The Municipal Gallery, the Arts and Crafts Centre and the Alportel Museum Centre invite you to discover unique experiences that will awaken your senses through the different skills and views about the individual and collective reality. Admission is free. It is a journey punctuated by the reinvention of ancient and other traditions, which take a new approach to creating differentiated, unique and original pieces made of a wide range of materials. Earthenware, wood, painting,ceramics,photography,weavingandrecycledgoodsarejust a few of the raw materials and methods used in the creative processes.

Direct contact with the public is another worthwhile aspect that enrichestheseculturalhubs,astheyhavetheabilitytoofferpractical sessions where experiences and stories can be shared by visitors and artists. O grupo de Amigos da Filatelia recorda a 1.ª Travessia Aérea do AtlânticoSul,em1922,concretizadaporGagoCoutinho,comraízes paternas são-brasenses, e por Sacadura Cabral, elevada pela UNESCOaPatrimónioMundial.

Estes homens do mar criaram o corretor de rumos, e adaptaram o sextante da navegação marítima à aviação, posteriormente utilizadonasgrandesaeronaves.

Omaterialdecolecionismoaquiexpostoassocia-seagrandesfeitos deportuguesesquecontribuíramparaaHistóriaUniversal.

The Friends of Philately Group is commemorating the first Air Crossing of the South Atlantic, in 1922, carried out by Gago Coutinho, whose paternal roots were in São Brás, and Sacadura Cabralin1922,classedbyUNESCOasWorldHeritage.

These seafarers created the course corrector and adapted the sextant used to navigate at sea for use in aviation;it would laterbe usedinlargeaircraft.

Thecollector'sitemsexhibitedhererelatetogreatachievementsby Portuguesepeoplewhocontributedtoworldhistory.

Carola Colley é uma artista contemporânea multidisciplinar que recentemente se mudou para São Brás de Alportel e aproveita esta exposição de pintura, escultura e cerâmica para celebrar a sua chegadacá.

Nascida na Malásia e formada em Paris e Edimburgo, trabalhou e expôsamplamentedurantemaisdetrintaanos.

Inspira-se na paisagem circundante - sempre a desenhar da vida - e depois tece elementos de mito e história para desenvolver ideias e composição.

CarolaColleyisamultidisciplinarycontemporaryartistwhorecently moved to São Brás de Alportel and is taking the opportunity presented by this exhibition of painting, sculpture and ceramics to celebrateherarrivalhere.

Born in Malaysia and educated in Paris and Edinburgh, she has workedandexhibitedextensivelyforover30years. She takes her inspiration from the surrounding scenery - she is alwaysdrawinglife-andthenweaveselementsofmythandhistory todevelopherideasandcomposition.

Yvonne Rotgans nasceu em 1962 nos Países Baixos e vive na Amendoeira,emLoulé,desde2001.AartedaYvonneéumamistura de estilos e influências dos Países Baixos, das Caraíbas, de Portugal, entreoutrosqueconheceuapóstersaídodaHolanda,em1993. “Todososdiassomoscercadospelabeleza.Paravê-lasóprecisamos de prestar atenção. Gosto de colocar imagens realísticas em cenas imagináriasparaestimularaSUAimaginação”,explica.

Nesta exposição apresenta obras coloridas e animadas inspiradas nanatureza,especialmenteospássaroseospeixes.

Yvonne Rotgans was born in the Netherlands in 1962 and has been livinginAmendoeira,inLoulé,since2001.Herartisafusionofstyles and influences from the Netherlands, the Caribbean, Portugal and other origins that she discovered after leaving the Netherlands in 1993.

“Every day we are surrounded by beauty. To see it, you just need to payattention.Iliketoputrealisticimagesintoimaginarysettingsto stimulateYOURimagination,”sheexplains.

In this exhibition, she is presenting colourful and animated works inspiredbynature,especiallybirdsandfish.

JOÃO CUSTÓDIO E LUÍS VALE

João Pedro Custódio (João das Madeiras) é um artista exímio no trabalho sobre a madeira, formado pela Fundação Ricardo Espírito Santo. Luís António Vale (Luís das Flautas) é artesão e curioso pela magiadasonoridadedobambu. Esta exposição nasce da admiração mútua. João dá vida à madeira com instrumentos manuais enquanto Luís, com tubos e teclas de bambu, constrói flautas e marimbas na descoberta de sons singulares O trabalho ao vivo destes artistas é um convite inesquecível a todas as crianças das escolas e a todos os amantes dasartes.

João Pedro Custódio (João das Madeiras) is a superb artist who trained at the Ricardo Espírito Santo Foundation and works with wood. Luís António Vale (Luís das Flautas) is an artisan who is enthralledbythemagicofbamboo'ssonority

This exhibition is the result of their mutual admiration. João brings the wood to life with manual instruments while Luís uses bamboo tubes and keys to make flutes and marimbas, in an exploration of unique sounds. Watching these two artists at work is an unforgettable experience for all schoolchildren and, indeed, for all loversofthearts.

José Manuel Belchior e Vítor do Carmo Lourenço são dois colecionadores são-brasenses, partilham da mesma paixão pela Históriadasuaterra.Dessapaixãonasceuavontadeeainiciativade produzir esta exposição onde apresentam diferentes objetos que devidamente apresentados e contextualizados dão a conhecer pormenores e pessoas que a História contada de forma mais “institucional” não refere, mas que são enriquecedores e esclarecedoressobreasformasdevidadeoutrostemposaomesmo tempoquepromovemareflexãosobreaatualidadeeofuturo.

José Manuel Belchior and Vítor do Carmo Lourenço are two collectorsfromSãoBráswhosharethesamepassionforthehistory of their land. This passion gave rise to a desire and subsequent undertaking to stage this exhibition, where they will be showcasing differentobjects.Dulypresentedandcontextualised,thepieceswill acquaintvisitorswithdetailsandpeoplesnotmentionedinthemore “formal” history books. However, they are enriching and shed light onthewaysoflifeinbygonedays,whilesimultaneouslystimulating reflectiononthepresentdayandthefuture.

A artista Maria de Deus Alves vive atualmente em São Brás de Alportel.

O gosto pela pintura começou desde cedo a manifestar -se com algumas interrupções pelo caminho, no entanto, hoje em dia é na pinturaondededicaamaiorpartedoseutempo.

Nesta exposição apresenta pinturas maioritariamente a óleo, que desenvolveu ao longo dos anos. Algumas telas são recriações de imagens, às quais atribuiu o seu sentido estético, trabalhando harmonizaçõesdecoredetalhesnodesenho.

ArtistMariadeDeusAlvescurrentlylivesinSãoBrásdeAlportel. Herlikingforpaintingbeganatanearlyagewithafewinterruptions along the way. Nowadays, however, she dedicates the majority of hertimetopainting.

This exhibition will mainly feature oil paintings that she has done over the years. Some of her canvases are recreations of images, to which she has brought her aesthetic sense, with a focus on harmonisingthecoloursanddetailsinthedrawing.

Esta exposição homenageia o Mestre Querubim Lapa, que se distinguiucomoPintoreCeramista.UmdosgrandesartistasdoNeo Realismo, muito conhecido pelos grandes painéis que revestem váriasfachadasemtodoopaísemespecialemLisboa.

A obra do Mestre Querubim Lapa inspirou quatro ceramistas e três pintores a criar as peças que compõem esta exposição que, este ano, conta com os ceramistas d'António, Nelson Martins, Clara Monteiro, Cristina Hagatong, e os pintores Manuela Santos, Ester AndréseJacquesJacobs.

This exhibition pays tribute to Master Querubim Lapa, a distinguishedpainterandpotter.QuerubimLapaisoneofthegreat neo-realist artists and is very well-known for the large panels covering various façades up and down the country, especially in Lisbon.

TheMaster'sworkinspiredfourpotters-d'António,NelsonMartins, Clara Monteiro and Cristina Hagatong - and three paintersManuela Santos, Ester Andrés and Jacques Jacobs - to create the piecesonshowatthisyear'sexhibition.

Perto do expressionismo abstrato, Gabrielle e Isa trabalham com cores, efeitos de luz, linhas e curvas. Gabrielle busca montagens de formas e contrastes. Isa explora suportes, materiais e texturas. A intensidade e a alegria percorrem o trabalho desta dupla inspiradora.

GabrielleandIsa'spathsfirstcrossedinOlhãoin2021.

Driven by their creative energy, the two artists, one from Belgium and the other from Switzerland, visualised and created the Atelier 33together.

Working with colours, light effects, lines and curves, their style is close to abstract expressionism. Gabrielle seeks constructions of forms and contrasts, while Isa explores supports, materials and textures. Intensity and good cheer are in evidence in this inspiring duo'swork.

A maioria participou em vários cursos de arte com forte ênfase no comportamentodascoresparaalcançarprofundidadedepaisagem eharmoniaqueserefletenasobraspresentesnestaexposição.

A paixão pelos têxteis, pelos fios, cores, texturas e a arte do saber fazer, levou Susana Mendez a entrar no mundo da tecelagem manual.

Formadaemdesigngráficoeartistatêxtildecoraçãoéassimquese define enquanto profissional. Nascida numa família de artistas e pessoas de habilidade manual, Susana sempre soube que a arte estaria presente na sua vida. Foi num primeiro encontro com um tearmanualquedescobriuasuapaixão,atecelagem.

A exposição tem ainda influência da artesã e sua mãe, Sónia Mendez, com a introdução de fibras vegetais em vários painéis decorativos.

DA SERRA AO MAR

AFundaçãoIreneRoloéumaInstituiçãoParticulardeSolidariedade Social, com sede em Tavira, que tem como missão apoiar pessoas com deficiência e suas famílias, no âmbito de diversas respostas sociais e dá, nesta exposição a conhecer o potencial artístico das pessoas com deficiência. Sempre com a convicção de que esta tambéméumaformadecontribuirparaainclusãosocial.

A mistura improvável de materiais como: barro, arame, papel, galhos de árvore, cortiça, entre outros, deu corpo a esculturas que nosremetemparaadiversidadedomaredaserra.

The Irene Rolo Foundation is a private charity based in Tavira. Its mission is to support people with disabilities and their families, as part of various social responses. This exhibition is intended to showcase the artistic potential of disabled artists. The Foundation firmly believes that this is another way of contributing to social inclusion.

The blue boy appeared on an autumn day, when everything came together to start a new cycle, the individual rebirth and a unique artisticexpression.Theresultofthewaitofsomeonehavingachild. ALMOFADAS COM HISTÓRIA

O projeto "Almofadas com histórias" nasceu há oito anos em São Brás de Alportel. A autora, a partir da sua coleção de fotografias sobre património, passou da arte fotográfica para a arte da costura criativa. Uma incursão no mundo têxtil digital com as suas próprias imagens, veio originar um conjunto de produtos únicos criados e feitosàmãoemqueaarteestásemprepresente.

Almofadasdecorativas,bolsas,sacoseaventaissãopeçasúnicasde autorcujoodesignéopatrimónioalgarvio.

Theproject“CushionswithHistory”wasborneightyearsagoinSão BrásdeAlportel.Havingstartedoffphotographingtheseitemsfilled with heritage, the artist switched into producing pieces adorned withcreatinestitching. Delvingintothedigitaltextileworldwithher own images, the artist then produced a unique set of items created and sewn by hand, in which the artist's presence can always be detected.

Decorativecushions,bags,handbags,andapronsmakeupthetypes of unique author-designed pieces, all of which can be considered partoftheAlgarve'sownheritage.

Esta exposição apresenta uma série de trabalhos têxteis, que representamleiturasbreveseambíguasdevivênciasrurais.

Natural do Porto, a artista, estudou bailado clássico, frequentou o curso de estilismo na escola “Esmod” e o CITEX (curso de design moda)elicenciou-seemArtesPlásticas,naESAP,Porto.

A fábula, a lenda ou o conto preencheram a animação dos serões das famílias na Serra de Arga, confinadas pela força do inverno, em torno de uma lareira à noite. Agora, recicla e inspira-se no que guardoudesdecriança…ostecidoseosensinamentosdaavó.

This exhibition features a series of works in textiles, representing briefandambiguousreadingsofruralexperiences.

The artist, who comes from Porto, studied classical dance, took a stylistcourseatthe“Esmod”schoolandtheCITEX(courseinfashion design)andgraduatedwithabachelor'sdegreeinplasticartsfrom ESAP-EscolaSuperiorArtísticadoPorto.

Fables, legends and tales were what kept families in the Serra de Arga entertained of an evening, as they huddled around the fireplace,inthedepthofwinter,tryingtokeepwarm.Now,theartist recycles and takes her inspiration from those childhood days... the fabricsandhergrandmother'steachings.

TEAR'ARTE ASSOCIAÇÃO ESFERA TRIUNFANTE

Conheça o Ciclo do Linho. O ponto de partida são as tradições e o objetivo é reinventá-las, mantendo as suas origens, mas conferindo-lhes uma nova imagem que acompanhe a atualidade e as tendências. Este projeto foi desenvolvido utilizando a antiga arte decultivaretratarolinho,ominuciosoofíciochamadotecelagem,a costura e outras técnicas como por exemplo o macramé para criar acessóriosatuaisecontemporâneos.Aspeçasforaminspiradasnas diferentes fases do crescimento do linho (planta), passando pela conceçãodofio(fiação)atéchegaraotecidofinal.

Learn about the Cycle of Linen Serving as the starting point are the traditions and the goal of reinventing them, maintaining their originsbutgivingthemanewimageinlinewiththepresentdayand current trends. This project was developed using the ancient art of growingandtreatinglinen,themeticulouscraftcalledweaving,the sewing and other techniques such as macramé to create modern and contemporary accessories. The pieces were inspired by the different stages in growth of the linen (plant), from designing the thread(spinning)tomakingthefinishedfabric.

IsabelSousaCarvalhoénaturalde Faro.Licenciada emEngenharia, acerâmicaentranasuavidacomoumhobbyapenasem1999.Mais tarde estuda em duas escolas referência na área da cerâmica, a Escola António Arroio e a AR.CO. Frequenta vários workshops em Portugal, Espanha e Itália. Atualmente dá aulas de iniciação à cerâmica em vários pontos do Algarve. Esta exposição marca o seu regresso à escultura, a área da cerâmica que mais a apaixona, explorando a versatilidade da pasta cerâmica na sua forma, decoração e possibilidade de junção com outros materiais.

Isabel Sousa Carvalho was born in Faro. Having gained an undergraduatedegreeinEngineering,ceramicsonlybecameapart ofherlifein1999,asahobby Shewouldgoontostudyattwoofthe most notable ceramics schools in Portugal: Escola António Arroio and AR.CO, as well as taking part in several workshops in Portugal, Spain, and Italy. The artist currently teaches beginner pottery classes across the Algarve. This exhibition marks her return to sculpture-theareaofceramicsaboutwhichsheismostpassionate - exploring the versatility of clay in terms of shapes and decoration methods, and the possibility of combining it with other materials.

Domingos Gonçalves, conhecido por Xavier, nasceu em Ribeira da Penaevivehámaisde50anosnoAlgarve.

A olaria apareceu na sua vida através do seu sogro que lhe ensinou esteofício,aquesededicahámaisde40anos.OMestreXavierteve vários negócios, mas atualmente trabalha na sua grande paixão: a olaria.Encontra-seacomandaraoficinadeolaria,situadanoCentro Histórico de Loulé, do Projeto Loulé Criativo. His first contact with pottery came through his father-in-law who taught him the craft to which he has dedicated his time for over 40 years. Master Xavier had several businesses but now his focus is on his great passion: pottery He heads up the pottery workshop in the HistoricalCentreofLoulé,partoftheLouléCriativo(CreativeLoulé) Project. At this exhibition, he is showcasing various works of his, as wellashiswayofmouldingandworkingwiththeclay.

Bruno Matos começou desde os seus 12 anos a ajudar o seu pai na extraçãomanualdogrés.UmaarteúnicanoAlgarveeemPortugal. O gosto pela arte foi ficando no ADN e mesmo sendo um trabalho muito exigente, não o troca por nada. Trabalhando na pedreira é feliz. Semformaçãoemarteséatravésdeumolharúnicosobreeste arenito vermelho que as peças lhe vão saindo da alma e mostram a sua verdadeira essência. É o deslumbre do olhar que o artista tem sobre as pedras ao extraí-las que o motiva a mostrar às pessoas a belezadestaartedecriarpeçasúnicas.

Seeing the splendour of the stones as he quarries them is what motivates the artist to show people the beauty of this art of creating unique pieces.

Esta exposição é resultado de um processo de trabalho que se apresenta como o reconhecimento do meio envolvente como dispositivo para exploração de diversos conteúdos. Conhecer a vila de São Brás sob a perspetiva do jogo, da descoberta, entre o que resiste do passado e a atualidade. Três turmas da EB1/JI N3 vão levar-nos numa viagem, do que o seu olhar nos apresenta sobre a vila que habitam, um percurso visual e sensorial, que apela à curiosidade, com experiências significativas e envolventes neste processodeaprender.

This exhibition has come about as the result of a process of recognition of our surroundings, as a device through which to explore various types of content. Getting to know the village of São Brás through play and exploration, somewhere between the remains of the past and what can be seen today. Three Primary / Pre-School classes take us on a tour of their home town as seen throughtheirowneyes.Avisualandsensoryjourneythatsparksour curiosity, filled with meaningful, all-encompassing experiences withinthislearningprocess.

É na agitação do quotidiano que a consciência ambiental se desperta e se alia à criatividade para dar vida aos mais diversos materiais cujo fim parecia próximo. Bruno Azevedo e Vera Rocheta trabalhamemconjuntonaproduçãodemóveisepeçasdecorativas garantindo a continuidade do ciclo de vida dos materiais envolvidos, acrescentando-lhes valor - seja pela pintura ou pela criatividade - na nova função que assumem. Através do upcycling, este casal algarvio aposta na economia circular convicto da importânciadapegadaecológicadecadaumdenós.

It is amid the hustle and bustle of daily life that our environmental awareness stirs and joins forces with creativity to give life to the mostdiversematerialsthatappearedtobenearingtheendoftheir useful lives. Bruno Azevedo and Vera Rocheta work together to produce furniture and decorative pieces, ensuring the continuity of the life cycle of the materials used, bringing them added valuewhetherthroughpaintingorcreativity-intheirnewfunctions. This couplefromtheAlgarvefirmlybelievethatweshouldallbemindful of our ecological footprint so they focus on the circular economy by upcycling.
