Formed in Edinburgh, Shooglenifty began life with a residency at the La Belle Angele pub and quickly drew a strong fanbase for their energised, contemporary roots material which soon became one of Scotland's most unique musical exports. They are credited being the originators of 'acid-croft', a fiery and infectious blend of Celtic traditional music and dance grooves that band members describe as "hypnofolkadelic ambient trad." 'Live at Memorial Hall' was released last autumn on double 180g coloured vinyl and digipak CD as well as download/ streaming via iTunes, Spotify, Amazon MP3 and the usual digital services. The album has been attracting rave reviews and radio airplay at home and abroad, making album of the week on Celtic Music Radio. www.davearcari.com TIDE LINES: At Brunton Theatre, Musselburgh. Tide Lines are delighted to announce their first headline UK tour, a summer of European and UK festivals appearances and a new record deal. This band from the Highlands has gone from a clutch of digital singles to a debut album with over 2 million spotify streams in under 2 years. And now they’re aiming to take their music to new audiences. Forged from the literature and music of the areas where they grew up, Tide Lines meld romantic, rural life with a record collection of classic American songwriters. Imagine, if you will, a 70’s Springsteen and an E-Street band of bagpipes and electronics! www.facebook.com/wearetidelines 1 DECEMBER ANDY WHITE: At Leith Depot, Edinburgh. Belfast-born Andy White is on tour across the UK and Ireland. On Rave On, Andy’s voice and lyrics told the story of a boy growing up in the political and social chaos of Northern Ireland and making his way to Thatcher’s Britain with an acoustic guitar and a suitcase full of poetry books, Clash cassettes and Bob Dylan albums. Originally recorded in a field in County Antrim, this year’s reissue is a limited edition in white 180g vinyl with a gatefold sleeve. It still sounds fresh, raw and urgent today and is complemented by latest album The Guilty & The Innocent, Andy’s reaction to the current news cycle. Grenfell, Trump, Corbyn, (in)equality and justice are its themes. The six minute title track stunned audiences on his UK tour last year. You’ve got to hear it. www.andywhite.com 3 DECEMBER

Soundhouse presents ..... MARTIN KERSHAW OCTET – In Memory of David Foster Wallace: At The Traverse Bar, Cambridge Street, Edinburgh. 7.30pm. £11. The US author David Foster Wallace was widely regarded in his lifetime as being one of the leading authors of his generation. Though bestknown for his titanic, sprawling masterpiece Infinite Jest, Wallace’s incisive journalism and gloriously imaginative short fiction have also proved hugely influential. His tragically early death in 2008 at the age of just 46 robbed the world of a singular talent. Saxophonist and composer Martin Kershaw was keen to mark the 10th anniversary of Wallace’s passing with a major new work featuring a stellar line-up of Scottish musicians. The result, Dreaming of Ourselves – In Memory of David Foster Wallace – is a large-scale composition for 8piece ensemble, showcasing a fascinating panoply of styles and textures in fitting tribute to Wallace’s literary legacy. The programme will also feature other Wallace-inspired works previously written by Kershaw, newly arranged and re-imagined for this very special concert. Line-up: Adam Jackson (alto saxophone), Sean Gibbs (trumpet), Martin Kershaw (tenor/soprano saxophones), Chris Greive (trombone), Graeme Stephen (guitar), Paul Harrison (piano), Calum Gourlay (bass) + Doug Hough (drums).
