WEEK 9 READING: TITLE OF READING

Question 1: What are Durer’s rules for perspectival projection? (Maximum 100 words) 1. Perpendiculars drawn from eye to the picture plane meet at a vanishing point. 2. parallels have a common vanishing point 3. If the location of the eye is known, the portion of picture is calculable from the preceding portion as the equal dimensions diminish progrssively.

Question 2: Describe homogenous space? (Maximum 100 words)

All elements are mere determinations of position, possessing non independent content of their own outside of this relation. It is purely functional and not a substantial reality.

QUAD PERSPECTIVE 1 + 2 This is the first scene Marco Polo is going to see in Raissa. According to his direction he is going to see several group of depressive people, such as the bankers and workers which are mentioned in the article. The serving maid and the umbrella maker occupied a relatively small region in this perspective, they represent the happy part of the Raissa. The Obstacles are the bridge which connect the happy part and the depressive of the Raissa.

This is Marco Polo’s second perspective which includes the happy part of the Raissa. The people in the view are connected by series events. In this scene obstacles appear again. This scene explains why they are there as they are freed by the painter. Marco Polo, depressive part of Raissa and the happy part of the Raissa are like three parallel universes. There has two time loop in the Raissa. So this explains why Marco polo can see both the beginning and the end of this series events which happens in Happy part of the city

PERSPECTIVE SCENE 1 + 2

“In Raissa, life is not happy...Over the columns of figures all awry in the ledgers of merchants and bankers, or at the rows of empty glasses on the zinc counters...”

“In Raissa, at every moment...dog... stonemason...serving maid...umberlla maker...happy bird and painter...” The connection between random events make a series of happy things happen in Raissa in every moment. The image of figures are clear expect stonemason. This point illustrate Marco Polo Stares the dog and then have a quick glances at the stonemason and ultimately focus on the other figures in this scene.

WEEK 4 READING: TITLE OF READING Complete your reading before attempting these questions:

Question 1: IWhat is the difference between autographic and allographic practice? (Maximum 100 words) According to philosopher Nelson Goodman the main difference between these two projects are the authenticity. Autographic arts are those have the direct contacts of the author which can not exist in many copies, for instance the painting and sculpture. Allographic arts can be produced without the direct intervention of the author and can be replicated.

Question 2: Why do architects need new representational techniques? (Maximum 100 words) Architects’ work involves both allographic and autographic practice. In the design process like the music and poetry resides in design rather than the realized building through notation. After this process the actual building be built is allographic. The problems is the substitution of the intangible for the tangible, and marking the inadequacy of the image as a descriptive mechanism.

The annotation represent the position, movement, perspective ,mood and even space in the scene. Raissa has two sides, unhappy side and happy side. They exist in the same space, and the unhappy side never notice the existence of happy side although as the article says it exist “at every moment.” It may suggest this two sides like the parallel universe within different time loop. They are not aware each other’s existence. Marco Polo is in the third time loop as he is a outsider. He can see both happy and unhappy universe at any time point just like watching a movie. The scene appears now not necessarily happens simultaneously. It may be the future or the past.
