BACCO BEACH - A SPECIAL EXPERIENCE AWAITS YOU
Bacco Beach restaurant at Na Jomtien is a unique and amazing experience. Located at Soi 10 of Sukhumvit before Ambassador City it is worth the trek. Too many of us think all Italian restaurants
are the same, but this one is guaranteed to change your mind. It is truly like a tour of Italy. If you want to be safe in your food choices it has all the conventional stuff Italian restaurants are fa-
mous for, pizza, pastas, steaks and the like. But if you want to try new experiences in Italian foods this is the place. Fresh fish tanks included MAINE lobsters with claws. A rare treat in Pattaya. The draught beer system is literally ice cold. There are wines selected from every province in Italy, you can see from the pictures there are literally hundreds of bottles to choose from. So one of the nice things of being a party of four who are all game to try new things is you get to eat a lot of choices. The MENUS have over 200 items, all cooked fresh. 14 Pasta sauces, homemade pasta from three different wheats optimized for the Thai climate. Like Thai food, many are working Italian class dishes leveraging a wide variety of fresh ingredients. Needless to say vegans are easily pleased with so many options. So we started. First we tried a type of TriColore sandwich built on thin Italian piada bread. Absolutely delicious. Some in the group were cautious on what appeared to be a sandwich on thin bread, but everyone was pleasantly surprised that the flavors were incredible. WE shared a fresh tuna tartare appetizer. The portion was so big it
easily served four. Next came a panzarotti with a delicious spicy Italian salami inside. Like a calzone but deep fried in light olive oil. This was truly incredible, worth the trip for this. Every time I turned my head I noted someone had cut more off after their initial serving. Moving on to a fiore spinach salad topped with Parma ham was a delightful step. So now on to main courses. I never get to have a cold water lobster here, so of course I decided to try Lobster spaghetti. Delicious. For the less adventurous we had to try spaghetti Bolognese. I will never eat spaghetti in a Pattaya pizza joint or pub again. About $1 more than usual, why not have a beautiful setting, fine wine and great service. We had a truffle ravioli, boy was I surprised, the taste of truffle elegantly spread throughout the raviolis and sauce. Try this, you will NOT be disappointed. We were supposed to share but Niels ate most of it. When I asked why, Niels said “I like it”. Think we were done? Nah, let’s have a rib eye steak, cause we had heard the Australian meats here were AGED properly. This finely aged steak (also very hard to find) did not disappoint. Those of you who have read my reviews in the past know I always have cake and frequently more than 1 piece for dessert. I am sorry to report I could not even take a bite, even though the selection was calling my name. Heck I couldn’t even find room for a taste of lemon gelato. A true adventure in dining. THE BRIDGE IS OPEN Khun Arkhom Termpittayapaisith, Minister of Transport for Thailand, recently travelled down to Pattaya to officiate over the official opening ceremony of the brand new disability accessible pedestrian bridge over Sukhumvit Road. The Minister was greeted by the Mayor of Pattaya, Sonthaya Khunpluem, who due to a recent lower limb accident was sitting in a wheelchair, and by Father Peter Srivorakul C.Ss.R., from the Father Ray Foundation. Before and after the opening ceremony the Minister took time to meet with the students with disabilities at the Father Ray Foundation and also with local people with disabilities, and he discussed

The insurance policy must offer up to 40,000 baht coverage for outpatient treatment and up to 400,000 baht for inpatient treatment. ON THE END OF INTIMIDATION
Here in the Kingdom of Thailand everyone is governed under Thai law, including all foreigners who immigrate here or choose to visit here on holidays. But quite often when a dispute arises they will try to solve it themselves, with their own methods usually by not following the law. Often this results in threats and intimidation of the other person, for example they will threaten the other party by saying they will inform the embassy of the bad deeds that party has done. Also they may try to
ISSUE 614 JUNE 2019
use any previous history against them such as prior arrests or imprisonment sentences on their record, or say that the other parties business is illegitimate and/ or is involved in illegal activities. These threats are designed to pressure or scare the other party into giving in so the party that made the threats will get the result they want by settling something for his/her side. But this is one hundred percent wrong and it is not the right way to go about settling a dispute here. Because
if the problem in question concerns to money or property then dealing with it this way will make it a cheating and fraud offence, which by criminal law can end up to be a sentence of up to three years imprisonment among other charges. If you are threatened in this way you will not have to worry as long as you are in a good situation and have not done anything wrong. You can check this by seeing if you can still extend your visa, can you still travel abroad, what is the status of your work permit if there any complications, is your business legitimate and didn’t have any problems with the police, when flying out of the Kingdom and coming back you didn’t have any problems with customs or immigration. If all of things check out for you, you needn’t worry about the threats made to your person or business as you will have protected yourself from any weaknesses to be used against you. Lawyer Comment: As a lawyer who has taken care of many de-
portation and extradition cases, I can confirm to you that your embassy will only be involved in a deportation or extradition case only if you have done something wrong in your home country and have not been sentenced yet. Your government would ask the Thai Foreign Ministry to ask the Thai courts to extradite you back to your home country if this was so. But this does not concern any previous cases in your home country which have been processed with
the sentenced served or the case closed, it must be an ongoing case where the offender has not been punished yet. If you do anything wrong here in Thailand your case and punishment will be settled here in Thailand. In the cases where the Thai courts will deport you it must be concerned to drug related charges, money laundering and sexual related offences only. If you are unsure about your situation you should consult your law-
yer to see if you are in the right or wrong and to prepare accordingly to ensure that you stay safe and are protected in the right way. If you have your own case or any questions regarding law in Thailand please feel free to write in to us and we will answer any questions or concerns in this column. As the long summer holidays come to an end and children prepare for the start of a new school year, a three day camp was organized at the Father Ray Children’s Home for children living and studying at local charitable facilities. Two hundred and fifty five children spent two nights sleeping under the stars, working for their meals, making new friends and learning new skills that will hopefully help them throughout their
lives and having fun, lots of fun. Students with disabilities from the Pattaya School for the Blind and the School for Children with Special Needs joined together with residents, from the Human Help Network, Father Ray Children’s Home and Children’s Village, Banglamung Boys Home, Baan Jing Jai and the Fountain of Life. Sponsored by the Mayors of Pattaya and Nongprue the children of all ages were given talks about life, advising them on the

Bosch Thailand generously donated approximately $10, 000 worth of tools the Hand to Hand Foundation to assist them with their job training programs. At the end of last year 150 wooden pallets were donated to the charity by and after pulling them apart they began build simple stools. As interest grew and skilled people came to teach, the foundation now has a small furniture making workshop. NEW IMMIGRATION CHIEF
Police Colonel Sampan Luangsatjakul is the new Superintendent at the Chonburi Immigration Bureau in Jomtien Beach Road Soi 5. On 23. May the Chairman of the Board of Directors at Pattaya People Media Group Niels Colov accompanied by his wife Patsanan Colov and staff of the media company, paid a visit to welcome the new Immigration Police Chief to Pattaya. A Rama 5 statue was presented to Colonel Sampan with well wishes for a successful stay and work here in Pattaya. Various matters regarding foreigners staying in Pattaya was discussed as Mr. Colov stated that the vast majority of foreigners staying in Pattaya was “good
people”, who followed the Thai law, and only a very small number of foreigners was breaking the law here, doing unethical business, cheating other people and in many cases working without a proper work permit. The Immigration Chief promised to support
For any walker, rider or driver around the streets of Pattaya it would be hard not to notice the increased popularity of cycling. The number of cyclists riding around the city, and also around the nearby countryside may be an inconvenience to some, but for a way of staying healthy then riding a bike is an excellent choice. One thousand riders recently gathered at the Pattaya School for the Blind in Naklua and set off on a 30km charity bike ride around the city to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Foundation for the Blind in Thailand, which is under the royal patronage of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit. The event was named ‘Bike with the Blind’, and several blind and visually impaired students from the
school climbed onto two seat tandems, with a sighted rider in front, and joined the ride which ended at Pattaya City Hall. This is the first time many of the students had ever ridden a bike, let alone ride it for a long distance and at such a fast speed. But they loved it, loved the speed and feeling the breeze on their faces. Almost one hundred thousand Baht was raised for the Pattaya school, and simultaneous bike rides were also taking place in Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Khon Kaen and several cities in the south, and all to raise awareness and much needed funds for local school for blind and visually impaired students. The Pattaya School for the Blind currently provides an

GRACE INTERNATIONAL Global Relief Association for Crises & Emergencies, Inc. (GRACE) serves marginalized families and children of Thailand. GRACE exists to foster social change through strengthening families and eradicating the vulnerabilities of human trafficking and exploitation. The identified vulnerabilities, including poverty and illiteracy, place many people at risk of various forms of exploitation. In an effort to overcome the challenges of poverty in rural areas, families move to the major cities seeking better employment opportunities. Pattaya provides transient employment opportunities for many Thai people merging from all regions of the country. Unfortunately, many of the adults seeking employment arrive with little or no educational and vocational skills. Their hopes for better lives are often shattered as the elevated tourist prices infiltrate their costs of living and reduces the net gain necessary to support family. Seeking affordable shelter and food for the family often results in substandard living conditions, malnourishment, and poor health. These are the people groups often enslaved, coerced, forced or victimized through human trafficking and exploitation. GRACE reduces the vulnerabilities of poverty and illiteracy through the provision of educational, nutritional, and wellness support. GRACE provides services through Family Resource Centers and established a formal after school
program, day camp, adult enrichment classes, and research services. The safe environment provides parents and guardians with peace-of-mind as children are shuttled from school directly to the secure center. Participants in the program are eligible to qualify for educational scholarships to help offset the costs of attending school. The scholarships reimburse tuition, book deposits, uniforms, backpacks, and school supplies. Additionally, the children are
enrolled in the programs provided at the family resource center. The after school program is staffed to provide homework assistance, tutoring, Thai and English language classes, and activities that
promote development and selfesteem. During summer and fall school breaks, the children attend day camp at the center. Day camp provides ongoing educational classes including reading, writing, mathematics, languages, and art. Games, movies, recreational activities, and free time to play encourage communal and individual development. Beyond the children, GRACE provides educational enrichment classes for parents and guardians; topics include fi-
nancial management, parenting skills, marriage enrichment, health and wellness, internet safety, human trafficking awareness, and more. Nutritionally, the children receive
snacks and meals at the center during after school and day camp sessions. The families receive allotments of jasmine rice, cooking oil, and sauces throughout the year. Wellness provisions include dental, hygiene, and first aid supplies, vision care, and scholarships

as needed to help offset the costs of medical care. The center distributes donated clothing to those in need. Dr. Jon and Angie Sullivan, cofounders of GRACE, witnessed various forms of exploitation throughout the world during their travels. A visit to Thailand in early 2013 revealed vast numbers of school-aged children not attending school. Children were begging and collecting recyclable items. They didn’t stop with observing a problem. Their research led them to identify the realistic challenges of many families at risk of exploitation. Acknowledging a life purpose, they expanded GRACE to serve marginalized families and children of Thailand. Within two months, a child sponsorship program was implemented to ensure twenty-six identified children
day, GRACE International operates two Family Resource Centers and have served more than 200 families. How effective are the programs? Reporting internal statistical data helps ensure best practices are implemented in equipping the children for a successful education. Data reveals improvement in comprehensive test scores, and change in motivation to learn with attitudes of “I can’t” transformed into “I can”. How can these families afford to enroll their children in the programs? The children are enrolled in a child sponsorship program funded by sponsors throughout the world. Ultimately, the goal of GRACE is to prevent children from being exploited or trafficked. In the process, GRACE ensures they receive an opportunity to dream, and
were enrolled in school. Through word of mouth, the community of GRACE in Thailand grew to more than seventy children within three years. Jon and Angie relocated to Thailand in April of 2016 to support the work and help establish GRACE as a Thai foundation. To-

ARE YOU AT RISK FOR MAGNESIUM DEFICIENCY?
Magnesium really is everywhere in the body – it’s the 4th most abundant mineral. It’s involved in hundreds of different biochemical reactions and enzyme sys-
tems, supporting processes like protein synthesis, cell growth, and energy production. It has roles in nerve function, muscle control, and blood pressure. Even blood
sugar regulation depends on magnesium. Magnesium works within our cells — the powerhouses, factories and regulators of the body’s systems. Because it is a necessary part of hundreds of biochemical reactions occurring constantly inside our cells, magnesium’s presence or absence affects the brain, the muscles, and the heart and blood vessels.
Magnesium Deficiency Approximately 80 percent of people have low levels of magnesium. According to Norman Shealy, MD, Ph.D, an American neurosurgeon and a pioneer in pain medicine, “Every known illness is associated with a magnesium deficiency and it’s the missing cure to many diseases.” Not only does magnesium help regulate calcium, potassium and sodium, but it’s essential for cellular health and a critical component of over 300 biochemical functions in the body. Even glutathione, your body’s most pow-
erful antioxidant that has even been called “the master antioxidant,” requires magnesium for its synthesis. Unfortunately, most people are not aware of this, and millions suffer daily from magnesium deficiency without even knowing it.
Causes of Magnesium Deficiency 1. Soil depletion, genetically modified organisms (GMOs) and the chemicals in our food
2. Digestive diseases 3. Chronic disease and medication use is at an all-time high. Magnesium Deficiency Symptoms Many people may be magnesium deficient and not even know it. Here are some key symptoms to look out for that could indicate if you are deficient: Leg Cramps, Insomnia, Muscle Pain/Fibromyalgia, Anxiety, High Blood Pressure, Type II Diabetes, Fatigue, Migraine Headaches, Osteoporosis. The four most prominent atrisk groups include: 1. People with gastrointestinal complaints 2. People with type II diabetes 3. The elderly 4. People struggling with alcohol dependence Magnesium Supplementation: Inner or Outer? Though several forms of magnesium supplements are available (Magnesium Chelate, Magnesium Citrate, Magnesium Glycinate, Magnesium Threonate…), tablets

or capsules have to pass through the stomach and unfortunately the action of stomach acids and digestive enzymes, often reduces uptake and bioavailability so significantly that very little may actually reach the bloodstream. Here is a great alternative called “Transdermal Application” Transdermal application (Magnesium Oil) Bypassing the stomach and liver means a much greater percentage of the active ingredient goes straight into the bloodstream where it’s needed. In many cases, transdermal methods are used to help avoid potential side effects such as stomach upset or drowsiness. The full potential for transdermal medicine has not been utilized to any great extent by modern allopathic medicine though it has been practiced for thousands of years in hot springs around the world. It has been reported that the traditional method of introducing magne-
sium to the body through oral supplements is substantially less effective than the transdermal route, but plays an even more critical role in applications to soft tissue. Transdermal delivery allows for the liver and stomach to be bypassed, which translates into a
much greater percentage of the active ingredient reaching the bloodstream, and more specifically to the site of application.
Magnesium Oil is the ultimate daily ritual to help develop a strong internal fitness to stay resilient to both physical and emotional stress and in maintaining an alkaline condition. - Strengthens and balances body and mind - Improves sleep quality - Promotes detoxification - Reduces stress levels, muscle tension and fatigue - Boost the immune system - Restores drained minerals - Supports overall skin health, natural moisturizer Magnesium Oil and Sport Medicine Transdermal magnesium therapy offers an exciting breakthrough in sports medicine. Coaches can now treat injuries, prevent them, and increase athletic performance all at the same time. Magnesium Oil enhances recovery from athletic activity or injuries. It reduces pain and inflammation while propagating quicker regeneration of tissues. Topical application of magnesium chloride increases flexibility, which helps avoid injury. It also increases strength and end u r a n c e . Transdermal Magnesium Therapy is a boon for athletes, coaches and doctors who practice sports medicine. Try it for free! HealtHut offers a high quality Magnesium oil that comes with a sprayer and you can use topically. If you have muscle pain or cramp, just come over our shop to try it and you will feel the benefits within 90 seconds! Glass bottle 450ml or 50ml are available. DR.KAMALJIT SINGH HEALTH TIPS:PHYSICAL SYMPTOMS OF ANXIETY
“Feeling anxious isn’t all in your head. See what it can do to your heart, breathing, and sleep – even your libido”. – Dr. Kamaljit Singh.
Rapid Heartbeat: -When something scares you suddenly, like a loud noise, it triggers stress hormones (adrenaline, noradrenaline, cortisol) that make your heart beat faster and harder. You may feel like it’s beating unevenly (heart palpitations). Over time, if it happens too much, you’re more likely to have high blood pressure, heart disease, hardened arteries,
high cholesterol, stroke, and heart attack. - Fast Breathing: -Along with a pounding heart, you might start breathing more quickly when you’re scared or anxious, or feel like you can’t get enough air. Some people breathe so fast that they get light-headed or pass out. It can be serious if you already have breathing problems because of asthma, lung disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and other conditions. Fight or Flight Response: - It’s a set of symptoms you get when you react to something scary. Your fright triggers the release of certain hormones

that send signals through your brain, spinal cord, and nerves. Blood and fuel (glucose) floods to your arms and legs to prepare to meet the threat with one of two
options: fight or run away. Your pulse and breathing speed up. You also might get sweaty and shaky. Tense Muscles: -Your body gets ready to protect itself when you’re anxious. If you’re really startled, your muscles tense all at once. They usually relax once the stress passes, but if it happens a lot or if you feel worried all the time, your tight shoul-
der and neck muscles can lead to headaches, including migraines. Relaxation techniques like deep breathing and yoga may help. High Blood Sugar: Stress hormones can give you a
burst of this instant fuel when you’re scared or anxious. It’s helpful if you need to run from danger or fight it. Normally your body gathers up and stores the extra sugar. But high or constant anxiety could keep your blood sugar too high for too long. This can lead to diabetes as well as heart disease, stroke, and kidney disease. Sleep Problems: -Worry can keep you up at night. “Did I pay the power bill?” “Did I forget to feed the dog?” Poor sleep can ramp up anxiety even more, especially if you have to work the next day. A to-do list might lessen anxiety by breaking down problems to solve. And good sleep habits could help. Try to have regular sleep and wake times. Go to bed in a dark, cool bedroom.

anxiety can mess up your body’s stress response and cause you to put on some unwanted pounds. Men’s Sexual Problems: -At first, stress can trigger your fight-or-flight system, which makes the hormone testosterone. That can make you feel more frisky. But another stress hormone, cortisol, can have the opposite effect. Over the long term, worry can actually decrease testosterone, change or lessen your
Also do a gradual slowdown at night to ease into bedtime. Problems Fighting Off Germs: -Your body may not beat back infections so well when you worry. Even just thinking about something that made you angry or sad can lessen the response of your immune system — the body’s defense against germs — in as little as 30 minutes. Anxiety that stretches over days, months, or years can take an even bigger toll on the immune system, mak-
lems like irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) or sores in your stomach lining called ulcers. Talk to your doctor if you have serious belly pain or vomit when you’re anxious. Bowel Problems: -Anxiety can make you constipated. Doctors aren’t sure exactly why, but it may be that being anxious changes the way you use the muscles that control how you poop. It can also give you diarrhea because it changes the way your body absorbs certain nutrients. Your gut may be especially sensitive to stress if you already have IBS or another digestive issue. Your doctor might be able to help you manage anxiety triggers in your life. Weight Gain:- Part of the problem is that anxiety can sometimes make you eat more. It also may lead you to seek foods with lots of fat and sugar, which have more calories. And these foods seem to “work” in the sense that

The cortisol stress hormone may also lessen desire. High levels of stress can affect your cycle. It can cause missed or uneven periods or make them longer or more painful. It may worsen cramping, bloating, and mood swings in the week before your period, sometimes called premenstrual syndrome (PMS). Anxiety can also make it harder to get pregnant. SECOND BRITISH PASSPORT UPDATES TO THE THAILAND ARRIVAL CARD - TM6 A little known fact by British citizens is that in certain circumstances it is possible to obtain a

If you only have one passport then you cannot travel while your visa application is being processed. However, a second passport removes that restriction.
second British passport if you can prove that you need to travel a lot and this is restricted by only holding one passport. If you are a frequent traveller who often needs to apply for many different country visas (usually you need to be employed by an international company) then it is possible to obtain a second British passport. The benefits of this are being able to travel on your second passport while your first passport is held
The British Government will not issue a second UK passport to everyone as this would result in doubling their workload. Key Visa can advise you on whether or not you may be eligible and process the application for you here in Thailand. Your second UK passport will not be a duplicate of your first passport, it will have a unique passport number, expiry date and photo. The application is treated as a first passport application so you need to supply proof of citizenship in the same way that you did when you applied for your very first passport. You will need to have your application verified by a British Citizen
of good standing who has known you for at least two years and a letter on headed notepaper from your employer explaining why you need a second British passport.
Key Visa can help you with any British Passport enquiries or issues in Thailand. Including renewing your British passport or obtaining a second British passport, obtaining a first British passport for your half Thai (or other nationality) children, renewing your child’s passport (this is a slightly different process to adults), helping you if you have lost your passport and any other enquiries which you may have. Key Visa have been established in Pattaya for over 15 years and handle British passport renewals and applications for expats all over Thailand. You can renew your passport or handle any passport issues by yourself at the British Embassy in Bangkok and we do not tell people otherwise. However, we offer this service to take away the stress and hassle of taking time from your busy schedule to make appointments, travel to Bangkok and process all of the documentation required. Key Visa are here to make your life in Thailand easier!
Frequent visitors to Thailand will be familiar with the TM6 card which foreigners and Thai nationals alike are required to complete when entering Thailand via any air or land port.

The departure card on the left hand side is the part which will be returned to you and must be
The new information asks if you are travelling on a scheduled or
The new style TM6 card was first introduced in September 2017, but only became in full use in late 2017/early 2018. In case you are not aware you are required to keep the portion of the card returned to you by the immigration officer and complete it with new details when you leave Thailand. Be really careful not to lose this card as if you lose it then you have to go through the process of filing a report at a local police station or at the airport police station if you do not realise it is missing until you are about to leave. This is very time consuming and could even cause you to miss your flight so check your passport to make sure it is still there!
kept in your passport. Additional information is now being requested which includes phone number, email address, occupation, purpose of visit and length of stay. Although this hasn’t been confirmed it is probably not advisable to add a length of stay which exceeds your current permission to stay or the allowance of a visa on arrival.
Unlike in previous times, immigration no longer staple it into your passport, it is merely inserted between the pages and being much smaller than it used to be, it is very easy to lose.
There is also a new section on the back for non Thai residents which requests further information about your travel schedule and lifestyle and appears to be for the purposes of tourism re-
chartered flight, whether you are part of a tour group, if it is your first trip to Thailand and the type of accommodation you are staying in. The final column has check boxes which again request the purpose of your visit and ask about your yearly income. Whether leaving any of this information blank would cause issues at the point of entry is unclear. The new forms also have a barcode for faster departure and hopefully easier reporting if you happen to lose it.
WHAT DOCUMENTS DO YOU NEED TO BUY OR SELL A CAR IN THAILAND?
If you are living long term in Thailand, you may wish at some point to buy a car in your own name. You may hear that a foreigner cannot register a car in their own name but this is not true, it just requires collating the correct documents and following the process. If you buy a car from a dealer, they will most likely do most of the work for you and as a for-
eigner this is the most straightforward way to buy a car. The most basic documents required are: - Your passport and copies showing your Thai visa, this should be the minimum of a tourist visa - A residence certificate from your local immigration office - Your Thai work permit if you have one (if you have a work permit you don’t need a residence

complete the transfer by yourself. Please note that the transfer documents usually need to be completed in Thai, so you will need some assistance from a Thai friend. Selling your car is a similar process, just make sure that you are always in a position to get a residence certificate as if you cannot sell the car without it. If you leave Thailand, someone else cannot
sell the car on your behalf, if you cannot return to Thailand for any reason such as illness or being banned from entering the country then the car cannot be sold. It is also possible for foreigners to obtain car finance in Thailand. There are a few options for this but the most straightforward is financing a brand new car from a registered dealer. You will need to pay a deposit of at least 20%

PEC Meeting Programme – Fridays, 07th-28th June 2019 transfer services both digitally via the DeeMoney App and at our signature outlets across Bangkok. This hybrid model allows the customers to choose between cash and account credit mode depending upon their requirements. DeeMoney has positioned its services to cut through the industrywide restrictions and regulations that banking channels and other digital platforms use to drive costs up for money transfers, first starting with disrupting the traditional tiered fee model used by banks and traditional money transfer operators. Adding another first to a long list is our onetime, one-document registration process, which enables us to serve the underserved and unbanked in Thailand. It was the first non-bank licensed for international money transfers and currency exchange and is expanding rapidly through its model of making transfers safer, faster and easier. Dee Money is the financial services platform of Sawasdeeshop, 17 years a leading voice telecom provider with over 40 brands of calling cards and 2 million users in Thailand. DeeMoney is also the ONLY international transfer services that offer “Branch Free Transfers”, with our DeeMoney App so you can send money from your phone to 17 countries around the world! If you have lower back pain walking exercise – low impact for weight - with guided stretching helps to improve blood flow, bring oxygen and nutrients into your muscles. Five benefits of stretching include reduced muscle tension, increased movements in joints, muscular co-ordination, improves posture, reduces stress and bodily aches. Stretching is the deliberate lengthening of muscles to increase their flexibility. They help warm the body up before any strenuous activity, so decreasing the risk of injury. It’s not enough to build muscle and achieve aerobic fitness. You need to think about flexibility, too. You may think of stretching as something performed only by runners or gymnasts. But we all need to stretch in order to protect our mobility and independence. “A lot of people don’t understand that stretching has to happen on a regular basis. It should be daily,” says David Nolan, a physical therapist at Harvard-affiliated Massachusetts General Hospital. Without it, the muscles shorten and become tight. Then, when you call on the muscles for activity, they are weak and unable to extend all the way. That puts you at risk for joint pain, strains, and muscle damage. For example, sitting in a chair all day results in tight hamstrings in the back of the thighs. That can make it harder to extend your leg or straighten your knee all the way, which inhibits walking. All it takes to warm up the muscles before stretching is five to 10 minutes of light activity, such as a quick walk. Diana Mountanos will help you learn more about the benefits of stretching, plus how to start a stretching routine. She will also discuss how to calm ourselves down over CELL PHONE ADDICTION
“In our daily lives the one thing that is creating more physical damage to our nerves and long term health is the excessive use of smart phones. It has now been classed as more chromic than alcoholism or drug addiction. If you take more than 3 selfies per day and post on FB you are considered to have a personal fetish about posting yourself. FB Narcissism. It is a serious disease. People now take pictures of themselves all day long and this is now classified as a chronic health addiction. The addiction to the cell phone has become so chronic that many human beings no longer read books, they are unable to relax, they are constantly checking to see if they have message alerts on their cell phone. Face Book has become a social a disease for personal reasons.” Diana Mountanos has lived most of her entire life with a focus on exercise and living a healthy lifestyle. She was a competitive back stroke swimmer in her teens. Sprint relay running, archery, and competitive swimming were her high school passions. She worked for Tennant Health Care as the Director of Orthopedics and ‘Health South’ as the Director of Community Relations during the 1990’s. She saw a lot of severe injuries during this time and spent a lot of time with people in intensive care where she assisted the nurses in the assessment process. She led seminars on knee/hip replacement as well as spinal fusions and back surgery cases with surgeons. This poised her for what she would experience in her future. BUNKER BOYS Monday, May 6th Plutaluang North & West. 1st Jimmy Carr (17) 32 points 2nd Takeshi Hakozaki (12) 32 points 3rd Michael Brett (16) 31 points Near pins Les Humphreys, Takeshi Hakozaki, Jimmy Carr, & Michael Brett. Due to the Coronation Holiday when most courses put up their green fees we decided to make a change of venue and play the Plutaluang Navy Course which still had very reasonable non-holiday rates. The course was in surpris-
ingly good condition and even more of a surprise was that it was very quiet despite the holiday. The water levels in the lakes were the lowest anyone can remember, on the lighthouse hole one could almost walk in a straight line tee to green without getting wet feet, incidentally, three of the first group put their tee shots where the water should have been. Once again the temperatures were torrid and with no ice at the drinks stations conditions were very uncomfortable. It seems the more things change the more they stay the same, as
this weeks golf continued where last week left off with more disappointingly low scores. Only thirty-two points were enough to secure first place with Jimmy Carr edging out Takeshi Hakozaki on countback. Another horror day with the putter confined Michael Brett to third with thirty-one points. Near pins were all taken today with Les Humphrey, Takeshi, Jimmy, and Michael all with one each. Hopefully, Wednesday’s game will see a return to more respectable scoring. Wednesday, May 8th Pattana Sports & Country Club B &A 1st Jimmy Carr (17) 38 points 2nd Keith Hemmings (21) 38 points 3rd Les Cobban (7) 37 points Near pins, Keith Hemmings, & Les Cobban X 2. A dull overcast sky and a nice cool breeze ensured temperatures were more benign than those we have experienced in weeks and made a nice change from the searing heat of the last month. The Pattana course was in superb condition, the fairways had just been mowed, the greens were a nice speed, and the bunkers well groomed so all in all excellent conditions for golf. It is pleasing to report that after a run of low scores in recent times a much-
improved performance across the board was seen today with all players putting in a good effort and returning good scores. Les Cobban was burning up the course until the par six when he went out of bounds off the tee and ended up with a wipe, thereafter fading away to finally end up in third place with thirty-seven points still a respectable score off a seven handicap. First place went to Jimmy Carr on thirty-eight points edging out Keith Hemmings on countback, is there no end to this run of great form from Jimmy ?. A couple of others had rounds in the mid-thirties which on most occasions would be enough to win a place at least. Keith Hennings took a near pin with Les Cobban taking two.
Friday, May 10th Khao Kheow 1st Ross Schiffte (18) 37 points 2nd Les Cobban (7) 36 points 3rd Stuart Brown (9) 34 points Near pins. Geoff Parker, & Les Cobban X 2 As usual at the Bunker Boys people come and go on a regular basis, this week we bade farewell to Nial Glover, Keith Hemmings, and Les Humphreys. The Khao Kheow course was in good condition with the exception of the greens which are showing bare patches and a bit of repair work is required on many. The weather today was again overcast so milder in temperature and more comfortable,
at times the breeze was quite strong. There was some excellent golf played today with Les Cobban taking three birdies and Ross Schiffte two. Both were firing on all cylinders at different times throughout the round. Ross had four consecutive single put holes and looked like tearing the course apart but on the closing three holes only managed one point on each, nevertheless it was enough to take first place with thirty-seven points. Les Cobban took second place one stroke back with Stuart Brown on thirty-four taking third. As usual Geoff Parker had a near pin with Les taking two.
GOLF CHAIRMAN REPORT Hello to all PSC Golfers, time for a brief word from your Golf Chairman. There is plenty of work in progress, which I hope will be of benefit to all of you; in the meantime, I have a number of events planned over the coming few
months. I am staying with the “novelty theme”, as most of our Member Groups, play Stableford as the weekly norm. Next Thursday is a 2 person scramble at Phoenix Gold On June 11th, subject to the rate being confirmed, we are at Greenwood on B & C nines, to play a rainbow. A simple yet fun format; you choose your tee box:- 6 red, 6 white and 6 blue, for men and 9 red and 9 white for ladies.
Full details to be released soon. In July, on the 15th, we go to Laem Chabang, making use of their excellent value Sport Day rate, first tee is at 8.36am. The format for this event will be a 2 ball better ball. On August 15th, we are at Parichat to play a 4 person scramble, with an 8am start, then on September 12th at Eastern Star at 8.32 to play a waltz. For those of you not familiar with the waltz format,

it’s a team game. It works better as a 3 person team as there 18 holes which is divisible by 3:- on hole 1, the best score to count; on hole 2, the 2 best scores to count; on hole 3, the 3 best scores to count. That cycle repeats all the way to the 18th. Our special in October, from the 7th to the 9th, we have a reservation for about 40 players at Soi Dao, the full details can be found on the flyer soon.

LINKS GOLF SOCIETY Maurice’s Memory Returns On Wednesday, 15th May, the Pattaya Links Golf Society was spoilt with a competition at Burapha on the A and B nines which were in fine condition. Fairways were well grassed, the Bermuda rough was tantalizingly short but difficult to escape with any real success and the greens were consistent but a little “grainy”. Regular cloud cover helped the day to be more comfortable for the ardent golfers. The field was restricted to a single flight and most golfers performed well enough to set a field average of 36 points. Of course, there were some outstanding performances with Frank Riley’s 39 points being only good enough for fifth place, after countback, with Tip Briney heading him in fourth. Third place went to Lee Rodman with 41 points on his final round this trip, losing out on countback to runner-up Peter Seil who produced a level par 72 off the sticks. The winner was Maurice Roberts with a blast from the past, his 43
points being a mix of consummate golf skills and outrageous luck. Maurice has suffered golfing amnesia for more than a few rounds but this day his memory was back as he negotiated the course with panache. The long awaited Green Jacket sat well on his shoulders. Near pins went to Kevin Rogers (A3 and A6), Livio Marrone (B3) and Maurice Roberts (B8) whilst the consolation best nine awards went to John Coetzee (17 front nine c/back) and Len Jones (22 back nine c/back). Extra technicals were in place after the farce in the previous round when the NP cards were not returned so nearest the pin (third shot) on the par fives saw Craig Brodey, Andrew Purdie, Jamie Bootenbaugh and Russell Spratt successful. Unsurprisingly, as low handicappers, they were amongst the favourites for the awards. At the other end of the scale Barry Oats took the “wig” for his low score of 25 points whilst Phil Davies struggled on his third round in three days, following a break of three weeks, to take the day’s “silly
hat” for a lowly nine point haul on the A nine. As always Burapha was a joy to play and the PLGS golfers rate this as one of the best golf days in the month, on the A and B nines of course. Winners at Burapha 1st Place-Maurice Roberts (14) 43 pts 2nd Place-Pete Seil (5)-41 pts c/ back 3rd Place -Lee Rodman (11) - 41 pts 4th Place -Tip Briney (26) - 39 pts c/back 5th Place- Frank Riley (23) – 39 pts Best Front Nine ( non winners) – John Coetzee – 17 pts c/back Best Back Nine ( non winners) Len Jones – 22 pts c/back Pattaya Links Golf Society is a PSC affiliated, friendly group and welcomes golfers of all levels. We play Monday ,Wednesday and Friday.” Links” Bar is towards the Southern end of Soi Buakhow. Check the Big board out front for upcoming games schedule. Sign up at Links Bar or online to join us for a day of golf.
BILLABONG WEDNESDAY, MAY 15TH, 2019 GREEN VALLEY STABLEFORD Changes are taking place at the Green Valley complex, or is it Barcelona Valley now. St. Andrews will be closed until November, one may be of the opinion, for major renovations. But Green Valley, in an effort to encourage non-members to play the course, have reduced the green fee on Tuesdays and Wednesdays to 800 baht. The course is showing some signs of recovery after some recent rain but more is required for the course
to revert to previous standards. The ladies today were unusually quiet in their performances for the winner, Miss Yen (20), won the day with only 33 points, possibly, the lowest winning total in memory. She had a steady outward nine but stumbled coming home with only 15 points but still good enough to take the plaudits. Miss Porn (21) was a close 2nd with 32 points recording only 2 points on four of the holes with Miss May (10), uncharacteristically, having only 1 point on seven holes. The men, for once, outscored the ladies with Bill Marsden(16) play-
ing very steadily throughout, with 19 points on each half to relegate Jeff North (10) with the same total, to 2nd place by just 1 point on the homeward journey. Selwyn Wegner (15) was surprised to occupy 3rd place with 35 points with a much improved performance on the back nine and 19 points. Auke Engelkes had the only two. Our photo shows Bill, Jeff, Sel and Sandy’s son in law, Craig, who is returning home on Monday with his wife Elizabeth and 2 children after a holiday in Thailand. William.

SIAM COUNTRY RESORT Average week On Tuesday 7th May we went with 3 groups to Plutaluang, where we the East and South course played. The course was in good condition with good fairways and good greens. We had partly clouded weather with sometimes a nice breeze The course is not easy and we had no top scores. Paddy Devereux was today the most consistent player and won with 36 stable ford points. Martin Hayes followed good and became second with 35 stable ford points just before Jonathan Pratt with 34 stable ford points. The nears to the pin were for Willem Lasonder, Jonathan Pratt
and Dave Smith. On Thursday 9th May was our venue Treasure Hill. The course was very in very good condition and it was nice playing here. We had again a little bit overcast weather and it was not too hot. The greens were good, but not all of the same speed. Today was Willem Lasonder the most consistent player and winner with 37 stable ford points. Jonathan Pratt was second with 35 stable ford points and Dave Smith with 32 stable ford points. Unfortunately we said farewell to Ty Anderson, who is going back for the summer to his home country. The nears to the pin were for Neil Harvey and Jim Payne. Siam Country Resort Accommo-
dation - Restaurant - Bar Siam Country Road, Soi Polo 1, 39 Moo 9 Pong, Banglamung. GROWLING SWAN Played out of “Bogey’s Bar & Grill.” STABLEFORD PATTANA G.C. – 13th of MAY, 2019. Ian Ward has the one lesson and comes back to “Blitz the Field.” Fourteen golfers yet again were out to play a course that we have not been to for such a long time, Pattana GC! Attraction was a G/F of 900B a little pricey still when you add on Cart & Caddie Fee! This is a lovely course made up of three nine hole courses, we played courses A & B and it was in that order. We played this course from the front tees. Still with the weather was a little on the warm side with a slight breeze on the odd occasion The somewhat unusual rains that we have had recently has freshened the course up but like most courses in this region the lack of water has become evident and again if the rains do not come courses will be in trouble! We would play the One Flight only with three placing’s, all novelties
were up for grabs! Ian Ward returned to the Club house with a very good score of 44 points, he appeared quite happy as I would be my last two rounds add up to only one more than that.
Second past the post was Colin Stielow, four shots behind todays leader. Third spot and the last on the podium goes to Keith Buchanan, Colin’s playing partener. All in all some good scores were amassed on the day. WINNERS from PATTANA. 1st Ian Ward (11) 44 pts. 2nd Colin Stielow (25) 40 pts. 3rd Keith Buchanan (12) 38 pts. NEAR THE PIN. A3 Rob Cross A8 Mark Stapleton
B3 Mark Stapleton B7 J/Pot LONG FIRST PUTT. A9. Ian Ward. B9 Keith Buchanan. In the photos we have today’s runners up, Colin Stielow, Keith Buchanan with Peter Bass an old sponsor of ours at The Growling Swan.! Back at the Swan we welcomed Dave Sargent & Gary Sneper, we also welcomed back Peter Bass joining after a 2 year absence. Good to see you Pete. Only the one farewell and we sadly said good bye to Mark Stapleton, mate you will be sadly missed. Travel safe and see you again soon. D-For was set free by Alex and the punters and players at Bogeys Bar and Grill were generous as always with their contributions towards the needy in Pattaya. All are thanked for this. For serious golfing with a dash of fun, the Growling Swan welcomes golfers of all persuasions, be it young or old, male or female. We generally play on Mondays and Thursdays at any one of the fine courses around Pattaya. Please contact Peter Grey for bookings or any information on 086 1503 086. “TAKE IT EASY HOLE IN ONE BONUS GOES TO B5000 THIS MONTH! THE ‘COLONEL’ BIDS FAREWELL Friday 3rd May, 2019 at Pattaya Country Club. Bob Pearce – aka ‘the Colonel’ after his Military career played his last game of golf at Pattaya Country Club where he has been a member of the Monday Club since its inception some 12 years ago. During that time he has had 4 ‘Aces’ with 2 on the 16th – over the water but not on the 7th. Bob was joined by some 30 friends from both the Monday Club and Pat’s bar. There were 2 golf competitions run by John Aylott, John Player and Tim Knight – but it was Bob’s day. Bob had been in Pattaya and a PSC member for many years and has now decided to return briefly to the UK before moving to Spain. After the announcements of competitions it was Bob who made his own presentations with 2 near pins and some token prizes from a lucky dip. Nigel Cannon then expressed to Bob on behalf of those present all good wishes for the future and to keep in touch. He then presented Bob with a memento from members of the Monday Club. THE JUKEBOX
Since my early teens, I’ve always wanted to own an original vinyl 45s record playing jukebox. My early memories of going down to the local café with some small change from my mother to buy beans on toast with a cup of tea,
leaving just enough for a couple of selections on the jukebox is so treasured, that I’m now thrilled to have purchased an original U.S.A. Rock Ola GB Imperial which has been cleaned up and reconditioned beautifully. I’ve loaded it with some classic 7" vinyl 45s from the 60s together with some of my own productions from the 70s and 80s before CDs became the dominant music purchase. A jukebox is a partially automated music-playing device, usually a coin-operated machine, that will play a patron’s selection from the

self-contained record collection. The classic jukebox has buttons, with letters and numbers on them, which, when one of each group is entered after each other, a specific record can be selected and played. Coin-operated music boxes and player pianos were the first forms of automated coin-operated musical devices. These devices used paper rolls, metal disks, or metal cylinders to play a musical selection on an actual instrument, or on several actual instruments, enclosed within the device. In the 1890s these devices were joined by machines which used recordings instead of actual physi-
cal instruments. Early designs, upon receiving a coin, unlocked the mechanism, allowing the listener to turn a crank that simultaneously wound the spring motor and placed the reproducer’s stylus in the starting groove. Frequently, exhibitors would equip many of these machines with listening tubes (acoustic headphones) and array several of these machines in “phonograph parlors”, allowing the patron to select between multiple records, each played on its own machine. In 1918 Hobart C. Niblack patented an apparatus that automatically changed records, leading to one of the first selective jukeboxes being introduced in 1927 by the Automated Musical Instrument Company, later known as AMI. In 1928 Justus P. Seeburg, who was manufacturing player pianos, combined an electrostatic loudspeaker with a record player that was coin-operated. This Audiophone machine was wide and bulky because it had eight separate turntables mounted on a rotating Ferris wheel-like device, allowing patrons to select from eight different records. Later versions of the jukebox in-
cluded Seeburg’s Selectophone with 10 turntables mounted vertically on a spindle. By maneuvering the tone arm up and down, the customer could select from 10 different records. Many manufacturers produced jukeboxes, including: 1890s Wurlitzer, late 1920s Seeburg, 1930s “Rock-Ola” (whose name is actually based on that of the company founder, David Cullen Rockola), Sound Leisure and Crosley. Greater levels of automation were gradually introduced. As electrical recording and amplification improved there was increased demand for coin-operated phonographs. The word “jukebox” came into use in the United States beginning in 1940, apparently derived from the familiar usage “juke joint”, derived from the Gullah word “juke” or “joog”, meaning disorderly, rowdy, or wicked. In 1950 the Seeburg Corporation introduced an all 45 rpm vinyl record jukebox. Since the 45s were smaller and lighter, they soon became the dominant juke-
ing before home hi fi equipment came into popular price ranges. The invention of the portable radio in the 1950s and the portable
cassette tape deck in the 1960s were key factors in the decline of the jukebox. They enabled people to have their own selection of music with them, wherever they were. JUKE BOX JOKE – Knock, knock. – Who’s there? – Wurlitzer – Wurlitzer who? – Wurlitzer one for the money…….
box media for the last half of the 20th century. Traditional jukeboxes once were an important source of income for record publishers, receiving the newest recordings first. They became an important markettesting device for new music, since they tallied the number of plays for each title. They offered a means for the listener to control the music outside of their home, before audio technology became portable. They played music on demand without commercials. They also offered the opportunity for high fidelity listen-
