In 1986, Honda introduced a new make to the range of its most luxurious models – the Acura. The cars have been sold since March 1986 mostly in the USA and Canada. The Acura cars are produced in Japan and, since 1996, in the USA and Canada. In 2003, the production of the CL coupe in the USA was terminated. Latest premieres: Detroit 2003 – TSX; New York 2003 – TL Concept; September 2003 – TL of the 2nd generation and MDX restyling; Las Vegas 2003 – a prototype of TSX ASpec; Los Angeles 2004 – a prototype of TL A-Spec; New York 2004 – RL of the 2nd generation; September 2004 – RSX restyling; Las Vegas 2004 – RL A-Spec; Detroit 2005 – RD-X (based on the RD-X concept car of Detroit 2002). The RSX model was presented in July 2001. This compact, 4-seat coupe employs a floor panel of the currently produced Civic model laterally placed 2.0-liter engine features a variable-length intake manifold of the i-VTEC type. The engine provides 160 hp and comes with a manual, 5-speed gearbox or a 5-speed automatic transmission of sequential gear selection. In the Type-S version, the engine packs 210 hp and comes with a 6-speed manual gearbox. The Acura RSX is produced at the Japanese plants of Honda and is only sent to the American market.
Acura TSX A sports sedan of compact dimensions, marked with the new TSX symbol, was first presented at the 2003 Detroit Motor Show. It is the direct successor to the Integra model. The vehicle has been equipped with a 2.4-liter 200 hp i-VTEC engine with a manual 6-speed or an automatic 5-speed gearbox. In its class, the model features extraordinary performance.
