعرابهــا عــن ســعادتها‬ ‫ش‬ ‫بالــراكات المعقــودة مــع جامعــة‬ ‫‪ MUBS‬و‪ Cardiff Met‬حيــث قالــت‪:‬‬ ‫مــن دواعــي الـ شـرف والســعادة أن يكون‬ ‫و�اكــة ي ن‬ ‫هنــاك إتفاقيــة تعــاون ش‬ ‫بــ�‬ ‫الجمعيــة وكل مــن الجامعــة الحديثــة‬ ‫لــ�دارة والعلــوم (‪ )MUBS‬وجامعــة‬ ‫إ‬ ‫ت‬ ‫ال�يطانيــة‬ ‫كارديــف م�وبوليتــان ب‬ ‫ف ي� مجــال االدارة الرياضيــة‪ .‬وهــذه‬ ‫ش‬ ‫متقدمــة ف ي�‬ ‫ال�اكــة هــي خطــوة ّ‬ ‫مجــال تأكيــد أهميــة الثقافــة الرياضيــة‬ ‫عـ بـر طــرح دبلومــات أكاديميــة جامعيــة‪.‬‬ ‫ونحــن ف ي� حــال دائمــة مــن البحــث‬ ‫عــر برامــج‬ ‫والتفكــر بإتجــاه التطويــر ب‬ ‫ي‬ ‫ت‬ ‫ز‬ ‫ولتحفــ� الشــباب‬ ‫نشــاطات مشــركة‬ ‫ي‬ ‫ف‬ ‫عــى التحصيــل العلمــي ي� مجــال‬ ‫عــر قطاعاتهــا ومجاالتهــا‬ ‫الرياضــة ب‬ ‫المتعــددة والمختلفــة‪.‬‬

‫الصعيــد خــال الســباقات الماضيــة‪››.‬‬ ‫وتحــرص جمعيــة بـ يـروت ماراثــون عــى‬ ‫طبيــة ضمــن هيكليــة‬ ‫وجــود لجنــة ّ‬ ‫اللجــان المنــوط بهــا مهمــة التنظيــم‬ ‫ـى‬ ‫وهــذه اللجنــة تعقــد مؤتمرهــا الطـ ب ي‬ ‫كل عــام قبيــل ســباق الماراثــون‬ ‫ويشــارك فيــه أطبــاء إختصاصيــون‬ ‫ف‬ ‫الصابــات‬ ‫ي� مجــال إ‬ ‫ت‬ ‫الــى‬ ‫العظميــة‬ ‫ي‬ ‫تصيــب العدائـ يـ�ن‬ ‫والعــداءات‬ ‫أثنــاء الســباق‬

‫مقابالت‬ ‫الريــادي ف ي� المجتمــع والغريــب هــو‬ ‫ان الحكومــات المتعاقبــة لــم تــول‬ ‫الموضــوع أ‬ ‫الهميــة المطلوبــة مــن‬ ‫قبــل الحكومــات المتعاقبــة رغــم أن‬ ‫ين‬ ‫السياســي� يتنافســون ف ي� خطاباتهــم‬ ‫ن‬ ‫اللبنــا�‪ .‬بــر ي يأ� إن‬ ‫الموجهــة للشــباب‬ ‫ي‬ ‫عــى الحكومــة دعــم وزارة الشــباب‬ ‫عــر اختيــار وزيــر‬ ‫والرياضــة بدايــةً ب‬ ‫يمتلــك المؤهــات والرؤيــة وخطــة‬ ‫العمــل‪ ،‬ومــن ثــم دعــم الــوزارة ســواء‬ ‫عــر الموازنــة الســنوية أو مــن خــال‬ ‫ب‬ ‫إب ـرام إتفاقــات مــع دول او جمعيــات‬ ‫ت‬ ‫تُ ن‬ ‫ويــأ� دور‬ ‫عــى بهكــذا نشــاطات‪,‬‬ ‫ي‬ ‫الــوزارة والجامعــة اللبنانيــة والجامعات‬ ‫الخاصــة مــن خــال ابتــكار أنشــطة‬ ‫رياضيــة تعــزز روح الحمــاس والمبــادرة‬ ‫ف‬ ‫ن‬ ‫و� ذلك‬ ‫وكذلــك تغـ ي الــروح الوطنيــة ي‬ ‫خطــوة متقدمــة نحــو حمايــة شــبابنا‬ ‫آ‬ ‫كالدمــان مثــاً‪.‬‬ ‫مــن الفــات الخطــرة إ‬ ‫ســعادة النائــب‪ ,‬أنــت االن عضــو ف ي�‬ ‫لجنــة الصحــة النيابيــة كمــا كنــت‬ ‫ن‬ ‫تتمــى ‪ ,‬مــا هــو توجهكــم ف ي� هــذا‬ ‫الطــار؟‬ ‫إ‬ ‫ن‬ ‫يعــا� مــن‬ ‫القطــاع الصحــي ف ي� لبنــان‬ ‫ي‬ ‫غيــاب خطــة وخريطــة صحيــة واضحــة‬ ‫‪ .‬منــذ ســنوات نســمع عــن أن العمــل‬ ‫جــار نحــو إقــرار البطاقــة الصحيــة‬ ‫ٍ‬ ‫الموحــدة ولكــن لم نصـ ًـل اىل الخواتيم‬ ‫ـال وزيــر الصحــة‬ ‫الســعيدة بعــد‪ .‬فمعـ ي‬ ‫الحــال ي� حكومــة ترصيــف‬ ‫العامــة‬ ‫ي‬ ‫أ‬ ‫العمــال عمــل وتابــع وأنجــز ربمــا‬ ‫ف ي� أماكــن معينــة‪ ,‬فالمســألة تتجــاوز‬ ‫حكومــة أو وزيــر‪ .‬والمفــروض أن يكــون‬ ‫ســياس واضــح والــوزارة‬ ‫هنــاك قــرار‬ ‫ي‬ ‫تعمــل عــى تنظيمــه واقـ تـراح القوانـ يـ�ن‬ ‫ت‬ ‫ـى عضــو ف ي�‬ ‫والمراســيم الالزمــة‪ .‬وبصفـ ي‬ ‫لجنــة الصحــة النيابيــة‪ ,‬وانطالقــا ً مــن‬ ‫شــعارنا الــذي اطلقنــاه ‪#‬بناء_االنســان‪,‬‬ ‫عمــ� ســتكون متابعــة‬ ‫فــإن أولويــة‬ ‫ي‬

‫ملــف البطاقــة الصحيــة عــى أمــل‬ ‫الوصــول إلقــراره واســتفادة المواطــن‬ ‫ن‬ ‫ـا� مــن تقديماتــه وكذلــك متابعــة‬ ‫اللبنـ ي‬ ‫نظــام ضمــان الشــيخوخة وملــف‬ ‫ن‬ ‫ن‬ ‫ـا�‬ ‫ـا� الــذي يعـ ي‬ ‫الــدواء‪ .‬المواطــن اللبنـ ي‬ ‫ش‬ ‫ـ�‬ ‫مــا يعانيــه مــن تــردي الوضــع المعيـ ي‬ ‫ش‬ ‫وتفــ� االمــراض‬ ‫وانتشــار البطالــة‬ ‫ي‬ ‫يســتحق االهتمــام والرعايــة الصحيــة‪,‬‬ ‫مــن خــال دعــم المستشــفيات‬ ‫الحكوميــة وانتشــار مراكــز الرعايــة‬ ‫أ‬ ‫الوليــة ف ي� المناطــق والتعاقــد مــع‬ ‫المستشــفيات الخاصــة‪.‬‬ ‫ف‬ ‫و� مــا يخــص موضــوع الــدواء‪,‬‬ ‫ي‬ ‫شــاهدنا حماســتك ف ي� العمــل القــرار‬ ‫قانــون متعلــق بأدويــة معينة مؤخـرا ً‪..‬‬ ‫ت‬ ‫واجبــا�‬ ‫أظــن ان ذلــك مــن ضمــن‬ ‫ي‬ ‫ومــن بديهيــات العمــل والشــعور‬ ‫ن‬ ‫االنســا� اال وهــو العمــل عــى ي ن‬ ‫تأمــ�‬ ‫ي‬ ‫أ‬ ‫ض‬ ‫للمــر�‪ .‬فكيــف اذا تعلــق‬ ‫الدويــة‬ ‫ض‬ ‫بمــر� الرسطــان واالمــراض‬ ‫االمــر‬ ‫المســتعصية؟ حاولــت وبعــض الزمــاء‪,‬‬ ‫بدعــم ب ن‬ ‫وتــ� مــن الرئيــس نبيــه بــري‪,‬‬ ‫ٍ‬ ‫اقـرار اقـ تـراح قانــون زيــادة االعتمــادات‬ ‫بمــا خــص أدويــة الرسطــان وكنــا‬ ‫بإتجــاه البحــث بــه وإق ـراره مــن خــارج‬ ‫جــدول أعمــال الجلســة ش‬ ‫الت�يعيــة‬ ‫االخـ يـرة منــذ اســابيع‪ ,‬اال أن االمــر لــم‬ ‫يتــم أ‬ ‫للســف بفعــل فقــدان النصــاب‪.‬‬

‫ولكــن عدنــا وصدقنــا عــى االقـ تـراح ف ي�‬ ‫اللجــان المختصــة بإنتظــار اول جلســة‬ ‫شت�يعيــة إلقــراره‪.‬‬ ‫إنطالق ـاً مــن الأم ـراض والــدواء‪ ,‬هــل‬ ‫ن‬ ‫ـا� بلدنــا مــن أزمــة مســتعصية ال‬ ‫يعـ ي‬ ‫يمكــن عالجهــا ؟‬ ‫اعت�نــا معـ نـى كلمــة مســتعصية هــو‬ ‫إذا ب‬ ‫معقــدة‪ ,‬فأنــا أؤيــد ذلــك‪ .‬نعــم‪ ,‬هــي‬ ‫معقــدة ولكــن ليســت مســتحيلة الحــل‪.‬‬ ‫ال يمكننــا قتــل أ‬ ‫المــل بلبنــان وطننــا‬ ‫الــذي ننتمــي اليــه ونحبــه ونعيــش فيــه‬ ‫ونبــن مســتقبل اوالدنــا ي ن‬ ‫بــ� ربوعــه‬ ‫ي‬ ‫وتفاصيــل أحداثــه‪ .‬بإعتقــادي إن الدواء‬ ‫موجــود ف ي� عمــق كل منــا وهــو االنتمــاء‪.‬‬ ‫النتمــاء للوطــن‬ ‫علينــا فقــط تعزيــز إ‬ ‫أ‬ ‫وهــذا كفيــل بخروجنــا مــن الزمــات‬

‫الجامعــات الخاصــة ن‬ ‫أغــى القطــاع‬ ‫ف‬ ‫التعليمــي ف ي� لبنــان وســاهم ي� تعزيــز‬ ‫قــدرات الطــاب مــع �ض ورة ت ز‬ ‫إل�امــاً‬ ‫الجامعــة الخاصــة برقابــة وزارة ت‬ ‫ال�بيــة‬ ‫العــال والعمــل ضمــن‬ ‫والتعليــم‬ ‫ي‬ ‫أ‬ ‫النظمــة المرعيــة ‪ ,‬وهنــا أنــوه بجامعــة‬ ‫ت‬ ‫الــى ت ز‬ ‫تلــ�م برقابــة داخليــة‬ ‫(‪ )MUBS‬ي‬ ‫وضعتهــا لنفســها مــن أجــل االرتقــاء‬ ‫ت‬ ‫ـى تعمــل‬ ‫دوم ـاً بمســتوى الطــاب والـ ي‬ ‫عــى تطويــر االختصاصــات إضافــة اىل‬ ‫ت‬ ‫ـى‬ ‫االختصاصــات الموجـ فـودة حاليــا والـ ي‬ ‫تخــرج طالبـاً ي ز‬ ‫يتم�ون ي� قطــاع العمل ‪.‬‬ ‫ّ‬ ‫بمــا أنــك عضــو ف ي� لجنــة الشــباب‬ ‫والرياضــة فهــل تخطــط بل�نامــج‬ ‫ين‬ ‫معــ� يخــص الشــباب الجامعــي ؟‬ ‫تحدثــت كثــرا ً ف� أ‬ ‫الشــهر الســابقة‬ ‫ي ي‬ ‫عــن دور وزارة الشــباب والرياضــة‬

‫الحــال صــورة‬ ‫تعكــس أبــواب العــدد‬ ‫ي‬ ‫ف‬ ‫والنســانية‬ ‫المرحلــة ي� أبعادهــا البيئيــة إ‬ ‫والجتماعيــة‪ ،‬ذلــك أن‬ ‫والوطنيــة إ‬ ‫ت‬ ‫تغــرات‬ ‫العــدد الجديــد ي�افــق مــع ي‬ ‫عــدة ف ي� البيئــة تضــاف اىل التبــدالت‬ ‫ّ‬ ‫ت‬ ‫الــى يحملهــا معــه فصــل الخريــف‪،‬‬ ‫ي‬ ‫ـا� لــم يتوقــف أ‬ ‫ف‬ ‫و� طابعــه إ ن‬ ‫المــر‬ ‫النسـ ي‬ ‫ي‬ ‫عنــد الطابــع الوصفــي لهــذه التبدالت‪،‬‬ ‫حيــث نجــد أن عــدداً مــن المقــاالت‬ ‫جــاء ليفتــح آفــاق التعاطــي مــع هــذه‬ ‫ـرة تتجــاوز حــدود الواقــع‬ ‫التبــدالت بنظـ ٍ‬ ‫المحــدود إىل آفــاق أرحــب‪.‬‬ ‫لــم يخــرج مضمــون العــدد‪ ،‬وكمــا‬ ‫الهتمامــات‬ ‫درجــت العــادة‪ ،‬عــن إ‬ ‫ف‬ ‫الوطنيــة؛ حيــث أننــا وضعنــا ي� س ـ ّلم‬ ‫أ‬ ‫ت‬ ‫ـى تهــم‬ ‫إهتمامنــا تنــاول الولويــات الـ ي‬ ‫ت‬ ‫الــى‬ ‫مجتمعنــا والتصــدي للتحديــات ي‬ ‫يواجههــا وتفعيــل دور المؤسســات‬ ‫ت‬ ‫ين‬ ‫والمثقفــ� ف ي� استكشــاف‬ ‫ال�بويــة‬ ‫أفضــل الســبل للتعامــل معهــا‪.‬‬

‫يشــكل العــدد الثالــث مــن مجلــة‬ ‫الرعايــة والصحــة محطــة جديــدة ف ي�‬ ‫ســياق ترجمــة رســالة الجامعــة وأهداف‬ ‫إنشــاء الشــبكة الوطنيــة للرعايــة ‪NWN‬؛‬ ‫ت‬ ‫يعــر‬ ‫الــى ب‬ ‫وكلنــا ثقــة بــأن البوتقــة ي‬ ‫عنهــا هــذا العــدد ســتصبح أكــرث‬ ‫تماســكاً وقــوة‪ ،‬مــع تجــذّ ر فكــرة الرعايــة‬ ‫ف ي� أرضيــة المســؤولية المجتمعيــة‬ ‫ت‬ ‫والــى تشــكل مؤسســات‬ ‫والفرديــة‪،‬‬ ‫ي‬ ‫العــال حاضنــاً لهــا ودافعــاً‬ ‫التعليــم‬ ‫ي‬ ‫لوضعهــا عــى الســكة الصحيحــة‪.‬‬

‫ت‬ ‫الــى ي ز‬ ‫مــ�ت العــدد‬ ‫شــكلت أالعناويــن ي‬ ‫ســتبا� �ف‬ ‫ق‬ ‫ش‬ ‫مــؤ�اً لهميــة الفكــر إال‬ ‫ي ي‬ ‫التعاطــي مــع المشــكالت الراهنــة‬ ‫والمتوقعــة‪ ،‬فــكان عنــوان الصحــة‬ ‫المدرســية مرصــداً لتقييــم سياســات‬ ‫الدولــة وأهليــة المجتمــع للتعاطي معها‪.‬‬ ‫واتصــاال ً بموضــوع الصحــة كان‬ ‫تنــاول موضــوع الرياضــة والفكــر مــن‬ ‫خــال تجــارب خالقــة عــى قاعــدة‬ ‫ت‬ ‫الــى ي ز‬ ‫تمــ�‬ ‫علميــة وبــروح الريــادة ي‬ ‫وتــؤ� إىل المســارات‬ ‫روح الشــباب‪،‬‬ ‫شّ‬ ‫ف‬ ‫بــروت‬ ‫المطلوبــة ي� ســياقها كتجربــة ي‬

‫وال�امــج المشـ تـركة لجامعــة‬ ‫ماراثــون‪ ،‬ب‬ ‫‪ MUBS‬مــع العديــد مــن الهيئــات‪.‬‬ ‫ال يخفــى أن تجربــة برنامــج الصحــة‬ ‫بـ ي ن‬ ‫ـ� جامعــة ســتانفورد وجامعــة ‪MUBS‬‬ ‫هــو نقطــة مضيئــة تعكــس الموقــع‬ ‫الرائــد للتعليــم العــال ف ي� لبنــان وتـ ش‬ ‫ـؤ�‬ ‫ي‬ ‫عــى أهميــة المبــادرات الجديــدة‬ ‫النوعيــة لنفــض الغبــار عــن بعــض‬ ‫ت‬ ‫ـى قــد تصيــب‬ ‫جوانــب الشــيخوخة الـ ي‬ ‫ت‬ ‫الــى يغيــب عنهــا‬ ‫واقــع المؤسســة ي‬ ‫الفكــر النقــدي والموضوعيــة وروح‬ ‫والنفتــاح ف ي� ظــل تجليــات‬ ‫البتــكار إ‬ ‫إ‬ ‫عــر العولمــة والثــورة الرقميــة‪ .‬تبقــى‬ ‫تجربــة الرعايــة ومجلتهــا هــذه نموذجـاً‬ ‫يحتــذى بهــا‪.‬‬ ‫أقــول ختامـاً‪ ،‬إن المبــادرة إىل الكتابــة ف ي�‬ ‫مجلــة ال ت ـزال ف� خطواتهــا أ‬ ‫الوىل‪ ،‬هــو‬ ‫ي‬ ‫أمــر بالــغ الداللــة ويســتحق الثنــاء لــكل‬ ‫الذيــن بــادروا إىل ذلــك‪.‬‬ ‫مــع كلمــة تقديــر خاصــة لــكل مــن‬ ‫ف‬ ‫العــداد لهــذا العــدد‪،‬‬ ‫ســاهم ي� إ‬ ‫تن�كــه رســالة إىل كل المهتمـ ي ن‬ ‫ـ� ف ي� لبنــان‬ ‫وخــارج لبنــان إلضــاءة طريــق التطــور‬ ‫بمســاهمتهم وأفكارهــم‪.‬‬ ‫نأمــل أن تكــون هــذه المبــادرة لوحــة‬ ‫ن‬ ‫يّ ز‬ ‫اللبنــا�‪،‬‬ ‫التمــ�‬ ‫جديــدة ف ي� معــرض‬ ‫ي‬ ‫وترســيخ قواعــد جديــدة تفتــح مســارات‬ ‫اىل عــر جديــد للريــادة ف ي� التعليــم‬ ‫العــال‪ ،‬وتؤســس لمنعــى جديــد مــن‬ ‫ي‬ ‫ف‬ ‫ن‬ ‫معــا� الوحــدة الوطنيــة ي� رحــاب‬ ‫ي‬ ‫ن‬ ‫انســا� خــاق‪.‬‬ ‫ي‬
