It is 2:15 AM; another DJ has just climbed up behind the mixing desk, animating the crowd with fast and unusually pumping sounds – and the Crowd is on a rampage. Slightly dressed girls create virtual figures in front of their bodies with their hands spinning around just to start this ritual again and again. Young guys with beards gray and long stomp on the ground like gnomes gone mad while they step from one edge of the floor to the other. Using a different series of steps each time; straight, curved and chaotic. A sexy couple is kissing each other in the turbulence of the dancers around. A few kids suddenly pull their arms in the air and begin to scream, heading towards to what seems to be the center of the party. Some seem to have a contract with some non-materially existing beings and for the apprentice this is the top of the hop, a spiritual masturbation challenging the senses and gaining access to musical and natural spirits. Neo Full-On Trance is the music mostly responsible for such symptoms. It’s this music that upgrades people’s heads in a very special way at Psy Trance Party’s all around the world. Perfectly digital mastered diversified tracks of sonic boom; mostly conducted by 16 or 32-Step-sequences filled with sounds from other dimensions with an infinity of echoing overtones that continuously build new images. Pitched spoken messages and hacked voices twist the waves in different tones and are embedded by audio from all directions that makes ones hair stand on end. Of course most of the listeners prefer a musical menu as loud as possible to be able to perceive the finest changes in the sounds. It seems incredible to some people that some of these 'spaced-

out' dancers are even not under the influence of drugs. Some individuals have learned to use an internal energy and dance some ten hours and are still fit for the next four days. Reaching a trance like state through pure body chemistry. Every dancer has a style that seems to be the individuals secret code. The interpretation of the sound varies from person to person. If you look closely there is a similarity among all of them. They are happy, relaxed and – Full On into Trance.
No body can say when the change to Neo Full-On took place. It happened in the past few years and its birth was a refreshing surprise. Tracks like 'Fairlight' or 'Midnight Sun' mark a rough border to the earlier sound that was created with the use of hardware sequencers and synthesizers. People into Goa as early as the 90’s never expected that it could ever become even fatter than fat. The main difference lies in the detail level of production and producing. The instruments evolving. The possibilities of creating and modifying tonal vibrations have risen into gigantic dimensions. Analog signal processing is being combined with digital handling (DSPs) and the technological evolution seems to stream forward at timewave zero. Each instrument can be conformed perfectly to the sound of the other parts, recorded. tweaked, plugged and arranged. A
wide variety of virtual software synthesizers are available on the internet for free download that can be integrated into sequencing software like the Emagic’s Logic series, Steinberg’s Cubase and Nuedo or Cakewalk’s Sonar. You could even get a free sequencer from www.computermusic.co.uk that handles VST and audio. Faster computer processing units (CPU’s) give rise to the possibility of using high performance effects that are not inferior to the hardware models and can be used not once but multiple times in a track. One can save presets, controller data or any midi event. Play it again. Tweak it again and again until the desired effect is produced. All with that fabulous undo function inherent to the computer age. Wouldn’t it be nice if you could do that with life.J There are even some productions made completely with a Laptop computer.
There have been great albums like Simon Posfords "Deranger" (Hallucinogen/TIP Records) and Juno Reactor’s "Bible of Dreams" (Blueroom Records) and many tracks like "Tribute" (Etnica/Blue Room), "Online Information" (Electric Universe/Spirit Zone), "Dancing Galaxy" (Astral Projection/Trust in Trance) or "Future Space Travellers" (Prana/Matsuri). Since the mid 90’s productions all over the world changed. The sound itself is much stronger and clearer, denser and filled with passages,

breaks and rhythm patterns that have a rich variety of constantly changing parts. The music creeps inside the body. Sonic vibrations cause endless emotive responses that trigger the senses and reprogram our base system. It’s like running Norton on a hard drive. Holographic memory is reorganized, stored and after five days of dancing the body and mind are clear. Bands like GMS (Growling Mad Scientists, Spun Rercords), Astrix (Homega), Talamasca (3D Vision), Alien Project (TIP) or Skazi (Shuffle Shuffle) are leading a wide field of Neo Full-On which exists among many other styles and crossover branches. Labels like 3D Vision, HOMmega, Turbo Trance Rec. or Acidance Records release this energetic and power-ful music to the masses.
Varying in a frequency from 2020,000 Hertz (Hz). As one Hertz is 1 oscillation per second, the human ears are able to identify vibrations in the air whose displacements are smaller than the cross section dimension of an atom. The very big difference between watching and listening is that our eyes can only process one seen picture after the other (what is called consecutive vision) while

with their normal lives. Is the formula for trance like states achieved by constantly repeating brainwave rhythms and dancing without any consumption of stimulating substances possibly a hint from our past? A clear doorway into dimensions within our own minds that have been long forgotten by the western world. Medicine from a language that is as old as our planet created by everything that exists. Even a stone falling from a breath of wind down a narrow gorge creates a sonic harmony that echoes for all around to hear. Open your ears to the incredible world of sound.

Not since people like Robert Moog, who was the constructor of the first voltage-controlled
analog synthesizer and musicians like Jean-Michel Jarre or Kraftwerk has innovation in electronic music been so diverse. Even Mozart gave orders for the composition of Waltzes by rolling dices. He had realized the interaction of chaos and order. It is important to know how many different ways sounds can be interpreted from our human bodies and brains. Music consists of oscillations in forms of waves which constantly change.
hearing tones gives he possibility of administering various different impressions (called polyphone). So it is possible to get a sad situation, a fortunate feeling and a dark atmosphere at once! We have an organ in our ear that reacts on bass rhythms that are repeated constantly in a form that one has to move automatically. But music does not only affect People: similar reactions were also proven on various animals, plants and even bacteria. Well made music can get one efficiently into trance without the use of any chemical drugs. These facts were already known and practiced by the shamans from tribes all over the world with their dancing-trance rituals. The San (or Bushmen) people of Southern Africa have ceremonies whereby the tribe dances around a fire for a whole evening. In their belief they are contacted by animal spirits and given energy and knowledge which helps them
THE CHAOS LABORATORY, Amsterdam 1995. After being brought up on the beach at parties in India and Ibiza in the early nineties, Riktam and Bansi didn’t waste any time in firstly becoming DJ’s and then returning to Amsterdam to create the groundbreaking trance project: Growling Mad Scientists. Soon after their first album release on Hadshot (Alien News), it was apparent that these two were destined to change the whole definition of what was then still called "Goa Trance". They brought a whole new production value and spirit to the scene and the dance floors around the world. Growling Mad Scientists pioneered the first wave of assault on human boredom. The Operation was successful. Many thousands were infected immediately. Throbbing bass lines and maximum tweakage proves loved by

www.biodegradable.cc The Biodegradable project was put up from 4 friends in the year 2000 in San Francisco. The founding members, Samy Guediche and Nicolas Oesch come from a musical/producer background in Switzerland. They moved to Santa Cruz 7 years ago, started a recording studio and produced various local solo artist and bands together with their individual projects. Along with some friends from Santa Cruz, such as Max Peterson, today one of the producers of Biodegradable, they started Untied States of Consciousness, a collective driven by an innovative psychedelic flavored house music. At the Burning Man Festival, later that year, the vision became strong and clear... And the limits of imagination scattered in the Nevada desert... Then, Samy, Nicolas and Max started to explore a promising style of pure psychedelic trance, with the support of Laurent Delhom, the last member to join, as the contact person. Since then they have played live and DJ sets all around the globe and released on labels like lying Rhino, Balloonia, Novatekk and Turbo Trance Records - also under the Name „Central Processing Unit" (CPU).
SPUN RECORDS www.spunrecords.org Spun Records was founded by Seth Hoffmann & GMS in 1999 and became the first label in the United States releasing Psychedelic Trance music. After spending a few years going to Psy Trance parties in Europe, Seth realized the potential for the music in the States and teamed up with his friends to establish what was to become the mother label of GMS. By the first two CD releases: "GMS Vs Systembusters", and "Genetic Process", SPUN had firmly established itself within the scene as a label of high quality and exclusive releases, specializing in the full on side of the sonic spectrum. At a time when a lot of the European labels were turning "progressive /minimal", Spun firmly planted the flag of the "Outdoor Party Sound"…the
sound which was to become more and more popular as the new millennium unraveled. The SPUN "stable" has grown to include many of the world’s top psychedelic trance artists like Earthling, Deedrah, Wizzy Noise, Alternate Vision (Logic Bomb side project), Soundaholix and Zorba. Nate Raubenheimer (aka Protoculture) is a superb new talent from Cape Town, South Africa. He's been playing music since he was 7 and already at 12 he was writing music on computers (anyone remember Voyetra PRO on DOS?!). Having dabbled in jazz and breakbeats as a teenager he's been writing psytrance for the last 3 or so years. He signed with Nano Records (a very exciting new label from SA and the UK) in 2001 and has since released some seminal tunes with them and on Spiral Trax and forthcoming on YSE. Already he has begun wowing dancefloors
My name is Charles "Triptych" Michaud and i'm 26 years old To describe my music i talk. about "Daylight Full-on", it means music with groovy and warm basslines, full-on rhythms, powerfull breaks and ecstatic melodies. Always positive synths, not too deep, not melancholic, but shinny as the sun...i make music for the Sun! I live not far from Paris / France I think in full-on you have a lot of night music, a lot of people think full-on it's for the night, or sometimes it can be for the morning, but i'm totally convinced it is also

with his kicking and uplifting morning sounds as both a DJ and through his cracking livesets. He shone at the Prism New Years party in Cape Town and has since been highly in demand throughout SA. Asked to describe his music he says "honestly, I don't try to get a message through in my music; it's more a relection of me having fun with the things I enjoy. What I like to dance to... Tripped out melodies with emotion really turns me on". And asked where he sees himself hea-
ding, "I hope to go to Brazil and Japan soon. Really love to play in those places. But really just want to keep doing what I love; making music and playing it to killer crowds". With an album on the way, Protoculture, once you've listen to his music, is clearly one to watch. And to listen to. And to dance to!
a perfect music for the middle of the day, when the Sun shines and when the sky is deep blue...this kind of full-on music can transport you so far when you use ecstatic melodies, and I love to use the synth in that way, powerfull but always positive or happy, I can't make night music. i'm not making a full on music with only scream-ing synth, i like to use harmonies In my music i like to use all my musical influences that help me to reach this artistic ideal, i listen to a lot of classical music for example, the 19 th century repertoire, the Romantic movement, i like the Art in this
Century, it's a very spiritual one. Romantic artist is the one who find himself in a spiritual way.

It has already been licensed to John '00' Flemmings second White Label Euphoria and it has been requested for the new paul Oakenfold CD. ACDC has been created to release good quality club music. PPS PROJECT Hadshot Haheizar (Hadshot Haheizar is a division of ALIENEWS Label Group) PPS Project are Felix Nagorsky and Samuel Valerstein from Israel. Felix was born in 1978 in Russia, and Samuel in 1981 in France. They have been making music for about three years at their home studio in Karmiel in the north of Israel. They were influenced by many styles and genres of music like classical music, rock, industrial, techno and scary movies! Define their music as not for pregnant women and not for mentally weak people.
GENETIC SPIN (DK) Progressive Trance Name and age: Simon Towity (22 years old), Michael Schultz (22 years old) We started working on the Genetic Spin project shortly after having met each other in the year 2000. Basically the project started out as an attempt of two friends trying to produce some trax together. We shared much the same taste of music, and had both worked on our own before, but "Genetic Spin" was, (or became) the first "serious" project for both of us.
They have many releases like: PPS Project feat. DJ GidiAquarium (New Frontiers), PPS Project- Spectral Beats (Israeli Pitch Process), PPS Project- Craft (Joker Files v2), PPS Project-Toxic (Monarchie II), PPS Project -Concave and Confest (SideEffect)hadshot PPS Project – maxi CD hadshot… Felix also released together with DJ Asherun- Swierd- Techno Weird (Israeli Pitch Process) and more...
The style on the upcoming album is deep and progressive, a pick of trax that we have made over about the last year or so. But it’s as hard as it is boring, in our opinion, to lock up music in a "box of genre", we just like listening to music, and get our own impression, which we hope people would do with ours.. Without this getting to sound all too cosmic, music means extremely much to us, and often works as a sort of an energysource, or driveforce in our lives. For us music is an expression. As with every other creative occupation, music is someone's ideas expressed..simple as that. When it comes to art in general, it being painting, writing, sculpturing or whatever, people often perceives it as a "picture" of the artists personality..when it comes to our kind of music - we think this is true partly. Guess you can hear traces of artist personality or mood in the music and it can be a weird, amusing or sad experience.
now we announce on their upcoming album called " AC VS. DC" 10 tracks of pure energy and tech-anger! Its expression of what is going on now between people in our world. one against the other (ac verses dc)! in 3 words! The album is due to release in June/July on CD and 12" formats.
Then again in production it is often a long, sometimes difficult or an extremely impossible process when an idea arrives in the mind of an artist until it actually streams out your monitors as sound.. There are so many other factors - technical skills, equipment etc. has a great influence on the result. Booking Contact: creamcrop@creamcrop.com mail@geneticspin.dk Webpage: www.geneticspin.dk

Doof is a friends label, we all make music & release it for our soul. We have released 8 CDs and three new ones already standing in line… Doof records was started by Uv and Zirkin, who are best friends since the age of 11. Uv and Zirkin started DJ’ing and organizing rock parties. After traveling the world for a while, both discovered electronic music and set their mind on doing something about it. After living together some time in Amsterdam and gathering up gear, vinyls and some tapes they headed back to Israel with a party in their mind. Time passed and together with two good friends, Barkash and Rontal The doof project party
organization was born. Today, uv and zirkin are managing the label and in the spare time, uv is doing his PhD in nano-technology, and zirkin is dev-eloping his musical career as well as doing the graphics for the label. The doof project was born in 1996 as an underground party organization, making low-cost psychedelic trance parties in the Israeli deserts and forests. The vibe and spirit of the good old days still live in the doof parties and we still make a few free parties every year. Unfortunately, all this is not a good way to make money, but it keeps our hearts full. In the middle of 2001 after years of par-
full on night stuff and "spontaneous aerobics" as the mothership - psychedelic trance with a progressive touch....... Psychedelic Trance for Sportives Munich - music for body and soul - this is our goal... spontaneous aerobics is a german based recordlabel for all kinds of electronic music, especially trance music. the label was founded in 2001 by DJ P.Schock and DJ Ali.en ,after they got bored where the scene went to. with a nice pool of unknown artists as well as well-known producers, spontaneous aerobics keeps the focus on high quality sounds and productions. In the beginning of 2003 ali and schock.o decide to divide the label to two sections: "spontaneous aerobics full contact" for

tying, we realized that all the fantastic music our friends and we make is only heard by a few hundreds of crazy trippers coming to our parties. We decided its time to share our music with the rest of the world. Our label has two guidelines: 1) we release only music we like; and 2) all profits are shared equally with the artists. This is not a good way to get rich, but it’s the best way to stay happy. Contact: doof@doofrecords.net www.doofrecords.net

SON KITE Son Kite is Sebastian Mullaert and Marcus Henriksson who lives and work in the absolute south part of Sweden in a town called Malmoe. The history of Son Kite started in 1998, one year after me and Marcus started to make music together. Our first project was called Trimatic but after this first year we felt that we wanted to do some more techno stuff but also

some stuff with more trancy influences, this was the birth of SonKite. One interesting thing of about their label is that they do all the stuff by themselves. The music, the A&R, the mastering, the graphic design and also the web design. SK:I can’t say that doing everything by yourself is the best option for a successful company and I would prefer to let other people do different partsof the work. The thing is that the economical situation doesn’t allow us to do this and we don’t
have a choice, either do everything by ourselves or don’t do it! Of course there is one good point is that you know that it will be made in the best way! We’re just crossing our fingers that the trend of copying and downloading will change! The new album that we’re currently working very hard with is also very different to the stuff that you’ve heard so far and I hope that you’ll enjoy that progress.
first release came from Shiva Space Technology at the beginning of 2002 after he's been in the top ten of mp3.com Goa and Psy-trance charts. The project figured also on other suc-cessful compilations from labels such as 3D Vision and Shiva Space Technology, Shiva space Japan. It is said that he's one of most interesting refreshing producers coming from France at the moment. The sound could be briefly described as full drive, powerful dance floor psy-trance with high tech, cyber in-fluences. Very intense dark and light sound
combination and fat production are typical of him. Having been a trance music addict for long time, the thirst for inno-vation and originality pushes him to explore new shapes of sound, different sonic extremes and it can be heard easily through his relea-ses that do not repeat a formula. After having played live on several parties in France, Japan, Switzer-land, Austria and Germany.. the audience's feedback proved that this guy have the ability to shake and damage the floor.

TECHNOLOGY
The time is coming to Northern Europe again in which we will be surrounded by speaker stacks and their pleasant sounds, and of course all sorts of people who drop Watt figures and all kinds of other technical data as they move around. What is this all about? With every sound system the first step in its design is a checklist with elementary questions that
first need to be answered. What is the purpose of the event, and what kind of music will be played? How many guests are expected? Will they all be dancing at the same time? Do they need to fit on the floor simultaneously? A ground rule for calculating how much power is needed is 10 to 15 watts per person. How large is the space that needs to be covered. What are the physical features of the location, are there hills, a forest, is there water nearby? What are the logistics on site, are there specific problems with access or with the electrical supply, what is the situation with the neighbours?
P.A. & power Fundamentally every PA-system (PA=public adress) consists of three components: Control electronics with amplifiers, speakers, and lastly mechanical and electronical accesories (such as stands and cabels) Within a sysFLOWN LONG THROW ARRAY, 3 WIDE X 2 HIGH, BASS CLUSTER. PERFORMANCE PER TOWER 20.000 WATT, REACH: ABOUT 60 METERS
tem
the supplied signal is split up with the aid of filters (EQ’s) into low, mid and high frequencies. This can occur before (ACTIVE system), or after (PASSIVE system) the amplifiers. As with passive systems a large part of the amplified signal is lost to heat; these type of systems are no longer used much for large PA’s. Besides active systems have the advantage that all the signal paths can be adapted individually, however they are expensive as more amplifiers are needed.
Set up and range Flown or stacked? This means: Hung in a PA tower, or stacked from the ground up. The flown version allows it to focus the sound on the floor very efficiently, and creates the opportunity to reach the same performance with less speakers.. Stacking is four times faster, but must be set up at ear height, esspecially for the mids and highs, as otherwise too much sound is absorbed by peoples bodies. Combinations of both methods are used for nearfills (stack), which cover the space close to the stage which a flown main PA does not reach. The speakers set up together create an array which in turn should function as if it was one large
TECHNOLOGY speaker. In general they do this only to a certain point, as sound waves can overlap in certain areas and create disrupting interferences. Preferred set ups are two point, four point, and multi channel systems (with up to eight single channels) with crossed stereo, and surround reproduction. With the multi channel systems the most important factor is the desired sound effect, not the uncoulored reproduction of the source material. A homogenous sound field is fundamentally qualitatively better than an „as loud as it will go“ approach. This is especially difficult to achieve in the bass frequencies, as multiple sound sources can interfere with each other and easily create cancellations and culminations which are experienced as gaps lacking or overpowering with bass on the floor. However with correct placement of the speakers one can use this effect as an advantage, and achieve a foccussed sound field with a bass array that leads to less perceived sound in areas where it is not desired, while in other areas an even sound field is generated.
Performance Will the sound system survive 60 hours of full power use, or will single components start to pack up one by one? Besides a good sound this is the most important criteria. With power levels between 10.000 and 80.000 watts or more, and proportionally as many components the possibility always exists for defects and failures of the units. The PA must therefor be modular in its design and set up so that single com-
ponetns can be exchanged hopefully even during use. Nowadays the fine tuning of the PA is often done using digital controllers that make it possible to execute remote controlled adjustments using a laptop, and allow for specific adjustments in the 3 frequency ranges, phase, and sound delays caused by different distances fof the listener to the speakers. Other useful functions are the monitoring of temperature, directivity, limiting, and fully parametric EQing which allows the operator to tune the system to the specific circumstances. First after all the units are well tuned to each other from an electronic point of view comes the fine tuning of the PA using music. During system set up most often test and measuring signals are used (pink noise, sine-sweep,...) The personal taste of the PA operator is an important factor in this process. It is virtually impossible for a rock specialised engineer to set up a correct sound field for electronic music, as due to his listening patterns he bases his decisions on a totally different set of criteria. For example in classical rock music (and in „normal“ PA’s) the middle tones tend to dominate, whereas in modern electronical music the sound which is primarily needed relies on bass and high frequencies. Motivated technicians that think along and besides having the MEDIUM THROW ARRAY, 2 WIDE X 2 HIGH, BASS CLUSTER. PERFORMANCE PER STACK 10.000 WATT, REACH: ABOUT 20 METERS
23 basic technical understanding also understand the music is a decisive factor in the overall performance of the sound system and the succes of the event. email: Marc@totec.de Web: www.totec.de

Conny Lava 303 is the knocked up live act of the moment. It was her idea to write an article on that topic … how to manage that and how not? She has experienced good and blood curdling situations managing kid spaces and playgrounds (a group of musicians, jugglers and hedonists working for better social behaviour). Sadly there are parents believing they can give their children to the kid’s space Friday afternoon and pick them up again on Sunday evening when the party’s over – BAD IDEA! Don’t even think of doing it that way! Discussing that topic you often hear horrible stories of left alone, small beings, wandering during the nights with all these pissed Orks around them. Most of those experienced that like to say that children have nothing to do at parties. Is that true? Do parents have to do without partying in the future?
COMMUNITY
What if you just don’t want give your kids away to grandma or elsewhere? What if you want to have a nice weekend in the nature together with your family? Let an expert on that topic get a word in edgeways, namely one that has been on open air parties from third year on. With 12 Nina didn’t want to do the parties with her parents anymore. Now she’s 16 and wrote down her own point of view. The way she experienced the parties through the eyes of a kid and claims what parents must think of at parties: “It’s OK to take children to parties, because most of them will enjoy it. Where children shouldn’t be taken are indoor parties with bad air and no ideal sleeping facilities. What I can say is that I really enjoyed the open air season. Sometimes I got pretty angry when my parents didn’t want to take me with them. But there’s a lot parents have to take care of!
You need a camping ground away from all the “noise”, the best with other kids around. Perfect would be a bus or caravan. As kid you need a warm (!) and comfortable bed, healthy and tasty food and appropriate clothes. Kids need to feel homelike. We had the luxury of having a toilet in our bus, because as everybody knows the facilities at most parties aren’t that clean at all. Especially for those having to climb up the toilet to be able to use it, it’s disgusting! The forests aren’t a real alternative. Mostly they are used as closets as well, full of scat and urine and I think you can easily imagine that there are better pastimes for kids than wander around dark and filthy forests. As party-offspring you should never be left alone, nor there being this or that person taking care! One time I woke up at night and nobody there, only pissed people. I at seven years of age had nothing left to do than cry. Luckily my mom wasn’t far away and came over immediately. There always has to be someone you know well nearby you and it’s important that this person isn’t pissed in any way! It’s a great misbehaviour if both parents are high on drugs. They
COMMUNITY aren’t able to commit themselves to their kids appropriately. Stoned people are occupied with other things, don’t listen well and don’t see what matters in that situation. On the other hand I always liked the pissed people, they act funny and I didn’t adapt their “bad habits”. That because my parents always explained what this was all about and they told me the way how to interact with them. I think all parents should do that. The kids need to know what’s up when their moms and dads act weird from time to time. My parents used to say something like “that one is partying, drinks some liquor or smokes a large fag. That makes grown-ups act goofy as kids and ditsy as very old people but that state of mind goes away again in most cases”. From time to time I saw people feeling sick, then my parents used to tell me, “if you take too much drugs you get sick. There are people that can’t stop it. Some get so sick they have to go to hospital or at least see their doc”. Armed with that knowledge, already at the age of five or six years, now it’s easier for me to take care of my friends. I know what I’m talking about when they’re pissed or tell them what they should or shouldn’t do.
Excursions starting from a party are one way to make it more acceptable for the little-ones. One can hit the next lake for bathing or do a boat trip, something like that. It’s important to spend time with the kiddies painting faces, drawing, flying kites or even the search for firewood and building caves is amusing. It was so much fun to help out at chaishops, selling coffee or making wafers. One time I earned 30 Marks (15 euros) collecting bottles with refundable deposit! Parents must realise when it’s enough for their kids. Two or three days are the absolute maximum. All those that take their children to parties every weekend should put themselves in their place. Maybe then they see that they can’t go party every weekend. Take them where they want to go, like the annual fairs or the zoo.

The weather is constantly changing as often as the djs that play here during the season. The season in goa starts just after the monsoon ends. Small collectives of locals and freaks soon turn into massive gatherings as december approaches. Parties happen just about every second night. This is to make the most of the tourist scene, as they pour in from all corners of the planet and major indian locals turn out too. The climax as we all blindly know is December and Jan. The climate that universe bestows on us would range from 22 to 30 degrees during the day (may be hotter) and below 20 during nights. Now I speak of peak season, the collective moments when thousands of " freaks", "hippies" and the likes of us gather for some sort of sanctified bliss, which only our sweet goa gives us, if I had to get in to statistics of people that I have seen for a party I could boldly state 10,000 and counting . There are in my prespective two kinds of parties, both sacred in their own rights. The German parties and the Israely parties. Both carry huge sound some-thing like (32 bass bins, double mids , single highs) finely tuned to deliver the dance floor with the abundance of reverberation she deserves. The energy is super high , the musik (mostly 99%of the time ) super killa, promotion for these parties, the grandest form

of marketing I've ever seen , photo copies of maps and locations, shoddily drawn and designed but the mes-sage clear as day, party..... You slowly walk through the chai mama's, wading thru familiar faces ,glancing shortly at the fresh ones, the musik grabs your mind, perception begins to change, the ceremonies have begun. Thousands of people, one DJ, you nourish from him, and he from you :the dance floor. In the morning all you see are heads of people bopping up and down to the sound of the beats in perfect unison, a sight for any eyes. The silent ones (parties) strictly by word of mouth, or follow the "yellow motorcycle " (motor cycle taxi) and eventually trek for an hour to some remote untouched location, 100 to 200 of us dance into the night only to brighten our souls with the glory and magnificence of the sun rise ,bordered only by friends and love. The sunrise is always the most important factor and ingredient of a psychedelic experience. Goa is always in a constant state of flux , Goa gives you what you throw at it, that psy flavour is still there and the magic still exists, and it s the people that make it happen ... Goa trance what it is , the essence being the music, if we were any bigger in number we would be a cult, if we were in the millons a society. A holiday in Goa is not in quantity but in qua-
lity. After the season ends people start moving to the mountains (kullu manali - parvati valleykasul rasool and such places after the season is over in manali. In the mountains they get back to Goa. The mountain season runs at least for six months. The flavour has spread to all the big cities of India now at least one saturday a month a full on Goa experience party is organized in every major city by some local organizer or another... Delhi, bombay, bangalore, madras, kerala & pune. The next question a traveller could ask would be "is there the same psychedelic flavour left in Goa which the legends speak off. Yes the magic still exists and now Djs visiting Goa have a opportunity to travel and spin to a very diffrent vibe... the locations are very diffrent ... farm houses, clubs, sanyasi ashrams, or even ancient budhist caves ie, Baja caves 2300 yrs old and the energy always full on. Paradiso Ent.. of Bombay have hosted a few of the major psychedelic events of the year. With talents like G M S, Neuromotor, psycho micro, Goa Gill, Fungus Funk, Mac e, Space Cat, Lemurians, Shiva jรถrg and local talent of Boom baba, Whosain,dj asad a.k.a. Hussain a.k.a Dj WHOSANE and Asad a.k.a Dj FREEAATMAH, were born and brought up in the city of Mumbai. They began as early as 1986 (at a time when even the word DJ seemed to be alien to Indians), starting with commercial dance and then experimenting with rock, acid rock, retro and funk, progressing to acid house and garage by the late 80's. They then discovered Techno, progressing to Psy, Acid and Goa Trance during the course of the 90's. They have played an important role in promoting the Goa trance scene in India. The success of ‘Paradiso de Anjuna', a name known to all trance freaks and travelers in Goa and the world over, is proof of this. Together they have changed the way people party. Though being labeled as purists, they appreciate and retain an extremely wide taste in music. They are open to spinning any kind of music so long as they like it, regardless of how it is classified. They head the Paradiso team, which is the only professional Trance party organizer, record label and soon to come. entertainment magazine in India. in 1991. They have succeeded in giving the trance scene a very acceptable face in this orthodox society Ever since they visited Goa in 1991, they have been going back faithfully, every year to spin and collect new music because of Goa's unique energy. For them, their sets should tell a story, slowly building up into fulfledged cosmic dance ritual ending with sounds that transcend one back to reality. Channeling the flow of cosmic energy, combining it with their own and then sharing it with the crowd is what they look to achieve through their music. It is most important for them to awaken the love of the universe in each individual. It is the whole spiritually enriching experience that they look to share. It is about awakening the inner being in each individual thus creating a positive change. They believe that, through this form of dynamic meditation they can create a change in the way people live their lives. It is in this form of music that thousands of people can come together to achieve that level of conscious-ness, where the individual dancer

This concept is applied in organizing the Trance Ganesh Visarjan Procession, the brainchild of the Paradiso group. Thousands of people from all walks of life gather and dance through the streets, a distance of 2 km covered in 7 hours. It's a hot April day in Soi Rambuttri right next to the famous back-backer starting point at the Kaosan Road. Right in the middle of the international heart of the City of Angels, Krung Thep. Or Bangkok as westerners, call it. Its the 12th of April and Songkarn the Thai New Year and Water festival is about to start. One great aspect of this valuable Thai tradition is that the family members gather in order to express their respects to the elders by pouring scented water onto the hands of their parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and to present them with gifts dedicated to their ancestors. The elders in return wish the youngsters good luck and prosperity. The most obvious aspect of Songkarn starts in the afternoon with the water battles.

A few words before we start: In this Article I will try to shed some light on the current situation of trance in Israel. I will try to cover all the aspects of the scene as it reflects on the music industry, the parties and the general feeling in our small and troubled country. I will try to be as objective as possible but if anyone would find my words offensive or inappropriate in any way I apologize in advance. First of all let me give a brief introduction as to who Domo Records are. Domo was formed in February 2002 by three vete-
rans of the local underground party scene: Dj nadi, myself who has been making parties for almost 10 years now, dj Avi nini and Dj David (a.k.a Darwish) who were active members of the underground scene for 6 years now helping to create some of the more magical moments our country had throughout the years. We released 2 compilations and one ep so far and the third compilation is on the way. We started out of motivation to promote and represent music and artists because they make good music and not only because they can sell thousands of copies. When we started to look for distribution for our products in Israel we discovered that M.D.M.A RIP has left a big desert in the music industry, which the

other big distributions didn’t want or simply couldn’t fill up. Just for your knowledge there was almost no regular import of
trance & chill-out music to Israel from 10/01 until 08/02 that’s 10 months. We then decided to pick up the glove and try to see if the market is only sleepy or it’s too late for us all. Now, 10 months after I can tell you that the answer is somewhere in-between. The market HAS woken up a bit but still the situation is really bad, and I will not tire you concerning the reasons, its all been said before. I’m happy to say though, that we currently represent over 80 labels from all over the world, among which are all the cosmophilia roster, and other big labels such as 3dvision, spun, Agitato, Interchill and many more.
Add to that the good work that the other major Israeli labels like Hommega, Phonokol, Com.pact, Agitato, Spectrum etc. are still doing and the remarkable effort Isratrance.com’s website and the famous "blue forum" are putting in, and you’ll find that the Israeli trance scene is still alive and kicking so to speak, and people
all over the world look up to it and get their inspiration from it more and more over the years. Our company is now covering the whole aspects of the trance industry: as a label and distribution, as party organizers, influenced and inspired by the European scene as a roll model, as an online shop, and as a booking agency representing artists and djs from Israel and from all the labels in our distribution database for parties in Israel and abroad. We are aware of the "bad reputation" Israeli businessmen have had in the last years and try to correct it by simple honesty
and belief that the power of good promotion and solid word are stronger that any prejudice. This brings us to our next subject which are the parties: all over the world it is well known that the Israeli party scene is one of the strongest, and we get the full proof of it this summer. Every weekend there are 4-7 outdoor parties, some more underground some more commercial but most of them I must say try to keep at least a minimum standard for their crowd. The sound is usually good (normally 2 sets of turbo sound system or equivalent in every party), and the variety of music played goes from the most extreme
PLANET REPORT full on to the softer realms of progressive and minimal trance. The one thing we don’t have enough of and probably never will is freedom.mThere are some big obstacles in our way to be the official trance capital of the world. First one is the police of course, as all of you know the
police have the same motto all over the world they are here to interfere and disturb, and, unfortunately, they fill that task too efficiently in our beloved country. They search the trance forums for parties, they manage to receive sms messages to their mobile phone regarding parties and basically know everything going on and act as they will. Some weekends pass quietly and some alas end with 3-4 parties brutally closed with all the related consequences. Second problem we have is of course the war we are constantly in and there are sometimes 2-3 bombs a week and the national moral is down. People feel less like partying and add to that the awful economic crisis we’re
going through (like the rest of the world) and you find less and less people who can or will spend 30-50$ for a party (calculating all the expenses you have in a normal party). But, again, to end this subject with some optimism I
must say that there are enough people who support our small but always evolving party scene, and give us the strength to carry on this difficult assignment. I can tell you that our biggest dream is to be able to make a big festival of pure electronic music in Israel and to be able to invite safely people from all over the world to see our beautiful and somewhat crazy country. One big advantage is in the music section: Add to the fact that some of today’s biggest names in the global trance scene are Israeli (e.g. Infected mushroom, Astrix, Skazi and others). You see more and more talented musicians who are experiencing and developing styles of
their own combining the well known Israeli "fullonism" with their own unique sound and progressive influences to create a new sub-genre in Israeli trance. Progres-sive full-on trance represented by artists such as B.L.T, Sub 6, and Cosma R.I.P and giving you that cozy optimistic feelings along with powerful arrangements and always innovative and inspiring sound to the crowd. Our last words are directed mainly for the non-Israeli readers among you, although I’m sure that all the ones who know our scene from personal experience will nod their heads in agreement for the upcoming words. Although on the outside our scene seems heavenly, with the best artists, DJs and music available, and the best vibe you can get at parties, with SIX radio stations with a regular trance
55
show, still our situation is not simple. We fight almost every day
with the stiffness and discouragement of the police and official groups. We still need to convince again and again suspicious property/club owners to let us play that "evil" music in their places, usually overcharging us for it because they are sure (and I really don’t know why) that there are a lot of money opportunities in this business. The bottom line for us here in Israel as I see it is that for us this scene is a small heaven, we love it and are used to it, new magical moments are created every weekend, and more people join us all the time in our struggle to live and party the way
we want and not the way the "system" wants us to be. Love & light DJ NADI- DOMO RECORDS www.domorecords.com nadi@domorecords

What is the best time to come there if you are traveling? The best time to come is summer for the weather. From October to April. A lot of sunshine, amazing mountains, superb seaside and lakes, friendly peole and a very generous land. What should a traveler do to find the parties?

Often people here who didn´t know about this music and listen to it for the first time at a party really go crazy and are so impressed by it that they I´ll transform their way of life into a more spiritual/non-materialistic life. Trance is synonimous of change, awakening, revolution, evolution, and a deep trip into conciousness. Chilean Trance is deeply touching a human side. We have several DJs and live acts with passion and knoledge in technolgy.
We don't have many live acts into trance and most are in development. I consider myself the only one after spending 10 years in the UK. I use some elements of psy trance mixed with organic and ethnic sounds. Also the quality, over here it is difficult to find homemade music with a totally proffessional quality sound. Is the music more progressive or full on? Progressive is doing really well. It is easu to listen to for a new audience. Full on always has it's own audience. Is there a lot of love at the parties? Love is always the main feeling at parties. There is a lot of passion for the music and that can always be felt. The communication between the DJ and the crowd happens most of the time. The enthusiasm is definitely there.

A trip to Japan is not the most classic-fashioned travelers choice since it is not a designated holiday resort – so it is even more exiting to enjoy it in from well booked release tour. Until you're there you've probably had (as we had) a distorted image of their culture fed by pieces of information and typical clichés. Over-the-top-friendly people who work unconditionally hard in over crowded cities, but there is this interesting aspect (the YinYang) about it that literally forces one to take a closer look. Japan is actually an island of volcanic origin in the pacific ocean, located south-east of China and Korea, that inhabits 120m. people and several metro poles as Tokyo (the mega city with 12m. citizens) and Kyoto (the old capital) just to name a few. The open-mindedness and curiosity of Japanese people concerning European "sound creators” lasts longer than a gig and rises up to a personal level. In this atmosphere it is really nice to meet DJs, other producers and other interesting and interested people – that's why we have only the best memories about the Cube 326 club in Tokyo where our musical trip as Live Act & DJ actually started.
Cube, a club on seven levels reachable by elevators only (except the case of emergency) is centered in the middle of this exciting city,

welcomes one with a lounge like entrance area including a bar and decent lighting (lighting and ambience is very important to Japanese architecture). The musical background is performed by several laptop musicians, gathered to jam – an interesting approach that should make it's way to Europe. The other floors have a Bar with Lounge and a separate Dance Floor with also very decent illumination and visuals. Ree.K (a popular DJane) had her set in a futuristic minimal style that included her outfit, the sound and visuals equally. Mike Maguire (Qube, London) would present his EBM Disco to PsyTechno style afterwards and on the other level DJ Kei started the evening where we would play later too. Kei is a friendly fellow from Tokyo who booked us for the Klangbilderzeuger tour in Japan and owns a DJ Lounge called Quintrix in the shopping heart Shibuya offering up to date Techno and Progressive as well as Psychedelic style music in combination with a nice Bar. He joined us (or the other way around) on our tour (Tokyo, Fukuoka, Osaka/Kobe) which turned out to be important since communication can sometimes be quite hard: English doesn't always make it and just try to read kanji, their symbolic alphabet. So you better have detailed directions with you otherwise even a cab driver might have trouble finding the way and you'll need to change the taxi to get to your destination. The reason for this
might be the fact that there are no real street names – only postal codes and names of buildings. Therefore directions are depicted or describe the way based on wellknown places like subway stations. But back to the cube: the enthusiasm the people are partying and dancing with in Japan proves that the music and club culture have a
very special significance – the atmosphere is totally inspiring and aggression free (even if the music turns out to be harder). We could profit by this and our Live Act and Marcos DJ Set was a real pleasurable experience under these circumstances… that's it! (or "iineee !!!" in Japanese) would be an appropriate comment. The fancy visuals and the nice sound pushed it to the top. Air (the club in Fukuoka) reminds one in a black-blooded way of the OMEN in Frankfurt with an extreme sound system and dedicated visuals by a Japanese VJ who even made a copy for us of his recordings during our gig and the night. It was small enough to create atmosphere and big enough to offer some space for dancing. Organization is a key value in Japan so we experienced
PLANET REPORT perfect treatment and generosity – the place to be … the organizers take care of everything at a very personal level. Uwaya Gekijyo (that's a hard one) in Osaka/Kobe turned out to have state of the art sound systems and a cool setup that would really rock. Infusion from Australia played that evening too during their tour and both of us could enjoy this fine location. To party "hard” is common sense in Japan. For many people this is the perfect way to adjust the usually long and exhausting working or studying weekdays. So it might happen that people fall asleep in the train standing upright and grabbing a handhold. But they manage not to fall and if you're lucky enough to it– they always
wake up at their desired station. There is really a "complex constriction” to be seen in subway stations, shops or on the street that is usually managed easily by the passengers by acting fast and nimble to get along - only watch your path. Sometimes it seems isolating because of the foreign but very calming-charming language that tranquilizes you slowly down to a pleasant state of listening … there is to many opto-acoustic input here anyway to keep your mind free, but once you're into it, you'll like it ;-) You could enjoy a quite extraordinary restaurant named The Lockup in Shibuya, Tokyo which is freaky located in the basement (the name
speaks for itself) of the Grand Tokyo Mall. It mixes up a futuristic haunted house with a dungeon that serves really good food and special drinks (in acid like colors and test tubes). The waiters wear uniforms of police or convicts and this place is dark … only the "dining rooms” in form of cells or little vaults are fairly illuminated, the rest of the labyrinth shaped restaurant is - except some fluorescent lights - a true twilight zone. The food is presented nicely and tasteful (oishii) from the starter to the dessert whereas all courses are shared traditionally between the guests. By this method everyone can taste a little bit of everything which is in my opinion very chummily and fun. The pure existence of a place like this proves again the joyful experiments Japanese people conduct with great self-mockery in their culture. Even when the going gets tough, the tough keep smiling – there is always room for a certain spiritual joy. Another location worth to be mentioned is an indefinable combination of Bar, DJ Café, Living Room and cozy tiny Restaurant compressed into another basement of a skyscraper. It is owned by a freaky friend of Kei who acts as a bartender, cook, DJ and deco artist with enormous energy and joy all at the same time. It is a hideaway in the middle of the organized chaos of Tokyo and suggests timelessness and safety. Sake and other nice things were served that free your mind. After that happening one could watch again the restless speed of everyday life that is (compared to European level) always running at fast-forward: optimized procedures and the "will to work” suggest being in a highly technically organized ant-hill. Again, organization is a key value: machines that cover your umbrella automatically

when entering a store to protect it from wetness, heated toilets with auto-wash program and of course the organizer itself – the mobile phone – is indispensable in everyday life. Not only for finding your way around in the nameless streets but of course to chat and send/receive emails (I don't know any other country that has designated email addresses for mobiles).
By that the mobile life isn't limited in any way, because most of the people go home only to sleep.Japan with it's unique spirit and symbolism is really worth traveling to and a must-do for everyone seeking a different experience and willing to expand the horizon eastwards … ja mata (see you next time).

Tokyo is one of those places where you arrive; you get on a mission and find yourself still living there a few years later… This is more or less what happened to me. I arrived in Japan during September 2002 to film the Vision Quest Gathering and edit their DVD. I only got there about 2 days before the festival, still overwhelmed from the endless new impressions, bright lights and interesting people, I found myself in the artist bus with more of the most famous trance artists than you would see in Europe in one year! We were on the way to "Gifu” in the mountains, about 6 hours from Tokyo, an area where they have a few of the biggest festivals in Japan. The festival area itself
was not less overwhelming than Tokyo and reminded me of huge Rock Festivals. A massive sound system on a huge stage with giant scaffolding to hold all the lights, scanners and video beamers. After it got dark one could see amazing light effects with perfect Japanese organisation, which you really have to

Most of the time trance productions are very chaotic. I wasn’t going to leave this stage for the next 2 days and was blown away by the quality of the sound in combination with artists like ABA Structure, Astrix, Dino, GMS, Joerg, Skazi, Spacecat, Infected Mushroom, X-Dream, The Delta, Tsuyoshi… and Bryan Burton
Tania Miller (Canada) is the founder of Vision Quest and you don’t see a single one of their parties without her dancing on the stage non-stop in her energetic, addictive style. This is able to feed you with information (-magazine), a meeting-point for debate and exchange (-store) and a virtual shopping mall, that delivers its products even to the far reaches of the planet It all got a little bit confusing, so we decided to inform you about what's going on with us. In spring 2002 we realized that our cosy little domicile in Hamburg-Ottensen has been too small to be home for a zine, a shop and a mailorder. We were swamped with work and the number of mistakes we made increased rapidly. Unhappy about this we looked for new partners and decided to close down the shop and mail order in Arnoldstr. There's only the editorial office left. Now it's time to present our new "trance shop". An inviting small shop in Hamburg: The search for a new location turned out to be a little bit difficult. Then suddenly, like from nowhere, the solution came knocking at the mushroom magazine wider range of products and we locked a deal. Since then the front door!
