Lighthouse Program The Euclid Lighthouse Program is an exclusive opportunity to gain access, at no cost, to Euclid Analytics, the inventor and leader in mobile location analytics for the retail brick and mortar space. By way of background, Euclid technology captures signals sent by smartphones to provide retail locations with metrics about in-store customer behavior including duration (amount of time shopper), conversion rate (percentage of customers who walk by vs. walk in), bounce rate (customers who walk in and end up leaving), new vs. repeat customers, and how often they return. Based on your company’s size, industry, and customer base, you have been identified, among a small and select group, as a potential partner to participate in the Lighthouse Program. Your company will have access to Euclid’s full suite of capabilities at no cost. The level of service Euclid will provide has a retail cost of per location, per month with an annual agreement. In exchange for Euclid’s full suite of capabilities, Lighthouse Program partners will be asked to provide ongoing feedback to help the company learn and iterate its products to meet a broad set of customer demands. Because of the demand to take part in the Lighthouse Program, you are asked to let Euclid know of your interest to participate within 14 business days from the date you received this document. This will help ensure Euclid is able to secure a spot for you. In the following document you will find an overview of the Euclid technology, how the technology works, and benefits to participating in the Lighthouse Program. If you have any additional questions regarding Euclid, the Lighthouse Program, or the partner selection process, please contact Brent Franson, 415-692-4814 or Lighthouse@euclidanalytics.com.

Technology How Euclid Captures Data Smartphones are continuously searching for Wi-Fi access points, regardless of an active connection to a Wi-Fi network. At the same time, these access points are constantly listening for Wi-Fi signals being emitted by devices looking for a connection. The access point records and stores the information sent by the smartphone. If a Wi-Fi access point manufactured by Euclid or one of its partners is activated, it automatically detects and sends the raw smartphone information to Euclid’s cloud-based analytics engine. The smarthphone’s unique MAC address is anonymized via one-way hashing algorithm, then cleansed, and organized before being displayed in Euclid’s real-time web-based dashboard. It should be noted, the frequency of these signals varies, depending on the smartphone vendor and device status, but in general, they average two to nine signals each minute. Not everyone has a smartphone, and some people with smartphones switch off their Wi-Fi capabilities. However, dependent on location of the store and the demographics of its customers, 40%-70% of all visitors are carrying a Wi-Fi enabled smartphone that can be measured. According to a study conducted by the Federal Reserve Board’s Division of Consumer and Community Affairs, smartphones represent approximately 75% of national mobile phone purchases. The percentage of shoppers that can be measured will continue to grow significantly.

Technology The following information is a summary of how the Euclid technology examines data and provides it to retailers in real-time. If you would like to understand the specifics about the technical aspects of the data analysis process, Euclid is happy to provide you with a technical white paper that gives detailed information. How Euclid Analyzes Data Euclid uses robust algorithms to distill data into easy to understand, actionable information for retail companies. As smartphone data streams into Euclid’s cloud-based analytics engine in real-time, all detected devices are classified in a time series database, with algorithms applied to profile all detected devices. Euclid separates the meaningful data from the noise In order to differentiate useful from insignificant data, Euclid uses multiple criteria to classify devices that come within range of its sensors. With more than 180 million devices detected, Euclid’s patented classifiers are able to discern and classify devices at multiple levels beyond the basic classifications. Signal strength alone is a highly inaccurate approximation method, as Wi-Fi signals tend to degrade in indoor settings. Additionally, signal strength is dependent on many real-time environmental conditions, such as number of people inside a store, changes in floor sets, or furniture near the access point. Data shows that smartphone signal thresholds of inside retail visitors drift over time. Euclid’s advanced heuristics extract actionable insights from the data and store the results in enterprise class, remote, redundant, and secure datacenters. This is a critical aspect of the analytical process; keeping the data count smaller and more accurate ensures that retail companies can base their critical business decisions on shoppers’ behavior within the store. In simple terms, when a visitor is in your retail store, Euclid’s network of sensors and Wi-Fi partner access points gather the raw smartphone information, then forward it securely to the Euclid cloud in real-time for processing and analysis. The anonymized data is then displayed in Euclid’s web-based dashboard to view, analyze, download, and share across teams.

Privacy Euclid is committed to addressing concerns about consumer privacy, at both the retailer and consumer level. Euclid sensors do not collect any sensitive or personally identifiable data such as who consumers are, whom they call, or the websites they visit. Euclid gathers only basic device information that is broadcast by Wi-Fi enabled phones and the wireless access points they connect to within the company’s Wi-Fi networks. The information Euclid provides to retail companies via the analytics dashboard is anonymized and does not include any personal information. Euclid makes no attempts to link any data, behavioral or otherwise, to individual people. What Euclid collects: • Station ID (MAC address of transmitting device). • BSSID ID (MAC address of connected access point). • Signal strength of transmitting device. • Timestamp of transmission. • Channel or frequency of transmission.
To ensure the privacy of individual shoppers, Euclid anonymizes the MAC addresses of individual smartphones within range of the retailers’ Wi-Fi networks. Employing a nonreversible hashing algorithm on each smartphone’s MAC address guarantees anonymity. A new ID is generated that can never be re-associated with the smartphone. Individuals with any concerns can easily opt out of participation and delete all of their existing data from Euclid’s servers by visiting this website. https://optout.smartstoreprivacy.org/
