Roma Gypsy melodies to genre-defying originals. www.dallahanmusic.com 29 NOVEMBER The Fallen Angels Club presents ..... PETER BRUNTNELL TRIO plus JAMES EDWYN (solo): At The Admiral Bar Glasgow. Doors 7.30pm, 8pm start. If you ask the likes of Peter Buck (REM), Scott McCaughey (REM, Minus 5), Willy Vlautin (Richmond Fontaine), Jay Farrar (Son Volt, Uncle Tupelo), John Murry, or Kathleen Edwards they’ll all tell you that Peter Bruntnell is a writer with rare and mysterious qualities. Peter has a unique ‘way with a tune’ and the most interesting thing about his music – and part of the reason for his devoted following – is the indefinable knack the songs have of locking into one’s emotions in an elusive, intangible but deeply affecting way. Respected journalist Keith Cameron once claimed in NME that “Peter Bruntnell’s records should be taught in schools” – such is the particular appeal of the quiet Devonian’s song writing craft. Off the back of a wellreceived set at BBC Scotland’s “Quay Sessions with Roddy Hart”, a session for “Another Country with Ricky Ross”, and several sold out trio shows throughout March, July, and November 2017, Peter will (once again) take to the road with a line-up comprising himself on acoustic guitar, harmonica, and vocals, Danny Williams (The Rails, and ex- Black Grape/ St. Etienne) on double bass, and one of Scotland’s most in-demand musicians of the moment, Iain Sloan (of The Wynntown Marshals and Blue Rose Code) on pedal steel, guitar, and backing vocals. Aberfeldy Festival Aberfeldy 2-3 November A wee cultural, music, poetry, drama and arts festival in the wonder of Highland Perthshire. The festival takes place the first weekend in November every year and the majority of it is held in Aberfeldy Townhall. The Line-up focuses on bands and music on the Scottish music scene that are maybe under represented but still have a good following or have had critical acclaim and played on radio stations like BBC6. Although that's not always the case nor an exclusive ruling on who we invite but we do try to include bands that have made an impact on the music scene in Scotland in that year. Ian Rankin has helped to curate for a number of years now and always has a good handle on what bands are worthy of a listen. We would love for you to come along - hang out and have a grin or a gin - laugh, cry and just feel the rhythm. Help us Aberfeldy residents get through the winter by joining us for a bit of a party. And then we will keep you (not forever) but in the cellar to keep the hounds happy until May/Juneish time. www.aberfeldyfestival.co.uk
