MARIE VON LOTZBECK INTRODUCTION
Marie von Lotzbeck has had great success with throwing herself headlong into starting her own business and creating the Von Lotzbeck Jewellery brand, but why did Marie in the first place fall in love with jewellery making and creating? A question she’s asked herself many times and the answer always seems to lie in her self-belief and knowing everything will work out in one way or the other. Marie doesn’t let doubt or fear stop her from developing - rather fail and learn. And where does this confidence and courage come from? “I think it’s in my personality, my family history and the way I was brought up. I’ve always known that where there’s will, there’s a way. I had to believe in myself and what I do because if I didn’t, then who would?”, Marie says. For Marie, jewellery design is part of highlighting women’s individual strengths and style: to give them a piece of her story and a symbol of power to believe in themselves and in what they do.

NEW COLLECTION BUBBLES The first ideas for the Bubbles collection unfolded when Marie von Lotzbeck designed the Rare Diseases award back in 2008. The collection is based on the fragile nature of paper. When formed and sculptured, the brittle material suddenly exudes strength and power. The intricate characteristic of the Bubbles collection is timeless.

VL BEHIND THE SCENES
BEHIND THE SCENES Marie von Lotzbeck gathers inspiration everywhere she goes: through powerful personalities, contagious energy and charisma, through architecture and nature. Some of these impressions are stored for years before returning as new design ideas. Working with various materials in the creative process of creating her collections. The first ideas are drawn and formed in paper or silver sculptures where several models are created in different shapes and styles. We are taking you behind the scenes to have a peek at Marie von Lotzbeck’s workspace, favourite tools and techniques.

FAVOURITE TOOLS When completing her apprenticeship in 2001, Marie von Lotzbeck bought a complete jewellery workshop that had run in the same family across three generations. The space oozed of history and memories and had every instrument a jeweller need. To this day, Marie is still using these tools and has collected her favourite selection.

VL AWARDS
RARE DISEASES AWARD In 2008, Marie von Lotzbeck was invited to design an award for Rare Diseases Denmark. Rare Diseases created the Rare-day which is held once every leap year on the last day of February. On this day an award is granted to a person, organisation or institution that has done a remarkable job for rare diseases during the last year. HRH Crown Princess Mary is the patronesse of Rare Diseases Denmark and helps create attention around rare diseases and disabled groups. Marie von Lotzbeck is very grateful that this is the third year she has been invited to design the award. Have a look at the video to see the process of designing and making the Rare Disases Award.
