Feeding Performance Partners with KTM Canada and A&E Racing to Expand 2012 Program Feeding Performance Inc. is very pleased to announce that it has formed a key partnership with KTM Canada and A&E Racing to expand its 2012 program, and to continue FP’s ongoing mandate to improve support for top Canadian off-road racers in the coming years. Brackley Beach, PEI – July 3rd, 2012 -
With only a few days remaining before the opening rounds of the 2012 Canadian Enduro Championship, FP and its new partners are excited to announce the immediate addition of two of Canada’s top off-road prospects. Seasoned warrior Jack Sawatzky, along with 17 year old speedster Ty McKenna, will be focused on contesting the E1 Class of this year’s CECs aboard KTM 250 XC-F race weapons. Both riders hail from Alberta and have achieved impressive results in their racing careers.
Jack Sawatzky
In addition to posting solid CEC results in 2009, 2010 and 2011, Cochrane’s Jack Sawatzky has been delivering consistent podium finishes in the Expert and Pro Class at Regional races in Western Canada and the USA over the last several years. Although Jack has definitely shown he is a force to be reckoned with aboard his beloved KTM 300 two stoke and the leading edge 350F, he is also a proven threat on the 250F machines. Sawatzky snared 1st Overall in the E1 Pro Class at the Western rounds in British Columbia and Alberta during the inaugural season of the Canadian Enduro Championship in 2009. Jack had to give up a clear shot at the Overall Canadian E1 title that year after being unable to attend the Eastern rounds as a result of his commitment to race the ISDE in Portugal. Sawatzky built on his CEC momentum by hammering his way through the grueling six day event to take home a well earned Silver Medal.
Ty McKenna At only 17 years old, Medicine Hat’s Ty McKenna has already logged a stellar racing career. On top of nailing 2 Regional Championships in 2010, including the Kids Expert Class in Alberta’s CMRC off-road series, McKenna pounded his way to 2 more Regional Titles and a National Amateur Championship in the 2010 Canadian Enduro Championship.
Ty stormed his way to top spot in his class at both the Western and Eastern Championships of the CECs in 2010 and locked down the Overall Canadian Title as a result. In 2011 McKenna was only the second rider ever in Alberta to be bumped two full classes at once. The only other is past Canadian Champ, and legendary off-road Alberta fast guy, Jason Schrage. Last season, McKenna continued to accelerate his racing progress by snagging multiple wins in both the CMRC series, and the Expert Class of the CMA series in Alberta. McKenna followed that up by earning his stripes at the 2011 ISDE in Finland where he fought his way to the finish and earned a ton of experience; on top of a coveted ISDE medal. As one of the youngest Canadian riders ever to compete in the ISDE, Ty celebrated his 17th birthday on Day 3 of the race. McKenna’s performance in Finland also resulted in him earning the Bert Irwin Memorial Cup; awarded to the Canadian with the best performance at the ISDE. Coming from a big family of riders and racers, McKenna is proof positive that the social aspect of amateur racing is not only a great way to bring entire families together, it can also pay off in terms of increased support for the young warriors that have been earning their dues and snagging spots on the podium. Sawatzky and McKenna have been on the gas in 2012 and both riders have stood on the Pro Podium in Alberta this year. On June 10th, the duo shared the podium by finishing 2nd and 3rd respectively at the Porcupine Hills race behind 2010 Overall CEC Champion, Jason Schrage. Jack currently sits in 2nd Overall in the Alberta series.

“I’m definitely pleased with this new partnership, and to be able to continue supporting top Canadian racers so that they can focus on chasing their dreams of podiums.” said FP’s founder Marc Coffin. “I’ve known Dave French at A&E for more than 15 years, and I couldn’t ask for a better partner. Dave and I are definitely on the same page in terms of what we want to accomplish to improve support in this sport. He has been top notch to work with as we’ve scrambled to put this new program in place in time for this year’s CEC opener. Andy White and the rest of the crew at KTM Canada have stepped up in a big way to make sure that we have the bikes, parts and support that we need to be successful. I’m certainly looking forward to continuing to build a long-standing relationship with both A&E and KTM; and hunting Championships. Jack and Ty were easy picks to expand our program this year. Jack has paid his dues in this sport for many years and his tenacity and consistent performance certainly make him very deserving of the increased support we have been able to offer him this year. Ty is young, and is well on his way to becoming one of the next off-road stars in Canada. He comes from a great family and we are very happy to help give him some of the extra resources he needs to get to the next level”.
McKenna (919) & Sawatsky (17) are ready for the CEC opener in BC Since 2007, Feeding Performance has supported more than 15 of Canada’s top racers as they challenged the sport’s best competitors across Canada and in various countries around the globe, including; Austria, Brazil, Chile, France, Greece, Italy, Portugal, Romania, Sweden and the United States. In addition to impressive finishes at extreme events such as Erzberg, Hell’s Gate, Red Bull Romaniacs, Last Man Standing and Xtinction, FP supported riders have stormed their way to well over 100 Pro Podiums, including multiple Championships and more than 40 Wins, in Regional and National competitions across Canada.
We are very grateful to our many amazing sponsors that provide us with the outstanding support that has allowed us to help raise the bar in Canadian off-road racing. Without them, none of it would be possible.
