Sonnet III: The Unbearable Lightness of Not Being By Garrett Ian Shatzer

Ghosts roamed at our feet, unbeknown to us both, For it took belief to detect their presence, Yet once she considered the threat that they posed, She made the ploy to unearth false tension. „Twas brought to the fore under the guise of need, Her senses sharpened by grinding the others. As the weightless golem continued to feed, It pulled to the ground what was once above her. Spirits faded as the séance was set, Though not before pride had lifted her veil. So I heard “we are lucky to have met,” But the subconscious mind has been known to fail. The ghosts of substance, lost in apathy; The unbearable lightness of not being.
