Model 1 Density: 600 people per hec.

Sparse Develpment & Highrises have been the conventional system for making new citites which has always failed for example, Detroit city is one where sparse development created an unsafe neighbourhood which lead city abandoned.

Land Consumption

Henceforth, the city needs to be compact & human footprint should be reduced.

Highways

Streets

Issue

Model 2

City sprawl is due to low rises and four sided marginal buildings having density of only 120 people per hectare hence moe commute required for a person to travel from one place to another. Examples of such cities are bangalore and ahmedabad.

Density: 120 people per hec.

Learning from Jane jacob “Eyes on the Street. Highways penetrating inside the city core divides the community and breaks the essence of place.

Density: 600 people per hec.

Network Priorities

ENVISIONING FUTURE OF CITIES

Incremental Strategy Therefore, a city should be planned keeping people in mind. Henceforth providing first priority to pedestrain network. Pushing all the highways at the periphery of city. And growth of city can be incremental in nature

Ideal Model Block Strategy

Perimeter blocks with only two side marhins allows more builtup area and can accomodate more people by still having 1/3rd of land as open space. And with mid rises you can easily acheive 600 people per hectare. Also if we take an example of Pol Houses in ahmedabad which has a density of 700-800 people per hectare having two side margins, with similar dense builtup area having open cortyards in between.

INDUSTRY

CITY

Industrial land use allotment inside the city pheriphery degrades the city enviorment.

Gated communities and non porous boundaries doesnt let society to grow at its best potential.

Senses: 1) Smell 2) Touch 3) Sight 4) Hearing 5) Taste -

FACTO FACTORY ORY

waste sun heat Unpleasant - Disturbing Unhygienic

Irregularize system of vendor on streets create chaos and no cyle track push cyclist to drive on pepedestrian

Land fill site has became a mountain in every city

Lack of public places in neighbourhood leaves streets as only place for any event or recreational activity.

Hundreds of trucks everyday deliver the waste to Landfill consuming thousand of gallons of fuel.

City data is a revolutionary change in our lives like for example google maps, same as that way in future cities will require data outlet from where you can know anything about the neighbourhood like water supply details or per person carbon footprint etc.

ISSUES OF EXISTING INDIAN CITIES

Transitional open space which create an interactive space between residents & people passing by. Porous Boundaries helps interact people and spread knowledge which leads to growth of community

2

Build to line blocks having commercial at ground & residential at top keeps street active & safe.

Electric bus transit system to tackle pollution at the city level.

Pleasant cool wind due to trees. Experiential - Pleasing Hygenic

ENVISIONING FUTURE OF CITIES

Regularizng cycle track & vendors in city.

Solar street lights which provide natural surveilance and helps prevent crimes in city

Residential perimeter block with high density able to acheive the open space.

Senses: 1) Smell 2) Touch 3) Sight 4) Hearing 5) Taste -

Dark places leads to crime in any city. Streets light is not only a need but also a surveillence mecahanism.

By creating a system of garbage chute throughout the city can replace the procedure of transportation. Also the waste can be segregated by automatic computer system and than can be given for recycling process. Recycle & Segregation process

COMCEPTUAL IDEA OF FUTURE CITY BY USING SURGICAL TACTICS TO TACKLE PRESENT ISSUES.

Underground pipes for all services like gas, IT data cables, elctricity, air conditioning, water etc. which can be monitored & control at city level.
