T
he Lantana Living team is honored to celebrate Ariana Tashakkori, who’s now a Stamps Scholar! She’s determined, hardworking, and ambitious! On top of that, she loves animals and wants to spend her life working for their protection and welfare.

The Stamps Scholarship is a prestigious undergraduate scholarship for students who demonstrate academic merit, strong leadership potential, and exceptional character. “I was in the middle of a session with the college student that I tutor. I saw the ‘225’ area code and knew where the phone call was coming from,” Tashakkori said. She is 18 and a freshman at Louisiana State University. “Naturally, I expected a rejection. So I was crying tears of joy before they had even finished delivering the news to me. All I could say was, 'thank you,' over and over again. I eventually had to return to my tutoring session slightly puffy-eyed.” She was awarded this scholarship during her senior year of high school, and it will cover four years of full tuition plus the cost of attendance. There is also a $14,000 enrichment stipend. Before enrolling at LSU, Ariana attended Guyer High School, Harpool Middle School, and E.P Rayzor Elementary School. Ariana is a science lover, with biology and ecology being her main interests. She’s pursuing a major in Natural Resources, Ecology, and Management, with a concentration in wildlife ecology.
