OUTDOOR WARNING SIRENS
The City of Lake Worth Outdoor Warning System consists of three separate sirens strategically located throughout the city. The Warning System can be activated for severe weather or any other emergency the city deems necessary to notify the public about. These sirens are tested the first Wednesday of each month.
WHAT SHOULD I DO?
If you hear the sirens and you are outdoors, seek shelter IMMEDIATELY. Once in the shelter, it is recommended to go to an interior room or any room away from windows and exterior walls. Weather should be monitored via television or any smart device.
A few mobile applications that can be downloaded for free to monitor weather are AccuWeather, Weather Underdog, Dark Sky Weather, to name a few.
In the event cellphone towers are inoperable, or a complete power failure happens, a rechargeable radio that doubles as a flashlight is handy to have around the house. The radio pictured below is able to be charged by a hand crank or solar power. These types of radios can be found for purchase at our local Walmart.
