2017
is our seventh year of business. And with the seventh year of business, comes many challenges, but also much growth. It’s a year when as business owners, you must seek balance and peace, but also be introspective and study the happenings of your company. Because only when you sit back and take a good look at what’s happening around you, and put yourself at a place of peace, can you effectively be in a position to receive what God has in store for you. Munaluchi is blossoming into the company I prayed for, and I’m so grateful and thankful to have you as a reader. Speaking of waiting on God, our covergirl LeToya Luckett shares her spiritual journey to finding love. My interview with her and her husband Tommie, is raw and candid. They share the story of how they met, how they fell in love, and what they love most about one another. Most importantly, they share a strong love for God, and through that common bond, their connection is stronger than ever. Enjoy the Winter 2017 issue, and as always, if you love it as much as we do, share it with your families and friends. Happy planning!

INTERVIEW
COLLIN PIERSON PHOTOGRAPHY
Divine Design WITH AKESHI AKINSEYE In this interview with Akeshi Akinseye, she discusses all things design, and gives us a sneak peek into her new Kesh Designs Home Collection.
HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN IN BUSINESS? Since 2012. HOW DID YOU GET YOUR START IN THE WEDDING PLANNING AND DESIGN BUSINESS? I got my start very early as a child growing up in Nigeria. I come from a family of entrepreneurs and I fell in love with design from helping my mother with the events she designed. I honestly had no idea I was going to be planning weddings. I wanted to be a therapist. I went to college for Psychology and was so sure I would go all the way getting my Phd.
For years, I would host my friends at my place and I really
enjoyed it. During college, I worked in retail then took a job doing sales after college. I was good at it and was making good money so I never thought about going into another profession. After 5 years with this company, we had a layoff. This was a complete surprise. I was jobless for a few months then I got engaged and of course planning was next. As I planned my wedding, I realized how much I enjoyed it. What seemed

WHEN AND WHY DID YOU DECIDE TO START YOUR FLORAL EXPERIENCE WORKSHOP? I started The Kesh Experience in August of 2016. I get a lot of emails and calls from planners and designers asking for help with their business. They really didn't know how to go about building their brand, and getting the right resources to grow. I found that there are a lot of eager and dedicated planners and designers that needed someone to guide them through the next steps to enhance their skills, take their business to another level and teach them the proper way to do things. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PART OF THE WEDDING? Oh there are quite a few favorites. Next to the Bride's grand entrance, my favorite part of the wedding is the reception room reveal. I live for it. It's the f irst time the couple gets to see the room together and really take it all in. Before then, there is so much happening and nerves kick in. This time is so special for them and to me as well. It makes all the months of prepping and planning worth it. WHAT IS THE CRAZIEST REQUEST YOU HAVE HAD FROM A BRIDE? I once had a request from a bride to call and check up on her every single day leading to the wedding and give wedding updates daily. She needed to hear my voice everyday she said. Safe to say that relationship was not a good f it. HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR DESIGN AESTHETIC? My design aesthetic is very detailed, it's layered, it's romantic, it's timeless. COLLIN PIERSON PHOTOGRAPHY
stressful to other brides was actually fun for me. I decided to put my all into my wedding planning and that's exactly what I did. My wedding was the f irst wedding I planned and it was a learning experience for me. TELL US ABOUT THE COMPANIES UNDER THE KESH LUXURY GROUP. Kesh Luxury Group is my parent company. Under the group, I have a planning, f loral/design and home decor division. Kesh Events: My very f irst company. Kesh Events specializes in wedding and event planning and coordination in Chicago and destinations worldwide. Kesh Design: This specializes in f lorals and event design offering anything from f lorals, to lighting, furniture and full scale productions. Kesh Designs Home: Is my newest company and this is our home decor brand of stylish tabletop accessories and unique decor pieces for your home.
INTERVIEW
WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE FLOWER TO DESIGN WITH? I am so in love with orchids. I rarely design without it. Its delicate and exotic. I love the look and what it signif ies. Orchids signify elegance, beauty and innocence. WHAT TRENDS ARE YOU SEEING FOR FLORAL DESIGN IN 2018? I am def initely seeing a more customized approach to weddings. Couples are opting for really good entertainment from the ceremony to reception. The guest experience seems to be the focus. The cookie-cutter wedding is going away thankfully and couples want their guests to enjoy a creative meal from cocktails to desserts, really fun entertainment, really beautiful decor with f lowers, lounge furnishing, lighting and more. WHAT
IS
YOUR
GREATEST
CAREER
ACHIEVEMENT
OR
MILESTONE? Publishing my book! It happened. It really happened. 10 years ago, I wouldn't have imagined I would be an author. But I am and it happened. I am so thankful. BIGGEST
LESSON
YOU'VE
LEARNED IN BUSINESS? Oh boy. How many am I allowed to list :-). My biggest lesson is that you can never get too comfortable. This goes for people and your work. I have also learned that you must have everything in writing and consult an attorney to review and

WITH YOUR FIRST BOOK BEING A HUGE SUCCESS, DO YOU
IT LIKE PLANNING A VOW RENEWAL FOR YOURSELF?
PLAN TO WRITE MORE BOOKS?
It was so much fun. I initially wanted to plan an intimate ceremony and party
Absolutely. I have already begun working on my second book and plan to
in Chicago but we decided to go away to somewhere exotic and romantic and enjoy a nice vacation after. So we chose Koh Samui, Thailand. It was the honeymoon we never took 5 years ago. It was completely stress free and fun and the location was everything I hoped for. The Resort was very helpful. I was in really good hands. FALL.2017

YOUR
NEWEST VENTURE, KESH DESIGNS HOME. TELL US WHAT WE CAN EXPECT? I cannot wait to share to the world my home collection. Its been a real labor of love and a lot of attention to detail has gone into this collection. You can expect nothing plain. Every piece has a unique detail you will fall in love with. If you are looking to take entertaining to a new level, this is it. I began with the table where so many memories are made. The collection has napkins, napkin rings, placemats, table runners, charger plates and glassware. Its something not just for your home but for event designers and planners as well. It's a great option for off ice showcase and styled shoots. Every piece is so detailed and will def initely give you that wow factor. I also added some home fragrance with our scented candles. There are three scents that I am just obsessed with. These are great for your home, off ice or as a gift. Def initely a great option for hostess gifts. The collection includes decorative pillows. We have different colors in a luxe velvet fabric, prints from our world glam collection and metallic fabrics. Each item is perfect for your off ice, living room or your bedroom. There is something for everyone. TELL US THREE THINGS THAT MOST PEOPLE DON'T KNOW ABOUT YOU. 1. I am in introvert. 2. I am not a fan of Holiday music and festivities. I know it makes me look so bad but ever since I left home (Nigeria), holidays are not the same. 3. I don’t like cheese of any kind. TELL US SOMETHING THAT RECENTLY LEFT YOU

INTERVIEW
the art of style
ON SET FOR THE MUNALUCHI COVER SHOOT. PHOTO: STANLO PHOTOGRAPHY
WITH J. BOLIN
WHO IS J. BOLIN? J.Bolin is a charming, southern (he's from Mississippi), debonair gentleman who enjoys fashion and has had the opportunity to showcase my fashion on celebrities across the world. WHEN AND HOW DID YOU GET YOUR START IN WARDROBE STYLING? My f irst client was my wife. We’ve been married for 12 years. I would have her so fresh, in thigh boots and all kinds of craziness that people would stop to ask what she’s wearing all the time, and that’s the reason why she believed that I could probably could get paid for what I was doing. I had a MySpace page, and at the time I called myself an Image Consultant [thanks to my wife]. So I went from an Image Consultant to being a Wardrobe Stylist. I had a chance to work with a local celebrity in my city and I wanted to be a celebrity stylist so bad, that I just put “celebrity fashion stylist” after my name after working with that client...it kind of spoke life into something that wasn’t there but something that I aspired to have. And it started to attract more industry people.
DIFFERENCES BETWEEN BRIDAL AND FASHION STYLING? It’s a whole different world. [When] dealing with a wedding for a high prof ile person or celebrity, there’s an expectation that’s set by other celebrities and there’s so much media and press. For the bridal styling, the f irst time was with Munaluchi and immediately it opened up a door to see things from a different perspective. I thought I was at my plateau after working with 45-50 celebrities, now its like going back to school and getting a masters degree. It’s so much...But I love it. I appreciate [Munaluchi] for trusting me to be as creative as I want to be. Sometimes it works well to be able to shine and show off your gifts from God. TOP THREE STYLING MUST HAVES? 1. For a woman to have a fresh crisp look that will get her in any door, you need a crisp white button down. It’s a must. 2. A nude or neutral pair of heels. 3. A great white pair of pants. You will always win. Works for any shape and size, as long as it’s tailored to your body, it will always make you look like money. I’m about f it, size, f lattery and style.
"I'm about fit, size, flattery and style."
WHAT TYPE OF DEGREE DO YOU HAVE? I have a degree in advanced technology, which is basically robotics. When I left the university, I actually started working for the Nissan plant, working on the lines and doing robotics. So I would program robots then, but now I’m programming women on what to wear. WHERE DO YOU GET YOUR INSPIRATION FROM? I get my inspiration from my upbringing. [I]was taught to take pride in what you look like. When you leave the house, even if you’re going to the mailbox, you needed to look decent. My grandfather was a carpenter. I have never seen him without his pants ironed or his shirt tucked in. Pens in his pocket on the lefthand side. My great grandfather was a minister. So I had always seen him in suits and hats. And the women of my family have always been very classy women. That’s just something that I tapped into. I love class, but with a little bit of edge.
WINTER.2017
ALL TIME FAVORITE DESIGNER? This may get me in some trouble… Nardos. She gets it. Feminine, ultra glam and classy.
ADVICE FOR UP AND COMING FASHION STYLISTS? Go to school to be a doctor. Just kidding! You have to know that there’s purpose behind it and Ministry in it because we are really changing lives. It’s not just about fashion. We make husbands and wives look at one another again. We make cancer patients feel great again. We make women who have given their lives to their families and have lost their conf idence feel better about themselves. We’re reviving people’s careers. We’re keeping people relevant that already have great careers. So it’s more than just dressing. If you love what you do and you’re passionate about what you do, it will shine in what you do. TELL US SOMETHING THAT RECENTLY LEFT YOU INSPIRED . My team. They inspire me everyday. Because they look to me for help and for all kinds of things and it makes me get my butt up and get life together...because I know that I have people that are ready to get up and shine….so it inspires me to get up everyday. Ultimately, that’s why God put me here to be doing what I’m doing. It’s to help me change lives. HOW DO BRIDES GET IN CONTACT WITH YOU? Call

FIND
INSPIRATION
IN
YOUR
MUSIC.
WHICH
MUSICIANS HAVE YOU FOUND THE MOST INSPIRATION IN THROUGHOUT LIFE? I’m inspired to inspire all day e’ryday! It’s amazing seeing how many folks get lifted by my art. Believe it or not, I f ind my greatest musical inf luence from the greats of way back - Nat King Cole, Sam Cook, Sinatra, James Brown, and Michael Jackson. WHO WAS YOUR BIGGEST INFLUENCE GROWING UP? Growing up, Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, and ALLLL of the Winans inf luenced me.
TRAPPED ON A DESERT ISLAND SCENARIO; WHAT ARE THE FIVE ALBUMS
PHOTO: JASON KEEPLER
artist spotlight
YOU COULDN’T LIVE WITHOUT? Stevie Wonder - Talking Book. Michael Jackson - The Essential Michael Jackson. CeCe Winans - Throne Room. PJ Morton - Gumbo. MAJOR. - i am MAJOR.
HOW HAS THE PLACE OF YOUR UPBRINGING SHAPED WHO YOU ARE?
Houston, TX raised me well... to be humble and great at the same time. Our Texas motto is “Everything is Bigger in Texas”... so for me, it’s GO BIG or GO HOME!
WITH MAJOR.
DO YOU EVER EXPERIENCE WRITER’S BLOCK? IF SO, HOW DO YOU STAY
American Pop-Soul, Singer/Song-Writer, MAJOR. has not only been consistently climbing the music charts but also climbing the ladder into the hearts of millions of fans world-wide. Most notably for his hit single “Why I Love You” which has quickly become one of the most popular wedding songs of all-time, even having been described by Stevie Wonder as the “wedding song of the year.” MAJOR., a Texas native, fell in love with making music at a young age, performing throughout childhood, and continuing to develop his talents throughout high school and college. Having recently performed to a sold out Muna Love Affair; MunaLuchi’s multi-city experiential wedding show, we were able to sit down with MAJOR. and discuss the inspiration behind the number one wedding song, as well as his road to becoming the musician he is today.
INSPIRED? I do experience writer’s block from time to time but my remedy is to pause and put my mind on the reason I’m telling this story. What’s the “Why”? Then usually, newer words just start f lowing. And if that don’t work - I let the song chill until I’m inspired to pick it back up. I ain’t touching it if inspiration ain’t in it.
YOUR SONG, “WHY I LOVE YOU” HAS BECOME ONE OF THE MOST POPULAR
DO YOU HAVE AN ULTIMATE GOAL AS A MUSICIAN, OR ARE YOU SIMPLY
WEDDING SONGS OF ALL-TIME. WHAT WAS THE INSPIRATION BEHIND
ENJOYING THE JOURNEY WHEREVER IT MAY LEAD? I want a Grammy. I want to be the soundtrack of an era. I want to make music that will live & be loved forever. I want to rock stages and arenas all over the world! And I will.
It’s pretty dope to see a dream unfold the way it has! I wanted “Why I Love You” to reach the world and it’s doing that and then some. GOD-Love was my inspiration. I wanted to recalibrate our way of being & doing love in this crazy world. I had weddings, babies, self-esteem, proposals, church, ...all of it in mind. I saw it. Now we’re here! THE SONG? DID YOU HAVE WEDDINGS IN MIND WHEN WRITING IT?
WHAT IS THE GREATEST REWARD YOU RECEIVE FROM YOUR MUSIC?
Growth & change from the listener - an escape to the better things. Did I help make their life better? If yes, we good money!
"I want to rock stages and arenas all over the world ! And I will."
WERE YOU ALWAYS DESTINED FOR MUSIC, OR WAS THERE A MOMENT WHEN YOU REALIZED BEING A MUSICIAN WAS GOING TO BE YOUR LIFE?
I told my mama at 3yrs old that I wanted to be a famous singer. She supported that dream from jump and put me in school for it. I’ve been singing all my life. Wouldn’t be surprised if I sang a few notes to the doctor that delivered me. Hah! IF YOU HAD TO SELECT AN ALTERNATIVE ROAD IN LIFE, WHAT CAREER PATH ASIDE FROM MUSIC DO YOU SEE YOURSELF FOLLOWING? Psychology. I really dig learning & understanding people & their function. I try my best to help people f ind their life meaning & hope to keep on living.

MunaLuchi EIC Interviews LeToya Luckett and Tommicus Walker JN: HOW DID THE TWO OF YOU MEET?
LL: A mutual friend told me about him while we were at a wedding. He didn’t know who I was, didn’t know what I looked like. He didn’t know my full name. And I did that for a reason. I felt that I wanted to do something different. She said, I have somebody you should meet. He’s very attractive, he’s a man of God, he’s a great dude. And she just told me what a great man he was. I was kind of uncomfortable with being hooked up, but then again I was like, this person is taking time to get to know him, then I felt comfortable enough giving my number. So he called, and [on] the f irst conversation... we stayed on the phone for hours. We talked for so long, laughing and vibing. We talked every single day. JN: So you hadn’t seen him yet? LL: No. I saw a picture of him, but he had not seen a picture of me. JN: So did he know your name at least? What did you tell him your name was? LL: I told him my name was Toya. I didn’t tell him my last name...didn’t tell him I was in the industry...didn’t tell him anything. And so, fast forward, we were already praying together. [One day] he asked me for a self ie and I was like naw. [Instead] I sent him a picture of my wrist. Tommie and LeToya burst out in laughter. JN: Did you really send him a picture of your wrist? LL: Yes. Just my wrist. T W: Just her wrist. Just the skin. I could tell by her wrist that she was f ine. LL: I actually sent him a picture of my wrist. And he was able to see my feet. Then he told me that he could tell by my wrist and my feet that I was f ine! Then he asked to take me out on a date. This all fell within a months time. He took a f light out to LA, and brought his daughter. He saw me [for the f irst time] and was like, “Dang girl. You cute! Thank you Lord! We went to dinner, we talked for hours, and immediately I felt whole. The connection was so real. The next day he took me to Disneyland with his daughter. And I wanted to make sure that I gave her some space, and didn’t try and jump all over her and want her to like me. It wasn’t about that. I was like, this isn’t a sprint, it’s a marathon and I feel like we should take time to get to know each other, and by the middle of the day, she was around my neck. And our connection was very strong. By that Sunday, he asked me to come over to the hotel and have breakfast with him
and his daughter. And we watched Church together. And I was laying there with him and his daughter and he said, “You know I’m going to pursue you.” JN: WHAT MADE YOU DECIDE TO BRING YOUR DAUGHTER WITH YOU ON THE TRIP WITH IT BEING YOUR FIRST TIME MEETING LETOYA ?
T W: I felt good about the situation because like she said, we were praying together. So for me, that spiritual connection that she and I had early on, made me feel very comfortable. That was one of the things I prayed for early on in the year...I asked God to send me a wife. And once she came my way and He connected us in spirit, I already knew that she was the lady that he sent for me. So [there] was no time to waste. God already put in my heart that [LeToya] is the one...this is your wife, you might as well go ahead and bring your daughter and introduce her too. MB: Where did you tell your daughter that you were going? T W: I told her we were going to Disneyland. I didn’t want to push my daughter Madison. So I just let it happen by itself. LL: Organically. T W: That’s right. So I told her, this is Ms. Letoya. And at f irst she was a little shy, but after a while she was ok. JN: How old is Madison? T W: She’s 5. LL: Going on 27
JN: WHEN DID YOU KNOW IT WAS THE RIGHT TIME TO PROPOSE?
T W: The thing was, I knew that she was going to be my wife. We had gone on several vacations together leading up to that proposal. So I felt good about it. It was just a matter of timing. She and I talked about that from almost day 1. I surprised her at my birthday. And uh... LL: I thought I was surprising him! JN: So you thought you were planning a big party for him. You thought you were doing something special, huh! LL: Oh God yes! Oh my Gosh. T W: I wasn’t supposed to propose to her on my birthday. She was supposed to have a concert in Houston the same weekend that Hurricane Harvey hit. As soon as she would have gone on stage, I would have proposed to her. But right before then, on a Monday, (my birthday was on a Wednesday,) God was like, go ahead and do it. Cause I already had the ring and everything. God was just telling me, go ahead and propose. So that video, I created that video the night before I proposed. She was out running errands and I was just sitting on the couch with all my videos, all the pictures that we took from the very beginning, from Mickey Mouse all the way up to my birthday. LL: He proposed on August 16h. LeToya smiles ear to ear while gazing at her ring. JN: ON YOUR END, HOW DID YOU FEEL WHEN EVERYTHING WAS HAPPENING.
Everyone laughs.
WHAT WAS GOING THROUGH YOUR HEAD?
JN: TOMMIE, WHEN DID YOU KNOW THAT LETOYA WAS THE ONE? THERE MUST HAVE BEEN A TIME WHEN YOU WERE LIKE, “THIS IS IT. ”
T W: True story. I knew that she was the one when we hugged at the Ferris Wheel. JN: At Disneyland? T W: Yeah. LL: We have a picture! T W: I don’t think you understand how we hugged. There’s a line to get on the Ferris Wheel, she and I just clamped together. It was just...it felt like Him. Letoya brings out the picture of her and Tommie hugg ing at the Ferris Wheel. LL: He bought me a sweatshirt. So we had twin sweatshirts. We hugged all the way through that line. I did not want to let go.

LL: I was so surprised. JN: You had no idea? LL: I didn’t, but He knows me. My connection with God is on a whole different level. And I felt it. JN: So you felt something was going to happen? LL: I was like, he might propose to me today. I don’t know how...But I kept putting it out of my mind. I wanted this day to be about him. It’s his birthday. And so, when it actually happened, I was like, are you serious God? Really?! I was right?... But I felt it. I literally was saying a prayer...I said, Lord, you’re getting me excited and if that’s not the case, I don’t want this feeling that you’re giving me and then if it doesn’t happen and I won’t be able to have fun at his birthday because you’ve put it in my heart. I had no idea.

LL: It’s been cool. It’s been great. Only because I working with [Tommie] and we have a great wedding planner, Premier Events. [They] have been awesome in helping us put this together. I was surprised at how involved he is. I run everything by him...color of the f lowers...cake..everything. I’m telling you, down to the f lower girls. JN: Hmm. He’s like a mini groomzilla! LL - He’s def initely on it. And I love him for that. He’s not putting all the pressure on me to get everything done. The invitations we did together. We did everything together. The only thing he hasn’t been involved in is my dress. I’ve seen all his suits and everything. But he hasn’t seen my dress. JN: HOW DID YOU PICK A WEDDING DATE? WHAT WAS THE PROCESS?
LL: [Tommie] was like I’m not going into 2018 without you being my wife. So we went on vacation in Turks and Caicos. We started looking up venues. And it’s crazy because my cousin sent me a link to venues. And I looked through that, and I saw this venue and thought this looks crazy expensive but somehow Tommie saw the venue too at a different time and we we both sat down and came together, [it turns out] we picked the exact same venue. So we got on the phone, long distance and everything. He called, spoke to the lady and the next thing we know, we had a venue date. JN: WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE THINGS TO DO AS A COUPLE?
LL: Eat! Yes, both of us. We love eating chicken wings. Tommie starts laughing. LL: We love traveling together. T W: Traveling and food go together JN: WHAT DO YOU LOVE MOST ABOUT TOMMIE?
LL: That’s so awesome. He has such a good heart. His love for God is why I love him. More than anything because I know of the way he loves and serves God, I know he’ll honor me. And he listens to Him. And I love the way he prays for me, I love the way he prays for our family. I love the way he goes hard for our family. He’s a family man, but most of all his heart for God. He has kept me in line with the Word. We pray before we go to bed every night. That’s why. And...I can’t look at him without laughing or smiling. JN: WHAT DO YOU LOVE MOST ABOUT LETOYA?
T W: Honestly though, this girl has a real sweet spirit... A real sweet spirit about her. A real good heart. She’s a nurturer...always. As a mother for my child...she’s an awesome mother and she’s an awesome partner. She holds it down. We are like best friends. She’s my everything. But the thing I love about her most is that she’s also a child of God...she fears God. And that’s what attracted me to her. Anytime that we miss out on anything as far as getting into our own world, we always go back to the spirit...to the connection we have for one another. It’s so strong. That’s why I love her so much.
Thanks so much LeToya and Tommie for sharing your love story with us. The MunaLuchi Team wishes you nothing but blessings and happiness in your marriage.

“The bridal procession during the ceremony was beautiful. I had ‘A Thousand Years’ by Christina Perry playing as I walked down the aisle to meet my handsome groom. It was a magical, beautiful and teary moment.” ADVICE FOR ENGAGED COUPLES:
“This day is yours and you only get one chance to get everything you want, so make sure you do just that. If there is anything you want or need, make it happen. You will most likely get a lot of recommendations and advice from your family and friends, but prioritize yours needs and preferences. Always stick to your gut. Most importantly, PRAY. Keeping God involved will only make your process easier. Also, don't forget to have fun and enjoy every moment of the day. Finally, hire Stanley Babb as your photographer. ADVICE FROM THE BRIDE:
“The best advice I can give to an engaged couple is to have boundaries with your bridal party when you plan your wedding. This is especially if you have a large bridal party. Our bridal party was 18 people in total. Initially, it’s a happy time, but as things progress you see a shift, because planning a wedding doesn’t have only happy moments. It’s can become a stressful time for everyone a part of the wedding, and if you don’t have boundaries it can cause a rift in valuable relationships. Also, be prepared for the unexpected. I got sick on my wedding day and threw up from after the ceremony, and well into the next day. I would have never expected that to happen to me. Still and all I had a good time, because I went into the day with the mind frame that whatever was going to happen would happen, and there was nothing I could do about it. I would take small breaks to tend to my illness and then go right back to the party. People didn’t notice anything was wrong because I had the best time! Last, it’s your money being spent, don’t let anyone else spend it for you. Be sure that you are spending your money on things you can afford and need. Last, wedding planners and coordinators are great, but can be too opinionated in a day that’s about what you want-- I didn’t choose to have a wedding planner because of this. I went with a wedding coordinator instead, and didn’t seek that out until most of my planning was done. So again, set boundaries with EVERYONE.” - JENNIFER

ften in life just when you are ready to throw in the towel you f inally receive the payoff you’ve been waiting for. For Andrea, this couldn’t be more true. Having all but given up on f inding love through a dating app, Andrea was just about to cancel her account when she received one last message. That last message would turn out to be exactly the person she was always looking for. After deciding to give it one more chance and respond to Brandon’s message, they soon realized that had much in common, and enjoyed getting to know each other for the next month before f inally deciding to go on their f irst date. The sparks f lew that evening at a restaurant in San Antonio, Texas as Andrea and Brandon instantly connected, both realizing that what they had together was something extra special. After three months of bliss life would test their resolve when Andrea was given an irrefutable opportunity in Hawaii. They made the decision to commit to a long-distance relationship. After over a year of being apart they decided to go on a cruise together. On the evening before their departure Brandon arranged dinner in the San Antonio Pearl District. After a lovely dinner, he suggested they enjoy a walk, taking in the beautiful scenery. During their romantic stroll, Brandon shared his life plans
with Andrea, about how he wanted her to always be a part of that life – expressing his love for her. When the moment was perfect he dropped to one knee, ring in hand, and asked her to spend the rest of her life with as husband and wife. For Andrea, wedding shopping was “exciting and full of emotions.” Although she had three appointments set up, she only made it through one. Her experience at the Winnie Couture Bridal Salon in Atlanta was an “amazing” experience, complete with her own “lavish” f itting space. Having singled out three dresses from their catalog, Andrea had one specif ically in mind that she felt would end up being the one, and when she tried on that textured tulle mermaid gown with sweetheart neckline and delicate embroidery wrapped along the bodice and skirt line – she knew for sure that it certainly was. Their beautiful classic and elegant wedding took place in the historic Georgian Terrace Hotel in Atlanta, Georgia. The ceremony incorporated the jumping of the broom tradition that has been a part of Andrea’s family for generations.

In fall 2015 while hosting a client on NFL gameday, I f irst noticed Shara walking down the stadium corridor by herself. I'll never forget the striking red dress and modelesque stature she possessed. She caught my eye but I did not know who she was. Months later in March 2016 we would cross paths again. Shara hosted a training and stadium construction tour for the company's sales team. I attempted to start conversation by asking her silly questions about the cranes and other random fun facts. Unfortunately, she barely noticed me at the moment being in her full work-mode mindset. Being an extremely busy and independent woman, it was going to take God's divine intervention to slow her down long enough to notice the compassionate, intelligent, and Godfearing man standing right in front of her. After the tour, I worked up the courage to reach out to Shara through e-mail. March 16th, we set a date to meet up for lunch at Yard House at Atlantic Station. To Shara it was a colleague simply reaching out for a work lunch but I had other plans. Before the appetizers were on the table, it became clear I had other interests and we hit it off immediately. By the end of the lunch date we had made plans to hang out the very next night. Our f irst off icial date was a casual night on Edgewood Avenue playing pool at the local pub followed by a "romantic" meal at Harold's Fried Chicken. From there, we began to spend lots of quality time getting to know one another. It became very apparent to both of us that God had purposely placed us in each other’s lives at the perfect time for the perfect reasons. Over the next four months, I asked Shara several times to be my girlfriend but she still wasn't ready to make that step. Finally, on July 4th, Shara worked up the courage to ask ME to be her boyfriend!" - Michael

THE PROPOSAL: "Ten months later, I knew I was ready for the next step and had to be tricky to surprise Shara for the proposal. I asked her parents for their approval a few months prior and when they could make it to Atlanta. I wanted our close family and friends to be there too, so I rented out a rooftop in Midtown Atlanta for the dozens to
gather. I previously took her there early in our dating and remembered how much she loved it. To throw her off of the surprise I told her we were going to a Chris Rock comedy show and we're going to meet another couple at a rooftop bar until showtime. As soon as we arrived at the rooftop, she was shocked to see everyone who traveled from around the country. Speechless with eyes full of tears, she turned around and saw me one knee. I have no clue what I said, but she said Y ES!" - Michael WHAT DID YOU DO ON YOUR FIRST DATE? "Our f irst off icial date was a casual night on Edgewood Avenue playing pool at the local pub followed by a "romantic" meal at Harold's Fried Chicken. Once Michael saw me devour every last piece of my meal without hesitation, he instantly knew I was being genuine and he appreciated it." - Shara
WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE THING TO DO AS A COUPLE? "EAT. Some people eat to live, we live to eat! The diverse cultures that make up Atlanta offer countless restaurant options with different themes and atmospheres. We like to immerse ourselves in the dining experience and bond over thoughtful conversation and laughter. We both come from families that center their gatherings around good food and fellowship so it's an emotional thing for us as well."

HOW HAS WEDDING PLANNING BEEN SO FAR?: "Initially it seemed like a chore with the overwhelmingly long to-do lists but after hiring a planner who is an expert at wedding planning, we are both able to step back and let her guide the process. We're enjoying the freedom to compare and select vendors and bounce our ideas off of the planner. The hardest part by far has been keeping the guest list within our desired range. So far we've secured a date, venue, photographer, videographer, dress, and DJ. Next up is to send out our save the dates! ." WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING FORWARD TO MOST? Groom- I'm looking forward to becoming one in front of our friends and family and sharing this special day together. Bride- I'm most looking forward to having my father walk me down the aisle to my future husband to say the words "I do". There's only a few occasions in life where we are able to gather with all of our closest friends and family in the same place. I'm counting down until Michael and I join in this covenant between ourselves and God in celebration with everyone.

a DC love story TRICHELLE + GLENN Washington, DC
BRIDE-TO-BE: Trichelle Ekpe GROOM-TO-BE: Glenn George II WEDDING DATE: August 5th, 2018 WEDDING LOCATION: Foxchase Manor in Manassas, Virginia THE FIRST ENCOUNTER: "Glenn and I met in November 2013 at the Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) Leadership Institute in Washington, DC. We were both serving as Student Ambassadors for our respective universities and served as the Master and Mistress of Ceremony for sessions at the Leadership Institute. The Leadership Institute conference hosted approximately 800 attendees and all students were assigned by group color to attend workshops. We were in the same group color and saw

each other every day but only said casual "Hellos." Three days into the conference, we both reported for our ambassador duties to volunteer and prepare packages for the TMCF Gala Awards and this was the f irst time we held a conversation for more than thirty minutes and soon after became very good friends. After two years of friendship, Glenn asked me to be his girlfriend in St. John, US Virgin Islands on January 5th, 2015." - Trichelle
THE PROPOSAL: Glenn and I lived 1,648 miles apart from each other (I lived in St. Croix, US Virgin Islands and Glenn lived in Baltimore, Maryland) and spent most of our time communicating via telephone and video chat. While dating we would travel at least every three months to see each other. On September 2016, Glenn and I met in North Carolina and spent our entire time in the Blue Ridge Mountains at the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, North Carolina. We were so fascinated with the history and attraction of George Vanderbilt's home and spent the entire time segwaying, walking the gardens, and site seeing the property. Later that afternoon, Glenn told me that he had reserved seats for us to have dinner in George Vanderbilts home that evening. While driving to dinner, Glenn mentioned that he had to stop to pick up the tickets and asked me to accompany him to get them before dinner. As we began walking, Glenn asked me, "When do you plan to relocate to Maryland?" (Relocation was something that we had been discussing for some time). I was caught off guard by the question and said, "I am not sure." Glenn
then reached into his jacket pocket and pulled out a plane ticket which showed a trip from St. Croix to Maryland. I asked, "You bought a one-way ticket?!" He then said, "You always speak about being f inancially stable, how much should I write the check for?" He then reached into his jacket and pulled out a pen and a f lat black case, he slowly opened it and there was the most beautiful ring a girl can ever ask for. Glenn popped the question and asked for my hand in marriage and I said "Yes!!" Glenn hired photographers to capture the moment and we had our f irst professional engagement shoot in the gardens of the Biltmore Estate right after.

WHAT DID YOU DO ON YOUR FIRST DATE? Our f irst date was at Oceana in St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands overlooking the Ocean. It was a beautiful and romantic night. FAVORITE THING(S) TO DO AS A COUPLE? Watch our favorite shows, travel, take walks in DC to see monuments and museums, and have spontaneous dinner dates.
HOW HAS WEDDING PLANNING BEEN SO FAR? Wedding planning has been such a fun experience for us! We are excited about putting our ideas together to have our dream wedding to celebrate with our friends and family.
I KNEW I WAS IN LOVE WHEN... "When his “I’s” turned into “We’s.” From the moment we became friends and built a foundation he always told me what his intentions were for our relationship. He was always my support system, counselor, accountability partner, and a great listener who payed attention to every single detail so when I lived in St. Croix and he made it a routine to surprise me with weekly gifts at the post off ice such as my favorite tea when I was sick, my favorite nail polish, and love letters, I knew he was a keeper!" - Trichelle "When I f irst saw her, there was something about her presence and demeanor that grabbed my attention and pulled me in. After a few small conversations and realizing how much we had in common and how beautiful she is on the inside just as she is on the outside, I knew it was a matter of time before we cultivated a meaningful relationship. Our chemistry and interactions are always magical and early on I knew we were destined for forever." - Glenn

THE PROPOSAL "Ola proposed in a beautiful Botanical Garden with a violinist serenading me to my favorite artist, BeyoncĂŠ. He always said he wished he could bring BeyoncĂŠ to perform at my wedding because he knows how much of a fan I am. I didn't realize she was playing for me for a very long while. I just assumed it was a feature they had while people enjoyed the garden or for one of the other couples walking around. It was epic and so thoughtful. He had my mom, brother and favorite wedding planner all in on the plan. He even had a photographer there ready to capture the moment. I cried like a baby, big surprise there but it is a moment I will never forget!" - Coty

HOW THEY MET: " Our romance began in The Windy City
when neither of us were enjoying the city because we were buried in books. We were set up on a blind date by mutual friends. We are forever grateful for them. On our f irst date Olamide decided we would go bowling, there is still a discrepancy on who won that day but the rest is as they say history. Since that day we've stood hand in hand praying, accomplishing our dreams (we are Doctors now) and enjoying this love God has blessed us with!
THE ENGAGEMENT SESSION: " I wanted something very sultry, romantic, elegant. I wanted to give a prelude to our wedding which will be like a romantic, candle lit jazz club. We immediately fell in love with the space when Daniel, our photographer, showed us. He was able to capture the dark and sultry vibe I wanted! We also took some lighter pictures outside of a church to capture our fun side." OUR FIRST DATE: "On our f irst date Olamide decided we would go bowling. There is still a discrepancy on who won that day. We enjoyed ourselves so much we didn't want the night to end so we met friends at a club. We were in our own world on the dance f loor." FAVORITE THING TO DO AS A COUPLE: We are big foodies so our favorite thing to do is try different restaurants. In Chicago, that made for really fun date nights with all of the diverse types of food!" WEDDING PLANNING THUS FAR: Wedding planning has been crazy and exciting. We are having two ceremonies, a traditional wedding in Nigeria and the other in Houston, TX. Darrell from events with Darrell has made me and my family a believer in wedding planners. I would not have been able to pull off a wedding without him as Olamide and I are both in residency. In addition neither of us live in Houston! So Darrell sets up several days of meetings with some of the best vendors in the Houston market so that we can meet everyone then hop back on the plane! Darrell has become a part of our family and his spirit makes you even more excited about getting married."

"I'm most excited about Olamide seeing me for the f irst time as I walk down the aisle. I'm also excited to just have a celebration we have been so dedicated to advancing our careers I'm ready to let loose and have some fun! " - Coty "I'm excited about our f irst dance, even during different stages in our relationship when either of us were having a bad day we would slow dance to change our focus to something that has always been positive which is our love. So I'm excited to do our thing on such a special day." - Olamide

The inspiration... "This shoot was designed for the modern, high fashion bride who still wants to embrace her inner princess. It was designed with a clean black, white and gold base palette and accented with soft creams, peaches and some greens. The f irst look channeled the princess look with the gorgeous Maison De Genevieve ball gown and head piece, while the second look brought out the high fashion element in the shoot. Each look was f inished off with a gorgeous bouquet that complimented the overall style of the look and shoot. Our lush and layered tablescape featured lots of pretty details including modern black and goldgeometric menus and mini modern delectable cakes. Beautifully textured f lowers in modern white vases added an overall luxurious feel to the tablescape." -Abby of Pretty Posh Events
