LEHS Bands - 2020-2021 Awards & Recognitions

* UIL Concert & Sight-Reading - Both the LEHS Wind Ensemble & Symphonic Winds received a SWEEPSTAKES award due to receiving straight one’s from all six judges.

TMEA Region 24 All-Region Auditions - LEHS had EIGHT STUDENTS place in one of the All-Region Bands, with an additional TWO STUDENTS named as alternates. In addition, SIX STUDENTS advanced to the Area round of auditions. LEHS also had one student named to the 2020-2021 All-State Jazz Ensemble, Zeshan Farooq on trumpet!

UIL Solo & Ensemble - 20 Band students received a SUPERIOR rating for solos. 13 students received a SUPERIOR rating in small ensembles. 15 students advanced to the UIL State Solo & Ensemble Contest.

At the middle school level, Walker Middle School student Colin Herrington and Strike Middle School student Jadyn Stuxness made All-Region. Herrington also made the highest band, the wind symphony, and was fifth chair.

MIDDLE SCHOOL BANDS:

Walker and Strike Middle School Honor Bands receive UIL Sweepstakes, first division ratings, in both Concert and Sight Reading. Strike MS Symphonic band achieved a second division overall rating. Walker MS Symphonic band earned a Superior rating on stage and second division in sight reading. This year, all UIL contests were performed and judged virtually.

CHOIR

Strike and Walker Middle Schools Bel Canto Choirs earned the highest ratings in the UIL Sight Reading Contest. LEHS: UIL 3 sweepstakes earned, 8 excellent ratings, 19 superior ratings for solo and ensemble contest. 13 singers advanced to the TMEA Region 24 honor choir breaking the record of members awarded at LEHS.
