Greetings, Brothers of the Mu Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated, Washington D.C., key#111, and the 11th Alumni Chapter of our beloved fraternity. It’s my honor and privilege to serve as the Chapter Chair of Membership and Reclamation. As we move onward and upward towards the light of our Chapter 100th Centennial, it’s apparent that we as a brotherhood seek to build and stimulate the ambitions of the Brotherhood at all levels of the fraternity to include college brothers and alumni brothers collaborating towards making more cohesive efforts to maintain the “House of Goodwill and Fellowship,” This means that we must embrace one another through both good times and bad times, because “He’s Not Heavy, He’s my Brother.”
Many brothers today seek a brother to reach out to them, and that initiation begins with us becoming “brothers of action.” A brother of action is a brother that reaches out to another brother to check in or to collaborate on the love of Brotherhood. Our seven Jewels believed that “brotherhood” is the foundational pillar of organizational effectiveness. Organizational effectiveness starts with leadership throughout the Chapter leading by example in communicating organizational goals and objectives; it involves every financial brother reviewing the Chapter Organizational Roster to ensure that the brothers meet the Chapter membership requirements.
We are our “Brother Keepers”; strengthening our Brotherhood remains one of the critical aspects of our 36th General President, Brother Dr. Willis L. Lonzer III, and The Membership and Reclamation Committee’s goals and objectives are aligned with the Fraternity Motto “First of All, Servants of All, We Shall Transcend All.” First of All, everybody must be accountable for replenishing the ranks of “The Brotherhood,” reaching out to every brother, financial or nonfinancial, to let them know that we care for them, Servants of All is where we serve innovative ideas through strategic planning to help brothers through their personal issues through grace and mercy sponsorship initiatives, We Shall Transcend All once brothers start to see that we as “ collective brotherhood” care about their mental or social aspects it will begin to rejuvenate their “Spirit of Alpha” to seek to maintain their membership. As the National Headquarters of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated starts its push on the new initiative “No Brother Left Behind Initiative,” let us as “Brotherhood” join in reclaiming as many brothers as possible because there’s no “Brotherhood without Putting Brotherhood First.” As we approach our 100th Centennial, the chapter’s goal is to add 50 reclaimed brothers back onto the Chapter Financial Membership roster for the fiscal years 2023 and 2024. That sounds like a great task, but we as a “Brotherhood” can do all things!
