Sage the Gemini towered on stage before a sea of more than 4,200 Cal Poly students, pausing his set for a moment to make an observation. “I don’t mean to offend,” he said. “But this

is a big white crowd.” His audience laughed knowingly as Sage went on to say he loved the dynamic, that “white people know how to turn up” and, “They don’t care, all they want to do is dance.” Hoodie Allen followed Sage, also calling out some Cal Poly stereotypes: “All the girls are

fucking beautiful and all the guys like go to the gym and work out.” He even snuck in a freestyle reference to the St. Fratty’s Day roof collapse. The crowd ate it up.

This past school year in greek life has brought many surprises, with two suspensions, two probations and the creation of new legislation such as the Students Taking Action Towards University Safety plan (STATUS). Interfraternity Council (IFC) President Alex Horncliff reflects on this past year. “I think every year, you’re going to run into

problems. It’s impossible to predict what’s going to happen in the year. This year had a lot of variables, some of which led to good things, a lot of which led to strong countermeasures, but that’s just how it goes,” Horncliff said. “It’s really indicative of the progressive idea that we need to take more responsibility as greeks.”

Windsor and Bryan earn spots at NCAA Track and Field Championships Jesse Summers @summers10jesse

Cal Poly track and field juniors Ashley Windsor and Danielle Bryan earned bids to the NCAA National Championships this past weekend at the NCAA West Regionals, hosted by Texas. Windsor broke her previous personal record in the 1,500 meter, helping capture her spot for the finals in Eugene, Oregon. After racing a 4:18.54 at the Big West Championships, she cut down her time by nearly three seconds, posting

a 4:15.90. This time also puts her in the Cal Poly record books, as she now sits third all time in the 1,500-meter category. Windsor placed third among all competitors, earning the guaranteed berth in the championships awarded to the top five finishers. She will race in the national semifinals on June 11, which will feed into the national finals events just two days later.
