LETTER FROM THE EDITOR Hello Beautiful,My name is Tammie Pike the creator of this amazing magazine that shares so many amazing women's & men's (occasionally) stories, knowledge, and experiences. I am a magic seeker, speaker, mumpreneur, mum of 3 and wife. We live in rural Queensland, Australia. Knowing this magazine is read all over the world, I would like to share my personal experience with isolation and my thoughts as we navigate this time. Right now I am loving what this time has created for my family and me.. In this time that so many are struggling to just survive that might be offensive to those who are experiencing so many terrible situations and feeling immense fear, yet to dim my experience or my life/light/love would be dis-empowering and I believe we must honour all parts of our lives including the hard, the easy and the joyful. None of it wrong or right, it just is. Each journey unique and beautifully different.

It all hasn't been all roses, yet I am accepting that it is all as it should be regardless of how hard it seems at the time, as I have grown immensely from each experience. The last couple of months in my life has seen me: Lose My little Daschund Frankie who passed away from a snake bite it happened whilst I was in Fiji in February when I was facilitating at a retreat. This was absolutely shattering as Frankie was my every day and to come home with him not to be there broke my heart. I am mending as is my family. Grief is a great teacher to learn from and it truly does inspire gratitude, perspective as well as embracing the now. Slowing down, my in-person retreats teaching women how to create their own empire by creating their own digital magazine were cancelled and now are going to be online so watch this space. Being asked to be a facilitator again for The Ultimate Girls Week Away, this time in Vietnam in March 2021 which I am so excited about. Check it out. It truly is life-changing. This time the retreat will have the amazing Gabrielle Bernstein & Sark + other amazing speakers and facilitators, I hope to see you there! Continuing to work on curating an amazing co-authored book with other incredible women and I can’t wait to share more about it in the next issue, so watch this space. Go camping a lot up the back of our property with the fam. This time away from tech and everyday life has filled up my cup immensely and I find myself seeking more and more time out in nature.

One thing that I am committed to more then ever is my morning rituals of journaling, reading, moving my body then being active with my family. My husband, son 9, daughters 6 & 9, 3 dogs and 5 horses and I all work out together on a 1.6km dirt track my husband made on our property. I have been asking the big questions such as who am I?, why do I do what I am doing?, what is my purpose? and so on. I am happy with the answers I am finding within. My whole life is changing and that is shaping how I show up in my family as a mother and wife as well as reflecting in my businesses. This time has made me realise what I love to do most and who I love to do it with. I have let go many things that I was doing which wasn't necessary or bringing me joy, I feel so much happier and content because of doing so. What are your tips to thrive during Covid-19 and isolation?

Briana Seaton

Briana Seaton Coaching (Life & Business Coach) My biggest tip is knowing ‘it is ok to not be ok’ all the time. To break each day down in to moments and take each moment as they come. Acknowledge and accept your ‘new normal’ and know that tomorrow’s ‘normal’ might not be the same as today’s.The more we resist and cause friction, the harder it is to keep stepping forward. Try to be in flow and allow whatever the day brings to come to you. Be kind to yourself and know and trust that we will get through this together. Stay connected and reach out for help if life gets a bit too much to bear alone. Much love Briana x

Manage Stress

Honour Your Body And Manage Stress with Dr. Fabianna Marie

S

tress in an unavoidable part of life. We experience some form of it everyday, but let’s throw in this unprecedented time with COVID-19 and stress is thru the roof. The amount of anxiety we are all feeling is happening because we think we have to figure it ALL out ALL at once. We want answers and we want them now, we want a cure and we want it now! Life’s answers aren't that magic, there is no wand to wave and make this better in an instant. But we can have the tools and knowledge to arm ourselves to stay safe, calm, and healthy.

Let’s start with laughter. Laughter really is the best medicine and best of all, it costs us nothing. Laughter releases endorphins that improve mood and decrease levels of the stress-causing hormones cortisol and adrenaline. Laughing tricks your nervous system into making you happy. So choose your favorite movie that makes you bust out laughing, put down your phone, be in the moment, and LAUGH!

Throw a 5 minute dance party. Exercise doesn’t have to be power lifting or training for a marathon. Anything to get your blood moving releases those endorphins and will improve your mood instantly! So every few hours crank up the music and throw a 5 minute dance party. I bet you will even check off laughter as well. Sleep- If you are anything like me, my head hits the pillow and my mind wanders with all the thoughts I couldn’t acknowledge throughout the day. Lack of sleep also causes stress. So let’s make sure your sleep is the best you can get. Turn off the TV about a half hour before bed, dim the lights and give your mind time to wind down and destress. Practice deep breathing exercises and even meditation. Keep a journal and write down all the things you haven’t acknowledged throughout the day. PAGE 10 MUMPRENEUR MOVEMENT

Remember this pandemic will be in our history books. Write down your fears, anxiety, the good the bad and the ugly. Then I want you to draw a star in the middle of the page. For every point of the star I want you to write what your are grateful for. Gratitude releases a calming affect and this will help to put your mind at ease. Make sure this is the last thing you say to yourself before you drift off to sleep. Repeat those 5 words you put on the points of the star, then drift off to a beautiful nights sleep. Along with the stress and anxiety of living during this pandemic we need to arm ourselves with the best immune boosting vitamins and natural remedies.

It’s been said so many times before but it is true, true true! Vitamin C should be your best friend. The best foods to boost the vitamin C in your diet are oranges, grapefruits, tangerines, strawberries, bell peppers, kale, and broccoli. If your diet isn’t already saturated with these foods and you seem to find yourself needing more. Because let’s face it, it’s not easy to meet your daily requirements of 1500mg a day. Make sure you take a Vitamin C supplement that is in it’s whole form, that is high in bioflavonoids, is made cleanly, and is 100% certified organic.

Elderberry is my favorite go to for all my patients! Elderberry extracts are rich in Anthocyanins and have been shown to have a broad spectrum of therapeutic and pharmacologic properties. Elderberry’s ability to improve the immune system and calm inflammation helps to treat numerous ailments. It can be taken in syrup or pill form as long as it’s 100% natural and organic. Zinc is vital for a healthy immune system, correctly synthesizing DNA, and healing wounds. Zinc is an essential mineral involved in numerous enzymes and playing a major role in antioxidant enzymes, brain function, and the immune system. Meats, eggs, and legumes are all natural common sources of zinc but adding an all natural Zinc supplement is a great addition to your arsenal of immune boosting products

Honoring our bodies and arming it with the tools to fight off infections, boost our immune systems, and remain calm is the very thing we DO have control over. Knowledge is power. Information is liberating. Education is the premise of progress. Let’s continue to learn from one another and keep each other safe and healthy.

Change = Thrive

THESE ARE CHANGING TIMES RADZY CHUGH New worlds are emerging. Ones we have not seen or experienced before. So this is the time for you to discover, celebrate and honour your brilliance, magnificence and spark! No circumstance is ever without a silver lining. And this new world comes with a renewed opportunity to unleash yourself. You now have the best opportunity to T.H.R.I.V.E . To Honour, Respect, Ignite, Voice (your) Expression. And to do this, I invite you to step into Freedom, Creativity and Service in your lives.

Freedom It’s more than ‘feeling free to do what you want to do’. It is about unshackling yourself from all the ‘How To’s you’ve been told in your life. It is about un-caging yourself from all the ‘You should’s that people have placed on you and the unchaining from all the ‘You need to’s that people want you to abide by. Freedom is the unlearning of what people have told you about the ‘Truth’ of who you are and the opportunity to be curious and reveal your brilliance to yourself. Freedom is the deep confidence in the idea that who you are in this moment, how you choose to lead your life, how you choose to interact with the world around you … every choice you make is made from a place that feels good and true for you. And THAT is enough. Stand in this space for a second. Take a deep breath. Notice how it feels in your body as you have just read this paragraph.

You now have the best opportunity to T.H.R.I.V.E . To Honour, Respect, Ignite, Voice (your) Expression.

Creativity One thing as a growing adult I had a tough time wrapping my head around was that ‘I am creative’. I had a horrible art teacher and therefore all my art endeavours were dismissed and rejected as a child. Growing up I never associated myself with this word. However, now, I understand that ‘creative’ is not just limited to ‘art’. It is in the ‘art of creating’ and it begins with ‘creating your life’. There is a part of you that yearns to ‘share more of yourself in the world’. Something that has your soul-signature written all over it. Today, I invite you to hone into that. How can you express yourself in a way that feels good and true for you? It can be through the written word, singing, dancing, baking, sketching, gardening, cooking, connecting with nature, speaking, drawing, through any medium of art … the thing that has YOU written all over it. How does it feel in your body as you step into ‘CREATING’ and letting that source energy that lives within you a channel to shine and step out into the world ?

Service You THRIVE when you create an opportunity to share value in the world. When you show up as you, honour your inherent talents and step into offering your work to support those around you. Every opportunity you seize to make a difference, to shift the consciousness, to change status quo, whether in your life, the life of those you love and the greater community by SIMPLY BEING YOU and sharing from your unique set of GIFTS AND TALENT is being of service. This is ultimate thriving My intention of sharing the above is so you know how you’ve got the ingenuity and the gumption to step into Thriving in your life. You simply have to turn your gaze inward and begin to create that transparent, open and committed relationship with yourself.

Isolation

Thriving

Thriving Amongst The Chaos

T

Here is hardly a person alive today who hasn't been impacted by the current pandemic. For women, this has been an even harder transition, especially for those trying to negotiate a world of working at home while homeschooling children.

Enter COVID-19! In less than a couple of weeks, or for some women, a couple of hours, we have been thrown into unimaginable circumstances where our responsibilities and pressures have doubled or tripled with no time to prepare or comprehend. It is exactly these chaotic circumstances that can undo the last decade of self-care and empowerment if we don’t recognise the need to continue putting ourselves first. During my twenty years of addiction and depression, chaos was the main factor that kept me trapped. What I have learnt in sobriety is the need to understand the destructive nature of chaos and find strategies to mitigate the risks and turn challenges into success.

Even those still working are undergoing major pressures in the workforce. It is easy and completely understandable that women around the world are feeling overwhelmed, overworked and completely unprepared. While the feminist movement of the 60s finally gave us the right to vote and the right to be heard, as women we also got swept up in the 90s wave of having it all. Children, work and freedom. As Mumpreneurs I think you would all agree the feminist movement has given us amazing opportunities which have allowed women to fully recognise their potential. On the flip side, it also created an environment where many women sacrificed their health, their families or their work to try and balance an everincreasing load of responsibilities. Bring on the recent decade and women have recognised the need for balance and self-care. The chorus of ‘having it all’ was replaced with women making themselves a priority while searching for meaning and quality in their life. Finding peace with their own choices. I have loved watching this transition for women, where they have become even more powerful as their life choices are directed from within rather than dictated by society. PAGE 16 MUMPRENEUR MOVEMENT

My first piece of advice is to always, and I mean always, put your own physical and mental health first. Prioritise your exercise, your nutrition, your meditation, your alone time or whatever you individually know fills you with joy and peacefulness. That may mean letting the ironing build up, the house stay untidy or accepting that you are not a trained teacher and can only do your best when it comes to homeschooling. You being a happy and more relaxed parent will have a much greater positive impact on your children than any other environmental influence. The next suggestion I have is to take this time to fully appreciate what is important in your life. Like myself, many of you have had to close or pivot your current business. There is no sugarcoating how devastating or stressful the impacts are financially. For me it is not just about the financial; it is also three years of my life invested in my gym business which has been ripped from under my feet. Putting my heart and soul into something I love and now living with the uncertainty that I may never reopen. My initial shock at all of this left me tearful and full of anxiety. But as the weeks have passed, I have begun to enjoy so many aspects of my life again. Prior to this was three years of getting up at 4 am, missing my favourite times of the day in sunrise and sunset and being in a constant state of busy and achievement. The reality is in the past few weeks I have begun to enjoy the downtime, to appreciate not being so busy and have loved having more flexibility in my life. The irony is not lost on me that it took lockdown to gain freedom. I certainly haven’t stopped ‘working’ as while at home with more time on my hands, I have been able to focus on things that I love doing. Learning new skills, developing new online coaching programs, writing blogs and reading books. The difference is I am being drawn to the things that really matter the most to me. The things that don't feel like work at all. So, while the world is undergoing chaos I am thriving.

Take this time to fully appreciate what is important in your life.

Thriving may have different meanings to different people, but for me, it means I am heading in a direction that is my true calling and gives me meaning and purpose. I remember when I used to attend AA meetings that I would feel guilty at being so happy in sobriety when everyone around me was struggling and depressed.

The difference now is I don't feel guilty that I am enjoying my life while the world is in chaos. This current situation has brought me to my knees and made me face my life from a new perspective. It is forcing me to make hard choices. I welcome having a choice and fully intend to ensure the outcome will not only benefit me but ultimately help others. Will you do the same? So, amazing women, this current time will define us, and the coming months will shape our future. My challenge to you is this: do not succumb to the chaos, but rather use this time to create your ultimate lifestyle. Drop those high self-expectations and follow your heart. Embrace the opportunity you have right now to make positive changes in your life to thrive and lead you closer to who you were meant to be. It is okay and normal to struggle and feel defeated at times. It is during times of change and uncertainty that growth occurs so recognise that anxiety, frustration and overwhelm as a necessary part of your journey to greatness. How to Thrive Online in An Uncertain Climate

by Sue Prentice

I

n a time of chaos and extreme adversity, I could not think of a better way to contribute to Mumpreneur than to focusing on how to THRIVE. If you’re anything like me, when I think of thriving, I feel an energy that makes me want to get off my chair. Thoughts and visuals come to life in my mind of success, booming, delight, wealth, prosperity, health and growth. All this seems contrary to what the world has been experiencing during this intense and long period during the current pandemic, COVID-19 and practicing self-distancing.

Governments around the globe are marking the pandemic with the biggest relief packages in history; airlines are grounded and there is not much positive news when you turn on mainstream media. Unemployment predictions are warning us that levels could surpass the very distant Great Depression and so the bad news keep rolling in. Not to mention the toxic blend of truth and lies across social media and the devastation of lives lost and families impacted forever. So how can we begin to thrive?

It has everything to do with our mindset and focus. Without any notice, people’s lives have changed. A pandemic arrived and businesses around the world, of every shape nature and description, have had to reimagine and reinvent their purpose and their offering.

What differentiates those who are thriving?

It’s not about the product or the service; it’s everything about the state of mind and attitude, the ability to get up and dust down and find that inner energy deep down inside you that enables you to take action and see possibilities. For many it’s harder than it seems. One of the earliest psychologists to focus attention on happy individuals and their psychological trajectory was Abraham Maslow, who is most well-known for his ‘hierarchy of needs’. In his quest to understand human motivation and the pursuit of happiness, he formulated a list of basic human needs that had to be fulfilled for maximum psychological health. With a life dedicated to human potential and through many varying studies, PAGE 20 MUMPRENEUR MOVEMENT

Maslow concluded that until people’s basic physiological needs are met, they cannot focus anything else. A simple explanation would be how a person in a war zone is oblivious to danger in pursuit of food to eat. It is important to consider where others are at right now with this in mind and the degree we’re impacted differently. Psychology Today describes what life has been like for us for the most part until recently, “In terms of Maslow’s hierarchy, most normal adults can be thought of as working, generally, on the upper parts of the pyramid. Trying to figure out love needs (such as trying to re-ignite a longterm romantic relationship), taking steps to advance your esteem needs (by, perhaps, applying for leadership positions within your organization), and/or trying to achieve that elusive state of self-actualization (perhaps by meditating, doing yoga, or going on retreats in the mountains, for instance).” The pandemic has impacted every one of us in some way and every country in the world, effectively knocking many of us down to the bottom of the pyramid. This is important for businesses as they approach and navigate a way forward.

As a digital marketer helping brands get online, it’s been clear that there are two ways in which people approach the unfortunate status quo: Those who see problems and meet roadblocks around every turn, feeling only someone else can help them. Those who find solutions and get creative, taking on a ‘can-do’ attitude with the aim to survive and then set goals with a belief they are going to thrive.

For many people, things start to fall into place with encouragement and making a conscious decision to thrive every day. Opportunities do exist all around us all. There are great stories I have heard and experienced where people are adjusting. Like one of our clients whose 100 seat restaurants shut down overnight and, in a few days, he was back online, offering his nichesourced grocery line, made up of his locally sourced organic ingredients, offering takeaway and reaching his customers on social media. Plus, the story of the ‘lolly lady’, a confectionary business that decided pivot delivering platters for high tea in her local city and who is busier than ever, a simple idea that came to life because of a need to adjust her offering. There are more! As business owners, and mumpreneurs, we need allow creativity to open up new opportunities followed by immediate action to make them come to life. If you’re a business owner then leading your own clients in this way so they too realise a way to think differently and adjust and still have a profitable and successful business.Perhaps as a business owner the biggest expense one can incur is the money one could have made today but didn’t. I am seeing incredible invention, innovation and creativity. As a mum, partner, business partner and entrepreneur, I see the world changing in front of my eyes and there are masses of positive outcomes all around us. People are being kinder, more collaborative, more respectful, innovative and importantly, more thoughtful about others who are less fortunate, more community oriented and knowledge sharing is happening like it never has before. Our business of helping offline businesses get online, and within days realizing a revenue stream is in itself thriving. It displays hope and the evidence that it IS possible to pivot; and adapt. There are services needed now that we didn’t have a requirement for. This is the time to be creative.

Remember, you can reach the top of the pyramid again when you allow yourself to thrive.

Sue Prentice

If you want to learn something or find your purpose, this is the time! Equally, if you have something to offer, this is the time! The top tier of Maslow’s pyramid is selfactualisation. According to Maslow, self-actualising people perceive reality accurately; after all, it is hard not to do this right now. We have all been grounded by what is happening all around us. These people have a sense of awe, wonder and gratitude about life. Gratitude is important. They are not self-centred but rather problem-centred and focus on how to improve.

Here are my top five tips to help get your purpose-driven business seen in the flurry of a world moving online: 1. Reinvent with a creative marketer to check your idea. 2. Go live on Your Facebook page and build a relationship with your niche. 3. Grow and nurture your own list. 4. Invest in paid advertising even if it’s a tiny budget because you’ll rise ahead of the majority. 5. Automate.

Plus 1 more tip … If you can’t afford it, apply to Facebook which is offering $100M in ad spend to small businesses. Here’s where to apply:

What are your tips to thrive during Covid-19 and isolation?

Caroline Bellenger Life, Fitness and Business Coach

My tips for thriving during Covid-19 are keeping a routine and creating new opportunities rather than dwelling on what has gone from our life at the moment. Let go of what you cant control. Personally I do my ISO exercise, beach and coffee every morning before coming back to my home office to work on projects that I was too busy for when running my gym business. Then back to beach for sunset every night with my son

Starting a business checklist So you're thinking about starting a business. Good for you! There's nothing more satisfying than being your own boss. Just be prepared for hard work and long days, at least at first. You'll also have to be creative and learn about some things you never even thought of before, like branding and developing a marketing plan. You'll have to think about those financials, too. Here's a checklist to get you started: Decide on a niche. What's your passion? What interests you most? Do extensive research to learn what's involved in starting a business in that niche and whether it will have a good chance of being profitable enough to support you and your family and employees.

Also talk with an insurance agent. What kind of insurance will you need to keep you and your property safe?

Also research the legal implications of your business. You need to know all the rules that will keep you operating in a legal manner. Missing just one could cause many bureaucratic headaches.

Find a mentor to talk you through starting your business. Your mentor will advise you when you get going, too.

Think of a name. Be creative here, too. But also be practical. You want a name that people will remember and that describes your business.

Branding is another important consideration. What will your business stand for? What do you want people to think about when they hear your name?

Register business name. If you don't register business name, someone else can use it.

Develop a marketing plan. How will people find out about your business?

Think about start up costs. Can you afford the start up costs of a new business right now? Will you need to borrow money or try your luck on Gofundme or other crowd funding platform?

Plan your website. For many people, that will be their first introduction to your business. If you're not the best writer or designer, hire someone to do the website for you.

Talk with an accountant, and get your initial financials in order.

Include social media in your marketing plan. Social Media is the best way to spread the word about your business and engage with your customers.

Shannon Bush What's your thrive factor?

xx

I have found myself saying oodles and oodles of times that all women have a right to experience a state of thriving. A pure blissful, freedom-filled sense of knowing you are enough and have what you need to make daily choices in support of your thriving. Your choices may feel limited by a situation or environment you’re in but you have choice about how you respond to your experiences. It is in this choice you find yourself able to unlock your exclusive Thrive Factor combination, something I call your Effortless Success Zone. Archetypally you are a combination of many expressions. When creating The Thrive Factor framework over a decade ago I wanted to inclusively harness the essence of women globally. Over a decade later, the uniqueness of each Thrive Factor Archetype, a combination of which you’d find within you, is what makes you radiate. Your distinctive nature as a woman makes you special, valued and of worth. Worthy of love. Of happiness. Of acceptance. Of curiousity. Of success and health. Worthy of relaxation and of thriving. One of the fastest ways to unlock this seemingly-elusive experience of thriving is to know who you are. Self-understanding offers you the opportunity to find a sense of genuine calm and permission to live with resilience, confidence and resonance. Selfknowing takes this to a whole new level, embodies and grounds in certainty. How do you come to have profound sureness in yourself?

One way is by embodying yourself archetypally. Let me introduce you to the twelve Thrive Factor Archetypes:

Top tips for balancing life motherhood and business. I balance life, motherhood, and business by waking early and having a great morning routine, which allows me to have more hours in the day. I Meditate so I can think clearly so I can be efficient and effective with my time. I also don’t need as much sleep as I used too as I meditate before sleep and it makes my 6 hours sleep more effective. Being present with my children and family so that when I spend time with them I am truly with them. Your top 3 things to do for self-love 1. get my nails done every fortnight without fail. 2. Ride my horse 3. I get a massage once a fortnight What are your top 3 challenges being a Mumpreneur? 1. Am I a good enough mum? 2. Am i a good enough business woman? 3. Then it just keeps see sawing if I let it. Though doing my practices have helped me balance this out and stop the see saw effect Advice on a mother wanting to become a Mumpreneur GO for it! Having a business whilst being a mum is totally doable and you can be good at both and be successful at both. I used to have a limiting belief that I couldn't have or do both well, however, I now see that if you stick to the points in how I balance life, motherhood, and business you can do it all. I was never happy to solely be a mum and have no other outside interest. I thought I wanted to do that but 3 months into having our eldest boy, I released that I wanted to do more. My mind was ticking away at all the extra things I could do whilst being a full-time mum. It builds your self-worth when you feel like you are contributing to the family income and when through your business you are helping others. So I started Jarrahdale Equestrian and then is has exploded from then. How do you find time for your relationship with your husband? I book in a date night a minimum of once a month for my husband and I to go out together ( NO KIDS) Fun and Love with my husband needs to be planned and it is non-negotiable, because if your relationship at home isn’t right then all other areas of your life are affected. Your parenting skills, your businesses, and your own self-development. For me, this is very important. I also make sure that at least 4 times a week after children are in bed I give my undivided attention to my husband to chat about what is happening in our lives. It's the simple things that mean the most. If you have experienced isolation but now have found support/tribe/community how did you find them? Where did you find them & how has it changed your life? I believe anyone that " does more than the average” for example a mother and a business owner feels isolation at some time in their life. I have found on my journey to success I have often felt like I have left many people in my life behind because their focus in life was not the same as mine. I have joined a business mentoring group with Aaron Sansoni Group and I feel like I have found my tribe. I am supported and nurtured through the trials and tribulations of business. I feel totally blessed to be part of this group and I contribute a large amount of my success in business in the last 12 months to being part of this group of amazing business owners. Isolation

Personal Experience

Isolation Triggers by Briana Seaton

I

t was building up inside of me, and I could sense it coming.

It started with the feeling of pressure on my shoulders and tightening around my chest. I felt panicked as my heart rate increased, and I realised that I was holding my breath. My head thumped, I was a fuse about to blow. Then the release came with a big outburst of uncontrollable sobbing. I was having an iso meltdown. These feelings and behaviours will be familiar to some because you too, know the anxiety struggle. I thought I was managing it well, but isolation has challenged us all emotionally, physically, mentally, socially and spiritually. We have all been dealing with lockdown in different ways; for some, there is a beautiful balance of time, peace, calm, and getting back to basics...and bread baking!

For me, I am busier than ever with work and feeling like I am in a juggling act of keeping so many balls in the air. Despite being able to share this circus routine with my superstar hubby, the challenge is daily for me. We work hard at protecting our little ones from overhearing 'bad news' stories, keeping up with their questions and uncertainties, often without knowing all the answers, and making sure their love and attention buckets are filled. I am stretched between working from my home office and my iso office, running more than one business and ensuring I take extra care of my teams emotional and mental wellbeing. Let's throw in the usual home duties - caring for our animals and ourselves and remembering to breathe. Then add to the mix' homeschooling' to really shake things up. Quite simply, it is too much!

However, with overwhelm, comes life lessons, many of which have started with self-reflection. Why has my anxiety been heightened after years of being centred and grounded? What is this uncomfortable feeling I have, and why is it so familiar? I was both shocked and fascinated by my discovery. The feelings I was having, bordering on a panic attack, took me back to being a first-time mum.

I thought I was managing it well, but isolation has challenged us all emotionally, physically, mentally, socially and spiritually. I was arriving home from hospital with a pink bundle that didn't like to sleep. It was too far and too cold and too stressful to walk into town for ‘big people’ contact, whilst recovering from a cesarean. The nights were long, but the days were even longer. I'd wait patiently for morning visits from friends or family and would then count down the hours until my husband came home from work. I felt lonely and 'trapped'. Iso has brought to the forefront two of my highest values - Connection and Freedom. 8 years ago, both were taken away from me and now again. But I have learnt that I am strong and brave and will overcome any obstacle, even a pandemic that triggers emotions and brings up unhealed traumas.

Compared to when I became a mother the first time, I am thankful that I am more selfaware. The triggers are real, but I see and accept them and work through them. When I feel myself start to spiral, I remind myself to breathe deep into my belly instead of high into my chest, to ground myself with barefoot walking and to stay in the PRESENT. Like any other moment in time, no one knows what tomorrow will bring. So let's stay in the 'now' and enjoy whatever comes our way. Embrace the challenge of working from home and appreciate watching our children learn and grow.

"THANK YOU"

"THANK YOU"

"THANK YOU"

LITERALLY speak those words aloud. This is what your future self will be saying after reading this story and learning about a world of possibilities and freedom so many women across the globe are learning to create for themselves! A life not based on co-dependence. That does not require you to obtain something, or be someone, or look a certain way in order to feel accepted, whole and complete. Where you get to look at yourself in the mirror and enjoy and appreciate the woman you see, someone worthy of love, power and respect. ‘This could never be a real experience for me…’ I hear you, I know that sneaky voice of resistance intimately and I’m going to show you how that voice, wherever it is critical of you, is the shortcut from where you are now to where and who you want to be. But first I want to you to consider something.

How much of the way you behave now is your own choosing? How much of it is conditioning? How much of it is because of how someone treated you in the past? Is it driven by love, compassion and understanding or does it drive you by analysing, judging and criticising yourself and others, particularly when you are not consciously thinking about it? I’m talking about when you get triggered or challenged to move out of your comfort zone. What does the observer (in you) in those moments have to say? Are shame and guilt the motivating emotions for you to show up or is it the kind voice of love, worthiness, inner knowing and confidence that empowers you to be your best? It’s a subtle but powerful difference.

Picture this: Indi has been working hard her whole life, always living up to some idea of perfection yet never quite making it. There’s always been something holding her back. Deep down she knows what it is but, doesn’t know how to deal with it, so she pushes it away and gets busy working towards perfection again pretending it’s not there. Her business is growing steadily as she struggles with the pressures and accumulative stress of being a mum and building her dream—coping with the familiar two-steps-forward, one-stepback model, she is determined to stand on her own two feet. One day she will be the mum and partner she strives so hard to be. But Indi can’t keep going like this; deep down she feels like a house of cards, if one falls out, well then, you know how that story ends. In the deafening silence of night, she thinks to herself, Can I do this? sparking a chain reaction of thoughts of unworthiness, begging the question to be answered, Am I good enough? A good enough mum? A good enough business owner? Are my products and services good enough? A good enough friend? Wife? Girlfriend? Daughter? Student? What is it for you? She wants successful and collaborative relationships reflecting honesty, openness, mutual respect and acceptance, which is hard because she’s been burned in the past. A common theme in her life as she thinks of it. Trusting herself is the core of this issue. If she truly believed and trusted in herself—in her infinite ability to respond to any situation, to trust the choices she made because she is an infinite being with infinite potential drawing from an infinite source then she could be— well … you tell me. The deep roots of such core beliefs have farreaching effects in your life. They determine whether you are a creator or a victim in differing situations that life presents to you. In other words, are you growing or protecting yourself? Life has this way of challenging us and encouraging us to expand out of our comfort zone. It’s never more than we can handle, but with a mindset that self-sabotages, it frustratingly leads to burnouts and breakdowns.

What if there were a way to get the message and change things before the inevitable brick comes through the windscreen of your life? What if all you could see were solutions to what life presents to you because you tune into a higher consciousness—a consciousness that loves and supports you, is creative, playful, trusting and worthy of the best that love and life have to offer, because you CAN do this. The way you think is a direct reflection of what you believe about yourself and your life. Think of yourself as a radio, your body is the antenna, your beliefs are the channel you are tuned into and your expression is the symphony you express through your words, actions and intentions. We can change so much in just one session to truly empower you to safely be the greatest expression of yourself you can be in any giving situation.

PAGE 32 MUMPRENEUR MOVEMENT

Still don’t believe me? Then you definitely need to get in contact with me and prove me right. As I said in the beginning, your future self will thank you!

Are you growing or protecting yourself?

The ground breaking research of Dr Bruce Lipton (PhD and author of The Biology of Belief) has proven this. The way we perceive our environment determines as much as 97% of our consciousness, which is derived from our subconscious beliefs and perceptions. He uses a process called PSYCH-K® in his own life to update the operating ‘mindware’ driving his life (beliefs). This is the safest, simplest most powerful and effective way to transform and transcend all your fears, stress and anxiety, into peace and freedom, your limitations into strengths and your unworthiness into empowerment. This is where that voice becomes your teacher. The very reason you are reading this article proves to us both that you are looking for something but you don’t know what. Something that ties together everything you’ve consciously learnt and a way to implement all the wisdom you have collected, fast. You are now ready to start driving your life. When your subconscious beliefs are aligned with your conscious wisdom, this is where the magic happens and you get to be the designer of your own life.

Girl

Denise-Duffield Thomas

D

Denise Duffield-Thomas is the money mentor for the new wave of online entrepreneurs who want to make money and change the world. She helps women charge premium prices, release the fear of money, and create First Class lives. Her books Lucky Bitch, Get Rich Lucky Bitch, and Chillpreneur give a fresh and funny roadmap to living a life of abundance without burnout. Her Money Bootcamp has helped over 6,000 students. She’s a lazy introvert, a Hay House author, and an unbusy mother of 3. She owns a rose farm and lives by the beach in sunny Australia. Tell us a bit about your family.. I'm right in the thick of family life right now - Willow is 6 and loves school and structure, George is almost 4 and hates rules - and Piper, almost 2, is a mix of both. We talked about having a 4th baby but ended up with a cavoodle puppy instead. My hubby Mark works in my business too, so it's all a bit crazy.

Tell us a bit about your business? What inspired you and when did you start? I feel like I've been in business my whole life - or at least trying to be. My first business was at 9 years old and I tried a million different things but hardly made any money until I was 30. It wasn't through lack of effort or ambition. The truth is that I totally discounted my true passion - I wanted to inspire and motivate people, but I didn't think it was a real job (well - Oprah already cornered that market). I finally got over my resistance and became a life coach even though I was worried about what people would think of me. I quickly realised that business coaching was more fun than general life coaching and then niched into money as my main topic. I LOVE talking about money and even thought had imposter syndrome up the wazoo (who am I to talk about money?) I felt like I had something different to say. Empowering other women around money has its roots in watching my mum and grandmother. Their choices in life were limited by financial independence. I vowed to never be stuck in the same situation and even though I started my business for me - I now have a higher purpose - to help women make more money so together we can change the world.

What have been some of the biggest challenges and how have you overcome? Like a lot of women, my biggest challenge in business has always been fear. Fear that people won't like me if I do or say something wrong, fear of being misunderstood - even fear of the ramifications of success and visibility! The only way I deal with the fear is to remind myself that everyone is focused on their own lives. It doesn't matter to them if I live my dreams or not, so I should move forward anyway. I always thought that the fear would go away with enough money and success and it doesn't. The good news is what scares you today won't scare you tomorrow. The bad news is that there's always something new to be scared about! I deal with my own fear by surrounding myself with beautiful friends and other mumpreneurs who "get it" and who are dealing with their own imposter syndrome. Knowing you're not alone is priceless. PAGE 36 MUMPRENEUR MOVEMENT

How long have you been in business and what is your biggest accomplishment?

I've hit a lot of financial goals over the last ten years but the first $225 I made as a coach felt amazing. It was honestly more satisfying than hitting a million dollars because it was proof that I could make money being me. Nobody can ever take that away from me. We've had more than 6,000 people go through my Money Bootcamp - and I know when you work on your money fears, there's a massive ripple effect to your family, clients, suppliers, and communities. I'm the proudest when I see someone finally has the keys to their own financial independence.

How did you fund your business to start with? I studied online business for years while working full time. When I knew that entrepreneurship was for me, I downsized my career-changing industries from busy consulting to non-profit and gradually reducing my hours to part-time. Even though none of those practice businesses earned me any money, I learned about writing sales pages and blogging. When I made the leap, I asked my husband to support us financially for six months - and to trust me that it was going to work out. He pretty much asked me every day if I made money yet! I spent hardly anything on my new business - I had an old laptop and a cheap desk. I didn't even spend money on ads until 5 years in. Every day, I focused on helping people. I wrote articles, made videos, hosted live streams, and webinars (with nobody watching). I wanted to be known as the "go-to-girl" - so instead of agnonizing about my website colour or creating business cards (otherwise known as procrasti-branding), I showed up for hours in business forums helping people.

Mindset is everything, especially for mums.

I offered one thing - an hour with me to solve a problem. In my first year, I helped people with confidence to start dating, to ask for a pay increase at work, to brainstorm business problems, and basically became a cheerleader for people's dreams.

How important is mindset with being a Mumpreneur? And what do you do to keep a healthy mind?

One thing that was non-negotiable was sending out a weekly newsletter. Even if I didn't know what I was going to write about - that weekly discipline grew my business to what it is today.

For me - my community supports a healthy mindset.

I still run a fairly lean business - and my goal is the same - show up and help people.

Mindset is everything, especially for mums. When society tells us it's selfish to have dreams for ourselves, we need to be in our own corner.

I'm so grateful to the internet and social media. Without them, I would probably think my business dreams are unrealistic and unattainable. Social media has connected me to so many amazing friends around the globe - people who have cheered on my successes and failures. Everyone needs business besties - even if you don't see them in "real life" very often. They'll keep you motivated - especially during the scary parts of being in business.

What advice do you have for other mums in business right now and how can they thrive? My biggest advice is to give up the guilt. Guilt around spending time and money on your business dreams.

Guilt is wasted energy. It won't pay your bills and won't grow your business. For me - outsourcing the household chores has helped me thrive - both as a mum and a business woman. I don't think I'm "too good" to clean my own house, but it doesn't bring me enjoyment or money, so I'd rather create a job for someone else. PAGE 38 MUMPRENEUR MOVEMENT

Guilt is wasted energy. I haven't touched the washing machine for years - I only have so much energy in the day and I don't want it to be sapped by non-income producing activities. I also don't cook (except for twice a year procrasti-baking when I have a big deadline) and my husband takes on a lot of the traditional "mum roles" that we don't outsource. Mumpreneuers put so much pressure on themselves to do everything perfectly. It's okay to give up that guilt.

What does a typical ‘working’ day look like for you? I made a decision before my first kid was born to really simplify my business into one main program, my Money Bootcamp and no 1:1 consulting. I didn't want my business income to be dependent on my personal energy especially since I had no idea what was coming - was I going to get a good sleeper? Would I even feel ambitious after having a baby? It was all so unknown.

Even now after 3 kids, I have more time and energy but I really thank pre-kids Denise for making that decision to simplify. It means that my days are really flexible. There's no "typical" working day but a mantra that guides my work, "all roads lead to Bootcamp." As long as my day contributes to that - and that's a pretty wide bar, then it "counts."

Some days, that looks like connecting with my community (and potential clients) by answering DMs on Instagram, other days it's being interviewed on podcasts (I average 3 a week) or writing articles. I make sure my calendar isn't too full because if a kid is sick or childcare falls through, it's not too difficult to rearrange.

How do you take care of you? Do you have a daily practice? My kids are such early birds (sometimes 4:30am) that getting good SLEEP is my biggest non-negotiable. I'd love to stay up late and watch my favourite shows but I have to be in bed at 9:30 latest otherwise I'm so cranky, and then it has a knock-on effect to my creativity and capacity all day long.

I'm a pretty lazy person so I trick myself into self-care all day long, for example, I keep tweezers and hand cream in my car for those moments where I'm bored or waiting for dance class to finish. I keep vitamins in my desk drawer and all sorts of potions in my shower. I also have a weekly blow-dry appointment. When I have nice hair, I feel way more motivated to be visible (all roads lead to Money Bootcamp!) My only consistent daily practice is Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT or tapping). It really helps to centre me. We have the most amazing opportunity today to create our own financial independence - and we're so lucky to have the tools and ability to make our own money. Our grandmothers would JUMP on their tools - we can honour them by being brave and taking the chance.

Share the love I n 2014, I went from being a new mum to a breast cancer

patient. I have no family history, I was 32 years old, and I had all the low risk factors. Worst of all, I really had to self advocate just to get my diagnosis which took three months from when I first noticed my symptom - a lump in my right breast during the later stages of my pregnancy - and when I was finally diagnosed. The shock of this diagnosis, the impact on me and my family and the gaps that I identified for young women facing the disease led me to create Australia's first specialist charity for young women with breast cancer - So Brave. We started by empowering young breast cancer survivors through once-in-alifetime body paint experiences, and have gone on to raising and investing hundreds of thousands of dollars into research and breast advocacy programs. Our current focus is on raising awareness in young women at high school and university, young professional women and young mothers.

One of the most important ways we do this is through sharing our stories. We have just released our first Letters of Love book - filled with letters from 15 young survivors to raise awareness of the reality of a breast cancer diagnosis. We'd love you to help us SHARE THE LOVE. We'd love your support and to help us by sharing our breast awareness message with all the women in your life - it might just save theirs!

We'd love your support and to help us by sharing our breast awareness message with all the women in your life - it might just save theirs!

When was the last time you did a self breast check?

Believe in yourself

BELIEVING IN YOURSELF IS THE FIRST SECRET TO SUCCESS by Alana Barry Our beliefs are the very thing that can take us somewhere in life or that can hold us back. Many of us are where we are today based on what we believe and not just our beliefs on a surface level but also on a deeper core belief level. Our core beliefs are the ones that hold us back from the life we know we deserve. If you subconsciously believe you’re not good enough, smart enough, skinny enough, fit enough, you’re not attractive, then you act from this belief system rather than acting towards what you truly desire and what you want to achieve in life. As a person who has struggled with body image and feeling that I was not enough for majority of my life I understand the neverending battle within. I now understand the true power of self-belief and what can be achieved by believing in one’s self. You don’t become what you want or desire you become what you believe so believe and act as though we already have it, act as though you are enough because you are.

8 Tips on How to Build Self-Belief

Visualise Yourself As You Want To Be. Practice visualising a fantastic version of yourself achieving your goals.

Care For Yourself. Self-belief is nurtured through good self-care which comes from a combination of good physical health, emotional health and social health. It is hard to believe in yourself if you don’t feel good about yourself or have no energy. Make sure you take the time to create good exercise, eating and sleeping habits, look after yourself.

Affirm Yourself. Affirmations are positive and uplifting statements that we say to ourselves on a daily basis out loud.

Question Your Inner Critic. Some of the harshest comment come from ourselves, question your inner critic, what evidence is there to support this criticism you will find you are being too hard on yourself, stop it.

Create Personal Boundaries. Learn to say no. Teach people how you want to be treated.

Set Yourself Up To Win. Start by setting yourself small goals that you can achieve, once you achieve those goals and feel good about them you can start to set larger goals in order to achieve more. Make sure you celebrate your wins along the way, this is extremely important.

Shift to an equality mentality. People with low self-confidence see other people as better than them or that they are more deserving than them. Instead of having this perception see yourself as being equal to all people as they are no better or no more deserving than you.

Help Someone Else. When we help someone else it allows us to make a difference for someone else and reflect and feel grateful for what we have also.

You cannot live a positive life with a negative mind.

If nothing changes, nothing changes. If you want to change your life you must believe in yourself and believe in the life you deserve. Today I live my life truly by law of attraction, what you put out in this amazing world you will receive back. You cannot live a positive life with a negative mind. What do you believe is true for you?

COVID-19

Are you experiencing grief?

Is COVID-19 causing me grief? COVID-19 has impacted every one of us and our lives have changed in unexpected ways in a very short period of time. Is it any wonder we are reeling with so many whirling emotions? Why do we feel so overwhelmed and lost at this time?

What you may be feeling is what I call situational grief, a grief caused by unexpected or unusual circumstances. A grief from loss of normalcy, connection, routine, loss of jobs, uncertain future and for some the loss of loved ones. You might ask yourself, ‘Doesn’t grief only come from loss and losing someone?’ Well no, you might be surprised to learn that grief is actually much more complex than losing someone you love. If you feel that you are experiencing this kind of grief, here are some signs, as well as some tips to support you. Situational grief signs to look for:

Feel more overwhelmed and emotional Feel physically and emotionally exhausted Frustration and anger rise quickly Constantly looking at the negatives of life Feel you have no control over your It is really important to understand that if you have any of these signs, it’s a completely normal reaction during this time. What you are experiencing is completely normal, even if you don’t feel it is.

Tips to Support you Acknowledge your feelings

The most important thing to do is first acknowledge how you feel. Let the emotions rise, say to yourself, ‘It’s okay, I have a right to feel scared, lonely or teary, it’s okay.’ If you hold the emotions in, if you push them down, the overwhelm does more harm than good. There’s no reason to feel ashamed or critical of the emotions you’re having, none of the feelings you’re having are unreasonable right now. Stay connected

Technology and mobiles can, and will be, our friend during this time when it’s more than important ever to stay connected to others. However please make sure you put in boundaries to protect yourself.

Boundaries are important as the news can affect how you are feeling. Let your close ones know if you are struggling by saying things like, ‘I’ve been having a really hard time with this COVID-19 stuff. Can we check in by text later on?’ Or for your kids, ‘Mummy is a little bit tired today; can we have a question free day and maybe just (play a game/sing a song, draw, have a hug/) instead if that’s okay?’ There’s nothing wrong with setting whatever boundaries you need to take care of yourself! Self-care

Our body responds to situational grief by putting itself into a constant ‘fight, flight, or freeze’ mode and flooding us with stress hormones and adrenaline. End result? We end up feeling completely exhausted. It’s especially important to rest, eat well and stay hydrated. Sleep when you need to sleep; meditation or playing music can help calm and lift your spirits; treat yourself with love and compassion. It’s crucially important right now to care for yourself. Talk to a professional

Grief professionals can be a vital for supporting you in grief. Please note that it is very important to ensure you have a great connection with your grief support. You will be feeling vulnerable and sharing feelings you haven’t shared before, so it’s imperative you choose the right person for you. Remember, you’re not alone in what you’re feeling right now

Be gentle with yourself—and if you need more support, don’t hesitate to reach out. We may be self-isolating, but none of us have to be alone right now.

Being

Mindset Matters

W

ith everything that is currently going on in the world with the Coronavirus, here are a few tips help you to take care of your mindset, and help you to feel calmer, manage things more effectively and find a more peaceful state of mind.

You may be home schooling, reviewing the finances and figuring out new ways of doing business. Spending so much time at home with people around you may be wonderful in so many ways, however some relationships may be under a bit of a strain during this time of adjustment. There may be differences of opinion about this time and may not always on the same page.

As we know there is just so much uncertainty at the moment. We are hearing different things every single day and we are trying to navigate through uncharted territory. Many of my clients at the moment are talking about feeling overwhelmed, feeling really stressed. Some people are not sleeping, or are having some arguments with people at home. They are often left frustrated at not being able to get things done and feeling quite overloaded at the moment. Perhaps you have been experiencing some of these emotions too.

So how do we find peace of mind during this time? Here are three tips: 1.Go back to basics:

2. Let go of expectations

3. Learn from nature

Simplify and prioritise. Decide what absolutely must be done. Anything else that gets done is a bonus but not essential. Accepting that temporarily things are just going to be different. Less is more. We can always add more things in later, but right now it is essential to cut the ‘doing’ right back. A little bit like of a detox from the hectic clutter of life, bringing just the essential things back in.

Right now is the time to release any unhelpful expectations. These may be ones on yourself and on others. Recognise that you are simply finding your way during this time. Things are potentially not going to be perfect and that is okay. Often whilst ideas or new ways are developing, there is a time of disarray before something emerges naturally from the chaos.

Mother Nature teaches us so much. She reminds us that we have the ability to grow and adapt, through all the different stages and experiences in our own lives. We do tend to find a way. Like the water in the stream will find a way to flow. The recent bush fires triggered regrowth and we too can regenerate and come through this time. We can rebuild, be renewed and strengthened. Mother Nature also teaches us that everything changes. May we trust in our ability to embrace uncertainty just as Mother Nature evolves, so can we.

Remember to take some gentle soft breaths to centre, ground and reconnect to ourselves and nature. This time is a season and will at some point will become part of our past.

As women it’s our natural instinct to care for others, and many of us genuinely feel the pain and despair of others. Feel the emotion and let it out. It’s ok to feel sad, grief and anger... on the other side will come clarity and action. Do what you can ~ but look after yourself first. Your humanity & sustainability is so important right now. Listen to your body, know when to rest, manage your energy & when it’s ok to go again - only you will know that.

Marilou Coombe

Orchestrate Coaching with Marilou Coombe If you are feeling anxious, pause, breathe and ask yourself why are you doing what you are doing right now? It helps you to gain perspective and to see if what you are doing is necessary and if it isn’t, are you able to it let go? Ask yourself the question when something isn’t working, what do I want to do about? and then step into your power with the actions you choose to take. Look at how things can be done differently if things are not working right now. Lastly, our little humans have no idea how to navigate their own emotions, let alone what is going on in the world. They don't always know why they are feeling the way they are; they might be fighting more than usual or showing different behaviours. These extra big emotions, plus our own emotions with juggling life, motherhood and business can be difficult, however they look to you for help as well as guidance. See if instead of reacting, you can come from love to help yourself as well as help them to navigate through this time in a more harmonious way.

Empowered Mindset

winning at life with an empowered mindset Salli Galvin

I

truly believe that every game (including the game of life) is won or lost in the mind. When I proudly wore the green and gold representing Australia, I was coached at the Australian Institute of Sport where I learnt that the power of the mind is paramount to success in sport.

I have grown to understand this is also true in life.. I have personally been obsessed with mastering and understanding the mind and, since becoming a mother, I believe that it is imperative for our children to have the tools and foundations to help them understand the way their own mind works and how they can create awareness around their emotions, build self confidence and learn to love and be who they truly are. As a mother of four boys (aged 6-14), I am well aware of the rising levels of depression, anxiety and god forbid, suicide in our younger generations right now. While we have some idea, no-one really knows exactly what long term effect the current COVID-19 pandemic and social isolation will have on all of our children.

That is why personal development is paramount – in adults but particularly in children. It helps to develop the solid foundation they need to build confidence and self-belief and also nurture a valuable understanding of who they are and what they can do in the world before they hit those misty, crazy years of adolescence.

There are two very valuable notions any child or teenager should know: that they are loved unconditionally by you, and they are safe.

PAGE 52 MUMPRENEUR MOVEMENT

During these uncertain times, when talk of pandemics and coronavirus has many parents caught up in the fear of the unknown, it is important they don’t allow that panic to affect their household. My favourite parenting tip is to lead by example, so please be aware of how you communicate with your children: let them know what is going on with COVID-19 but also stress to them that it will all be ok and that everything will work out as it should. While they need to be made aware of the virus in order to take sensible precautions, they also need to feel safe and not continuously live each day in fear of what might happen. The most certain thing we know at the moment is that no-one knows what is going to happen next. It is fruitless living in fear and worrying about what might happen when it most likely won’t happen anyway. I prefer to focus on the things in my life that I can control and leave the rest to unfold as it will. Once you have adopted that mindset and established some stability in your household, then you can work with your tweens on some very important life skills that will set them up to be what we call ‘Mindfit Kids’.

Here’s a quick insight into our Mindfit Kid Manifesto: A Mindfit Kid has the right to choose their own path in life with confidence. They value their ability to do what they love and love what they do with kindness and confidence. They may have second guessed themselves or doubted their ability in the past. But now, a MindFit Kid knows that they are unique humans with skills to offer the world. They can achieve what they believe and they are well balanced, free from fears and self-doubt. A Mindfit Kid is on the path to leading an extraordinary life.

The most important thing we can teach our children is how the mind works. We are all living in a very uncertain world at the moment. But I want you, as mothers and mumpreneurs, to know you are not alone: the entire world is in the same boat. So trust that this too shall pass, we will survive this and if we make a conscious effort to support ourselves as leaders of our household and support our children by encouraging mental health awareness right now, we will all emerge as stronger, more resilient humans at the end of it. Sending you so much love,Sal

Overcome Failure

How to overcome failure I believe that a good leader, a strong leader an empowered leader and successful entrepreneur, openly accepts failure not as something to hide from but to embrace it and see how it can make them stronger, more skilful and knowledgeable.

Written by tammie pike What does it truly mean to fail? In society, it’s a word we shy away from and we do everything we can not to fail. But isn’t the ability to learn from our failures our greatest gift? The ability humans have that other species do not. It’s in our DNA to learn from failure. Do you tell a baby that is learning to walk and keeps falling over (failing to walk) that they should give up? How many times do they fall down before they are able to walk? Hundreds of times or more? Yet are they are failure? No. They are triumphant in their ability to get back up again and do it all over again until they harness the skill they need to be able to do what they want. So how did we lose the ability to accept failure? When was it that we became too scared to step out of our comfort zone, try something new in case someone sees us fail?

Plus it doesn’t matter how hard you try to not fail at something, it is inevitable that you will experience some failure, so instead of trying to be a perfectionist, stay small, or not do that big scary action towards your dream, I say leap. Be brave and courageous enough to leap out of your safe, comfy and sturdy box into the unknown. Learn a new skill, provide a new service, pivot in your life and business if it isn’t working, or even if it isn’t feeling okay or enough for you. The unknown and change can be uncomfortable and scary, especially for women because for centuries we have been told not to be too this or too that. That we have a certain role within life and we stay to that, it’s safe and you won’t get hurt. Times have changed and are changing and women all over the world are stepping into their power. It wasn’t easy for them yet they did it and you can see them shining brightly. It’s your turn.

I say leap. Be brave and courageous enough to leap out of your safe, comfy and sturdy box into the unknown.

Here are nine steps to help you to overcome the fear of failure: 1.Recognise you have not failed Even though this article is about overcoming failure, I believe that we never truly fail. Like a baby learning a new skill it’s a matter of trial and error until we harness the skill, product, service, communication skills etc to get the desired outcome. It’s a chance to learn, learn more about what we want to achieve but also we get to learn more about ourselves, how we react, respond and are willing to pivot.

Instead be with how you feel, honour and accept the feelings. Journal them out, talk to someone, just allow yourself to feel how you feel and be okay with it. It may hurt for a little while, but it will take a lot less time to work through and overcome rather than ignore and hold on to your perceived failure. If you ignore, supress or reject your feelings, they will come back to haunt you, limit you

Just because you failed at something, it doesn’t mean that you will always fail! The greatest and most successful people in the business world are those that are willing to fail every day without letting it slow them down or break their confidence and abilities. We have the gift of being able to also learn from anything we experience and it’s up to you as an individual how you allow yourself to do so.It’s time to let go of the conditioning from school from society and embrace your failures as steps to your success.

2. Your feelings are valid. It’s okay to feel how you feel. When you think you have failed, you might feel a range of emotions from angry, hurt, embarrassment, disappointment, or the need to give up. These feelings are yours and aren’t to be brushed aside or suppressed. Accept them as they are. Don’t try to automatically brush it off, blame someone else or pretend it didn’t happen.

and affect you in ways that would be more hindering than if you just took time to be with your emotions.

3. Redefine what the word failure means. Create your own meaning of what failure means. For me failure means: the ability to embrace change or try something new and learn through the outcome whether successful or not.

4. Get uncomfortable with the uncomfortable Regardless of how much or little you ‘failed’, it’s uncomfortable and we as human’s don’t like being uncomfortable so we stay in our comfort or otherwise known as our ‘known’ zone. Yet it is within the uncomfortableness, whether that is a feeling or experience, where the most growth happens.

PAGE 56 MUMPRENEUR MOVEMENT

5. Own it Take full ownership and responsibility for your actions and mistakes. They are yours forever to do with as you wish. They can hold you back or they can help you move forward. It’s your choice.

6. Reflect Reflect on what caused the outcome. How can I fix, change or pivot to move forward? How can I grow from this? What other resources or skills do I need to do it differently next time? This gives you the ability to recover from your experience, to get back up, dust off your knees and try again.

7. Inspire yourself How many successful entrepreneurs do you know? Thought leaders and empowered women such as Oprah Winfrey, Marie Forleo,

8. Don’t give up! The easiest thing to do is to give up when things don’t go to plan, I get it. Yet if you embrace this as learning, and have the ability to pivot you might just unlock the next step to your own success.

9. Get Support and create an action plan I love my coach, she helps me when I feel that I am stuck in a situation, mindset or experience and she will help guide me through and find a different perspective. She helps me see my own abilities and helps me find my own map (action plan) on how to navigate forward. When things get hard, I go deeper into my practices by journaling, meditating and grounding to help me through a sticky patch of self-doubt, crisis or difficult situations. It’s just a matter of finding your own practice that helps you best..

motivational speaker Gabrielle Bernstein, money mindset mentor Denise DuffieldThomas: do you think that their journey to where they are today was easy or without failures? If you are feeling low, read their personal stories, listen to their podcasts, follow them on facebook and see how they have overcame their challenges to be who and where they are today.

Isn’t the ability to learn from our failures our greatest gift?

GET STARTED WITH POMODORA The Pomodoro Technique is a time management method that can be very useful to stay on task, keep motivated and get things done. Developed by Francesco Cirillo in the late 1980s. The technique uses a timer to break down work into intervals, traditionally 25 minutes in length, separated by short breaks. Each interval is known as a pomodoro, from the Italian word for 'tomato', after the tomato-shaped kitchen timer that Cirillo used as a university student. There are many apps that you can download for free that can help you start using this technique or follow the simple tecniques below.

hether you're a Mumpreneur, stay-athome mother, or a career woman, COVID-19 has most certainly affected your definition of ‘normal’. Whether it's spending more time with your kids than you have for years, or becoming home office neighbours with your partner, life can be difficult to navigate in this tough time.

One of the biggest things you may have noticed is one of your relationships in particular being strained with you and your partner. There are a variety of reasons this may be, whether from an unexpected loss of a job, loss of ‘me-time’ or losing freedom to balance everyday activities as a mother or in a career. If we look at it from a different perspective could this world crisis be a blessing in disguise to invest time into your relationships with those closest with you. Maybe the partner you never have enough time for? One aspect of your relationship that could be helpful to work on is communication. When you spend the entire day with the same people, it can be difficult to have anything meaningful to say, but try to ask each other often how they're managing, and if they're emotionally okay. This can help you both to feel heard, supported and loved and creating more positive communication in the house that can enhance the feeling of a more comfortable environment for everyone. It can sometimes be easy to avoid opening up to others around how you're feeling in this time, but talking it over may give you some peace of mind, and may reassure you that you are loved and supported. In addition to communication, it may be a time to visit (or revisit for some) you and your partner’s love languages. ‘Love languages’ (a term coined by Gary Chapman) are the styles of love that a person responds to and gives most often. They include the five styles of words of affirmation, gifts, acts of service, quality time, and physical touch. It can be extremely useful to know your partner’s style to assist in meeting the needs of your lover during this difficult time.

ONSHIP IN ISOLATION There is a quick quiz that you can do that can help you understand yours and your partners love language where you both can learn how to effectively speak each other’s love language creating a more harmonious and happy relationship. Who knows? Maybe you and your partner will open up to a new side of your relationship that's even more passionate and joyful than ever before? If you are still, feeling a bit unfulfilled, there is always an opportunity at hand to harness these feelings into a creative outlet. Whether it's a new, healthy dinner to prepare for the kids, or moving your body to music such as Goya, let your creative spark ignite! You could even use all of your creative energy to find a source of income while you're waiting for the world to return as it once was.

Creating art, expressing yourself musically, or even having a dance party could help you in more ways than one. Letting go and having fun is necessary, even in a time of uncertainty, because it keeps you feeling like yourself. Have fun with it, and see what you can do. If there is any time to challenge yourself to nail a yoga pose, or perfect your photography portraits, it would be now. Now is the time to devote your time to interests and passions you may have had to set aside in the past for more ‘important’ tasks. Time can be a blessing and a curse, it’s your choice. Why not involve the entire family or just your partner to explore new activities and ideas with you?. Who knows? Maybe at the end of all this craziness you may be able to show off a new skill or even have a successful side hustle once you go back to work. Use this time for YOU and your relationships. Use them to bond and take the time you seem to never get with those you work so hard for. Making the best of situations will always be more rewarding than dwelling in uncertainty.

Children's Learning

ife as we know it has changed.

We are in completely unchartered waters as a nation, as individuals and as families. I’m hearing so many people share how anxious and worried they are about how next few months might look with their kids learning from home. Some of you have to work from home, or have multiple kids to look after and educate too. You might be feeling confident and excited, or you might be feeling stressed, overwhelmed and anxious about it.

Here is my advice and tips for coping with this unique situation.

Set up a dedicated space for your child/children to learn and have the resources they need on hand, like books, pencils, textas, glue stick, etc.

Have structure about your day. Start the day with your regular routine of getting dressed, breakfast, brushing teeth, etc. Allocate time for school work based on what your child’s teacher has recommended. Some schools have the whole day planned out, while others are setting some tasks for kids to work on at their own pace. Regardless of what your child’s school does, it’s important for your children to know what their day looks like. You may like to use a visual schedule, or you can simply write out what their day will look like. Be sure to include time for physical activity or free play too. Structure is really important, but keep in mind that it’s also ok to change what you have planned if the day falls apart.

Have clear expectations that you and your child set together. This could include the order that things get done, break times and what they can do in their free time. It should also include expectations around the use of digital technologies and what is acceptable to do online.

Communicate with your child. The amount of support your child will need with their learning will vary according to their age and ability. Just because your child is old enough to work independently, it doesn’t mean you should just assume that they are okay. Make it a habit to check in with them a couple of times a day to see what they are learning about, how they’re going and if they need any help. As teachers, we will often notice if a child needs extra assistance, but that won’t be as easy when we aren’t face to face.

Structure is really important. At Inspiring Minds Studio, we are running an online program called GROWING TOGETHER, providing pre-school children with 45 minute live classes each weekday morning that are engaging and educational. I wanted to create a safe and fun place for them to learn and provide parents with the time to help older kids with their school work, do their own work or just have some down time each day.

Show an interest in what they are learning and provide positive and constructive feedback. If you see them mastering a new skill or trying really hard with a new concept, tell them. Teachers provide so much encouragement and feedback to kids at school. Try to keep up the positive support when you can.

Remember that learning can happen in lots of different ways. Exercising, cooking, being creative or playing board games together are all a chance for kids to learn.

Lastly, please try not to put too much pressure on yourself to be and do everything. You’re not their teacher and you’re not expected to do the exact same as their classroom teacher would. Reach out for help if you are unsure of how to explain an unknown concept and just do your best in this difficult situation. Your child will be ok. It’s vital for you to look after your mental health and their mental health and wellbeing.

Thriving in a Pandemic

Thriving In BY ANNABEL

N

I

t is funny how the meaning we give a word can change in an instant. Had I written this article just three weeks ago, my interpretation of ‘thrive’ would have been very different!

No doubt I would have written about how my husband and I built our tourism business, Katherine Outback Experience, out of adversity. A lot of people told us it would never work. That first few years we could barely pay the bills, but we have since grown the operation to become the Northern Territory’s Best Tourist Attraction. Or perhaps I would have outlined how we diversified our businesses to ensure if one market plateaued or collapsed, then it could be supported by another. However, that is not to be, due to one little, innocent,

bat-eating

occurrence

that

has

brought the world to a standstill and changed life and business as we know it forever. In the stroke of a pen, both our companies came to an instant standstill; a tourist attraction and live music performances. Central to our business models was gatherings of people, congregated in one place for a period of time. Furthermore, we are heavily dependent on interstate markets, whether they visit the Northern Territory or we visit them in their home-state while on tour. 2020 was set to be our biggest year yet. It was the first year that the majority of profits weren’t getting reinvested into capital upgrades. I had plans to finally make our house our home. I had also planned to step back from the day-to-day running of our businesses to be a mum to our amazing five-month-old baby (who spent the first four months of his life on a national tour).

A Pandemic CURTAIN Since government restrictions were enforced, we have gone through a flurry of emotions: shock, confusion, anger and fear, to name a few.

Our goals have changed from making our greatest profit yet, to simply keeping our staff employed and breaking even.. Closing completely was never an option as we have livestock to feed. So, we got to work and, dare I say it, just three weeks later we are on track to achieve our new goals. Having reassessed our market and what their needs are, we have diversified our businesses and are now struggling to meet demand. We won’t achieve the same profit margins as if COVID-19 had not raised its ugly head, but we will achieve our new goals and one might even say we are thriving! No doubt there are other businesses going through this or soon to go through this, so I thought I would share an insight into how we have moved forward in these trying times so perhaps they too can thrive.

1. Mental well being If you are not in the right frame of mind, it will be hard to think logically and move forward. There will be down-days but that is okay and completely normal. Routine is important, as too is making your bed in the morning, getting dressed, eating well, getting some exercise and talking to others.

2. Do your numbers Work through your Profit & Loss Statement to determine what can be deferred and what isn’t serving you. Work out your breakeven figure. Your breakeven figure will be a good indicator of whether you close or diversify. Defer any payments you can; bank loans, interest, merchant fees, subscriptions and rent to name a few.

We will achieve our new goals and one might even say we are thriving!

3. Do what your customers want Start with your customers. What is something they previously asked for that you didn’t previously offer that perhaps you could? In our case this included horse riding lessons, dog training, guitar lessons, online horse training sessions—yes that’s exactly how we have diversified!

4. Apply for schemes/ grants The information from point 2 will feed straight into these Applications.

5. Set your business up for success 2020 is now about setting your business up to hit the ground running when restrictions are lifted. Get systems and processes in place, create content, upskill staff and keep engaging with your customers. Finally, be kind to yourself. This whole situation is unprecedented and out of our control. We are all in it together and we are still here!

Annabel Curtain lives and works in outback Northern Territory. Falling in love with a cowboy was all it took to lure her from her successful corporate career in Perth, WA to Katherine in the NT. Annabel and her husband Tom are the owners of the national awardwinning tourist attraction, Katherine Outback Experience, which operates on their property in Katherine from April to October. The outback show celebrates life on the land through real horse starting and working dog demonstrations, entwined with live music and

Annabel Curtain humorous bush stories.

Tom is also a national award-winning singer songwriter, with several chart-topping tracks to his name, and is the official ambassador of Dolly’s Dream. During the Top End’s wet season, when tourist numbers are low, Annabel and Tom hit the road, touring the music and outback show to rural and remote communities nation-wide. Their most recent tour included the addition of little Harry who was just three weeks old when the team set off on their four month adventure. PAGE 74 MUMPRENEUR MOVEMENT

I HAVE A CONFESSION TO MAKE By Emma Mctaggart

I have a confession to make! A bit too personal given we are just only meeting right now, perhaps? Yet you may indeed feel the same way… I have a type of Stockholm syndrome reaction to COVID-19! It is difficult to balance this rationally because it is so insidious and has destroyed so many families by taking away loved ones too soon; by decimating business to the point there may not be a return to ‘normal’ for many; it has forced us to a state of social isolation, testing the core of our mental wellbeing.

I was in a complete state to flux. Everything I had planned for, to be involved with, was cancelled; In the early stages (unbelievable to think that is only a matter of weeks ago!) I was in a complete state to flux. Everything I had planned for, to be involved with, was cancelled; book sales would surely be significantly be affected; and worse, all events for International Read to Me Day were cancelled around the world! Surely this would mean the end of my business. I honestly thought I might as well give up. Yet, here I am, feeling a strange sense of affection, having been taken hostage to the associated outcomes of dealing with the disease. I am forced to stay home with my husband. We have built our dream home, which pivots me often to a state of awe and wonder, and the voices of our three children (young women) light up the day, having had them all returned home as their university courses are now online and their jobs no longer exist.

..and the voices of our three children (young women) light up the day, having had them all returned home as their university courses are now online and their jobs no longer exist.

Honestly though, what I am absolutely relishing is the fact that we are all looking out for each other. ‘How are you?’ isn’t a passing line, it is a true enquiry as to how you actually are feeling right then and now. It means we are thinking of each other in every sense. It makes my head spin, because I had such

As it turns out, after settling into self-isolation, ordering food to be delivered, communicating with friends via Zoom, the worst thing that could have happened is the community around me collapsing. Instead, it has rallied and within its support, I am not only surviving, I am thriving. I am writing an essay I have been thinking

about for an eternity exploring the idea that the seven plots usually used to categorise literature are equally relevant to children’s picture books, and how these plots suit different stages of a child’s development. I have just written the first draft of a manuscript for a client looking to help children make sense of all that is happening right now. To stay connected to my local community, a girlfriend and I started a Facebook group sharing the love with businesses as we seek out recommendations from their customers.

3 month reading

3-MONTH READING BY CLARE DEALE

Close your eyes, tune into your heart and choose an image by listening to your intuition and for the next three month choose an image for each month. Each reading is all-encompassing and is shared with you, to help to empower you, guide and ground you in the energies that are playing out over these next three months May, June and July.

PAGE 82 MUMPRENEUR MOVEMENT

Image 1 This is the time to look at where you have pushed, fought and struggled where you needn’t. Where you have perceived that you must fight your way through against something or someone to get to the other side or to make it to the through. You have confused success with happiness far too often and then wondered why you are still dissatisfied or unhappy in some way, or that ‘it’ whatever that is isn’t meeting the mark. You, My Dear, have forgotten your power, you have been misguided, and have dimmed your light to try to fit into the mould that you have believed that you need to fit into no matter the cost, even if it is at the cost of yourself. When we come to realise how much we have and continue to give ourselves away; or we do not step into our power for fear of being different, in some way (too big, or not what is needed); we have misconstrued what it is we hold and what it is we are meant to do with it. You have worked through so many layers and moved beyond what you had previously thought possible. You are a warrior, a champion, a heart-centred soul who has a greater purpose than the small narrative so many have been sold and bought into. That push, that nudge, the itch you can’t scratch, is to make you uncomfortable, so uncomfortable you are unable to repeat the same patterns that keep you in the loop of sameness and small-minded reality.

Haven’t you wondered why it hasn’t all just flowed, or that person lets you down, that money doesn’t come in or those clients or ‘friends’ keep letting you down? It’s because you keep being redirected. But you keep avoiding listening because you have believed what is being asked of you is too big. That’s because you have seen yourself as far too small. No more of this. Change is afoot you can either choose to rise to it or to feel like you are being tumbled by this and that. xx

Image 2 So much that is playing out in your internal dialogue and external reality is a reflection of that which is out of alignment with who you are and who are you becoming. But I can see, My Dear, that you resist what is being expressed and shown to you for fear of how it will change you and what you are doing and how you are being. The fear of what will be holds far too much power over your reality, over how it is you feel about yourself and the life you live. Making you feel like you are failing in some way when you’re not. All that is happening is you are being redirected with Love, but you perceive it through the lens of fear because of the unknown that is yet to be embodied.

You are supported in each step, even if it seems like a mistake. Your controlling ways have a lot to answer for and have brought in and bring in much stress. It can seem like you have them under control but they seem to sneak back in when you least expect it. This is because you keep betraying yourself, agreeing to things that dull your spark, to spend time with people that you no longer resonate with. The word ‘should’ dictates far too much of what you do. You are supported in each step, even if it seems like a mistake. Bravery doesn’t mean the absence of Fear; it is doing it even if Fear is still present. Change can be uncomfortable to begin with but it also reveals how limiting comfort has been for you.

PAGE 84 MUMPRENEUR MOVEMENT

Image 3 Pleasure is something that, unfortunately, far too many women deprive ourselves of. It is not something that is for just special occasions. We are intrinsically wired to experience it daily, hourly but we have guilt and shame around it as if there is something wrong with us if we crave it or give it to ourselves in anyway. Self-deprecation seems to be more ‘acceptable’; but who are we trying to be ‘acceptable’ to? Who is it we are trying to satisfy or make happy at the cost of ourselves? This can happen in obvious ways as well as subtle but insidious ways. The longer we keep depriving ourselves, the more we become unclear on who we are and what it is ‘we’ actually want. We get lost in everyone else’s plans and ideas so much so that we lose ourselves even further. This is the time of reclamation. Now this may sound and feel big—that’s because it is. I don’t want you to get overwhelmed by the immensity of this. It is in the small acts, the small choices and changes we make each and every day to return to ourselves; to listen to what that small but constant voice has to say. Take your time, breathe, say ‘yes’ to pacing yourself, make a conscientious effort to notice where it is your energy is drained by this choice and that, this person, this job, this daily task— start to delegate, ask for help and accept and be okay with the timing of things. The more you recognise and redirect these habits, the clearer you will get about how this all works and what your part is within it.

This is where pleasure comes in; it clarifies, centres and renews you, little by little, piece by piece. Everyone’s version of what pleasure means, and how it is experienced, varies from person to person and sometimes in starting to add it into your life more regularly, you start to develop a deeper understanding of what it means to you. Be open to surprises; be receptive to the joy and the release of the pressure that you have gotten so used to holding onto. It could be as simple as sitting in the sun with a cup of tea, a luxurious massage, slowly savouring and eating a delicious meal, taking a bath, etc. Let it in and make it happen more regularly than not. You deserve it and the changes it will allow you to make.

Intuition

MORNING RITUALS THAT One morning a few months ago, I became aware I was feeling stuck and anxious as many of us at this time. I knew exactly what I needed to do and it was something that I had stopped doing everyday because up until that point I had been feeling amazing. Isn't it funny how we tend to stop something once we feel good instead of continuing it to keep feeling good.

What I had stopped was a very simple yet powerful and effective process for myself that I started nearly five years ago after being sick and tired of waking up and being on auto pilot which usually led me to step straight into stress and anxiety every. single. morning! I call it my morning check-in and that morning a few months ago after checking in and feeling into what I was experiencing, and asking myself what I needed, I knew I needed to research mindset support as I needed to go deeper into my limiting beliefs and blocks, so I did.

By the simple act of listening to myself as to what I needed, then trusting the answers and my choices, I took action to make it happen which led me to research, reach out and book in with my current facilitator Alexe J McDonald who I have had the most amazing experiences with, including stepping more into my power, letting go of limiting beliefs, having the most amazing insights into myself as well as my sex-drive being re-ignited. Yes, my husband is a happy and grateful man right now. I have myself to thank for giving me the solution to what I needed most. You see, within ourselves we have all the answers we need to feel good and live an amazing life, however it can only happen if we are willing to trust and believe in ourselves. Give it a go and let me know what comes up for you.

My research led me to a form of reprogramming the subconscious which was a modality called Psych-K. I researched different practitioners and followed my intuition as to who to work with. 6 plus sessions later I am feeling even more empowered, grounded and balanced. By adding this to my self-care practices, I feel the most me I have ever felt and it feels amazing.

HELP YOU THRIVE An easy and effective way to start your day in an empowered way is to do a check-in with yourself. Usually we tend to wake up and let our mind go straight into the drama/stress/anxiety of what you 'should' be doing or what 'could' happen. So we need to start re-training our magnificent brain to help us live a more balanced, stress less and empowered life by understanding what we need to help ourselves through whatever experience or emotion. Experiment with the following process and make it your own. Having an open heart and open mind will enable you to have the best experience.

BREATHE, CONNECT AND CHECK-IN

01 02

As soon as you are aware that you are awake put one hand on your heart and the other on your stomach. Breathe in deeply and exhale three times, relaxing. Without judgement ask yourself "How do I feel right now?". Allow your intuition/knowing/gut instinct tell you through sounds, words, feelings, knowing or in picture form (all in your body and mind) and let them rise to the surface. Acknowledge this feeling and feel it. Imagine it's like a wave in a calm ocean not overpowering just gentlhy moving through your mind and body.

WHAT DO YOU NEED? Ask yourself what do I need to help support myself through this experience of emotion? Again without judgement let yourself answer without hesitation then write this down.

DO IT

03

Now you know what you need to do for yourself. It could be as simple as meditating, take a soothing shower, a cup of tea, journalling etc or it could be as complex as looking at the support to restructure your business, look at outsourcing. Research what support you need and if you need to reach out to someone to help you through your current expeirence. Whatever it is take immediate action of actually doing what you know you need to do or take the steps to plan it into your life or business.

Healthy Recipe

Miraculously, I managed to make a whole new recipe amongst the ever increasing workload around here since being forced into homeschooling and to stay at home. Luckily, sweet potatoes and lentils have long been on my weekly meal prep rotation allowing me to make meals in a flash. Truth be told I’ve been making several meals every day, and my inspiration in the kitchen has been heightened in these uncertain times. It’s one of the places where I feel most in control and at ease. I’ve been dreaming of a moment when I’d be able to share with you all some of the recipes I’ve been coming up with. It pains me at times to not have the space and time to share my art. However, I know this phase will not last and really try to focus on what this time is brining to life for not just myself but for our world. It is my hope that this savory recipe fills not only your bellies but also your hearts during these unusual times. Whether you are making this for one or six, young or old you will find this recipe is generous, comforting and satisfying. Be well and Bon appétit!

INGREDIENTS Sweet Potato Top:

For the Filling:

2 cups mashed sweet potatoes

3 Tbsp olive oil

Salt and pepper to taste

Red chili pepper flakes

Carefully transfer the lentil mix to a casserole dish. For the sweet potatoes: Boil until fork soft all the way through. Remove from pot and run under cold water until cool to touch. Peel skin. An important first step is to acknowledge your grief. What does the emotion look like? What does it feel like? And then, when you are comfortable and accepting of your grief, just as it is, without trying to change it, start asking ‘why?’ Why is this emotion here?

You’re not trying to control it, you’re seeking to understand it. Then you can reframe.

Well

Being

Create your own space

HOW TO FIND PEACE WITHIN THE PANDEMONIUM With everything that is unfolding in the world it can seem there is no safe space to just be, to find stillness or find peace within the storm; you might feel anxious, overwhelmed and disconnected from your inner power. Yet, if you are willing to explore and experiment in creating a special space for yourself you can have a safe and sacred space within your home available to you at all times where your mind, body and spirit connects.

When starting my journey into spirituality and creating my own special daily practices, my spiritual teacher at the time suggested I create a sacred space. As a busy mother of two (at the time, now three) children, running two businesses I didn’t take time out for me unless it was outside in nature. Which meant I hardly rested or took time to just be and be still. We start and end our day in our home, so doesn’t it make sense to create a space that we love and can help us find more peace? Yet, I didn’t create one straight away as I wanted to have the perfect spot, with the perfect adornments but what I found was that it is the imperfect spaces, and random yet meaningful items, that can create the most magical of spaces if only you are willing to use your imagination and let yourself be creative.

A sacred space is a designated space (like your own little haven) where you can be at one with yourself—where you can connect with the inner sacred world within you. Are you ready to find peace and connection for yourself?

Well

Being

Create your own space

Firstly, determine what sacred means to you What will your space be used for? Will it be for meditation, yoga, dancing, speaking your gratitude, dreaming of your future, learning, breathing, spiritual connection? A sacred space can simply be a designated area to connect with yourself. For me, my sacred space is peaceful and magical and helps me re-centre and re-connect to my own inner guidance, power and more.

Designate a space within your home Find a spot within your house that you can create as your sacred space. It doesn’t have to be a whole room; it can be a corner, a shelf, a flat raised surface and so on, whatever space calls to you to turn into your special space.

Setting the tone Find items that are meaningful to you. I like to add trinkets and treasures that I find on my walks or throughout my day such as feathers, butterfly wings, a leaf, something that grabbed my attention and drew me to it. I also have a collection of crystals and statues and carvings that I love. Candles always help create a serene atmosphere, bring in essential oils or incense to help you get into a meditative state. I love using natural incense, burning dried herbs to create my sacred space or using clary sage essential oil.You can add inspirational quotes, symbols, plants and play certain music when you spend time in your sacred space.

Create an intention This is about what you wish to receive within the space. Create boundaries with yourself and those in your household that this is yours and yours alone. That when you are sitting or standing in your sacred space that is when you are off limits and it time for you. I encourage you to invite your children or partner to create their own as it really is a meaningful experience as well as great practice to embody that helps strength the mind, soothe the body and feeds the soul.

Create a daily practice How will you incorporate your sacred space into your everyday routine?

PAGE 100 MUMPRENEUR MOVEMENT

Whatever it is you do it’s important to commit to a time where you're going to do your practice. By doing this over time it will become habit, however to start with you will have to be disciplined. Will you use it to just sit in silence, meditate, just look at your beautiful item that connect and inspire you? Your practice could consist of breath work, prayer, meditation, ritual mantra or even yoga. When you're just beginning, it's important to find what's right for you so be open and experiment with different practices until you find something you love.

You can do as little or as much as you want just make it yours and meaningful to you. I am excited to hear about your own sacred space so make sure to share it with the Mumpreneur Movement Community by using the hashtag #mumpreneurmovementaus and you might have your sacred space shared in the next issue of the Mumpreneur Movement Magazine. What are your tips to thrive during Covid-19 and isolation?

Claire Oliver Empower Me Happy

Surviving this uncertain world is hard! Making sure we take time to truly be ok with what we’re feeling. Giving ourselves permission to ‘feel’. Embracing, loving and allowing those emotions to be free, and making sure we’re not shaming ourselves for feeling them! Taking time EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. to do something for ourselves, be it a coffee in the sunshine, a bath with some essential oils.,whatever self care looks like for you! I don’t go a day without my essential oils to support me, nurture me and help me

2. Maintain connection- to self, others and environment. Connection is the antidote to mental health woes so I’m reaching out to those I do not see often and deepening my connections with those around me. 3. Focus care. Genuinely caring for myself and for things outside of myself (that’s not the news) uplifts me and gives me something purposeful to do. 4. Create, create, create. 5. Sleep

How are you thriving through Covid-19?

Christine Farnham Eternal Lotus

I have shared care of my children so I'm really making the most of this time with them. Each take turns of going for a walk with me where we walk along the beach and get a hot drink on the way. It's a great time for us each to feel relaxed and have a personal chat. Or just enjoy the view in Peace. When they're doing school work that's when I do my online work- including updating my website which was long overdue!I'm loving being in my garden and getting seedlings in. Can't wait to see it flourish!
