Press Release
KYLE KEAST
Keast out for the season After sustaining a couple cracked ribs during a practice crash on Wednesday, prior to Saturday's race for Round 2 of the Monster Energy Canadian Motocross Nationals, Kyle Keast decided to throw a leg over the YZF 450 at Whispering Pines Raceway in Kamloops. Kyle's first moto went very well, with the pain set aside, he soldiered his way through the first turn in 15th place and passed riders one by one to take 4th position. Moto 2 was looking much like the first, as he was on his way to catch the front runners after a 9th place start. Kyle reached 5th position, reeling in the 4th place racer and on lap six an unfortunate crash would leave Kyle on the side of the track with medical personnel surveying his condition. It was soon determined that the number 4 of Kyle Keast had suffered a broken femur. After x-rays and evaluation Saturday evening, surgery was performed. At this time, he has been released from hospital in Kamloops and will start his recovery process in Edmonton. Kyle showed amazing speed and potential to be a contender in the hunt for the championship. He is apologetic towards his many sponsors, supporters and fans. Ryan "Newf" Lockhart commented on his rider's crash: "Bad things happen to those when they are at their best," and went on to say, "unfortunately injuries are a part of the sport. Kyle was a hero today (racing injured) and was on his way to a spot on the podium in the second moto." This great sport we so dearly love comes with injuries and Team 4 is determined and already setting goals for the 2013 season. Kyle would like to thank his many sponsors: “I would like to send thanks to my sponsors for their hard work, huge effort and continuous support : Yamaha Canada, Machine Racing and John Nelson, Yamalube, Troy Lee Designs, GYTR, Podium Grafix, Actionetix and Craig, FMF, VP Racing Fuels, Ride Engineering, Bondi Engines, Smith Optics, Gaerne, CTi, Works Connection, Matrix, Dubya and of course my mechanic, Ryan Lockhart"
