Mondrian, Klee, Hopper…these are just some of the great names whose works you can see in the museum. Wander through our collection made up of almost 1000 paintings, spanning the history of art from the 13th right up until the 20th century.
In addition to the Thyssen-Bornemisza collection, the Carmen Thyssen collection and the temporary exhibitions, the museum offers a range of activities and services for all visitors, including a shop, cafeteria and more.

THE GUIDED TOUR
Permanent collection
The collection of the Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza, focused on European and North American painting, covers a chronological arc between the 13th century and the 1980s.

This visit proposes a tour through the collecting activity of Baroness Carmen Thyssen, in close affinity with that of her husband, Baron Hans Heinrich ThyssenBornemisza.

Temporary exhibitions
The museum organizes three major temporary exhibitions every year, as well as other small-format exhibitions. These exhibitions are always linked to the contents of the collection, which, thanks to its wide range of time and styles, offers us the possibility of programming exhibitions of great interest and very diverse content.

THE GUIDED TOUR: CONDITIONS

Groups
Guided tour in groups of 20 or 25 people (depending on the rooms to be visited).
For more than 250 people the visit will be free with art historians in the rooms.

The prices include one guide for every 25 people to the Thyssen-Bornemisza or Carmen Thyssen collection, and 20 people for the temporary exhibitions.
If you would like an even more exclusive event, there is the possibility of smaller groups for an extra charge of 200 € per guide.

BOOKING PROCEDURE
AVAILABILITY
Availability cannot be guaranteed until the booking is formalised. In case of interest in the budget, it may be pre-blocked in the calendar upon request.
RESERVATION
In order to formalise the reservation, a contract must be signed, in which all the details of the event are contemplated, and a deposit of 25% of the price must be paid. The rest of the price is payable 10 days after the event.
CANCELLATION
In the event of cancellation of the event within 15 calendar days before the scheduled date of the event, the cancellation fee will be 50% of the rental price of the space.
OUTSIDE SOUND
In order to use outdoor sound, an application for authorisation must be submitted to Madrid City Council. The application must be made by the Museum at least 40 days before the event is to be held and a detailed description of the set-up and sound elements to be installed is required. We cannot guarantee that the decision will be favourable. In the event that the request is authorised, the outdoor sound must not exceed the sound levels established in the authorisation.
ANIMATION
If you want to use live entertainment, this has to be approved by the Foundation.
ASSEMBLY
A project must be drawn up with the elements to be installed for approval by the Foundation.
SIMULTANEOUS USE OF SEVERAL SPACES
If several combined spaces are used, the full rate of the main hall plus the minimum rate of the associated halls will be applied. The main hall shall be understood to be the one with the highest of those contracted.
TIMETABLES AND ASSEMBLY
Rental prices refer to 4 hours plus one hour of assembly. Each additional hour of rental or assembly will be charged at 10% of the rental price. If it is necessary to set up the day before the event and the space is available, it will be rented at the usual rate.

ACCREDITED CATERERS
There is no catering exclusivity except for the rental of Las Terrazas / Italian Terrace and Cafeteria service, which must be contracted with Vilaplana. In the event of opting for a non-approved catering service, authorisation will be considered on an exceptional basis. To this end, a letter of agreement must be signed in which the suppliers’ rules are detailed and a fee of 10% is established for the use of the facilities for catering.
