Lake Worth ISD is RE- ENVISIONG THEIR APPROACH TO EDUCATION

In the Spring of 2020, Lake Worth Independent School District started thinking out of the box. The district, with three Pre-K-4 campuses, one intermediate school, one middle school, and one high school, decided it was time to reassess their approach to education. The leadership team began looking at how to make a big impact on a student’s educational journey, and project Transformation 2020 was born.

Transformation 2020 is a bold plan to focus on the fundamentals of students’ education at an early age. Effie Morris Elementary School once served students in grades Pre-K- 4. Now, Effie Morris Early Learning Academy has been updated to serve students Pre-K3kinder. The goal is to help the young learners master the educational building blocks of literacy and math.

The elementary schools have been reconceptualized to focus on specific programs for students in grades 1-5. Miller Language Academy introduces young learners to different cultures and languages. Marine Creek Leadership Academy is in its second year of adopting the Leader In Me program, which teaches students to be leaders by implementing the Seven Habits of Leadership. Howry STEAM Academy prepares students to be lifelong learners by using science, technology, engineering, art, and math to encourage by Jessica Gauthier research and critical thinking.

Lucyle Collins Middle School and Lake Worth High School have made additions to their course catalogues that allow students to explore their educational interest to prepare them for the next steps in their academic careers.

Lake Worth ISD has also been focusing on partnerships within the Lake Worth community in the hopes of providing additional resources for its students.

LWISD’s re-envisioning of the district is expected to have a significant positive impact on its students and the community.
